Numerical simulation of the pulsing air separation field based on CFD显示文摘The flow field of pulsing air separation is normally in an unsteady turbulence state. With the application of the basic principles of multiphase turbulent flows,we established the dynamical computational model, which shows a remarkable variation of the unstable pulsing air flow field.CFD(computational fluid dynamics) was used to conduct the numerical simulation of the actual geometric model of the classifier. The inside velocity of the flowing fields was analyzed later. The simulation results indicate that the designed structure of the active pulsing air classifier provided a favorable environment for the separation of the particles with different physical characters by density. We shot the movement behaviors of the typical tracer grains in the active pulsing flow field using a high speed dynamic camera. The displacement and velocity curves of the particles in the continuous impulse periods were then analyzed. The experimental results indicate that the effective separation by density of the particles with the same settling velocity and different ranges of the density and particle size can be achieved in the active pulsing airflow field. The experimental results provide an agreement with the simulation results. He Jingfeng He Yaqun Zhao Yuemin Duan Chenlong Ye Cuiling 2012International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,2:12
Numerical simulation and experimental verification of bubble size distribution in an air dense medium fluidized bed显示文摘Bubble size distribution is the basic apparent performance and obvious characteristics in the air dense medium fluidized bed (ADMFB). The approaches of numerical simulation and experimental verification were combined to conduct the further research on the bubble generation and movement behavior. The results show that ADMFB could display favorable expanded characteristics after steady fluidization. With different particle size distributions of magnetite powder as medium solids, we selected an appropriate prediction model for the mean bubble diameter in ADMFB. The comparison results indicate that the mean bubble diameters along the bed heights are 35 mm < D b < 66 mm and 40 mm < D b < 69 mm with the magnetite powder of 0.3 mm+0.15mm and 0.15mm+0.074mm, respectively. The prediction model provides good agreements with the experimental and simulation data. Based on the optimal operating gas velocity distribution, the mixture of magnetite powder and <1mm fine coal as medium solids were utilized to carry out the separation experiment on 6-50mm raw coal. The results show that an optimal separation density d P of 1.73g/cm 3 with a probable error E of 0.07g/cm 3 and a recovery efficiency of 99.97% is achieved, which indicates good separation performance by applying ADMFB.He Jingfeng Zhao Yuemin Luo Zhenfu He Yaqun Duan Chenlong 2013International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,3:11
Characteristics analysis of a novel centralized-driving flip-flow screen显示文摘During screening operation, blinding or clogging of screen perforations generally occurs to reduce the sieving capacity and efficiency. Recently, the flip-flow screening has been widely recognized as a feasible method to deal with the problem. In this paper, a novel centralized-driving flip-flow screen(CFS) was developed for the separation of fine and moist coal, and the key structures, namely, a centralized-driving mechanism and a quasi-circle beam mounted with the mat were designed for high reliability and stability. By means of a test on an experimental prototype, the effect of some factors, i.e., initial stretch and hardness of the polyurethane panel, respectively, and the rotation speed of the driving motor on the kinematic characteristic of the screen surface was investigated. Results show that without an initial stretch, the sieve mat generates the largest vibratory amplitude while the slacker the sieve mat initially is, the smaller amplitude it will accomplish. And an increase in the rotation speed could cause a rise in the vibratory amplitude. Unlike the two factors, the hardness does not have a definite effect on the kinematic performance, on which a further study is required. Finally, screening processing on a laboratory prototype was conducted to draw the conclusion that the developed CFS also has a high sieving efficiency for the fine and moist coal.Peng Liping Li Fengming Dong Hailin Liu Chusheng Zhao Yuemin Duan Chenlong 2014International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2014,24,2:9
Relationship between coal size reduction and energy input in Hardgrove mill显示文摘Hardgrove grindability index (HGI) is an important indicator of coal grindability, and is one of the most important parameters to determine the capacity of coal pulverizer in power station. However, HGI is an empirical grindability index without linkages to any known physical parameters. To investigate the effect of energy input on the grinding in Hardgrove mill, a T20WN torque meter was installed on the shaft of a modified Hardgrove mill to record the torque driving the mill. Samples from four kinds of coals with HGI ranging from 36 to 72 were prepared according to the procedure of standard HGI test and ground in a modified Hardgrove mill at different revolutions. The relation of sample size reduction degree to specific comminution energy (E cs ) was studied with Shi-Kojovic model. The results show that Shi-Kojovic model predicted well the coal size reduction degree with E cs in Hardgrove mill. The grindability index given by Shi-Kojovic model has a similar trend with HGI. The relation of sample size reduction degree to E cs reveals that HGI has a non-linear relationship with effective specific energy in Hardgrove mill, which explains the non-linear relation of HGI to industrial pulverizer capacity.Zuo Weiran Zhao Yuemin He Yaqun Shi Fengnian Duan Chenlong 2012International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,1:8
