1Combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy for colon cancer in China: A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether autologous dendritic cell(DC)-cytokine-induced killer(CIK)cell therapy is able to improve the therapeutic efficacy of chemotherapy in colon cancer.METHODS:We conducted a systematic review of published papers from the sources of MEDLINE,the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,EMBASE,the Wanfang Database,the China Science and Technology Periodical Database and China Journal Net.Published data were extracted independently by two authors using predefined database templates.The quality of the data from individual papers was also assessed.The effects of chemotherapy were compared with those of chemotherapy in combination with DC-CIK immunotherapy.The pooled analysis was performed using the data from random or fixed-effect models.RESULTS:Seven trials matched our inclusion criteria(n=533).The overall analysis showed significant survival benefit[one-year overall survival(OS),P<0.0001;twoyear OS,P=0.009;three-year OS,P=0.002]in favor of DC-CIK immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy.Disease-free survival(DFS)rate was improved after the combination of DC-CIK immunotherapy and chemotherapy(one-year DFS,P<0.0001;two-year DFS,P=0.002;three-year DFS,P=0.02).An improved overall response rate(P=0.009)was also observed in patients who received DC-CIK therapy.Furthermore,the analysis of T-lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood indicated that the number of CD4+T cells significantly increased in the DC-CIK plus chemotherapy group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The combination of DC-CIK immunotherapy and chemotherapy was superior in prolonging the survival time and enhancing immunological responses.Zheng-Xu Wang Jun-Xia Cao Zhi-Ping Liu Yu-Xin Cui Chun-Yun Li Duo Li Xiao-Yan Zhang Jin-Long Liu Jun-Li Li 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,4:30
2N and P resorption in a pioneer shrub(Artemisia halodendron) inhabiting severely desertified lands of Northern China显示文摘Nutrient resorption is an important conservation mechanism for plants to overcome nutrient limitation in the less fertile area of desertified land.In the semi-arid Horqin Sandy Land of Northern China,the shrub Artemisia halodendron usually colonizes into the bare ground of severely desertified land as a pioneer species.It is,therefore,expected that A.halodendron will be less dependent on current nutrient uptake through efficient and proficient resorption of nutrients.In this study,we found that averaged nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)concentrations in senesced leaves significantly varied from 12.3 and 1.2 mg/g in the shifting sand dune to 15.9 and 1.9 mg/g in the fixed sand dune,respectively,suggesting that foliar N and P resorption of A.halodendron were more proficient in the shifting sand dune.In particular,positive relationships between nutrient concentrations in senesced leaves and soil nutrient availability indicate that A.halodendron in infertile habitats is more likely to manage with a low level of nutrients in senesced leaves,giving this species an advantage in infertile soil.Moreover,foliar N-and P-resorption efficiencies and proficiencies showed limited inter-annual variability although annual precipitation varied greatly among 2007–2009.However,N and P resorption of A.halodendron were not more efficient and proficient than those previously reported for other shrubs,indicating that the pioneer shrub in sand dune environments does not rely more heavily than other plants on the process of resorption to conserve nutrients.Incomplete resorption of nutrients in A.halodendron suggests that senesced-leaf fall would return litter with high quality to the soil,and thereby would indirectly improve soil nutrient availability.The restoration of desertified land,therefore,may be accelerated after A.halodendron pioneers into shifting sand dunes.YuLin LI Chen JING Wei MAO Duo CUI XinYuan WANG XueYong ZHAO 2014Journal of Arid Land2014,6,2:11
3Observations of atmospheric pollutants at Lhasa during 2014-2015:Pollution status and the influence of meteorological factors显示文摘Atmospheric pollutants including SO_2, NO_2, CO, O_3 and inhalable particulate matter(PM2.5 and PM10) were monitored continuously from March 2014 to February 2015 to investigate characteristics of air pollution at Lhasa, Tibetan Plateau. Species exhibited similar seasonal variations except O_3, with the peaks in winter but low valleys in summer. The maximum O_3 concentration was observed in spring, followed by summer, autumn, and winter. The positive correlation between O_3 and PM10 in spring indicated similar sources of them, and was assumed to be turbulent transport. Temperature was the dominant meteorological factor for most species in spring. High temperature accelerates O_3 