| 1 | Modulatory effects of acupuncture on brain networks in mild cognitive impairment patients显示文摘Functional magnetic resonance imaging has been widely used to investigate the effects of acupuncture on neural activity. However, most functional magnetic resonance imaging studies have focused on acute changes in brain activation induced by acupuncture. Thus, the time course of the therapeutic effects of acupuncture remains unclear. In this study, 32 patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment were randomly divided into two groups, where they received either Tiaoshen Yizhi acupuncture or sham acupoint acupuncture. The needles were either twirled at Tiaoshen Yizhi acupoints, including Sishencong(EX-HN1), Yintang(EX-HN3), Neiguan(PC6), Taixi(KI3), Fenglong(ST40), and Taichong(LR3), or at related sham acupoints at a depth of approximately 15 mm, an angle of ± 60°, and a rate of approximately 120 times per minute. Acupuncture was conducted for 4 consecutive weeks, five times per week, on weekdays. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging indicated that connections between cognition-related regions such as the insula, dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, thalamus, inferior parietal lobule, and anterior cingulate cortex increased after acupuncture at Tiaoshen Yizhi acupoints. The insula, dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, and hippocampus acted as central brain hubs. Patients in the Tiaoshen Yizhi group exhibited improved cognitive performance after acupuncture. In the sham acupoint acupuncture group, connections between brain regions were dispersed, and we found no differences in cognitive function following the treatment. | 2 | Immunoregulatory effects of Tripterygium wilfordii Hook Fand its extracts in clinical practice显示文摘Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F (TwHF) and its extracts have long been used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and kidney disease due to their anti-inflammatory, immunoregulatory, and other pharmacological effects. However, the clinical immunoregulatory effects of TwHF and its extracts remain unclear, so we reviewed their effects for use in clinical practice. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent literature on the immunoregulatory effects of TwHF and its extracts in clinical studies. TwHF and its extracts affect the proliferation and activation of T and B cells;ratio of T cell subsets;inflammatory response of monocytes, macrophages, and immunoglobulins;and secretion of many cytokines. Together, these effects dictate immune function in a variety of diseases. | 6 | What are the best Salvia miltiorrhiza injection classes for treatment of unstable angina pectoris? A systematic review and network Meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To undertake a systematic review and network meta-analysis(NMA) to compare the effectiveness among the different regimens of Salvia miltiorrhiza injection classes(SMICs) for unstable angina pectoris(UAP) treatment.METHODS: A systematic retrieval was conducted in several literature databases to identify randomized controlled trials focusing on the different regimens of SMICs for UAP treatment until January2016. The quality assessment was accomplished according to the Cochrane risk of bias tool. Pair-wise meta-analyses were carried out by Rev Man 5.3. A random-effects model of NMA was used to compare the different regimens of SMICs with regard to efficacy by STATA 13.0.RESULTS: A total of 111 studies involving 10 500patients were included in the NMA. The methodological quality of included studies was not high.Current evidence shows that salvianolate(SI) is the optimal treatment for UAP in improving the total efficacy against UAP. Guanxingning(GXN) is the optimal treatment for UAP for improving the total effectiveness of electrocardiography.CONCLUSION: SMICs have advantages in preventing cardiovascular events. | 7 | Mechanical properties, biodegradability and cytocompatibility of biodegradable Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd/Y alloys显示文摘Biodegradable magnesium alloys have been turned out to be a promising candidate for orthopedic applications.In this study,the mechanical properties,degradation