1Emission of intermediate volatility organic compounds from a ship main engine burning heavy fuel oil显示文摘Intermediate volatility organic compounds(IVOCs)are crucial precursors of secondary organic aerosol(SOA).In this study,gaseous IVOCs emitted from a ship main engine burning heavy fuel oil(HFO)were investigated on a test bench,which could simulate the real-world operations and emissions of ocean-going ships.The chemical compositions,emission factors(EFs)and volatility distributions of IVOC emissions were investigated.The results showed that the main engine burning HFO emitted a large amount of IVOCs,with average IVOC EFs of 20.2-201 mg/kg-fuel.The IVOCs were mainly comprised of unspeciated compounds.The chemical compositions of exhaust IVOCs were different from that of HFO fuel,especially for polycyclic aromatic compounds and alkylcyclohexanes.The volatility distributions of IVOCs were also different between HFO exhausts and HFO fuel.The distinctions in IVOC emission characteristics between HFO exhausts and HFO fuel should be considered when assessing the IVOC emission and related SOA formation potentials from ocean-going ships burning HFO,especially when using fuel-surrogate models.Haijun Lou Yuejiao Hao Weiwei Zhang Penghao Su Fan Zhang Yingjun Chen Daolun Feng Yifan Li 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,10:5
2Microstructure and low cycle fatigue of a Ti2AlNb-based lightweight alloy显示文摘Ti2AlNb-based intermetallic compounds are considered as a new category of promising lightweight aerospace materials due to their balanced mechanical properties.The aim of this study was to evaluate monotonic and cyclic deformation behavior of an as-cast Ti-22A1-20Nb-2V-1Mo-0.25Si(at.%)intermetallic compound in relation to its microstructure.The alloy containing an abundant fine lamellar O-Ti2AlNb phase exhibited a good combination of strength and plasticity,and superb fatigue resistance in comparison with other intermetallic compounds.Cyclic stabilization largely remained except slight cyclic hardening occurring at higher strain amplitudes.While fatigue life could be described using the common Coffin-Mason-Basquin equation,it could be better predicted via a weighted energy-based approach.Fatigue crack growth was characterized mainly by crystallographic cracking,along with fatigue striationlike features being unique to appear in the intermetallics.The results obtained in this study lay the foundation for the safe and durable applications of Ti2AlNb-based lightweight intermetallic compounds.Yinling Zhang Aihan Feng Shoujiang Qu Jun Shen Daolun Chen 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,44,9:5
3Multiple α sub-variants and anisotropic mechanical properties of an additively-manufactured Ti-6Al-4V alloy显示文摘Additive manu facturing(AM)is a promising material processing method which gains significant momentum in the aerospace and biomedical industries.However,the anisotropy in the mechanical properties of additively-manufactured materials is still poorly understood.This study was aimed at elucidating crystallographic feature-anisotropy-mechanical property relationship for a Ti-6Al-4V alloy manufactured via selective electron beam melting(SEBM).Abundantαlamellae with six variants were present inside the columnar prior-βgrains with a<100>fiber texture duringβ→αphase transformation.The sixαvariants followed the Burgers orientation relationship of{110}_(β)//{0001}_(α)and<1-11>_(β)//<11-20>_(α).Multiple sub-variants in eachαvariant were observed for the first time.The anisotropy in the mechanical properties was mainly related to the relative amount of sixαvariants.While the horizontally-oriented samples had a lower yield strength,they exhibited a higher ductility and longer fatigue life than the vertically-oriented samples.Cyclic softening occurred at higher strain amplitudes,and cyclic stabilization sustained at lower strain amplitudes.Fatigue crack mainly initiated from the specimen surface at lower strain amplitudes,while multiple crack initiation tended to occur at higher strain amplitudes.Crack propagation was characterized by fatigue striations along with some secondary cracks.Yinling Zhang Zhuo Chen Shoujiang Qu Aihan Feng Guangbao Mi Jun Shen Xu Huang Daolun Chen 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,11:2
4Emissions of intermediate volatility organic compound from waste cooking oil biodiesel and marine gas oil on a ship auxiliary engine显示文摘Ship auxiliary engines contribute large amounts of air pollutants when at berth.Biodiesel,including that from waste cooking oil(WCO),can favor a reduction in the emission of primary pollutant when used with internal combustion engines.This study investigated the emissions of gaseous intermediate-volatile organic compounds(IVOCs)between WCO biodiesel and marine gas oil(MGO)to further understand the differences in secondary organic aerosol(SOA)production of exhausts.Results revealed that WCO exhaust exhibited similar IVOC composition and volatility distribution to MGO exhaust,despite the differences between fuel contents.While WCO biodiesel could reduce IVOC emissions by 50%as compared to MGO,and thus reduced the SOA production from IVOCs.The compositions and volatility distributions of exhaust IVOCs varied to those of their fuels,implying that fuel-component-based SOA predicting model should be used with more cautions when assessing SOA production of WCO and MGO exhausts.WCO biodiesel is a cleaner fuel comparing to conventional MGO on ship auxiliary engines with regard to the reductions in gaseous IVOC emissions and corresponding SOA productions.Although the tests were conducted on test bench,the results could be considered as representative due to the widely applications of the test engine and MGO fuel on real-world ships.Penghao Su Yuejiao Hao Zhe Qian Weiwei Zhang Jing Chen Fan Zhang Fang Yin Daolun Feng Yingjun Chen Yifan Li 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,5:2

9Enrichment of hydrogen in product gas from a pilot-scale rice husk updraft gasification system显示文摘An updraft gasifier was employed to treat 3 kg of dried rice husk per batch with different types of gasifying agents such as air,steam/air,and air with dolomite catalyst addition at various operating conditions.The H2 content,low heating value,and H2/CO ratio in syngas were compared to determine the most effective solution to enhance the H2 production from rice husk gasification.The presence of dolomite in air gasification produced the highest H2 content in the product gas,up to 15.4 mol%,followed by 7.08 and 3.6 mol%when steam/air and air standalone were used as gasifying agents,respectively.The higher low heating value of syngas 5.1 MJ/Nm3 was observed in catalytic air gasification compared to 3.6 MJ/Nm3 when steam was added.The optimal operation condition was reported at an airflow rate of 3 m3/h and a catalyst mixing ratio of 15%.Phan Dinh Tuan Le Minh Quan Vo Trang Nhi Hoang Minh Huong Le Thi Kim Phung Daolun Feng 2022Carbon Resources Conversion2022,5,3:0