Effect of the distributor plugging ways on fluidization quality and particle stratification in air dense medium fluidized bed显示文摘Gas-solid fluidized bed separation is a highly efficient and clean technique for coal separation, and can effectively remove ash and sulfur contained gangue minerals from coal. However, the fine coal plugging distributor often leads to uneven fluidization and affects the separation effect. In this paper, different plugging ways were designed to study their effects on the fluidization characteristics and particle mixing. It was found that when the plugging phenomenon occurs, the minimum fluidization velocity of the fluidized bed gradually decreases as the plugging area enlarges. The difference between the top and the bottom of the bed minimum fluidization velocity increases accordingly, and a“stagnation phenomenon”occurs in the bed.The standard deviation of pressure fluctuations at the top of the bed is smaller than that at the bottom of the bed, which is the opposite of normal conditions. As the area of the plugging increases, the dead zone on the side wall of the fluidized bed significantly increases. The size of the dead zone is rapid reducing at the initial stage. It was noticed that the stratification of the low-density products is particularly affected by plugging, whereas the stratification of high-density products is not obviously influenced by certain conditions.Zhonglin Gao Xuesen Chai Enhui Zhou Ying Jia Chenlong Duan Ligang Tang 2020International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2020,30,6:7
A model for predicting bubble rise velocity in a pulsed gas solid fluidized bed显示文摘Bed stability, and especially the bed density distribution, is affected by the behavior of bubbles in a gas solid fluidized bed. Bubble rise velocity in a pulsed gas-solid fluidized bed was studied using photographic and computational fluid dynamics methods. The variation in bubble rise velocity was investigated as a function of the periodic pulsed air flow. A predictive model of bubble rise velocity was derived: ub=ψ(Ut+Up-Umf)+kp(gdb)(1/2). The software of Origin was used to fit the empirical coefficients to give ψ = 0.4807 and kp = 0.1305. Experimental verification of the simulations shows that the regular change in bubble rise velocity is accurately described by the model. The correlation coefficient was 0.9905 for the simulations and 0.9706 for the experiments.Dong Liang Zhao Yuemin Luo Zhenfu Duan Chenlong Wang Yingwei Yang Xuliang Zhang Bo 2013International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,2:4
Size distribution of wet crushed waste printed circuit boards显示文摘A wet impact crusher was used to breakdown waste printed circuit boards (PCB's) in a water medium. The relationship between the yield of crushed product and the operating parameters was established. The crushing mechanism was analyzed and the effects of hammerhead style, rotation speed, and inlet water volume on particle size distribution were investigated. The results show that the highest yield of 1 + 0.75 mm sized product was obtained with an inlet water volume flow rate of 5.97 m 3 /h and a smooth hammerhead turning at 1246.15 r/min. Cumulative undersize-product yield curves were fitted to a nonlinear function: the fitting correlation coefficient was greater than 0.998. These research results provide a theoretical basis for the highly effective wet crushing of PCB's.Tan Zhihai He Yaqun Xie Weining Duan Chenlong Zhou Enhui Yu Zheng 2011Mining Science and Technology2011,21,3:4

A method to improve fluidization quality in gas-solid fluidized bed for fine coal beneficiation显示文摘Dry coal separation has become essential in China because it does not consume water and it reduces environmental pollution. In this study, a method for improving fluidization quality in a fluidized bed separator using a micropore sponge is proposed. The separator is used for fine coal beneficiation. The pressure drop across the distributor and bed fluidization characteristics were analyzed to evaluate fluidization quality. The beneficiation efficiency for fine coal was further investigated by using a laboratory-scale fluidized bed with and without a micropore sponge. With the sponge, the highest pressure drop fluctuation factor decreased from 0.23 to 0.16, indicating an improvement in density stability. The modified separation method reduced the ash content of a sample of fine coal from 23.83% to 10.70%. The probable error efficiency value E for -6 + 3 mm coal was 0.12g/cm^3, close to the efficiency error values reported for other dry-beneficiation techniques. The separation results show that using a sponge in the fluidized bed can readily improve the efficiency of fine coal beneficiation.Chenyang Zhou Xuchen Fan Chenlong Duan Yuemin Zhao 2019Particuology2019,17,2:4