photochemistry, and favors air disturbance which is conductive to dust resuspension in spring. Relative humidity(RH) and atmospheric pressure were the main meteorological factors in summer. RH showed negative correlations with species, while atmospheric pressure posed opposite situation. Wind speed(WS) was the dominant meteorological factor in autumn, the negative correlations between WS and species indicated diffusion by wind. Most species showed non-significant correlations with meteorological factors in winter, indicating the dependence of pollution on source emission rather than restriction by meteorology. Pollution weather character indicated that emissions were from biomass burning and dust suspension, and meteorological factors also played an important role. Air stream injection from the stratosphere was observed during O_3 pollution period. Air parcels from Southwest Asia were observed during air pollution period in winter. 5Altitude of the upper boundary of AAR based on observations of ion beams in inverted-V structures:A case study显示文摘Outflowing ion beams forming four successive inverted-V structures in the energy-time spectrograms of H+, He+, and O+ were observed at an altitude of 3.4 RE by Cluster satellites travelling above the auroral acceleration region (AAR) in the southern hemisphere on February 14, 2001. Energization by negative U-shaped potential structures in the AAR is believed to be responsible for the formation of these outflowing ion inverted-V structures. Thus, utilizing the different motion properties of the three ion species, the altitude of the upper boundary of the AAR is estimated to be ~11100 km. 6Shape control technology during electrochemical synthesis of gold nanoparticles显示文摘Gold nanoparticles with different shapes and sizes were prepared by adding gold precursor (HAuCl4) to an electrolyzed aqueous solution of poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) and KNO3 , which indicates the good reducing capacity of the PVP-containing solution after being treated by electrolysis. Using a catholyte and an anolyte as the reducing agents for HAuCl4 , respectively, most gold nanoparticles were spherical particles in the former case but plate-like particles in the latter case. The change in the pH value of electrolytes caused by the electrolysis of water would be the origin of the differences in shape and morphology of gold nanoparticles. A hypothesis of the H+ or OH- catalyzed PVP degradation mechanism was proposed to interpret why the pH value played a key role in determining the shape or morphology of gold nanoparticles. 9Exploring the potential to enhance drug distribution in the brain subregion via intranasal delivery of nanoemulsion in combination with borneol as a guider显示文摘The number of people with Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is increasing annually,with the nidus mainly concentrated in the cortex and hippocampus.Despite of numerous efforts,effective treatment of AD is still facing great challenges due to the blood brain barrier(BBB)and limited drug distribution in the AD nidus sites.Thus,in this study,using vinpocetine(VIN)as a model drug,the objective is to explore the feasibility of tackling the above bottleneck via intranasal drug delivery in combination with a brain guider,borneol(BOR),using nanoemulsion(NE)as the carrier.First of all,the NE were prepared and characterized.In vivo behavior of the NE after intranasal administration was investigated.Influence of BOR dose,BOR administration route on drug brain targeting behavior was evaluated,and the influence of BOR addition on drug brain subregion distribution was probed.It was demonstrated that all the NE had comparable size and similar retention behavior after intranasal delivery.Compared to intravenous injection,improved brain targeting effect was observed by intranasal route,and drug targeting index(DTI)of the VIN–NE group was 154.1%,with the nose-to-brain direct transport percentage(DTP)35.1%.Especially,remarkably enhanced brain distribution was achieved after BOR addition in the NE,with the extent depending on BOR dose.VIN brain concentration was the highest in the VIN-1-BOR-NE group at BOR dose of 1 mg/kg,with the DTI reaching 596.1%and the DTP increased to 83.1%.BOR could exert better nose to brain delivery when administrated together with the drug via intranasal route.Notably,BOR can remarkably enhance drug distribution in both hippocampus and cortex,the nidus areas of AD.In conclusion,in combination with intranasal delivery and the intrinsic brain guiding effect of BOR,drug distribution not only in the brain but also in the cortex and hippocampus can be enhanced significantly,providing the perquisite for improved therapeutic efficacy of AD.Xin Shen Zhixiang Cui Yidan Wei Yingnan Huo Duo Yu Xin Zhang Shirui Mao 2023Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2023,18,6:1

