1Fundamentals of phase-only liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) devices显示文摘This paper describes the fundamentals of phase-only liquid crystal on silicon(LCOS)technology,which have not been previously discussed in detail.This technology is widely utilized in high efficiency applications for real-time holography and diffractive optics.The paper begins with a brief introduction on the developmental trajectory of phase-only LCOS technology,followed by the correct selection of liquid crystal(LC)materials and corresponding electro-optic effects in such devices.Attention is focused on the essential requirements of the physical aspects of the LC layer as well as the indispensable parameters for the response time of the device.Furthermore,the basic functionalities embedded in the complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS)silicon backplane for phase-only LCOS devices are illustrated,including two typical addressing schemes.Finally,the application of phase-only LCOS devices in real-time holography will be introduced in association with the use of cutting-edge computer-generated holograms.Zichen Zhang Zheng You Daping Chu 2014Light(Science & Applications)2014,3,1:25
2Vascularity of hepatic VX2 tumors of rabbits: Assessment with conventional power Doppler US and contrast enhanced harmonic power Doppler US显示文摘AIM: To investigate the characteristics of the vascularity ofhepatic metastasis.METHODS: Six New Zealand rabbits, weighing averagely2.7±0.4 kg, were selected and operated to establish hepaticVX2 tumor carrier model. Hepatic VX2 tumors were thenimaged with conventional B mode US, second harmonicimaging (SHI), color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI), powerDoppler imaging (PDI) and harmonic PDI by a transducerS8 connected to HP-5 500 ultrasound system. A kind of selfmade echo contrast agent was intravenously injected at adose of 0.01 mL/kg through ear vein, and then the venouspassage was cleaned with sterilized saline.RESULTS: Totally, 6 hypoechoic lesions and 3 hyperechoiclesions were found in the six carrier rabbits with a mean sizeabout 2.1±0.4 cm under conventional B mode ultrasound, theywere oval or round in shape with a dear outline or a hypoechoichalo at the margin of the lesions. Contrast agent could notchange the echogenicity of the lesions under conventional Bmode and SHI, however, it could greatly increase the flowsensitivity of the lesions under PDI and harmonic PDI. 32D DEM simulation of particle mixing in rotating drum: A parametric study显示文摘Mixing behaviors of equal-sized glass beads in a rotating drum were investigated by both DEM simulations and experiments. The experiments indicated that higher rotation speed can significantly enhance mixing. The particle profiles predicted by 2D DEM simulation were compared with the experimental results from a quasi-2D drum, showing inconsistency due to reduction of contacts in the single-layer 2D simulation which makes the driving friction weaker than that in the quasi-2D test, better results could be reached by specifying a higher frictional coefficient between the particles and the cylinder wall. In order to explore the influences of physical properties (density, size or friction) on mixing behavior, numerical 2D simulations were carried out systematically, in which one examined specific property being examined was exaggerated while the others were kept the same as that in the control group. The DEM simulations reveal that particle density and size are the dominating factors affecting mixing behaviors, while the effect of frictional coefficient is less significant. 4Growth and nutrient dynamics of Betula alnoides seedlings under exponential fertilization显示文摘Betula alnoides is a fast-growing hardwood species grown in large plantations in Southeast Asia and South China.Nitrogen requirements for producing robus seedlings,growth and nutrient dynamics were investigated using exponential fertilization treatments.Root collar diameter,height,dry mass and nutrient contents of seedlings increased exponentially in all fertilization treatments as time progressed.Moreover,with water soluble fertilizer(Plant Products plus microelements N–P_2O_5–K_2O:20–20–20),300 mg N seedling^(-1)was adequate.Vector analysis revealed that P was the most responsive nutrient element followed by N and K.Dilutions of N and K were evident in the plants without N addition,which induced initial P sufficiency and then luxury consumption probably due to the antagonistic interaction between N and P.However deficiencies of N,P and K were mostly observed in al exponential regimes during the experiment because seedling growth rate exceeded nutrient uptake rate,inferring that further study on improving the nutrient uptake efficiency is needed.Analysis of relationships among nutrient supply,dry mass,N content and N concentration demonstrated that 100–400 mg N seedling^(-1)induced sufficiency to luxury consumption of nitrogen without significant change in dry mass,and 400 mg N seedling^(-1)is recommended to apply for nutrient loading of seedlings before outplanting.The findings will help improve seedling quality and enhance the production of robust seedlings for plantation forestry of this species.Lin Chen Chunsheng Wang Bernard Dell Zhigang Zhao Junjie Guo Daping Xu Jie Zeng 2018Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,1:14
