1Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI versus ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT: Which is better in differentiation between malignant and benign solitary pulmonary nodules?显示文摘Objective: To prospectively compare the discriminative capacity of dynamic contrast enhanced-magnetic resonance imaging(DCE-MRI) with that of ^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose(^(18)F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT) in the differentiation of malignant and benign solitary pulmonary nodules(SPNs).Methods: Forty-nine patients with SPNs were included in this prospective study. Thirty-two of the patients had malignant SPNs, while the other 17 had benign SPNs. All these patients underwent DCE-MRI and ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT examinations. The quantitative MRI pharmacokinetic parameters, including the trans-endothelial transfer constant(K^(trans)), redistribution rate constant(K_(ep)), and fractional volume(Ve), were calculated using the Extended-Tofts Linear two-compartment model. The ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT parameter, maximum standardized uptake value(SUV_(max)), was also measured. Spearman's correlations were calculated between the MRI pharmacokinetic parameters and the SUV_(max) of each SPN. These parameters were statistically compared between the malignant and benign nodules. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) analyses were used to compare the diagnostic capability between the DCE-MRI and ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT indexes.Results: Positive correlations were found between K^(trans) and SUV_(max), and between K_(ep) and SUV_(max)(P<0.05).There were significant differences between the malignant and benign nodules in terms of the K^(trans), K_(ep) and SUV_(max) values(P<0.05). The areas under the ROC curve(AUC) of K^(trans), K_(ep) and SUV_(max) between the malignant and benign nodules were 0.909, 0.838 and 0.759, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity in differentiating malignant from benign SPNs were 90.6% and 82.4% for K^(trans); 87.5% and 76.5% for K_(ep); and 75.0% and 70.6%for SUV_(max), respectively. 2Chemical formation and source apportionment of PM_(2.5) at an urban site at the southern foot of the Taihang mountains显示文摘The region along the Taihang Mountains in the North China Plain(NCP) is characterized by serious fine particle pollution. To clarify the formation mechanism and controlling factors, an observational study was conducted to investigate the physical and chemical properties of the fine particulate matter in Jiaozuo city, China. Mass concentrations of the water-soluble ions(WSIs) in PM_(2.5) and gaseous pollutant precursors were measured on an hourly basis from December 1, 2017, to February 27, 2018. The positive matrix factorization(PMF) method and the FLEXible PARTicle(FLEXPART) model were employed to identify the sources of PM_(2.5). The results showed that the average mass concentration of PM_(2.5) was 111 μg/m^(3) during the observation period. Among the major WSIs, sulfate, nitrate, and ammonium(SNA) constituted 62% of the total PM_(2.5) mass, and NO_(3)^(-) ranked the highest with an average contribution of 24.6%. NH_(4)^(+) was abundant in most cases in Jiaozuo. According to chemical balance analysis, SO_(2)-4, NO_(3)^(-), and Cl^(-) might be present in the form of(NH_4)_(2)SO_4, NH_4NO_3, NH_4Cl, and KCl. The liquid-phase oxidation of SO_(2) and NO_(2) was severe during the haze period. The relative humidity and pH were the key factors influencing SO_(4)^(2-) formation. We found that NO_(3)^(-) mainly stemmed from homogeneous gas-phase reactions in the daytime and originated from the hydrolysis of N_(2)O_5 in the nighttime, which was inconsistent with previous studies. 3Preparation and flexural properties of biomimetic laminated boards made from starch and maize stalk fiber显示文摘In this study,maize stalk tegument separated from the maize pith was crushed to obtain the fiber.The cross-linking maize starch adhesives considering four main factors(water content,gelatinization temperature,NaOH as gelatinization agent and Na2B4O7·10H2O as cross-linking agent)with three levels were prepared based on an orthogonal test scheme L9(34)in order to increase the water-resisting property and the bonding strength of the common maize starch adhesives.The bonding properties of maize starch adhesives were characterized using shearing strength under compression loading.Physical models of fiber reinforced composites were established according to the microstructure analysis of the four species of insects’elytra including Protaetia orentalis,Copris ochus Motschulsky,Anoplophora chinensis and Cytister bengalensis Aube,which will provide the biomimetic models for the biomimetic laminated boards.The maize stalk fiber biomimetic laminated boards were prepared based on the structural models of the elytra material.The flexural strength and flexural elastic modulus of the biomimetic boards were examined.The results showed that the flexural strengths of the single layer jute fiber,-reinforced maize stalk fiber boards and the dual layer jute fiber reinforced maize stalk fiber boards are higher than those of the common maize stalk fiber boards and the other three groups of jute fiber hybrid reinforced stalk fiber boards because of the biomimetic laminated design.Zhang Fu Wu Na Tong Jin Zhou Jiang Yang Xin Ma Yunhai Chen Donghui Sun Jiyu 2009International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2009,2,2:3
