| 1 | Effects of Forest Gaps on Some Microclimate Variables in Castanopsis kawakamii Natural Forest显示文摘The objective of this study was to understand the effects of forest gap and variations in different seasons, gap size, locations and diurnal variations on forest microclimate and soil water content. Spatial and temporal distribution features of air temperature (TA ), soil temperature (TS ), relative humidity (h) and soil water content (Ψ) were measured in Castanopsis kawakamii natural forest gaps created by a severe typhoon or fallen dead trees. The results showed that: (1) the variations of TA , h, and TS in four seasons were extremely significant. The variations of Ψ in four seasons were extremely significant except for those between spring and summer. (2) The diurnal variations of TA and T S were expressed with a single peak curve. The diurnal variations of h and Ψ presented a high-low-high trend. (3) The variations of TA , h, and TS were extremely significant among the large, medium and small gaps in C. kawakamii natural forest. Medium gaps had the highest TA and the lowest h while small gaps were just contrary to medium gaps. The variations of Ψ were extremely significant for large, medium and small gaps except those between the medium and large gaps. (4) The TA , h, TS and Ψ were decreased from the gap center, canopy gap, expanded gap to understory. | 4 | Recent advances in nanoporous graphene membrane for gas separation and water purification显示文摘Graphene is a one-atom-thick sheet of graphite comprising sp2-hybridized carbon atoms arranged in the hexagonal honeycomb lattices. By removing the honeycomb lattices and forming nanopores with specific geometry and size, nanoporous graphene has been demonstrated as a very high-efficiency separation membrane, due to the ultrafast molecular permeation rate for its one-atom thickness. This review focuses on the recent advances in nanoporous graphene membrane for the applications of gas separation and water purification, with a major emphasis on the molecular permeation mechanisms and the advanced fabrication methods of this state-of-the-art membrane. We highlight the advanced theoretical and experimental works and discuss the gas/water molecular transport mechanisms through the graphene nanopores accompanied with theoretical models. In addition, we summarize some representative membrane fabrication methods, covering the graphene transfer to porous substrates and the pore generation. | 6 | Molecular sieving through a graphene nanopore: non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulation显示文摘Two-dimensional graphene nanopores have shown great promise as ultra-permeable molecular sieves based on their size-sieving effects. We design a nitrogen/hydrogen modified graphene nanopore and conduct a transient non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulation on its molecular sieving effects. The distinct time-varying molecular crossing numbers show that this special nanopore can efficiently sieve CO_2 and H_2S molecules from CH_4 molecules with high selectivity. By analyzing the molecular structure and pore functionalization-related molecular orientation and permeable zone in the nanopore, density distribution in the molecular adsorption layer on the graphene surface, as well as other features, the molecular sieving mechanisms of graphene nanopores are revealed. | 10 | Spatial analysis of carbon storage density of mid-subtropical forests using geostatistics: a case study in Jiangle County, southeast China显示文摘The mid-subtropical forest is one of the biggest sections of subtropical forest in China and plays a vital role in mitigating climate change by sequestering carbon.Studies have examined carbon storage density(CSD) distribution in temperate forests. However, our knowledge of CSD in subtropical forests is limited. In this study, Jiangle County was selected as a study case to explore geographic variation in CSD. A spatial heterogeneity analysis by semivariogram revealed that CSD varied at less than the mesoscale(approximately 2000–3000 m). CSD distribution mapped using Kriging regression revealed an increasing trend in CSD from west to east of the study area.Global spatial autocorrelation analysis indicated that CSD was clustered at the village level(at 5% significance).Some areas with local spatial autocorrelation were detected by Anselin Local Moran's I and Getis-Ord G*. A geographically weighted regression model showed different impacts on the different areas for each determinant. Generally, diameter at breast height, tree height, and stand density had positive correlation with CSD in Jiangle County, but varied substantially in magnitude by location.In contrast, coefficients of elevation and slope ranged from negative to positive. Based on these results, we propose certain measures to increase forest carbon storage,including increasing forested area, improving the quality of the current forests, and promoting reasonable forest management decisions and harvesting strategies. | 11 | Semiempirical