5Flexible and transparent graphene/silver-nanowires composite ?lm for high electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness显示文摘Herein, an efficient approach to prepare flexible, transparent, and lightweight films based on graphene nanosheets(GNS) and silver nanowires(AgNWs) for high electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding effectiveness(SE) has been explained. High-conductive GNS were fabricated by liquid phase stripping and composited with AgNWs by a two-step spin-coating method. Owing to the high transparency, good conductivity, and homogeneous distribution of both GNS and AgNWs, the obtained GNS/AgNWs film exhibits superb EMI SE and light transmittance, yielding a significantly high EMI SE up to 26 dB in both Ku-band and K-band and light transmittance higher than 78.4%. Moreover, this GNS/AgNWs film shows good flexibility and excellent structural stability. 7Enhanced methane production in an anaerobic digestion and microbial electrolysis cell coupled system with co-cultivation of Geobacter and Methanosarcina显示文摘The anaerobic digestion(AD)and microbial electrolysis cell(MEC)coupled system has been proved to be a promising process for biomethane production.In this paper,it was found that by co-cultivating Geobacter with Methanosarcina in an AD–MEC coupled system,methane yield was further increased by 24.1%,achieving to 360.2 m L/g-COD,which was comparable to the theoretical methane yield of an anaerobic digester.With the presence of Geobacter,the maximum chemical oxygen demand(COD)removal rate(216.8 mg COD/(L·hr))and current density(304.3 A/m_3)were both increased by 1.3 and 1.8 fold compared to the previous study without Geobacter,resulting in overall energy efficiency reaching up to 74.6%.Community analysis demonstrated that Geobacter and Methanosarcina could coexist together in the biofilm,and the electrochemical activities of both were confirmed by cyclic voltammetry.Our study observed that the carbon dioxide content in total gas generated from the AD reactor with Geobacter was only half of that generated from the same reactor without Geobacter,suggesting that Methanosarcina may obtain the electron transferred from Geobacter for the reduction of carbon dioxide to methane.Taken together,Geobacter not only can improve the performance of the MEC system,but also can enhance methane production.Qi Yin Xiaoyu Zhu Guoqiang Zhan Tao Bo Yanfei Yang Yong Tao Xiaohong He Daping Li Zhiying Yan 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,4:9
8Effects of cathode potentials and nitrate concentrations on dissimilatory nitrate reductions by Pseudomonas alcaliphila in bioelectrochemical systems显示文摘The effects of cathode potentials and initial nitrate concentrations on nitrate reduction in bioelectrochemical systems(BESs) were reported. These factors could partition nitrate reduction between denitrification and dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium(DNRA). Pseudomonas alcaliphilastrain MBR utilized an electrode as the sole electron donor and nitrate as the sole electron acceptor. When the cathode potential was set from-0.3 to-1.1 V(vs. Ag/AgCl) at an initial nitrate concentration of 100 mg NO-3-N/L, the DNRA electron recovery increased from(10.76 ± 1.6)% to(35.06 ± 0.99)%; the denitrification electron recovery decreased from(63.42 ± 1.32)% to(44.33 ± 1.92)%. When the initial nitrate concentration increased from(29.09 ± 0.24) to(490.97 ± 3.49) mg NO-3-N/L at the same potential(-0.9 V), denitrification electron recovery increased from(5.88 ± 1.08)% to(50.19 ± 2.59)%; the DNRA electron recovery declined from(48.79 ± 1.32)% to(16.02 ± 1.41)%. The prevalence of DNRA occurred at high ratios of electron donors to acceptors in the BESs and denitrification prevailed against DNRA under a lower ratio of electron donors to acceptors. 9ZIF-8/LiFePO4 derived Fe-N-P Co-doped carbon nanotube encapsulated Fe2P nanoparticles for efficient oxygen reduction and Zn-air batteries显示文摘Iron-based oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)catalysts have been the focus of research,and iron sources play an important role for the preparation of efficient ORR catalysts.Here,we successfully use LiFePO4 as ideal sources of Fe and P to construct the heteroatom doped Fe-based carbon materials.The obtained Fe-N-P co-doped coral-like carbon nanotube arrays encapsulated Fe2P catalyst(C-ZIF/LFP)shows very high half-wave potential of 0.88 V in alkaline electrolytes toward ORR,superior to Pt/C(0.85 V),and also presents a high half-wave potential of 0.74 V in acidic electrolytes,comparable to Pt/C(0.8 V).When further applied into a home-made Zn-air battery as cathode,a peak power density of 140 mW·cm^-2 is reached,exceeds commercial Pt/C(110 mW·cm^-2).Besides,it also presents exceptional durability and methanol resistance compared with Pt/C.Noticeably,the preparation method of such a high-performance catalyst is simple and easy to optimize,suitable for the large-scale production.What’s more,it opens up a more sustainable development scenario to reduce the hazardous wastes such as LiFePO4 by directly using them for preparing high-performance ORR catalysts.Huihui Jin Huang Zhou Pengxia Ji Chengtian Zhang Jiahuan Luo Weihao Zeng Chenxi Hu Daping He Shichun Mu 2020Nano Research2020,13,3:8