13Intramolecular hydrogen bonds in a single macromolecule:Strength in high vacuum versus liquid environments显示文摘As a weak non-covalent interaction,hydrogen bond(H-bond)is highly susceptible to the environmental interference.However,the direct quantification of a single H-bond under an interference-free condition is still a challenge.Herein,the intramolecular H-bond in a model system,poly(N-isopropylacrylamide),is studied in high vacuum by single-molecule atomic force microscopy and steered molecular dynamics simulations,which allows the precise quantification of H-bond strength in an interference-free state.Control experiments show that the H-bond is significantly weakened in nonpolar solvent,even if the dielectric constant is very close to vacuum.If a polar solvent is used as the environment,the H-bond will be further weaker or even broken.These results imply that for experiments in any liquid environment,the H-bond strength(△G)will be only -50% or even less of that measured in vacuum.Further analysis shows that in liquid environments,AG decays in a quasi-linear way with the increase of the dielectric constant(ε).For H-bond studies in future,the result measured in vacuum can be set as the standard value,namely,the inherent strength.This approach will provide fundamental insights into the H-bond participated nano-structures and materials in different environments.Wanhao Cai Duo Xu Fa Zhang Junhao Wei Song Lu Linmao Qian Zhongyuan Lu Shuxun Cui 2022Nano Research2022,15,2:0
14Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound reduces alveolar bone resorption during orthodontic treatment via Lamin A/C-Yes-associated protein axis in stem cells显示文摘BACKGROUND The bone remodeling during orthodontic treatment for malocclusion often requires a long duration of around two to three years,which also may lead to some complications such as alveolar bone resorption or tooth root resorption.Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound(LIPUS),a noninvasive physical therapy,has been shown to promote bone fracture healing.It is also reported that LIPUS could reduce the duration of orthodontic treatment;however,how LIPUS regulates the bone metabolism during the orthodontic treatment process is still unclear.AIM To investigate the effects of LIPUS on bone remodeling in an orthodontic tooth movement(OTM)model and explore the underlying mechanisms.METHODS A rat model of OTM was established,and alveolar bone remodeling and tooth movement rate were evaluated via micro-computed tomography and staining of tissue sections.In vitro,human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(hBMSCs)were isolated to detect their osteogenic differentiation potential under compression and LIPUS stimulation by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction,Western blot,alkaline phosphatase(ALP)staining,and Alizarin red staining.The expression of Yes-associated protein(YAP1),the actin cytoskeleton,and the Lamin A/C nucleoskeleton were detected with or without YAP1 small interfering RNA(siRNA)application via immunofluorescence.RESULTS The force treatment inhibited the osteogenic differentiation potential of hBMSCs;moreover,the expression of osteogenesis markers,such as type 1 collagen(COL1),runt-related transcription factor 2,ALP,and osteocalcin(OCN),decreased.LIPUS could rescue the osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs with increased expression of osteogenic marker inhibited by force.Mechanically,the expression of LaminA/C,F-actin,and YAP1 was downregulated after force treatment,which could be rescued by LIPUS.Moreover,the osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs increased by LIPUS could be attenuated by YAP siRNA treatment.Consistently,LIPUS increased alveolar bone density and decreased vertical bone absorption in vivo.The decreased expression of COL1,OCN,and YAP1 on the compression side of the alveolar bone was partially rescued by LIPUS.CONCLUSION LIPUS can accelerate tooth movement and reduce alveolar bone resorption by modulating the cytoskeleton-Lamin A/C-YAP axis,which may be a promising strategy to reduce the orthodontic treatment process.Tong Wu Fu Zheng Hong-Yi Tang Hua-Zhi Li Xin-Yu Cui Shuai Ding Duo Liu Cui-Ying Li Jiu-Hui Jiang Rui-Li Yang 2024World Journal of Stem Cells2024,16,3:0
