6Identifying the Zn-Co binary as a robust bifunctional electrocatalyst in oxygen reduction and evolution reactions via shifting the apexes of the volcano plot显示文摘The performance of an electrocatalyst is closely correlated with the binding strength of key oxygencontaining intermediates,i.e.,*OOH,*O and*OH,in the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Facile strategies to achieve favorable binding strength of these oxygen-containing species are urgently demanded,yet it still remains great challenges.Herein,the Zn-Co bimetallic isolation,which serves as an ideal model,is studied systematically by the density functional theory(DFT).Reaction activity volcano plots are built from 48 models,among them the ZnCoN6-gra(I)configuration is confirmed to be the most stable,featured of the strongest interaction with the oxygen-containing species.Optimal △G*O(free energy change of an atomic oxygen containing intermediate)is facilitated,which effectively drifts the volcano peaks of ORR and OER closer to each other,enabling promising bifunctional catalyst.Moreover,the small overpotential in the simulation of protonation and oxidation by hydroxy groups rationalizes the durability of the catalyst in both acid and alkaline media.Jing Wang Rui Xu Yuling Sun Qian Liu Meirong Xia Yan Li Faming Gao Yufeng Zhao John S.Tse 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,4:1

9Identifying quasi-2D and 1D electrides in yttrium and scandium chlorides via geometrical identification显示文摘Developing and understanding electron-rich electrides offers a promising opportunity for a variety of electronic and catalytic applications.Using a geometrical identification strategy,here we identify a new class of electride material,yttrium/scandium chlorides Y(Sc)_(x)Cl_(y)(yx<2).Anionic electrons are found in the metal octahedral framework topology.The diverse electronic dimensionality of these electrides is quantified explicitly by quasi-two-dimensional(2D)electrides for[YCl]^(+)∙e−and[ScCl]^(+∙)e−and one-dimensional(1D)electrides for[Y_(2)Cl_(3)]^(+)∙e−,[Sc_(7)Cl_(10)]^(+)∙e−,and[Sc5Cl8]2+∙2e−with divalent metal elements(Sc^(2+):3d^(1) and Y^(2+):4d^(1)).The localized anionic electrons were confined within the inner-layer spaces,rather than inter-layer spaces that are observed in A_(2)B-type 2D electrides,e.g.Ca_(2)N.Moreover,when hydrogen atoms are introduced into the host structures to form YClH and Y2Cl3H,the generated phases transform to conventional ionic compounds but exhibited a surprising reduction of work function,arising from the increased Fermi level energy,contrary to the conventional electrides reported so far.Y_(2C)l_(3) was experimentally confirmed to be a semiconductor with a band gap of 1.14 eV.These results may help to promote the rational design and discovery of new electride materials for further technological applications.Biao Wan Yangfan Lu Zewen Xiao Yoshinori Muraba Junghwan Kim Dajian Huang Lailei Wu Huiyang Gou Jingwu Zhang Faming Gao Ho-kwang Mao Hideo Hosono 2018npj Computational Materials2018,,1:0
10DNA-assisted rational design of BaF_2 linear and erythrocyteshaped nanocrystals显示文摘The synthesis of inorganic materials with special morphologies with the assistance of biological molecules is a potential development in the field of controllable growth and assembly of nanomaterials. In this paper, BaF_2 nanocrystals in patterns of well-defined linear and erythrocyte-shaped structure were synthesized with the assistance of Escherichia coli DNA. Morphology and the arrangement of BaF_2 particles on DNA were controllable by altering the reaction condition. Square nanoparticles arranged in linear chains were gained with the assistance of normal DNA; while, erythrocyte-shaped BaF_2 nanospheres were synthesized with the assistance of denatured DNA. 11On-surface synthesis and characterization of polyynic carbon chains显示文摘Carbyne,an elusive sp-hybridized linear carbon allotrope,has fascinated chemists and physicists for decades.Due to its high chemical reactivity and extreme instability,carbyne was much less explored in contrast to the sp2-hybridized carbon allotropes such as graphene.Herein,we report the on-surface synthesis of polyynic carbon chains by demetallization of organometallic polyynes on the Au(111)surface;the longest one observed consists of∼60 alkyne units(120 carbon atoms).The polyynic structure of carbon chains with alternating triple and single bonds was unambiguously revealed by bond-resolved atomic force microscopy.Moreover,an atomically precise polyyne,C_(14),was successfully produced via tip-induced dehalogenation and ring-opening of the decachloroanthracene molecule(C_(14)Cl_(10))on a bilayer NaCl/Au(111)surface at 4.7 K,and a band gap of 5.8 eV was measured by scanning tunnelling spectroscopy,in a good agreement with the theoretical HOMO-LUMO gap(5.48 eV).Wenze Gao Wei Zheng Luye Sun Faming Kang Zheng Zhou Wei Xu 2024National Science Review2024,11,3:0