4Improved mechanical, degradation, and biological performances of Zn–Fe alloys as bioresorbable implants显示文摘Zinc(Zn)is a promising bioresorbable implant material with more moderate degradation rate compared to magnesium(Mg)and iron(Fe).However,the low mechanical strength and localized degradation behavior of pure Zn limit its clinical applications.Alloying is one of the most effective ways to overcome these limitations.After screening the alloying element candidates regarding their potentials for improvement on the degradation and biocompatibility,we proposed Fe as the alloying element for Zn,and investigated the in vitro and in vivo performances of these alloys in both subcutaneous and femoral tissues.Results showed that the uniformly distributed secondary phase in Zn–Fe alloys significantly improved the mechanical property and facilitated uniform degradation,which thus enhanced their biocompatibility,especially the Zn-0.4Fe alloy.Moreover,these Zn–Fe alloys showed outstanding antibacterial property.Taken together,Zn–Fe alloys could be promising can-didates as bioresorbable medical implants for various cardiovascular,wound closure,and orthopedic applications.Yingchao Su Jiayin Fu Wonsae Lee Shaokang Du Yi-Xian Qin Yufeng Zheng Yadong Wang Donghui Zhu 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,11:3

7Realizing compact three-dimensional charge transport networks of asymmetric electron acceptors for efficient organic solar cells显示文摘Asymmetry has been demonstrated an effective approach in recent years to tune the structural and energetic orders of nonfullerene electron acceptors(NFAs)to prepare efficient organic solar cells(OSCs).In this article,five asymmetric NFAs,namely C9BTP-BO-Th Cl-2F,C9BTP-BO-Cl-2F,C9BTP-BO-2Cl-2F,C7BTP-BO-2Cl-2F and C5BTP-BO-2Cl-2F possessing varied asymmetric end-groups and alkyl chains are synthesized to tune the charge transport networks formed within these NFAs.We found that the enhanced planarity in the asymmetric NFA can facilitate closerπ-πstacking distance in either the A-to-A or A-toD type NFA dimers,whilst the larger dipole moment can promote the formation of three-dimensional(3D)charge transport networks among NFAs.Taking those advantages,C7BTP-BO-2Cl-2F exhibit a compact 3D honeycomb network with a high packing coefficient of 72.1%and molecular packing density of 0.48 g/cm^(3),contributing to a superior power conversion efficiency of 18.0%when employing PM6 as the donor,with an open-circuit voltage of 0.85 V,short-circuit current of26.7 m A cm^(-2)and fill factor of 79.3%.Our work provides guidelines in engineering the end group and side chains of asymmetric NFAs to achieve compact charge transport networks for high efficiency OSCs.Jinlong Cai Yiwei Fu Chuanhang Guo Donghui Li Liang Wang Chen Chen Dan Liu Wei Li Tao Wang 2023Science China Chemistry2023,66,2:1

10Construction of a high-density mutant population of Chinese cabbage facilitates the genetic dissection of agronomic traits显示文摘Chinese cabbage(Brassica rapa ssp.pekinensis)is an economically important vegetable crop throughout the world,especially in Asia.High-quality genome sequences are available for Chinese cabbage,but gene functional studies remain challenging.To promote functional genomic studies of Chinese cabbage,we generated an ethyl methane sulfonate(EMS)mutant population of~8000 M_(2) plants using the double haploid inbred line A03 as the parent.The genome of A03 was sequenced and used as a reference for high-throughput functional characterization of gene mutations at the whole-genome level.A total of 300 M_(2) to M_(5) EMS mutants were phenotypically screened and then sequenced,revealing 750629 SNPs and 46272 InDel mutations that cover 98.27%of all predicted genes in the A03 genome.A forward-genetics approach was successfully used to identify two genes with chloroplast-related functions that are responsible for the yellow leaf mutant trait.A reverse-genetics approach was also used to identify associations between mutations in five genes of the glucosinolate biosynthetic pathway and variations in glucosinolate content of the mutant plants.In addition,we built the Chinese cabbage EMS mutation database(CCEMD,www.bioinformaticslab.cn/EMSmutation/home)to increase the usability of this mutant population resource.In summary,we performed large-scale screening of a heading Chinese cabbage EMS mutant collection at the phenotypic and genotypic levels,which will facilitate gene mining of Chinese cabbage and might also be useful for the study of other Brassica crops.Xiaoxue Sun Xing Li Yin Lu Shan Wang Xiaomeng Zhang Kang Zhang Xiangjie Su Mengyang Liu Daling Feng Shuangxia Luo Aixia Gu Yu Fu Xueping Chen Shuxin Xuan Yanhua Wang Donghui Xu Shumin Chen Wei Ma Shuxing Shen Feng Cheng Jianjun Zhao 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,5:1

