1Changes in sea ice kinematics in the Arctic outflow region and their associations with Arctic Northeast Passage accessibility显示文摘Amplification of climate warming in the Arctic is causing a dramatic retreat of sea ice, which means the Arctic sea routes are becoming increasingly accessible. This study used a satellite-derived sea ice motion product to quantify the kinematic features of sea ice in the Arctic outflow region which specially referred to the Fram Strait and to the north of the Northeast Passage(NEP). An observed trend of increased southward sea ice displacement from the central Arctic to the Fram Strait indicated enhancement of the Transpolar Drift Stream(TDS). In the regions to the north of the NEP, the long-term trend of northward sea ice speed in the Kara sector was +0.04 cm/s per year in spring. A significant statistical relationship was found between the NEP open period and the northward speed of the sea ice to the north of the NEP. The offshore advection of sea ice could account for the opening of sea routes by 33% and 15% in the Kara and Laptev sectors, respectively. The difference in sea level pressure across the TDS,i.e., the Central Arctic Index(CAI), presented more significant correlation than for the Arctic atmospheric Dipole Anomaly index with the open period of the NEP, and the CAI could explain the southward displacement of sea ice toward the Fram Strait by more than 45%. 2Characterization of the unprecedented polynya events north of Greenland in 2017/2018 using remote sensing and reanalysis data显示文摘Based on an ice concentration threshold of 90%,it has been identified that two polynya events occurred in the region north of Greenland during the 2017/2018 ice season.The winter event lasted from February 20 to March 3,2018 and the summer event persisted from August 2 to September 5,2018.The minimum ice concentration derived from Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2(AMSR2)observations was 72%and 65%during the winter and summer events,respectively.The occurrence of both events can be related to strengthened southerly winds associated with an increased east-west zonal surface level air pressure gradient across the north Greenland due to perturbation of mid-troposphere polar vortex.The relatively warm air temperature during the 2017/2018 freezing season in comparison with previous years,together with the occurrence of the winter polynya,formed favourable pre-conditions for ice field fracturing in summer,which promoted the formation of the summer polynya.Diminished southerly winds and increased cover of new ice over the open water were the dominant factors for the disappearance of the winter polynya,whereas increased ice inflow from the north was the primary factor behind the closure of the summer polynya.Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)images were found better suited than AMSR2 observations for quantification of a new ice product during the polynya event because the SAR images have high potential for mapping of different sea ice regimes with finely spatial resolution.The unprecedented polynya events north of Greenland in 2017/2018 are important from the perspective of Arctic sea ice loss because they occurred in a region that could potentially be the last“Arctic sea ice refuge”in future summers.Ruibo Lei Dawei Gui Zhouli Yuan Xiaoping Pang Ding Tao Mengxi Zhai 2020Acta Oceanologica Sinica2020,39,9:3
3Thermodynamic Performances of[mmim]DMP/Methanol Absorption Refrigeration显示文摘In order to study the theoretical cycle characteristic of [mmim]DMP(1-methyl-3-methylimidazolium dimethylphosphate)/methanol absorption refrigeration,the modified UNIFAC group contribution model and the Wilson model are established through correlating the experimental vapor pressure data of [mmim]DMP/methanol at T=280~370K and methanol mole fraction x=0.529~0.965.Thermodynamic performances of absorption refrigeration utilizing [mmim]DMP/methanol,LiBr/H2O and H2O/NH3 are investigated and compared with each other under the same operating conditions.From the results,some conclusions are obtained as follows:1)the circulation ratio of the [mmim]DMP /methanol absorption refrigeration is higher than that of the LiBr/H2O absorption refrigeration,but still can be acceptable and tolerable.2)The COP of the [mmim]DMP/methanol absorption refrigeration is smaller than that of the LiBr/H2O absorption refrigeration,while it is higher than that of the H2O/NH3 absorption refrigeration under most operating conditions.3)The[mmim]DMP/methanol absorption refrigeration are still available with high COP when the heat source temperature is too high to drive LiBr/H2O absorption refrigeration.Wei Chen Shiqiang Liang Yongxian Guo Keyong Cheng Xiaohong Gui Dawei Tang 2012Journal of Thermal Science2012,21,6:2

