Optical coherence tomography angiography for the anterior segment显示文摘Optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)is a rapid and non-invasive technique for imaging vasculature in the eye.As OCTA can produce high-resolution cross-sectional images and allow depth-resolved analysis for accurate localization of pathology of interest,it has become a promising method for anterior segment imaging.Furthermore,OCTA offers a more patient-friendly alternative to the conventional invasive dye-based fluorescent angiography. However, conventional OCTA systems are typically designed and optimized for the posterior segment of the eye,and thus using OCTA for anterior segment imaging can present several difficulties and limitations. In this review,we summarized the recent developments and clinical applications in anterior segment OCTA(AS-OCTA)imaging,such as for the cornea, iris, sclera and conjunctiva. We also compared commercially available OCTA systems, discussed the limitations of adapting current OCTA technology for the anterior segment imaging, and proposed possible future directions for AS-OCTA systems.AS-OCTA provides potential for future clinical applications such as diagnosis of corneal and iris pathologies,pre-operative surgical planning, assessment of new antiangiogenic therapeutics or evaluation of limbal stem cell deficiency. With further development,OCTA for anterior segment imaging in the clinics may become common in the near future. | Wen Di Lee Kavya Devarajan Jacqueline Chua Leopold Schmetterer Jodhbir S.Mehta Marcus Ang | 2019 | Eye and Vision2019,6,1: | 9
Optical coherence tomography angiography in diabetic retinopathy: a review of current applications显示文摘Background:Diabetic retinopathy(DR)is a leading cause of vision loss in adults.Currently, the standard imaging technique to monitor and prognosticate DR and diabetic maculopathy is dye-based angiography. With the introduction of optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA),it may serve as a potential rapid,non-invasive imaging modality as an adjunct.Main text:Recent studies on the role of OCTA in DR include the use of vascular parameters e.g.,vessel density, intercapillary spacing, vessel diameter index, length of vessels based on skeletonised OCTA,the total length of vessels, vascular architecture and area of the foveal avascular zone. These quantitative measures may be able to detect changes with the severity and progress of DR for clinical research.OCTA may also serve as a non-invasive imaging method to detect diabetic macula ischemia, which may help predict visual prognosis. However, there are many limitations of OCTA in DR,such as difficulty in segmentation between superficial and deep capillary plexus;and its use in diabetic macula edema where the presence of cystic spaces may affect image results.Future applications of OCTA in the anterior segment include detection of anterior segment ischemia and iris neovascularisation associated with proliferative DR and risk of neovascular glaucoma. Conclusion:OCTA may potentially serve as a useful non-invasive imaging tool in the diagnosis and monitoring of diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy in the future.Future studies may demonstrate how quantitative OCTA measures may have a role in detecting early retinal changes in patients with diabetes. | Kai Yuan Tey Kelvin Teo Anna C.S.Tan Kavya Devarajan Bingyao Tan Jacqueline Tan Leopold Schmetterer Marcus Ang | 2019 | Eye and Vision2019,6,1: | 6

Green synthesis and characterization of palladium nanoparticles and its conjugates from solanum trilobatum leaf extract显示文摘An important area of research in nanotechnology deals with the synthesis of nanoparticles of different chemical compositions, sizes and controlled monodispersity.Currently, there is a growing need to develop environmentally benign nanoparticle synthesis in which no toxic chemicals are used in the synthesis protocol.Palladium nanoparticles(Pd Np) are of interest because of their catalytic properties and affinity for hydrogen. Our protocol for the phyto-synthesis of Pd Np under moderate p H and room temperature offers a new means to develop environmentally benign nanoparticles.Solanum trilobatum is enlightened in our present study as it is enriched with phytochemicals to reduce palladium chloride ions.Poly MVA a dietary supplement based on the nontoxic chemotherapeutic lipoic acid-palladium complex(LA-Pd) is been hypothesized as the new paradigm of cancer therapy.Hence forth we successfully conjugated lipoic acid(S-Pd Np-LA) and vitamins(S-Pd Np-Vitamin-LA) to palladium nanoparticles synthesised from Solanum trilobatum leaf extract. These nanoparticles(S-Pd Np,S-Pd Np-LA,S-Pd Np-Vitamin-LA) were characterized with UV-Vis Spectroscopy,SEM and FTIR analysis, which revealed that S-Pd Np are polydisperse and of different morphologies ranging from 60?70 nm(S-Pd Np),65?80 nm(S-Pd Np-LA) and 75?100 nm(S-Pd Np-Vitamin-LA) in size. | Amarnath Kanchana Saveetha Devarajan Senniyanallur Rathakrishnan Ayyappan | 2010 | Nano-Micro Letters2010,2,3: | 4