11Highly sensitive wearable sensor based on a flexible multi-layer graphene film antenna显示文摘The use of advanced carbon nanomaterials for flexible antenna sensors has attracted great attention due to their outstanding electromechanical properties. However, carbon nanomaterial based composites have yet to overcome drawbacks, such as low conductivity and toughness. In this work, a flexible multi-layer graphene film(FGF) with a high conductivity of 10~6 S/m for antenna based wearable sensors is investigated. A 1.63 GHz FGF antenna sensor exhibits significantly high strain sensitivity of 9.8 for compressive bending and 9.36 for tensile bending, which is super than the copper antenna sensor(5.39 for compressive bending and 4.05 for tensile bending). 12Study of high-precision earth sensor with triple-FOV显示文摘Earth sensors are widely used in spacecraft for attitude determination. They need to have a very large field of view(FOV)( > 120°) and relatively low accuracy while being used in the aircrafts around orbit. A triple-FOV infrared earth sensor is proposed in this paper. It uses three pieces of standard infrared detectors with a wavelength range of 14;16μm,to sense the horizontal circle by detecting the infrared light emitted from the earth. From which,the geocentric vector can be obtained. A mathematic model is established and a validation model is set up to provide input parameters for the mathematic model. The simulation results of the two models show that the output of the mathematic model coincides with the known parameters. Based on the above analysis,a prototype has been built and tested. 14Study of the influences of rotary table speed on stick-slip vibration of the drilling system显示文摘Stick-slip vibration presents one of the major causes of drilling problems,such as premature tool failures,low drilling efficiency and poor wellbore quality.The objective of this work is to investigate the influences of rotary table speed(RTS)on stick-slip phenomenon of the drilling system.In this study,the drilling system is treated as a lumped torsional pendulum model of which the bit/rock interaction is regarded as Coulomb friction.By analyzing cases with different RTS,two types of vibrations on the bit are found:stick-slip vibration and uniform motion.With an increase in the RTS,the stick-slip vibration on the drill bit disappears once the RTS arrives at its critical value.For the cases that stick-slip vibrations occur,the phase trajectories converge toward a limit cycle.For the cases that stick-slip vibration does not appear,the drill bit tends to stabilize at a uniform motion and the phase trajectories correspond to contracting spirals observed in the phase plane.Liping Tang Xiaohua Zhu Changshuai Shi Jian Tang Daping Xu 2015Petroleum2015,1,4:5

16Design Engineering,Synthesis Protocols,and Energy Applications of MOF-Derived Electrocatalysts显示文摘The core reactions for fuel cells,rechargeable metal-air batteries,and hydrogen fuel production are the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),oxygen evolution reaction(OER),and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),which are heavily dependent on the efficiency of electrocatalysts.Enormous attempts have previously been devoted in non-noble electrocatalysts born out of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)for ORR,OER,and HER applications,due to the following advantageous reasons:(i)The significant porosity eases the electrolyte diffusion;(ii)the supreme catalyst-electrolyte contact area enhances the diffusion efficiency;and(iii)the electronic conductivity can be extensively increased owing to the unique construction block subunits for MOFs-derived electrocatalysis.Herein,the recent progress of MOFs-derived electrocatalysts including synthesis protocols,design engineering,DFT calculations roles,and energy applications is discussed and reviewed.It can be concluded that the elevated ORR,OER,and HER performances are attributed to an advantageously well-designed high-porosity structure,significant surface area,and plentiful active centers.Furthermore,the perspectives of MOF-derived electrocatalysts for the ORR,OER,and HER are presented.Amr Radwan Huihui Jin Daping He Shichun Mu 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,9:4
