| 3 | Spatial Variability of Soil Organic Carbon and Related Factors in Jiangsu Province,China显示文摘Soil organic carbon (SOC) plays a key role in the global carbon cycle.In this study,we used statistical and geostatistical methods to characterize and compare the spatial heterogeneity of SOC in soils of Jiangsu Province,China,and investigate the factors that influence it,such as topography,soil type,and land use.Our study was based on 24 186 soil samples obtained from the surface soil layer (0-0.2 m) and covering the entire area of the province.Interpolated values of SOC density in the surface layer,obtained by kriging based on a spherical model,ranged between 3.25 and 32.43 kg m 3.The highest SOC densities tended to occur in the Taihu Plain,Lixia River Plain,along the Yangtze River,and in high-elevation hilly areas such as those in northern and southwest Jiangsu,while the lowest values were found in the coastal plain.Elevation,slope,soil type,and land use type significantly affected SOC densities.Steeper slope tended to result in SOC decline.Correlation between elevation and SOC densities was positive in the hill areas but negative in the low plain areas,probably due to the effect of different land cover types,temperature,and soil fertility.High SOC densities were usually found in limestone and paddy soils and low densities in coastal saline soils and alluvial soils,indicating that high clay and silt contents in the soils could lead to an increase,and high sand content to a decrease in the accumulation of SOC.SOC densities were sensitive to land use and usually increased in towns,woodland,paddy land,and shallow water areas,which were strongly affected by industrial and human activities,covered with highly productive vegetation,or subject to long-term use of organic fertilizers or flooding conditions. | CHUAI Xiao-Wei HUANG Xian-Jin WANG Wan-Jing ZHANG Mei LAI Li LIAO Qi-Lin | 2012 | Pedosphere2012,22,3: | 20 |
| 4 | Monkeypox virus:a re-emergent threat to humans显示文摘Human monkeypox(MPX)is a rare zoonotic infection characterized by smallpox-like signs and symptoms.It is caused by monkeypox virus(MPXV),a double stranded DNA virus belonging to the genus Orthopoxvirus.MPX was first identified in 1970 and mostly prevailed in the rural rainforests of Central and West Africa in the past.Outside Africa,MPX was reported in the United Kingdom,the USA,Israel,and Singapore.In 2022,the resurgence of MPX in Europe and elsewhere posed a potential threat to humans.MPXV was transmitted by the animals-human or human-human pathway,and the symptoms of MPXV infection are similar to that of smallpox,but in a milder form and with lower mortality(1%–10%).Although the smallpox vaccination has been shown to provide 85%protection against MPXV infection,and two anti-smallpox virus drugs have been approved to treat MPXV,there are still no specific vaccines and drugs against MPXV infection.Therefore it is urgent to take active measures including the adoption of novel anti-MPXV strategies to control the spread of MPXV and prevent MPX epidemic.In this review,we summarize the biological features,epidemiology,pathogenicity,laboratory diagnosis,and prevention and treatment strategies on MPXV.This review provides the basic knowledge for prevention and control of future outbreaks of this emerging infection. | Qizan Gong Changle Wang Xia Chuai Sandra Chiu | 2022 | Virologica Sinica2022,37,4: | 12 |
| 5 | Carbon Emission of Regional Land Use and Its Decomposition Analysis: Case Study of Nanjing City, China显示文摘Through the matching relationship between land use types and carbon emission items, this paper estimated carbon emissions of different land use types in Nanjing City, China and analyzed the influencing factors of carbon emissions by Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index(LMDI) model. The main conclusions are as follows: 1) Total anthropogenic carbon emission of Nanjing increased from 1.22928 x 107 t in 2000 to 3.06939 x 107 t in 2009, in which the carbon emission of Inhabitation, mining & manufacturing land accounted for 93% of the total. 2) The average land use carbon emission intensity of Nanjing in 2009 was 46.63 t/ha, in which carbon emission intensity of Inhabitation, mining & manufacturing land was the highest(200.52 t/ha), which was much higher than that of other land use types. 3) The average carbon source intensity in Nanjing was 16 times of the average carbon sink intensity(2.83 t/ha) in 2009, indicating that Nanjing was confronted with serious carbon deficit and huge carbon cycle pressure. 4) Land use area per unit GDP was an inhibitory factor for the increase of carbon emissions, while the other factors were all contributing factors. 5) Carbon emission effect evaluation should be introduced into land use activities to formulate low-carbon land use strategies in regional development. | ZHAO Rongqin HUANG Xianjin LIU Ying ZHONG Taiyang DING Minglei CHUAI Xiaowei | 2015 | Chinese Geographical Science2015,25,2: | 10 |