behaviorand cytocompatibility of MgZn-Zr-Nd and Mg-Zn-Zr-Y alloys were studied in comparison with pure Mg.Mechanical tests showed that the strength and ductility of Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd and Mg-Zn-Zr-Y alloys were excellent.The corrosion resistance analyzed by electrochemical test and immersion test in alpha modified eagle(α-MEM) medium with 10% fetal bovine serum(FBS) revealed the degradation of Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd and Mg-Zn-Zr-Y alloys were faster than pure Mg at an early stage but slowed down after long time immersion.The metal ion concentrations were consistent with the corrosion rate.Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd alloy shows better mechanical properties than pure Mg and better corrosion resistance than Mg-Zn-Zr-Y alloy.The direct and indirect in vitro tests with MC3 T3-E1 cells demonstrate that Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd shows the best cytocompatibility and osteogenesis.The results suggest that Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd alloy shows an ideal combination of mechanical,corrosive and biological properties.In summary,these results implying the Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd alloy has great potential to benefit the future development of orthopedic applications. | Shi Jin Dan Zhang Xiaopeng Lu Yang Zhang Lili Tan Ying Liu Qiang Wang | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,47,12: | 12 |
| 8 | Garcinol inhibits esophageal cancer metastasis by suppressing the p300 and TGF-β1 signaling pathways显示文摘Metastasis causes the main lethality in esophageal cancer patient.Garcinol,a natural compound extracted from Gambogic genera,is a histone acetyltransferase(HAT)inhibitor that has shown anticancer activities such as cell cycle arrest and apoptosis induction.In this study,we investigated the effects of garcinol on the metastasis of esophageal cancer in vitro and in vivo.We found that garcinol(5-15μM)dose-dependently inhibited the migration and invasion of human esophageal cancer cell lines KYSE150 and KYSE450 in wound healing,transwell migration,and Matrigel invasion assays.Furthermore,garcinol treatment dose-dependently decreased the protein levels of p300/CBP(transcriptional cofactors and HATs)and p-Smad2/3 expression in the nucleus,thus impeding tumor cell proliferation and metastasis.Knockdown of p300 could inhibit cell metastasis,but CBP knockdown did not affect the cell mobility.It has been reported that TGF-β1 stimulated the phosphorylation of Smad2/3,which directly interact with p300/CBP in the nucleus,and upregulating HAT activity of p300.We showed that garcinol treatment dose-dependently suppressed TGF-β1-activated Smad and non-Smad pathway,inhibiting esophageal cancer cell metastasis.In a tail vein injection pulmonary metastasis mouse model,intraperitoneal administration of garcinol(20 mg/kg)or 5-FU(20 mg/kg)significantly decreased the number of lung tumor nodules and the expression levels of Ki-67,p300,and p-Smad2/3 in lung tissues.In conclusion,our study demonstrates that garcinol inhibits esophageal cancer metastasis in vitro and in vivo,which might be related to the suppression of p300 and TGF-β1 signaling pathways,suggesting the therapeutic potential of Garcinol for metastatic tumors. | Jing Wang Man Wu Dan Zheng Hong Zhang Yue Lv Li Zhang Hong-sheng Tan Hua Zhou Yuan-zhi Lao Hong-xi Xu | 2020 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,1: | 12 |
| 9 | Acute-on-chronic liver failure in a multi-ethnic Asian city:A comparison of patients identified by Asia-Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver and European Association for the Study of the Liver definitions显示文摘AIM To explore the applicability of the Asia-Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver(APASL) and European Association for the Study of the Liver(EASL) guidelines for acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF) in profiling patients and determining the outcome.METHODS Patients admitted to a tertiary hospital in Singapore with acute decompensation of liver disease from January 2004to July 2014 are screened for ACLF according to the APASL and EASL criteria. The patients' data(including