CFD-DEM simulation of fluid-solid flow of a tapered column separation bed显示文摘Research on recycling waste Printed Circuit Boards(PCB) is at the forefront of preventing environmental pollution and finding ways to recycle resources. The Tapered Column Separation Bed(TCSB) is invented aiming at disposing the problem that fine particles of waste printed circuit boards cannot be separated efficiently so as to obtain further insight about the underlying mechanisms and demonstrate the separation feasibility in the tapered column separation bed.In this work,a Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) coupled with Discrete Element Method(DEM) model for two-phase flow has been extended to simulate the fluid-solid flow in the tapered column separation bed.Its validity is demonstrated by its successful capturing the key features of particles' flow pattern, velocity, the pressure distribution, the axial position with time and axial force for particles with different densities.Simulation results show that the plastic particles and resin particles become overflow, while copper particles, iron particles and aluminum particles successively become underflow, with a discharge water flow rate of 1 m^3/h,an obliquity of 30°.The simulated results agree reasonably well with the experimental observation.Using this equipment to separate waste PCBs is feasible, theoretically.Duan Chenlong Sheng Cheng Wu Lingling Zhao Yuemin He Jinfeng 2015International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2015,25,5:4
Characteristics of pressure fluctuations and fine coal preparation in gas-vibro fluidized bed显示文摘To improve the separation efficiency of air dense medium fluidized beds for dry coal preparation,a gasvibro fluidized bed has been proposed in which magnetic powder is used as the heavy medium.Pressure fluctuations in the gas-vibro fluidized bed were investigated using time-and frequency-domain analysis methods. The relationship between pressure fluctuations, bubble behavior, and separation efficiency was established. The low amplitude of the standard deviation, the power spectral density(PSD),the incoherent-output PSD,and the high amplitude of the coherent-output PSD,which corresponds to the bubble behavior in the bed, were improved for coal preparation. The coal ash content was reduced from 42.55% to 16.54% by using the gas-vibro fluidized bed.Liang Dong Yuemin Zhao Liping Peng Jie Zhao Zhenfu Luo Qingxia Liu Chenlong Duan 2015Particuology2015,13,4:4
Analysis and evaluation on pressure fluctuations in air dense medium fluidized bed显示文摘Pressure fluctuations contribute to the instability of separation process in air dense medium fluidized bed, which provides a high motivation for further study of underlying mechanisms. Reasons for generation and propagation of pressure fluctuations in the air dense medium fluidized bed have been discussed.Drift rate and collision rate of particles were employed to deduce the correlation between voidage and pressure fluctuations. Simultaneously, a dynamic pressure fluctuation measuring and analysis system was established. Based on frequency domain analysis and wavelet analysis, collected signals were disassembled and analyzed. Results show gradually intensive motion of particles increases magnitudes of signal components with lower frequencies. As a result of violent particle motion, the magnitude of real pressure signal's frequency experienced an increase as air velocity increased moderately. Wavelet analysis keeps edge features of the real signal and eliminates the noise efficaciously. The frequency of denoised signal is closed to that of pressure signal identified in frequency domain analysis.Sheng Cheng Duan Chenlong Zhao Yuemin Dong Liang Luo Zhenfu 2018International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2018,28,3:3
Progress in developments of dry coal beneficiation显示文摘China’s energy supply heavily relies on coal and China’s coal resource and water resource has a reverse distribution. The problem of water shortages restricts the applications of wet coal beneficiation technologies in drought regions. The present situation highlights the significance and urgency of developing dry beneficiation technologies of coal.Besides, other countries that produce large amounts of coal also encounter serious problem of lack of water for coal beneficiation, such as American,Australia,Canada,South Africa,Turkey and India. Thus, dry coal beneficiation becomes the research hot-points in the field of coal cleaning worldwide in recent years. This paper systematically reviewed the promising research efforts on dry coal beneficiation reported in literature in last 5 years and discussed the progress in developments of dry coal beneficiation worldwide. Finally,we also elaborated the prospects and the challenges of the development of dry coal beneficiation.Yuemin Zhao Xuliang Yang Zhenfu Luo Chenlong Duan Shulei Song 2014International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2014,1,1:3