15Infection of SARS-CoV-2 causes severe pathological changes in mouse testis显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARSCoV-2),has affected more than 600 million people worldwide.Several organs including lung,intestine,and brain are infected by SARS-CoV-2.It has been reported that SARS-CoV-2 receptor angiotensin-converting enzyme-2(ACE2)is expressed in human testis.However,whether testis is also affected by SARS-CoV-2 is still unclear.In this study,we generate a human ACE2(hACE2)transgenic mouse model in which the expression of hACE2 gene is regulated by hACE2 promoter.Sertoli and Leydig cells from hACE2 transgenic mice can be infected by SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus in vitro,and severe pathological changes are observed after injecting the SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus into the seminiferous tubules.Further studies reveal that Sertoli and Leydig cells from hACE2 transgenic mice are also infected by authentic SARS-CoV-2 virus in vitro.After testis interstitium injection,authentic SARS-CoV-2 viruses are first disseminated to the interstitial cells,and then detected inside the seminiferous tubules which in turn cause germ cell loss and disruption of seminiferous tubules.Our study demonstrates that testis is most likely a target of SARS-CoV-2 virus.Attention should be paid to the reproductive function in SARS-CoV-2 patients.Min Chen Shihua Li Shujun Liu Yuhang Zhang Xiuhong Cui Limin Lv Bowen Liu Aihua Zheng Qihui Wang Shuguang Duo Fei Gao 2023Journal of Genetics and Genomics2023,50,2:0

18A comprehensive survey on Segment Routing Traffic Engineering显示文摘Traffic Engineering(TE)enables management of traffic in a manner that optimizes utilization of network resources in an efficient and balanced manner.However,existing TE solutions face issues relating to scalability and complexity.In recent years,Segment Routing(SR)has emerged as a promising source routing paradigm.As one of the most important applications of SR,Segment Routing Traffic Engineering(SR-TE),which enables a headend to steer traffic along specific paths represented as ordered lists of instructions called segment lists,has the capability to overcome the above challenges due to its flexibility and scalability.In this paper,we conduct a comprehensive survey on SR-TE.A thorough review of SR-TE architecture is provided in the first place,reviewing the core components and implementation of SR-TE such as SR Policy,Flexible Algorithm and SR-native algorithm.Strengths of SR-TE are also discussed,as well as its major challenges.Next,we dwell on the recent SR-TE researches on routing optimization with various intents,e.g.,optimization on link utilization,throughput,QoE(Quality of Experience)and energy consumption.Afterwards,node management for SR-TE are investigated,including SR node deployment and candidate node selection.Finally,we discuss the existing challenges of current research activities and propose several research directions worth of future exploration.Duo Wu Lin Cui 2023Digital Communications and Networks2023,9,4:0
19Microstructure and cellular transition characteristic of Ti-42Al-3Nb-1Mo-0.1B alloy显示文摘The microstructure and cellular transition characteristics of an intermetallic Ti-42Al-3Nb-1Mo-0.1B (at.%) alloy were investigated.The as-cast microstructure of the alloy is mainly composed of (α2+γ) lamellar structure and (β+γ) mixture structure,which distributes along the boundaries of the lamellar colonies.In order to study the phase transformation of lamellar structure at aging temperature,a two-step heat treatment was carried out.After the first step of annealing treatment at 1,260 °C,the microstructure with relatively finer lamellar space and (γ+β/B2) mixture structure is obtained.Aging treatment,as the second heat treatment step,has significant influence on the microstructure,attributing to a cellular reaction of α2+γ→γ+β.With the increase of aging temperature,the (α2+γ) lamellar structure continues to dissolve,whereas the contents of both the equiaxed γ and β/B2 grains continuously increase.Besides,the orientation of lamellae α2,equiaxed γ and equiaxed β/B2 in the cellular transition region follows a specific relationship of {0-11}β<1-11>β//{0001}α2<2-1-10>α2//{1-11}γ<-101>γ.Hong Feng Qi-bin Wang Shu-zhi Zhang Chang-jiang Zhang Fu-yin Han Ning Cui Dong-dong Zhu Duo Dong 2020China Foundry2020,17,6:0
20Simultaneous characterization of the atmospheres,surfaces,and exomoons of nearby rocky exoplanets显示文摘Atmospheric composition is an important indicator of habitability and life.The presence or absence of a large exomoon around an Earth-size exoplanet could have important consequences for planet climate stability.Thus the detection of exomoons and retrieval of information regarding atmospheric composition of Earth-size exoplanets are important goals of future exoplanet observations.Here a data analysis method is developed to achieve both goals simultaneously,based on reflection spectra of exoplanet-exomoon systems.We show that the existence of exomoons,the size of exomoons,and the concentrations of some atomic and molecular species in the atmospheres of their hosting Earth-like exoplanets can be retrieved with high levels of reliability.In addition,the method can provide well-constrained fractions of basic surface types on the targets because of the characteristic spectral features of atmospheric species and surface types in the analyzed spectral range.WenLiang Cui JinSu Zhang Frederic Schmidt Duo Cui XiaoMeng Huang Tong Li Feng Tian 2018Earth and Planetary Physics2018,2,3:0