basic demographics, information about existing chronic liver disease, information about the acute decompensation, relevant laboratory values during admission, treatment, and outcome) are retrospectively analyzed to determine the background, precipitating factors and outcome.RESULTS A total of 458 liver patients is analyzed, and 78 patients with ACLF are identified. Sixty-three patients(80.8%) meet the APASL criteria, 64 patients(82.1%) meet the EASL criteria, and 49 patients(62.8%) fulfilled both criteria. The most common causes of acute liver injury are bacterial infections(59.0%), hepatitis B flare(29.5%), and variceal bleeding(24.4%). The common aetiologies of the underlying chronic disease included hepatitis B(43.6%), alcoholic(20.5%) and cryptogenic(11.5%) liver disease. The overall mortality rate is 61.5%. Increased age, the number of organ failures(as per CLIF-SOFA score), peak creatinine, INR, and amylase levels are associated with increased mortality or the need for liver transplantation. 14.3% of patients undergo liver transplantation with a 100% 1-year survival rate. | 14 | Detection of a half-microgal coseismic gravity change after the Ms7. 0 Lushan earthquake显示文摘Because only a small near-field coseismic gravity change signal remains after removal of noise from the accuracy of observations and the time and spatial resolution of the earth's surface gravity observation system,it is difficult to verify simulations of dislocation theory.In this study,it is shown that the GS15 gravimeter,located 99.5 km from the epicenter of the Ms7.0 Lushan earthquake on April 20,2013 at 08∶04 UTC+8,showed the influence of the earthquake from 2013-04-16 to 2013-04-26 after a time calibration,tide corrections,drift correction,period correction and relaxation correction were applied to its data.The post-seismic relaxation process of the spring in the gravimeter took approximately 430 minutes and showed a 2.5×10-8ms-2gravity change.After correcting for the relaxation process,it is shown that a coseismic gravity change of approximately+0.59±0.4×10-8ms-2was observed by the GS15 gravimeter;this agrees with the simulated gravity change of approximately 0.31×10-8ms-2.The rate of the coseismic gravity change and the coseismic vertical displacement,as measured by one-second and one-day sampling interval GPS units,is also consistent with the theoretical rate of change.Therefore,the GS15 gravimeter at the Pixian Station observed a coseismic gravity change after the Ms7.0 Lushan earthquake.This and similar measurements could be applied to test and confirm the theory used for these simulations. | Wei Jin Zhao Bin Tan Hongbo Yu Dan Shen Chongyang Li Hui | 2013 | Geodesy and Geodynamics2013,4,3: | 7 |

| 16 | Injections of ginkgo in the treatment of cerebral infarction: a systematic review and network Meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the clinical effectiveness and safety of injections of ginkgo(GI) combined with Western Medicine(WM) for cerebral infarction(CI).METHODS: Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) of CI treated by GI were searched in China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database, Wanfang, China Science and Technology Journal Database, Web of Science, Cochrane library, Embase, Pub Med and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, with the publication data no later than April, 2016. The Cochrane risk of bias method was used to evaluate the methodological quality of the RCTs. The data were analyzed by Review Manager 5.3, Stata 13.0,and Win BUGS 14 software.RESULTS: Totally 37 RCTs involving 4330 patientswere included. By direct comparison, the results of GI group were significantly superior to the routine WM group in the total effective rates [OR = 3.61,95% CI(2.93, 4.44), P < 0.0001], the neural function defect score(NFDS) [MD =-4.39, 95% CI(-5.47,-3.32), P < 0.0001]. Network Meta-analysis(NMA)results showed that, between 5 GIs in efficacy, the difference comparing ginaton injections(Gb E) to ginkgo-dipyidamolum injections(GD) [OR = 1.74,95% CI(0.73, 3.65)], shuxuening injections(SXN)[OR = 1.06, 95% CI(0.609, 1.697)] or ginkgolides injections(GK) [OR = 4.711, 95% CI(1.178, 13.21)]reach statistical significance; the difference comparing