Changes of the Levels of Blood NO and TNF-αConcentrations in Water Buffaloes and Goats Infected with Fasciola hepatica显示文摘Changes of concentrations were studied in water buffaloes and goats infected with Fasciola he-patica on blood NO(nitric oxide) and TNF-α(tumor necrosis factor-α). Twenty healthy male castrated waterbuffaloes of 2 - 3 years old and weighing 300 - 500 kg as well as six goats were confirmed free of fasciolosis byfecal examination and Dot-ELISA. Two studies were conducted using the water buffaloes. In the first experi-ment, 8 water buffaloes were randomly divided into control group (n=3) and infection group (n=5). Eachbuffalo in the infected group received orally 60 metacercariae of F. hepatica per day for 20 days (total 1 200metacercariae) to produce a chronic infection. In the second experiment, 12 water buffaloes were randomly di-vided into infected (n=9) and control group (n=3). Each buffalo in the infected group was given a singleoral dose of 1 600 metacercariae to produce an acute infection. The 6 goats were randomly divided into two in-fected groups and a control group. The sheep in two infections received a single oral dose of 200 and 500 meta-cercariae respectively, the control group remained uninfected. Blood NO and TNF-α concentrations of the testanimals were measured by a reductive enzyme assay and RIA, respectively. Blood NO concentration in bothacutely and chronically infected water buffaloes progressively increased from week 3 post-infection and was sig-nificantly greater than that of the control group (P<0.05) at the 5th week (acute infection) and 7th week(chronic infection), and remaining at higher concentration for the remaining period of the studies. BloodTNF-αt concentrations in both chronically and acutely infected water buffaloes also increased after infection. Inthe goat experiment, plasma NO concentrations in both infection groups increased from week 3 after infection, and remained higher than that of the control group until the end of the experiment. TNF-α concentrations ingoats in infection group 1 and 2 gradually increased after infection and were significantly greater than those ofthe control group from the 9th to 11th week and from the 11th to 15th week respectively.WANGBing-yun CHENLong2003Agricultural Sciences in China2003,2,3:2
Soft computing-based predictive modeling of flexible electrohydrodynamic pumps显示文摘Flexible electrohydrodynamic(EHD)pumps have been developed and applied in many fields due to no transmission structure,no wear, easy manipulation, and no noise.Physical simulation is often used to predict the output performance of flexible EHD pumps. However, this method neglects fluid–solid interaction and energy loss caused by flexible materials, which are both difficult to calculate when the flexible pumps deform. Therefore, this study proposes a flexible pump output performance prediction using machine learning algorithms. We used three different types of machine learning:random forest regression, ridge regression, and neural network to predict the critical parameters(pressure, flow rate, and power)of the flexible EHD pump.Voltage, angle, gap, overlap, and channel height are selected as five input data of the neural network. In addition,we optimized essential parameters in the three networks. Finally,we adopt the best predictive model and evaluate the significance of five input parameters to the output performance of the flexible EHD pumps.Among the three methods, the MLP model has exceptionally high accuracy in predicting pressure and flow. Our work is beneficial for the design process of fluid sources in flexible soft actuators and soft hydraulic sources in microfluidic chips.Zebing Mao Yanhong Peng Chenlong Hu Ruqi Ding Yuhei Yamada Shingo Maeda 2023Biomimetic Intelligence & Robotics2023,3,3:2
Variable elliptical vibrating screen: Particles kinematics and industrial application显示文摘Traditional vibrating screen usually adopts the linear centralized excitation mode, which causes the difficulty in particles loosening and low screening efficiency. The variable elliptical vibrating screen(VEVS)trajectory is regulated to adapt the material mass along the direction of the screen length, improving the particles distribution as well as the screening efficiency. In this work,a theoretical model was developed for analyzing the screen surface motion law during VEVS-based screening process. An equation was obtained to show the relationship between the horizontal amplitude and the vertical amplitude. The materials kinetic characteristics were studied by using high-speed camera during screening process.Compared with equal-amplitude screen(EAS),the material moving velocity was increased by 13.03%on the first half but decreased by 3.52% on the second half, and the total screening time was reduced by 9.42% by using VEVS.In addition,-6 mm screening test was carried out.At the length of VEVS equaled to 1.2 m,the screening efficiency and the total misplaced material content were 92.50% and 2.90%,respectively.However,the screening efficiency was 89.91% and the total misplaced material content was 3.76% during EAS-based screening process.Furthermore, when external moisture is 5.96%,the screening efficiency of VEVS could reach 86.95%.The 2 TKB50113 type VEVS with double-layered screen surface used in Huoshizui Coal Mine was 5.0 m in width and 11.3 m in length. The areas of single layer and double layer were 56.5 and 113 m~2,respectively.In industrial production, the processing capacity was 2500-3000 t/h and the screening efficiency was larger than 90%.Chenlong Duan Jiale Yuan Miao Pan Tao Huang Haishen Jiang Yuemin Zhao Jinpeng Qiao Weinan Wang Shijie Yu Jiawang Lu 2021International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,6:2
