| 1 | Vegetation NPP Distribution Based on MODIS Data and CASA Model——A Case Study of Northern Hebei Province显示文摘Net Primary Productivity (NPP) is one of the important biophysical variables of vegetation activity, and it plays an important role in studying global carbon cycle, carbon source and sink of ecosystem, and spatial and temporal distri- bution of CO2. Remote sensing can provide broad view quickly, timely and multi-temporally, which makes it an attractive and powerful tool for studying ecosystem primary productivity, at scales ranging from local to global. This paper aims to use Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data to estimate and analyze spatial and temporal dis- tribution of NPP of the northern Hebei Province in 2001 based on Carnegie-Ames-Stanford Approach (CASA) model. The spatial distribution of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (APAR) of vegetation and light use efficiency in three geographical subregions, that is, Bashang Plateau Region, Basin Region in the northwestern Hebei Province and Yanshan Mountainous Region in the Northern Hebei Province were analyzed, and total NPP spatial distribution of the study area in 2001 was discussed. Based on 16-day MODIS Fraction of Photosynthetically Active Radiation absorbed by vegetation (FPAR) product, 16-day composite NPP dynamics were calculated using CASA model; the seasonal dy- namics of vegetation NPP in three subregions were also analyzed. Result reveals that the total NPP of the study area in 2001 was 25.1877×106gC/(m2·a), and NPP in 2001 ranged from 2 to 608gC/(m2·a), with an average of 337.516gC/(m2·a). Recently, many excitingresults have been reported. In this fast growing field, Chinese researchers play more and more activeroles. Research papers from Chinese scholars, both in China and abroad, appear in prestigious academic forums.In this paper, we, nine young Chinese researchers working in the United States, presentconcise surveys and report our recent progress on the selected fields that we are working on.Although the paper covers only a small number of topics and the selection of the topics is far frombalanced, we hope that such an effort would attract more and more researchers, especially thosein China, to enter the frontiers of database research and promote collaborations. | 3 | Two different illites in Luochuan loess, Northern Shaanxi Province显示文摘Two different illites in samples from S0 to L10 loess-paleosol sequence at Heimugou section in Luochuan are identified by decomposition of X-ray diffraction (XRD) curve, transmission electronic microscopy (TEM) and energy dis- persive X-ray detector (EDX) analyses. Type I illite displays relatively poor crystallinity, wide and blunt XRD peaks, the highest content of which in <2 μm clay minerals is up to 55%. Type II illite shows good crystallinity, narrow and sharp XRD peaks. The contents of these two types of illites show mutually exclusive relationship in the studied section. | 6 | A NOVEL BOUNDARY INTEGRAL EQUATION METHOD FOR LINEAR ELASTICITY--NATURAL BOUNDARY INTEGRAL EQUATION显示文摘The boundary integral equation (BIE) of displacement derivatives is put at a disadvantage for the difficulty involved in the evaluation of the hypersingular integrals. In this paper, the operators δij and εij are used to act on the derivative BIE. The boundary displacements, tractions and displacement derivatives are transformed into a set of new boundary tensors as boundary variables. A new BIE formulation termed natural boundary integral equation (NBIE) is obtained. The NBIE is applied to solving two-dimensional elasticity problems. In the NBIE only the strongly singular integrals are contained. The Cauchy principal value integrals occurring in the NBIE are evaluated. A combination of the NBIE and displacement BIE can be used to directly calculate the boundary stresses.
