7Bi-prism-based single-lens three dimensional digital image correlation system with a long working distance: Methodology and application in extreme high temperature deformation test显示文摘As a novel three dimensional digital image correlation(3 D DIC) method, the bi-prism-based single lens(BSL) 3 D DIC method has been proposed and developed in recent years. Making use of a bi-prism, this method is able to perform a 3 D DIC measurement using only a single camera. Thus, the integration level of a BSL 3 D DIC system could be much higher than that of the double-camera3 D DIC system. In this paper, using a small-angle bi-prism and a camera with a longer focal length, a special BSL 3 D DIC system with a long working distance is designed for measurements in extreme environments. The principle of the system is first studied,and practical methods are then proposed for the system set-up and the determination of system parameters. Then, feasibility of the measurement system is verified by out-of-plane rigid-body translation tests. 8Effect of Oxidation-Induced Material Parameter Variation on the High Temperature Oxidation Behavior of Nickel显示文摘In high temperature oxidation environment, the oxidation reaction will induce variations in material parameters, such as Young's modulus, thermal expansion coefficient(CTE),coefficient of oxygen diffusion(COD), etc. The oxidation-induced material parameter variations should be considered in high temperature mechanical analysis. In this paper, high temperature oxidation behavior of an oxide film/metal substrate system was investigated through a modified phase field approach. The oxidative stress and oxidation weight gain induced by high temperature oxidation were studied. Effects of Young's modulus, COD and CTE on oxidative stress in the oxide film were studied particularly. The simulation results showed that a better agreement with the experimental results could be obtained when considering the oxidation-induced material parameter variations in the high temperature mechanical analysis of oxide film/metal substrate system. 9Highly efficient achromatic subdiffraction focusing lens in the near field with large numerical aperture显示文摘The achromatic subdiffraction lens with large numerical aperture(NA)is of significant importance in optical imaging,photolithography,spectroscopy,and nanophotonics.However,most of the previous research on sub-diffraction lenses has been restricted by limited bandwidth and efficiency as well as severe chromatic aberrations.In this paper,a semicircular gradient index lens(sGRIN)with a modified refractive index profile originated from a Maxwell fish-eye lens is put forward to achieve highly efficient(above 81%)achromatic(4–20 GHz)subdiffraction focusing at the focusing line(around 0.28λ)with large NA of 1.3 and broadband diffraction-limited far-field radiation(4–16 GHz)theoretically,which overcomes the drawbacks of previous works.The presented lens is designed by gradient dielectric metamaterials.Evanescent waves ignited at the lens/air interface and transformation of electromagnetic(EM)waves with high spatial frequency in sGRIN to EM waves with low spatial frequency in air are responsible for subdiffraction focusing and diffraction-limited far-field radiation,respectively.Experimental results demonstrate the excellent performance of achromatic subdiffraction focusing and diffraction-limited far-field radiation.The presented lens has great potential to be applied in subdiffraction imaging systems.JIN CHEN HONGCHEN CHU YUN LAI HUANYANG CHEN WEILI SONG MINGJI CHEN DAINING FANG 2021Photonics Research2021,9,10:3

11Analysis of the electromechanical behavior of ferroelectric ceramics based on a nonlinear finite element model显示文摘A nonlinear finite element (FE) model based on domain switching was proposed to study the electromechanical behavior of ferroelectric ceramics. The incremental FE formulation was improved to avoid any calculation instability. The problems of mesh sensitivity and convergence, and the efficiency of the proposed nonlinear FE technique have been assessed to illustrate the versatility and potential accuracy of the said technique. The nonlinear electromechanical behavior, such as the hysteresis loops and butterfly curves,of ferroelectric ceramics subjected to both a uniform electric field and a point electric potential has been studied numerically. The results obtained are in good agreement with those of the corresponding theoretical and experimental analyses.Furthermore, the electromechanical coupling fields near (a) the boundary of a circular hole, (b) the boundary of an elliptic hole and (c) the tip of a crack, have been analyzed using the proposed nonlinear finite element method (FEM). 12Internal field study of 21700 battery based on long-life embedded wireless temperature sensor显示文摘The safety of lithium-ion batteries is an essential concern where instant and accurate temperature sensing is critical.It is generally desired to put sensors inside batteries for instant sensing.However,the transmission of internal measurement outside batteries without interfering their normal state is a non-trivial task due to the harsh electrochemical environment,the particular packaging structures and the intrinsic electromagnetic shielding problems of batteries.In this work,a novel in-situ temperature sensing framework is proposed by incorporating temperature sensors with a novel signal transmission solution.The signal transmission solution uses a self-designed integrated-circuit which modulates the internal measurements outside battery via its positive pole without package breaking.Extensive experimental results validate the noninterference properties of the proposed framework.Our proposed in-situ temperature measurement by the self-designed signal modulation solution has a promising potential for in-situ battery health monitoring and thus promoting the development of smart batteries.Le Yang Na Li Likun Hu Shaoqi Wang Lin Wang Jiang Zhou Wei-Li Song Lei Sun Tai-Song Pan Hao-Sen Chen Daining Fang 2021Acta Mechanica Sinica2021,37,6:3