GD to GK reach statistical significance [OR =2.791, 95% CI(0.866, 6.908)]; the difference comparing SXN to GK reach statistical significance[OR = 4.537, 95% CI(1.203, 12.41)]. Besides, there was no difference between 4 GIs in NFDS. Probability ranking result showed a great possibility for GK [Surface under the Cumulative Ranking curve(SUCRA) = 80.3%] in improving the total effective rates, which were followed by GD(SUCRA =73.34%), SXN(SUCRA = 46.59%), Gb E(SUCRA =45.46%), floium ginkgo extract and tertram ethypyrazine sodium chloride injections(FT)(SUCRA = 35.64%). However, GK(SUCRA = 80.3%) or Gb E(SUCRA = 69.4%) was better than other GIs in reducing NFDS.GK + WM is the best treatment measures to reduce NFDS in cerebral infarction,which were followed by SXN + WM(SUCRA =51.6%), GD + WM(SUCRA = 48.1%).CONCLUSION: GIs was more effectiveness on CI than the routine Western Medicine. | 17 | Garciesculenxanthone B induces PINK1-Parkin-mediated mitophagy and prevents ischemia-reperfusion brain injury in mice显示文摘Mitophagy is a selective form of autophagy involving the removal of damaged mitochondria via the autophagy-lysosome pathway.PINK1-Parkin-mediated mitophagy is one of the most important mechanisms in cardiovascular disease,cerebral ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)injury,and neurodegenerative diseases.In this study we conducted an image-based screening in YFP-Parkin HeLa cells to discover new mitophagy regulators from natural xanthone compounds.We found that garciesculenxanthone B(GeB),a new xanthone compound from Garcinia esculenta,induced the formation of YFP-Parkin puncta,a well known mitophagy marker.Furthermore,treatment with GeB dose-dependently promoted the degradation of mitochondrial proteins Tom20,Tim23,and MFN1 in YFP-Parkin HeLa cells and SH-SY5Y cells.We revealed that GeB stabilized PINK1 and triggered Parkin translocation to the impaired mitochondria to induce mitophagy,and these effects were abolished by knockdown of PINK1.Finally,in vivo experiments demonstrated that GeB partially rescued ischemia-reperfusion-induced brain injury in mice.Taken together,our findings demonstrate that the natural compound GeB can promote the PINK1-Parkin-mediated mitophagy pathway,which may be implicated in protection against I/R brain injury. | Man Wu Guang Lu Yuan-zhi Lao Hong Zhang Dan Zheng Zhao-qing Zheng Juan Yi Qian Xiang Li-ming Wang Hong-sheng Tan Hua Zhou Han-ming Shen Hong-xi Xu | 2021 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021,42,2: | 7 |
| 18 | Residues of Organochlorine Pesticides(OCPs) in Agricultural Soils of Zhangzhou City,China显示文摘A soil survey was conducted in Zhangzhou City,an important agricultural region in south of the Fujian Province,China.93 surface soil samples were collected in the paddy fields,vegetable lands,orchards and tea plantations from Zhangzhou City.An additional soil profile was sampled in a paddy field as previous research had indicated high concentrations of organochlorine pesticides(OCPs) in the paddy fields.Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes(DDTs) ranged from 0.64-78.07 ng g 1 dry weight and hexachlorocyclohexanes(HCHs) ranged from 0.72-30.16 ng g 1 dry weight in the surface soil of the whole study region.Ratios of α-HCH/γ-HCH < 4 and o,p-DDT/p,p-DDT > 1 in all soil samples suggested that lindane and dicofol were widely applied in this region in the past.Concentrations of HCHs and DDTs in soils from the four land use types followed the orders:paddy fields > vegetable lands > tea plantations > orchards and tea plantations > orchards > paddy fields > vegetable lands,respectively.Analyses of the data showed no correlation(r < 0.1) between elevation and OCPs contents in paddy fields,orchards and vegetable lands,indicated no significantly different features in distribution of HCHs and DDTs in the soils from low lying plains and mountains and the unsystematic usage of OCPs,and highlighted the fragmented nature of agricultural production in Zhangzhou,as well as the reemission of OCPs from the soils,where high OCPs concentrations were found,in Longhai of Zhangzhou.In addition,no obvious relationship between the OCPs and total organic carbon(TOC)(r < 0.3) was observed in the soil profile.The mean contribution of dicofol in total DDTs was 66% in the whole Zhangzhou region.The approximate burdens of HCHs and DDTs in the surface layer of 0-20 cm were 0.44 and 1.55 t,respectively.The storage of both HCHs and DDTs in soil surface layer(0-20 cm) accounts for 40% burden of the soil layer of 0-50 cm(1.10 t HCHs and 3.87 t DDTs),in which the highest concentrations of OCPs were observed in soil profile. | YANG Dan QI Shi-Hua ZHANG Jia-Quan TAN Ling-Zhi ZHANG Jun-Peng ZHANG Yuan XU Feng XING Xin-Li HU Ying CHEN Wei YANG Jun-Hua XU Mei-Hui | 2012 | Pedosphere2012,22,2: | 7 |