12Interfacial assembly of a series of Cu(Ⅱ)-coordinated Schiff bases complexes:Orderly nanostructures and supramolecular chirality显示文摘Four achiral Cu(Ⅱ)-coordinated Schiff bases complexes containing aromatic structures were synthesized and their supramolecular assemblies at the air/water interface were investigated.All the compounds could be spread on water surface although they have no alkyl chains.The Schiff base complex molecules with naphthyl groups tended to form J-aggregate in the Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films transferred from water surface.By investigation of atomic force microscopy,a multilayer film or three-dimensional structures were observed.It was interesting to note that the LB films of achiral compound Cu-NA with naphthyl segment and without methyl groups transferred from water surface showed chirality.The supramolecular chirality in the present LB films was suggested to be due to a cooperative stereoregular-stacking of the functional groups in a helical sense.This research work provides a helpful clue for regulating the nanostructures and supramolecular chiral assembly in organized films.JIAO TiFeng LI XuHui ZHANG QingRui LI QiuRong ZHOU JingXin GAO FaMing 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,1:0
13Bayesian Peak Picking for NMR Spectra显示文摘Protein structure determination is a very important topic in structural genomics,which helps people to understand varieties of biological functions such as protein-protein interactions,protein–DNA interactions and so on.Nowadays,nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) has often been used to determine the three-dimensional structures of protein in vivo.This study aims to automate the peak picking step,the most important and tricky step in NMR structure determination.We propose to model the NMR spectrum by a mixture of bivariate Gaussian densities and use the stochastic approximation Monte Carlo algorithm as the computational tool to solve the problem.Under the Bayesian framework,the peak picking problem is casted as a variable selection problem.The proposed method can automatically distinguish true peaks from false ones without preprocessing the data.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first effort in the literature that tackles the peak picking problem for NMR spectrum data using Bayesian method.Yichen Cheng Xin Gao Faming Liang 2014Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2014,12,1:0
14A universal synthesis of N,S,Cl-doped carbon materials directly from dye waste liquid for high performance lithium storage显示文摘The complicated structured dyes produced by the textile industry have become a serious problem in the last few decades,which can be attributed to their stable chemical structures and difficult to degrade.Therefore,in this article,we described a method to fix dye macromolecules by flocculation process and then transform the colloid to N,S,Cl-doped porous carbon materials.This material can effectively improve the capacity and cycle stability of lithium ion batteries,and recycle the dyes in the water.The N,S,Cl-doped porous carbon materials show a superior electrocatalytic performance of 473.5 mAhg^(−1) at the current density of 100 mAg^(−1) after 60 cycles.The present work combines the lithium ion batteries with dyes waste treatment and has a broad prospect for development.Junshuang Zhou Kuo Wei Lina Tian Zhuoran Hao Ying Bian Yuanzhe Wang Faming Gao 2021Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2021,3,2:0
15Simultaneous structure and luminescence property control of barium carbonate nanocrystals through small amount of lanthanide doping显示文摘Rare earth doping has been widely applied in many functional nanomaterials with desirable properties and functions,which would have a significant effect on the growth process of the materials.However,the controlling strategy is limited into high concentration of lanthanide doping,which produces concentration quenching of the lanthanide ion luminescence with an increase in the Ln^(3+)concentration,resulting in lowering the fluorescence quantum yield of lanthanide ion.Herein,for the first time,we demonstrate simultaneous control of the structures and luminescence properties of BaCO_3nanocrystals via a small amount of Tb^(3+)doping strategy.In fact,Tb^(3+)would partially occupy Ba^(2+)sites,resulting in the changes to the structures of the BaCO_3nanocrystals,which is primarily determined by charge modulation,including the contributions from the surfaces of crystal nuclei and building blocks.These structurally modified nanocrystals exhibit tunable luminescence properties,thus emerging as potential candidates for photonic devices such as light-emitting diodes and color displays.Jianmin Gu Zhenpan Bian Baipeng Yin Cuihong Jin Xin Liu Yahui Gao Jingxiao Wu Shoufeng Tang Faming Gao Yong Sheng Zhao 2017Science Bulletin2017,62,18:0
