1Big Earth Data from space: a new engine for Earth science显示文摘Big data is a strategic highland in the era of knowledge-driven economies, and it is also a new type of strategic resource for all nations. Big data collected from space for Earth observation—so-called Big Earth Data—is creating new opportunities for the Earth sciences and revolutionizing the innovation of methodologies and thought patterns. It has potential to advance in-depth development of Earth sciences and bring more exciting scientific discoveries.The Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Forum on Frontiers of Science and Technology for Big Earth Data from Space was held in Beijing in June of 2015.The forum analyzed the development of Earth observation technology and big data, explored the concepts and scientific connotations of Big Earth Data from space, discussed the correlation between Big Earth Data and Digital Earth, and dissected the potential of Big Earth Data from space to promote scientific discovery in the Earth sciences, especially concerning global changes.Huadong Guo Lizhe Wang Dong Liang 2016Science Bulletin2016,61,7:33

3Distribution of meiofaunal abundance in relation to environmental factors in Beibu Gulf,South China Sea显示文摘This study aims to explore the distribution of meiofaunal abundance in relation to environmental factors in the Beibu Gulf,a natural semi-enclosed part of the South China Sea,surrounded by China and Vietnam.Meiofauna and ten benthic environmental factors were determined at 27 sampling stations in the Beibu Gulf in four surveys during 2006-2007.The results show a clear geographical trend in meiofaunal abundance,water depth,salinity and clay content.The meiofaunal abundance and the clay content decreased,whereas the water depth and the salinity increased from the north to the south of the Gulf.The percentage of meiofaunal abundance in the 0-2 cm layer increased,whereas in the 2-5 cm and 5-10 cm layers it decreased from the north to the south of the Gulf.Correlation analysis show significant negative correlations between meiofaunal abundance and water depth,benthic temperature,salinity and pH,but significant positive correlations between meiofaunal abundance and dissolved oxygen,chlorophyll a and clay content.CAI Lizhe FU Sujing YANG Jie ZHOU Xiping 2012Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,6:17
4Studies on the role of marine bacteria in the upwelling ecosystem——Ⅰ.Bacterial biomass in the upwelling regions显示文摘-Six cruises were carried out off the south bank of Fujian - Taiwan during the period of December 21, 1987 to November 15, 1988 to estimate the contribution of bacterial biomass carbon (BBC) to the totai particulate organic pools using epifluorescent microscopic technique. The results show that the standing crop of bacteria fluctuated from 0. 95 to 66. 60 mg /m3 (dry weight). Upwelling phenomena appeared in the region around Nanpeng Island in summer while in the region of Waixie in all seasons. The average value of BBC was 27. 60(±6. 08)mg/m3and 21. 32 (±2. 34) mg/m3 respectively. The seasonal and spatial distribution is discussed in relation to environmental factors as well as upwelling phenomena. 5Bacterial diversity and distribution in the southeast edge of the Tengger Desert and their correlation with soil enzyme activities显示文摘The nature of microbial communities and their relation to enzyme activities in desert soils is a neglected area of investigation. To address this, the bacterial diversity and distribution and soil physico-chemical factors were investigated in the soil crust, the soil beneath the crust and rhizosphere soil at the southeast edge of the Tengger Desert, using the denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis of 16S rRNA genes amplified by the polymerase chain reaction. Phylogenetic analysis of the sequenced DGGE bands revealed a great diversity of bacteria. The Proteobacteria, consisting of the α, β, and γ subdivisions, were clearly the dominant group at all depths and in rhizosphere soil. Analysis of the enzyme activities indicated that the rhizosphere soil of Caragana korshinskii exhibited the highest protease and polyphenol oxidase activities, and in the soil crust there were increased activities of catalase, urease, dehydrogenase and sucrase. The bacterial community abundance closely correlated with soil enzyme activities in different soils. The presence of Cyanobacteria correlated with significant increases in protease, catalase and sucrase in the soil crust, and increased urease in the rhizosphere soil of Artemisia ordosica. The occurrence of Acidobacteria was associated with significant increases in urease, dehydrogenase, and sucrase in the rhizosphere soil of C. korshinski. The presence of γ-Proteobacteria correlated with a significant increase in polyphenol oxidase in the rhizosphere soil of A. ordosica. 7Species composition and distribution of marine nematode community in the North Taiwan Strait显示文摘Marine free-living nematodes were investigated at 13 sampling stations divided into three transects in the northern Taiwan Strait in February 1998. One hundred species of marine nematodes belonging to 91 Genera 28 Families 3 Orders were identified and were first recorded in the northern Taiwan Strait. The dominant species were Vasostoma sp., Sabatieria sp. 1, Linhystera sp. 1, Spilophorella sp., Daptonema sp., Halalaimus sp. and Dorylaimopsis variabilis. Their main densities were all over 4 950 ind./m2. According to mean density at transects, marine nematode density decreased from coastal Weitou to off Minjiang Estuary, which was similar to polychaete distribution in northern Taiwan Strait. The selective deposit feeder (1A) was the dominant food type of marine nematodes in the northern Taiwan Strait, but non-selective deposit feeders (1B) and epigrowth feeders (2A) occupied high proportion, indicating diverse feeding types of marine nematodes in the northern Taiwan Strait. 8Changes in plant community diversity and aboveground biomass along with altitude within an alpine meadow on the Three-River source region显示文摘The grassland is an important component of terrestrial ecosystems and plays a significant role in biodiversity and ecosystem functions.In the present study,the changes of plant species diversity and aboveground biomass productivity were examined along with the altitude in natural alpine grassland in the source region of three rivers on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.Eleven experimental locations were selected with altitudes ranging from 3862 to 4450 m above sea level(a.s.l.).The results indicated that Kobresia pygmaea meadow,Kobresia humilis meadow and Salix cupularis shrub meadow had higher indices of diversity and aboveground biomass.The distribution of species diversity,richness and aboveground biomass showed similarly unimodal patterns across the altitude gradient with the highest indices appeared at mid-altitudes locations.The changing trend of species diversity,richness and evenness also showed significant unimodal patterns with total aboveground biomass,and the highest species diversity occurred at intermediate level of productivities.This research would provide a valuable reference for the protection of grassland biodiversity and maintaining of the grazing ecosystem function in the source region of the Three Rivers.SA WenJun AN LiZhe SA Wei 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,27:10