| 19 | Ginkgo Leaf Extract and Dipyridamole Injection as Adjuvant Treatment for Angina Pectoris:A Meta-Analysis of 41 Randomized Controlled Trials显示文摘Objective: To provide information about the effectiveness and safety of Ginkgo Leaf Extract and Dipyridamole Injection(GD) as one adjuvant therapy for treating angina pectoris(AP) and to evaluate the relevant randomized controlled trials(RCTs) with meta-analysis. Methods: RCTs concerning AP treated by GD were searched in China Biology Medicine Disc(SinoMed), PubMed, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database(CNKI), the Chinese Scientific Journals Database(VIP), Wanfang Database, Embase, and the Cochrane Library, from inception to February, 2017. The Cochrane Risk Assessment Tool was adopted to assess the methodological quality of the RCTs. The Review Manager 5.3 software was utilized to conduct the meta-analysis. Results: A total of 41 RCTs involving 4,462 patients were included in the meta-analysis. The results indicated that the combined use of GD and Western medicine(WM) against AP was associated with a higher total effective rate [risk ratio(RR)=1.25, 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.21–1.29, P<0.01], total effective rate of electrocardiogram(RR=1.29, 95% CI: 1.21–1.36, P<0.01). Additional, GD combined with WM could decrease the level of plasma viscosity [mean difference(MD)=–0.56, 95% CI: –0,81 to –0.30, P<0.01], fibrinogen [MD=–1.02, 95% CI: –1.50 to –0.54, P<0.01], whole blood low shear viscosity [MD=–2.27, 95% CI: –3.04 to –1.49, P<0.01], and whole blood high shear viscosity(MD=–0.90, 95% CI: 1.37 to –0.44, P<0.01). Conclusions: Comparing with receiving WM only, the combine use of GD and WM was associated with a better curative effect for patients with AP. | 20 | Value of urine IL-8, NGAL and KIM-1 for the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury in patients with ureteroscopic lithotripsy related urosepsis显示文摘Purpose::To investigate the clinical value of urine interleukin-18(IL-8),neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin(NGAL)and kidney injury molecule-1(KIM-1)for the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury(AKI)in patients with ureteroscopic lithotripsy(URL)related urosepsis.Methods::A retrospective study was carried out in 157 patients with urosepsis after URL.The patients were divided into AKI group and non-AKI group according to the Kidigo guideline and urine IL-8,NGAL and KIM-1 levels were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay at 0,4,12,24 and 48 h after the surgery.Receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of these three biomarkers for postoperative AKI.Results::The level of urine IL-8,NGAL and KIM-1 in AKI group was significantly higher than that in non-AKI group at 4,12,24 and 48 h(p<0.01).The ROC analysis showed the combined detection of urine IL-8,NGAL and KIM-1 at 12 h had a larger area under curve(AUC)than a single marker(0.997,95%CI:0.991-0.998),and the sensitivity and specificity were 98.2%and 96.7%,respectively.Pearson correlation analysis showed that the levels of urine NGAL at 4,12,24 and 48 h in AKI patients were positively correlated with the levels of urine KIM-1 and IL-18(p<0.01).Conclusion::AKI could be quickly recognized by the elevated level of urine IL-8,NGAL and KIM-1 in patients with URL-related urosepsis.Combined detection of the three urine biomarkers at 12 h after surgery had a better diagnostic performance,which may be an important reference for the early diagnosis of AKI. | Dan Tan Liang Zhao Wei Peng Fang-Hao Wu Guo-Bin Zhang Bo Yang Wen-Qian Huo | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2022,25,1: | 6 |