Emission and performance analysis of a diesel engine burning cashew nut shell oil bio diesel mixed with hexanol显示文摘In this study, the effect of doping hexanol into biodiesel which is from neat cashew nut shell biodiesel oil on the emissions and the performance characteristics was studied in a constant speed diesel engine. The main purpose of this work is to reduce various emissions and also to improve the performance of the diesel engine when fueled with blends of hexanol and neat cashew nut shell biodiesel. Cashew nut shell oil is not edible, and hence it can be used as a viable alternative to diesel.Cashew nut shell biodiesel is prepared by conventional transesterification. Hexanol with 99.2% purity was employed as an oxygenated additive. Experimental studies were conducted by fueling diesel as a baseline and by fueling hexanol and neat cashew nut shell biodiesel mixture. A fuel comprising 10%(by volume) of hexanol and 90%(by volume) neat cashew nut shell biodiesel was referred to as CNSBD900 H100 and fuel comprising 20%(by volume) of hexanol and 80%(by volume)of neat cashew nut shell biodiesel was referred to as CNSBD800 H200. This study also investigated the possibility of using pure biofuel in an unmodified naturally aspirated diesel engine. The outcome of this study showed that adding hexanol at10% and 20%(by volume) to cashew nut shell biodiesel results in a reduction in emissions. In addition, a significant improvement in brake thermal efficiency and reduction in brake-specific fuel consumptions were achieved. Hence, it could be concluded that hexanol could be a viable and promising additive for improving the drawbacks of biodiesel when it was used to fuel an unmodified diesel engine. | Amith Kishore Pandian Dinesh Babu Munuswamy Santhanakrishnan Radhakrishanan Yuvarajan Devarajan Ramesh Bapu Bathey Ramakrishnan Beemkumar Nagappan | 2018 | Petroleum Science2018,15,1: | 3
I/O Acceleration via Multi-Tiered Data Buffering and Prefetching显示文摘Modern High-Performance Computing(HPC)systems are adding extra layers to the memory and storage hierarchy, named deep memory and storage hierarchy(DMSH),to increase I/O performance.New hardware technologies, such as NVMe and SSD,have been introduced in burst buffer installations to reduce the pressure for external storage and boost the burstiness of modern I/O systems. The DMSH has demonstrated its strength and potential in practice. However, each layer of DMSH is an independent heterogeneous system and data movement among more layers is significantly more complex even without considering heterogeneity. How to efficiently utilize the DMSH is a subject of research facing the HPC community.Further, accessing data with a high-throughput and low-latency is more imperative than ever.Data prefetching is a well-known technique for hiding read latency by requesting data before it is needed to move it from a high-latency medium(e.g.,disk)to a low-latency one(e.g.,main memory). However, existing solutions do not consider the new deep memory and storage hierarchy and also suffer from under-utilization of prefetching resources and unnecessary evictions.Additionally, existing approaches implement a client-pull model where understanding the application's I/O behavior drives prefetching decisions.Moving towards exascale, where machines run multiple applications concurrently by accessing files in a workflow,a more data-centric approach resolves challenges such as cache pollution and redundancy. In this paper,we present the design and implementation of Hermes:a new,heterogeneous-aware,multi-tiered,dynamic,and distributed I/O buffering system.Hermes enables, manages, supervises, and,in some sense, extends I/O buffering to fully integrate into the DMSH.We introduce three novel data placement policies to efficiently utilize all layers and we present three novel techniques to perform memory, metadata, and communication management in hierarchical buffering systems.Additionally,we demonstrate the benefits of a truly hierarchical data prefetcher that adopts a server-push approach to data prefetching. Our evaluation shows that,in addition to automatic data movement through the hierarchy,Hermes can significantly accelerate I/O and outperforms by more than 2x state-of-the-art buffering platforms.Lastly, results show 10%-35%performance gains over existing prefetchers and over 50%when compared to systems with no prefetching. | Anthony Kougkas Hariharan Devarajan Xian-He Sun | 2020 | Journal of Computer Science & Technology2020,35,1: | 2