equations of state of H_(2)O/CO_(2) binary mixtures in graphite nanoslits显示文摘The existence of confining walls limits the prediction accuracy of nanoconfined fluids using macroscopic equations of state(EOSs);moreover,appropriate EOSs for multicomponent mixture fluids in nanoconfined spaces are missing.Here,we derive the EOS of multicomponent mixture fluids confined in nanospaces at high temperatures and pressures,mainly considering the nanoconfinement effect and the competitive adsorption effect between different components.Then,the EOSs are validated through comparison with the molecular dynamics-simulated Pv T data of CO_(2)/H_(2)O mixtures in graphite nanoslits.To consider the above effects,we derive two EOSs via two modeling methods:EOS I is obtained through modification of the actual component occupation volume in the Peng-Robinson equation of state(PR EOS)by fitting the binary component interaction coefficient and the number of adsorbed molecules according to a selectivity coefficient,while EOS II is obtained by considering the decreased pressure of the fluids in PR EOS by adding an attractive term between components and walls.With the simulation results as a benchmark,the two EOSs exhibited good prediction accuracies under low CO_(2) concentrations,and generally,EOS II was more accurate than EOS I.This study fills the gap in the EOSs of nanoconfined mixture fluids,and the obtained equations can help to further describe the thermodynamic properties of confined mixture fluids. | Haoxuan Li Bin Zhao Chengzhen Sun Bofeng Bai | 2023 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2023,66,8: | 2 |
| 12 | Spatio-temporal variation of ecosystem service values adjusted by vegetation cover:a case study of Wuyishan National Park Pilot,China显示文摘Ecosystem service values(ESV)are strongly influenced by the vegetation cover,which is heterogeneous across different vegetation types.We develop a dynamic evaluation model of ESV for Wuyishan National Park Pilot adjusted by the rate of inflation and the fractional vegetation cover,which is calculated by an enhanced vegetation index from 2000 to 2018.The spatio-temporal variation of vegetation was also examined.The results demonstrated that:(1)the unit area of ecosystem service values adjusted by vegetation cover(ESVVC)shows a gradient of forest>tea plantation>grassland>cropland,and the major ecosystem services provided by forests include soil formation and conservation,climate regulation,and biodiversity maintenance;(2)the ESV_(VC) increased to 2.1 billion yuan(The reference rate announced by the People’s Bank of China is the US dollar to 6.42 Yuan per dollar.)from 2000 to 2018.Higher and lower ESV_(VC) are predominant in the northwest and southeast region,respectively.In addition,changes of ecological protection structures and human disturbances negatively affected vegetation cover,leading to a decreased ESVVC from 2000 to 2005 in the Jiuqu Stream Ecological Protection Area and the Wuyishan National Scenic Spot.The implementation of ecological protection policies from 2010 to 2018 enhanced the ESV_(VC) in the study area;and,(3)the ESVVC is highest in the southeast and 25°–35°area with altitudes of 800–1000 m.Our model can provide timely and helpful information of changes in ESV for use in ecological corridor design and ecological security monitoring. | Sen Lin Xisheng Hu Hong Chen Chengzhen Wu Wei Hong | 2022 | Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,3: | 2 |

| 16 | The influence of pore structures and Lewis acid sites on selective hydrogenolysis of guaiacol to benzene over Ru/TS-1显示文摘Here,we report a Ru/TS-1 catalyst for selective hydrogenolysis of guaiacol to benzene in the aqueous phase at conditions of 240℃ and 0.2 MPa H2,achieving a benzene yield of 86% with a hydrogenolysis rate of 103.1 mmol g^(-1) h^(-1).It was found that Silicalite-1(MFI type) with suitable pore sizes supported Ru nanoparticles(NPs) favored for hydrogenolysis of guaiacol,whereas de-aluminated Ru/HBEA,Ru/HY and Ru/MWW(without acidic sites) accelerated the parallel reactions of hydrogenation of aromatics.In addition,Ru NPs located at the orifice of Silicalite-1 was proved to be more electron-deficient and active than Ru NPs on the outer surface,as evidenced by CO-IR characterization and activity tests on Ru/Silicalite-1(with and without templates).Moreover,Br?nsted acid sites(BAS) on Ru/MFI highly promoted the hydrogenation rates of aromatics,while Lewis acid sites(LAS) on Ru/TS-1 and Ru/MFI led to a linear increase of guaiacol hydrogenolysis rate to benzene,probably due to the enhanced absorbance capability of guaiacol and phenol on the LAS of MFI.Thus,pore structure properties of MFI coupled with abundant LAS(TS-1) as well as Ru NPs on the orifice of pores of TS-1 construct a promising catalyst for achieving efficient aromatic hydrocarbons from selective hydrogenolysis of lignin. | Yingying Xin Zhaoxia Zheng Zhicheng Luo Chengzhen Jiang Shaofeng Gao Zhihao Wang Chen Zhao | 2022 | Green Energy & Environment2022,7,5: | 1 |