13Improving Ultrasonic Testing by Using Machine Learning Framework Based on Model Interpretation Strategy显示文摘Ultrasonic testing(UT)is increasingly combined with machine learning(ML)techniques for intelligently identifying damage.Extracting signifcant features from UT data is essential for efcient defect characterization.Moreover,the hidden physics behind ML is unexplained,reducing the generalization capability and versatility of ML methods in UT.In this paper,a generally applicable ML framework based on the model interpretation strategy is proposed to improve the detection accuracy and computational efciency of UT.Firstly,multi-domain features are extracted from the UT signals with signal processing techniques to construct an initial feature space.Subsequently,a feature selection method based on model interpretable strategy(FS-MIS)is innovatively developed by integrating Shapley additive explanation(SHAP),flter method,embedded method and wrapper method.The most efective ML model and the optimal feature subset with better correlation to the target defects are determined self-adaptively.The proposed framework is validated by identifying and locating side-drilled holes(SDHs)with 0.5λcentral distance and different depths.An ultrasonic array probe is adopted to acquire FMC datasets from several aluminum alloy specimens containing two SDHs by experiments.The optimal feature subset selected by FS-MIS is set as the input of the chosen ML model to train and predict the times of arrival(ToAs)of the scattered waves emitted by adjacent SDHs.The experimental results demonstrate that the relative errors of the predicted ToAs are all below 3.67%with an average error of 0.25%,signifcantly improving the time resolution of UT signals.On this basis,the predicted ToAs are assigned to the corresponding original signals for decoupling overlapped pulse-echoes and reconstructing high-resolution FMC datasets.The imaging resolution is enhanced to 0.5λby implementing the total focusing method(TFM).The relative errors of hole depths and central distance are no more than 0.51%and 3.57%,respectively.Finally,the superior performance of the proposed FS-MIS is validated by comparing it with initial feature space and conventional dimensionality reduction techniques.Siqi Shi Shijie Jin Donghui Zhang Jingyu Liao Dongxin Fu Li Lin 2023Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2023,36,5:0

15EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS ON SOFT MATERIAL CONTACT PROBLEMS BY DIGITAL MOIR AND EMBEDDED-GRATING METHODS显示文摘Soft material is becoming increasingly important to many industries, which leads to the demand for a better understanding of its mechanical properties under large deformation. In this paper, a technique of integrating the digital moiré method and embedded-grating approach is presented for investigating mechanical behaviors of a vulcanized silicone rubber in contact with a wedge-shaped indenter. Two distinct deformation sectors are observed from the experimental result. A simple way of computing strain is also presented by analysing grid deformation within the framework of geometrical nonlinearity. Three regions were observed from strain distribution along the horizontal direction: the contact region, the sink-in region and the far-field region.Moreover, the extent of the sticky region and that of the slippy region within the contact interface are distinguished, which can provide realistic data for theoretical modelling. 19Effects of non-procedural factors in Brassica napus genetic transformation显示文摘Rapeseed (Brassica napus) is the second largest oil crop in the world. However, transformation efficiency of rapeseed still needs to be improved. To evaluate non-procedural factors (e.g. explants, section of explant, marker genes and number of exogenous genes) effects on transformation efficiency, 6-day-old hypocotyl explants from in vitro grown seedlings were co-cultivated with Agrobacterium strain GV3101 harboring a binary vector using optimized transformation procedure. Results showed that normal maturing variety ‘Zhongshuang 6 (ZS6)’ had the highest overall capacity to produce rooted shoots among 5 common varieties and 6 early maturing varieties, with green callus induction rate 81.45% and shoot regeneration rate 21.66%. Early maturing variety 14M645 has relatively high regeneration rate (4.69%) and one of the shortest growth periods (107.54 d). Data showed that choosing neomycin phosphotransferase II gene (NPTII) as selectable marker led to the best transformation rate (17.38%). Selecting upper hypocotyl segments near cotyledon as explant provided the higest transformation efficiency, with regeneration rate of 25.59% when using NPTII as selectable marker and 22.19% for Bar. B. napus transformed with single gene showed higher transformation frequency than vectors with multiple genes,highlighting difficulty of multiple gene transformation. 20Determination of Breeding Target and Marginal Benefit Calculation of New Type of Shuxuan Beef Cattle显示文摘[Objectives]To make targeted breeding of new type of Shuxuan beef cattle,study and determine the breeding target traits of new type of Shuxuan beef cattle.[Methods]The difference method was used to calculate the marginal benefit of each target trait,and the economic weight of the corresponding breeding target trait was obtained.[Results]The marginal benefits of weaning weight,fattening daily gain,18-month weight,carcass quality,dressing percentage,pure meat percentage,age at first calving,calving interval and stay group time were 35.86,13.76,13.05,421.96,375.55,22.58,-4.45,-27.53,and 1555.24,respectively.The relative economic weight ratio of growth traits,carcass traits,and reproductive traits was close to 4∶1∶5.Through marginal benefit analysis,the economic benefits obtained by improving carcass quality,dressing percentage and stay group time were significantly higher than other traits.[Conclusions]It is expected to provide a theoretic basis for establishing the target trait selection indicators for the new type of Shuxuan beef cattle.Wei WANG Yi SHI Fang HE Jia GAN Donghui FANG Maozhong FU Xiaodong DENG Suqun ZHAN Zhimin LIAO Cheng GUI Bin WANG Jun YI 2021Asian Agricultural Research2021,13,4:0