6Elite,transformable haploid inducers in maize显示文摘The introduction of alleles into commercial crop breeding pipelines is both time consuming and costly.Two technologies that are disrupting traditional breeding processes are doubled haploid(DH)breeding and genome editing(GE).Recently,these techniques were combined into a GE trait delivery system called HI-Edit(Haploid Inducer-Edit).In HI-Edit,the pollen of a haploid inducer line is reprogrammed to deliver GE traits to any variety,obviating recurrent selection.For HI-Edit to operate at scale,an efficient transformable HI line is needed,but most maize varieties are recalcitrant to transformation,and haploid inducers are especially difficult to transform given their aberrant reproductive behaviors.Leveraging marker assisted selection and a three-tiered testing scheme,we report the development of new Iodent and Stiff Stalk maize germplasm that are transformable,have high haploid induction rates,and exhibit a robust,genetically-dominant anthocyanin native trait that may be used for rapid haploid identification.We show that transformation of these elite‘‘HI-Edit”lines is enhanced using the BABYBOOM and WUSCHEL morphogenetic factors.Finally,we evaluate the HI-Edit performance of one of the lines against both Stiff Stalk and non-Stiff Stalk testers.The strategy and results of this study should facilitate the development of commercially scalable HI-Edit systems in diverse crops.Brent Delzer Dawei Liang David Szwerdszarf Isadora Rodriguez Gonzalo Mardones Sivamani Elumalai Francine Johnson Samson Nalapalli Rachel Egger Erin Burch Kerry Meier Juan Wei Xiujuan Zhang Huaping Gui Huaibing Jin Huan Guo Kun Yu Yubo Liu Becky Breitinger Ana Poets Jason Nichols Wan Shi David Skibbe Qiudeng Que Timothy Kelliher 2024The Crop Journal2024,12,1:0
7Increased retinal venule diameter as a prognostic indicator for recurrent cerebrovascular events:a prospective observational study显示文摘Microvasculature of the retina is considered an alternative marker of cerebral vascular risk in healthy populations.However,the ability of retinal vasculature changes,specifically focusing on retinal vessel diameter,to predict the recurrence of cerebrovascular events in patients with ischemic stroke has not been determined comprehensively.While previous studies have shown a link between retinal vessel diameter and recurrent cerebrovascular events,they have not incorporated this information into a predictive model.Therefore,this study aimed to investigate the relationship between retinal vessel diameter and subsequent cerebrovascular events in patients with acute ischemic stroke.Additionally,we sought to establish a predictive model by combining retinal veessel diameter with traditional risk factors.We performed a prospective observational study of 141 patients with acute ischemic stroke who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University.All of these patients underwent digital retinal imaging within 72 hours of admission and were followed up for 3 years.We found that,after adjusting for related risk factors,patients with acute ischemic stroke with mean arteriolar diameter within 0.5-1.0 disc diameters of the disc margin(MAD_(0.5-1.0DD))of≥74.14μm and mean venular diameter within 0.5-1.0 disc diameters of the disc margin(MVD_(0.5-1.0DD))of≥83.91μm tended to experience recurrent cerebrovascular events.We established three multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression models:model 1 included traditional risk factors,model 2 added MAD_(0.5-1.0DD)to model 1,and model 3 added MVD0.5-1.0DD to model 1.Model 3 had the greatest potential to predict subsequent cerebrovascular events,followed by model 2,and finally model 1.These findings indicate that combining retinal venular or arteriolar diameter with traditional risk factors could improve the prediction of recurrent cerebrovascular events in patients with acute ischemic stroke,and that retinal imaging could be a useful and non-invasive method for identifying high-risk patients who require closer monitoring and more aggressive management.Ying Zhao Dawei Dong Ding Yan Bing Yang Weirong Gui Man Ke Anding Xu Zefeng Tan 2024Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,5:0
8Monitoring the pH fluctuation of lysosome under cell stress using a near-infrared ratiometric fluorescent probe显示文摘Cell stress responses are associated with numerous diseases including diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. Several events occur under cell stress, in which, are protein expression and organellespecific pH fluctuation. To understand the lysosomal pH variation under cell stress, a novel NIR ratiometric pH-responsive fluorescent probe(BLT) with lysosomes localization capability was developed.The quinoline ring of BLT combined with hydrogen ion which triggered the rearrangement of π electrons conjugated at low pH medium, meanwhile, the absorption and fluorescent spectra of BLT showed a red-shifts, which gived a ratiometric signal. Moreover, the probe BLT with a suitable p Kavalue has the potential to discern changes in lysosomal pH, either induced by heat stress or oxidative stress or acetaminophen-induced(APAP) injury stress. Importantly, this ratiometric fluorescent probe innovatively tracks pH changes in lysosome in APAP-induced liver injury in live cells, mice, and zebrafish.