| 6 | High-performance Zn battery with transition metal ions co-regulated electrolytic MnO_(2)显示文摘Electrolytic MnO_(2)/Zn batteries have attracted extensive attention for use in large-scale energy storage applications due to their low cost,high output voltage,safety,and environmental friendliness.However,the poor electrical conductivity of MnO_(2)limits its deposition and dissolution at large capacities,which leads to sluggish reaction kinetics and drastic capacity decay.Here,we report a theory-guided design principle for an electrolytic MnO_(2)/Zn battery co-regulated with transition metal ions that has improved electrochemical performance in terms of deposition and stripping chemistries.We start with first-principles calculations to predict the electrolytic effects of regulating transition metal ions in the deposition/stripping chemistry of the MnO_(2)cathode.The results indicate that with the simultaneous incorporation of strongly electronegative Co and Ni,the MnO_(2)cathode tends to possess more active electron states,faster charge-transfer kinetics,and better electrical conductivity than either MnO_(2)regulated with Co or Ni on their own,or pristine MnO_(2);hence,this co-regulation is beneficial for the cathode solid/liquid MnO_(2)/Mn2t reactions.We then fabricate and demonstrate a novel Co2t and Ni2t coregulated MnO_(2)/Zn(Co-Ni-MnO_(2)/Zn)battery that yields significantly better electrochemical performance,finding that the synergistic regulation of Co and Ni on MnO_(2)can significantly increase its intrinsic conductivity and achieve high rates and Coulombic efficiencies at large capacities.The aqueous Co-Ni-MnO_(2)/Zn battery exhibits a high rate(10C,100 mA cm^(-2)),high Coulombic efficiency(91.89%),and excellent cycling stability(600 cycles without decay)at a large areal capacity of 10 mAh cm^(-2).Our proposed strategy of co-regulation with transition metal ions offers a versatile approach for improving the electrochemical performance of aqueous electrolytic MnO_(2)/Zn batteries in large-scale energy storage applications. | Mingyan Chuai Jinlong Yang Mingming Wang Yuan Yuan Zaichun Liu Yan Xu Yichen Yin Jifei Sun Xinhua Zheng Na Chen Wei Chen | 2021 | eScience2021,1,2: | 8 |

| 9 | Toward dendrite-free and anti-corrosion Zn anodes by regulating a bismuth-based energizer显示文摘Aqueous rechargeable zinc metal batteries display high theoretical capacity along with economical effectiveness,environmental benignity and high safety.However,dendritic growth and chemical corrosion at the Zn anodes limit their widespread applications.Here,we construct a Zn/Bi electrode via in-situ growth of a Bi-based energizer upon Zn metal surface using a replacement reaction.Experimental and theoretical calculations reveal that the Bi-based energizer composed of metallic Bi and ZnBi alloy contributes to Zn plating/stripping due to strong adsorption energy and fast ion transport rates.The resultant Zn/Bi electrode not only circumvents Zn dendrite growth but also improves Zn anode anti-corrosion performance.Specifically,the corrosion current of the Zn/Bi electrode is reduced by 90%compared to bare Zn.Impressively,an ultra-low overpotential of 12mV and stable cycling for 4000h are achieved in a Zn/Bi symmetric cell.A Zn–Cu/Bi asymmetric cell displays a cycle life of 1000 cycles,with an average Coulombic efficiency as high as 99.6%.In addition,an assembled Zn/Bi-activated carbon hybrid capacitor exhibits a stable life of more than 50,000 cycles,an energy density of 64Wh kg−1,and a power density of 7kWkg−1.The capacity retention rate of a Zn/Bi–MnO_(2)full cell is improved by over 150%compared to a Zn–MnO_(2)cell without the Bi-based energizer.Our findings open a new arena for the industrialization of Zn metal batteries for large-scale energy storage applications. | Mingming Wang Yahan Meng Ke Li Touqeer Ahmad Na Chen Yan Xu Jifei Sun Mingyan Chuai Xinhua Zheng Yuan Yuan Chunyue Shen Ziqi Zhang Wei Chen | 2022 | eScience2022,2,5: | 4 |