13Stable wide-temperature and low volume expansion Al batteries:Integrating few-layer graphene with multifunctional cobalt boride nanocluster as positive electrode显示文摘To achieve stable positive electrode for promoting the overall electrochemical performance of Al batteries(ABs),here novel cobalt boride(CoB)nanoclusters are synthesized to construct composite electrodes with few-layer graphene(FLG).Due to the presence of amorphous channels in the employed CoB nanoclusters,the ABs with FLG/CoB composite positive electrodes exhibit high rate.capability and both mechanical and electrochemical stability in the ABs.With assistance of in situ scanning electron microscopy(SEM),the observation results suggest that the positive electrode of CoB nanoclusters holds almost ignorable volume variation upon electrochemical processes,which substantially alleviates the massive electrode expansion induced by the anion intercalation in the composite positive electrode.Interestingly,the composite positive electrodes provide stable reversible energy storage capability within a broadened temperature range(-30-60℃),promising a novel strategy to design advanced ABs positive electrodes with enhanced overall energy storage performance.Li-Li Chen Na Li Huifeng Shi Yuefei Zhang Wei-Li Song Shuqiang Jiao Haosen Chen Daining Fang 2020Nano Research2020,13,2:2
14Micro and nanolattice fabrication using projection micro litho stereo exposure additive manufacturing techniques and synchrotron X-ray 3D imaging-based defect characterization显示文摘Synchrotron radiation X-ray micro-computed tomography(SR-μCT)is a 3D imaging technique that is widely employed for the characterization of defects in advanced materials and structures.In this study,we characterize several typical defects in octettruss and re-entrant 3D lattice structures by using SR-μCT.The 3D micro-lattice structures are manufactured using projection micro litho stereo exposure(PμLSE)additive manufacturing technology.The as-fabricated 3D lattice samples are characterized using optical microscopy,and subsequently,by SR-μCT.Further more,a statistical analysis is performed to characterize the surface roughness and internal defects qualitatively,whereby the statistical geometrical parameters of struts along different directions and strut joints are analyzed and classified.Consequently,several typical defects are identified:(1)holes at the joints of the strut and irregular diameter deviations of the strut in the octet-truss lattice structure;(2)irregular diameter variations,bulges,dislocations,grooves,accumulations,and torsion in the re-entrant lattice structure.All of these defects are related to the building direction,the weight of the structure,bubbles,dust,and impurities during the PμLSE additive manufacturing process.HU WenXia LIU LiWu WU WenWang XI Li LENG JinSong FANG DaiNing 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,4:2
15A phase-field study on the oxidation behavior of Ni considering heat conduction显示文摘Phase-field modeling approach has been used to study the oxidation behavior of pure Ni when considering heat conduction. In this calculation, the dependence of the coefficient of the Cahn–Hilliard equation Lc on the temperature T was considered. To this end, high-temperature oxidation experiments and phase-field modeling for pure Ni were performed in air under atmospheric pressure at 600,700, and 800?C. The oxidation rate was measured by thermogravimetry and Lc at these temperatures was determined via interactive algorithm. With the Lc-T relationship constructed, oxidation behavior of Ni when considering heat conduction was investigated. The influence of temperature boundaries on the oxidation degree, oxide film thickness, and specific weight gain were discussed. 16Domain-switching embedded nonlinear electromechanical finite element method for ferroelectric ceramics显示文摘To simulate the nonlinear behavior of ferroelectric structures and devices under non-uniform electromechanical loadings,a domain-switching embedded electromechanical finite element method is developed in this paper.Following continuum assumption,the electromechanical behavior of each representative material point can be obtained by averaging the behavior of the local corresponding microstructure,e.g.42 domains used in this work.A new Double Gibbs free energy criterion for domain-switching is proposed to ensure the convergence and stability of the simulations on ferroelectrics under non-uniform field.Several computational examples are given to demonstrate that this nonlinear finite element method can yield reasonable and stable simulation results which can be used to explain some experimental results and assist the design of ferroelectric devices.LIU Bin FANG DaiNing 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,4:2
17Electrochemomechanical coupled behaviors of deformation and failure in electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘The growing demands of lithium-ion batteries with high energy density motivate the development of high-capacity electrode materials. The critical issue in the commercial application of these electrodes is electrochemomechanical degradation accompanied with the large volume change, built-in stress, and fracture during lithiation and delithiation. The strong and complex couplings between mechanics and electrochemistry have been extensively studied in recent years. The multi-directional couplings, e.g.,(de)lithiation-induced effects and stress-regulated effects, require cooperation in the interdisciplinary fields and advance the theoretical and computational models. In this review, we focus on the recent work with topics in the electrochemomechanical couplings of deformation and fracture of conventional and alloying electrodes through experimental characterization, theoretical and computational models. Based on the point of view from mechanics, the strategies for alleviating the degradation are also discussed, with particular perspectives for component-interaction patterns in the composite electrodes. 18Thickness evolution of commercial Li-ion pouch cells with siliconbased composite anodes and NCA cathodes显示文摘It is significant to monitor the thickness change of commercial Li-ion pouch cells that are assembled from Si-based electrodes and layered cathodes since the volume variation is critically linked with kinetic reaction mechanism and chemomechanical degradation. In this work, the single-point and full-field measurements are conducted on the thickness evolution of Si Ox/Cgraphite/lithium nickel-cobalt-aluminum oxide(Si Ox-G/NCA) batteries. It is found that an abnormal overshoot that has been rarely observed in the previous studies appears at the beginning of discharge, which is believed to be the combined results between the rapid expansion of NCA and the contraction of graphite related to the state of charge(SOC).