17Radar maneuvering target tracking algorithm based on human cognition mechanism显示文摘Radar Maneuvering Targets Tracking(RMTT) in clutter is a quite challenging issue due to the errors in the models and the varying dynamics of the processes. Modern radar tracking system calls for the adaptive signal and data processing algorithm urgently to adapt the uncertainty of the environment. The mechanism of human cognition can help persons cope with the similar diffi-culties in visual tracking. Inspired by human cognition mechanism, a comprehensive method for RMTT is proposed. In the method, the model transition probability in Interacting Multiple Model(IMM) and the validation gate can be adjusted dynamically with target maneuver;the waveform in radar transmitter can vary with the perception of the environment. 18Polysaccharide,proline,and anti-oxidation enzyme activities of Thailand rosewood(Dalbergia cochinchinensis)seedlings exposed to exponential fertilization显示文摘Thailand rosewood(Dalbergia cochinchinensis)is a vulnerable high value tree species in subtropical and tropical Southeast Asia.The demand for the rehabilitation of the natural habitat of the species requires high-quality seedlings.However,current fertilizer regimes tend to deliver a coarse rate of fertilizers that result in a low uptake efficiency and a high risk of nutrient excess.Exponential fertilization is an effective approach to promote seedling quality through identifying an optimum dose out of a range of applications.In this study,Thailand rosewood seedlings were cultured in a mixed substrate of perlite,vermiculite,and peat(2:2:3,v/v/v)and received exponential fertilization from 0(control),through 100,200,300,400,and 600 mg nitrogen(N)per plant over a four-month cultural rotation.Height,diameter,and shoot biomass increased with fertilizer rate and were maximized at 300 mg N per plant.This application also reduced nutrient deficiencies and avoided excess supply compared to higher rates.Polysaccharide,proline,and anti-oxidation enzyme activities tended to be greater in unfertilized controls or in over-fertilized high dosages,with lower activities around 100–300 mg N plant(-1).Application of 300 mg N per plant was identified as the optimum dosage as it maximized nutrient reserves,polysaccharide and proline contents,and anti-oxidants without causing any symptoms from excess fertilizer toxicity.Future work is required to identify the effects of N-fixation on the formation of nutritional reserves in Thailand rosewood seedlings subjected to exponential fertilization.Zhou Hong Junyu Guo Ningnan Zhang Zengjiang Yang Xiaojing Liu Zhiyi Cui Daping Xu 2022Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,1:4
19Effect of air-exposed biocathode on the performance of a Thauera-dominated membraneless single-chamber microbial fuel cell (SCMFC)显示文摘To investigate the effect of air-exposed biocathode(AEB) on the performance of singlechamber microbial fuel cell(SCMFC), wastewater quality, bioelectrochemical characteristics and the electrode biofilms were researched. It was demonstrated that exposing the biocathode to air was beneficial to nitrogen removal and current generation. In Test 1 of 95%AEB, removal rates of ammonia, total nitrogen(TN) and chemical oxygen demand(COD)reached 99.34% ± 0.11%, 99.34% ± 0.10% and 90.79% ± 0.12%, respectively. The nitrogen removal loading rates were 36.38 g N/m^3/day. Meanwhile, current density and power density obtained at 0.7 A/m3 and 104 m W/m^3 respectively. Further experiments on opencircuit(Test 2) and carbon source(Test 3) indicated that this high performance could be attributed to simultaneous biological nitrification/denitrification and aerobic denitrification, as well as bioelectrochemical denitrification. Results of community analysis demonstrated that both microbial community structures on the surface of the cathode and in the liquid of the chamber were different. The percentage of Thauera, identified as denitrifying bacteria, maintained at a high level of over 50% in water, but decreased gradually in the AEB. 20Broadband mid-infrared molecular spectroscopy based on passive coherent optical–optical modulated frequency combs显示文摘Mid-infrared dual-comb spectroscopy is of great interest owing to the strong spectroscopic features of trace gases,biological molecules,and solid matter with higher resolution,accuracy,and acquisition speed. However,the prerequisite of achieving high coherence of optical sources with the use of bulk sophisticated control systems prevents their widespread use in field applications. Here we generate a highly mutually coherent dual midinfrared comb spectrometer based on the optical–optical modulation of a continuous-wave (CW) interband or quantum cascade laser. Mutual coherence was passively achieved without post-data processes or active carrier envelope phase-locking processes. The center wavelength of the generated mid-infrared frequency combs can be flexibly tuned by adjusting the wavelength of the CW seeds. The parallel detection of multiple molecular species,including C_(2)H_(2),CH_(4),H_(2)CO,H_(2)S,COS,and H_(2)O,was achieved.