10Elimination of Fuel Pressure Fluctuation and Multi-injection Fuel Mass Deviation of High Pressure Common-rail Fuel Injection System显示文摘The influence of fuel pressure fluctuation on multi-injection fuel mass deviation has been studied a lot,but the fuel pressure fluctuation at injector inlet is still not eliminated efficiently.In this paper,a new type of hydraulic filter consisting of a damping hole and a chamber is developed for elimination of fuel pressure fluctuation and multi-injection fuel mass deviation.Linear model of the improved high pressure common-rail system(HPCRS)including injector,the pipe connecting common-rail with injector and the hydraulic filter is built.Fuel pressure fluctuation at injector inlet,on which frequency domain analysis is conducted through fast Fourier transformation,is acquired at different target pressure and different damping hole diameter experimentally.The linear model is validated and can predict the natural frequencies of the system.Influence of damping hole diameter on fuel pressure fluctuation is analyzed qualitatively based on the linear model,and it can be inferred that an optimal diameter of the damping hole for elimination of fuel pressure fluctuation exists.Fuel pressure fluctuation and fuel mass deviation under different damping hole diameters are measured experimentally,and it is testified that the amplitude of both fuel pressure fluctuation and fuel mass deviation decreases first and then increases with the increasing of damping hole diameter.The amplitude of main injection fuel mass deviation can be reduced by 73%at most under pilot-main injection mode,and the amplitude of post injection fuel mass deviation can be reduced by 92%at most under main-post injection mode.Fuel mass of a single injection increases with the increasing of the damping hole diameter.The hydraulic filter proposed by this research can be potentially used to eliminate fuel pressure fluctuation at injector inlet and improve the stability of HPCRS fuel injection.LI Pimao ZHANG Youtong LI Tieshuan XIE Lizhe 2015Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2015,28,2:8

12Carbon assimilation characteristics of plants in oasis-desert ecotone and their response to CO_2 enrichment显示文摘Six species of more than 20-year-old desert woody plants in the oasis-desert ecotone were selected for study. The results showed that: (1) in different growing seasons δ13 C values of assimilating organ varied between -14‰ and -16‰ for Haloxylon ammodendron (HA),-14‰ - -15‰ for Calligonum mongolicum (CM) and -25‰ - -28‰ for Caragana korshinskii (CK), Nitraria sphaerocarpa (NS) and Hedysarum scoparium (HS). (2) The net photosynthetic rate (Pn) of HA and CM was significantly higher than those of the other species. With the decrease in Pn for the six species, their intercellular CO2 concentration increased, but stomatal limitation value decreased under the intensive light. At the same time, the photochemical efficiency of PS Ⅱ dropped to different degrees. (3) The CO2 enrichment experiment demonstrated that, Pn of HA and CM increased to different extent under 450 μmol/mol, but their Pn reduced or approximated to the current condition under 650 μmol/mol. Under 450 μmol/mol the efficiency for solar energy utilization of CK and HS significantly reduced and under 650 μmol/mol their respiration rate exceeded photosynthesis rate. It can be concluded that HA and CM have some function of pathway for C4, but the other three species have the function for C3. The decline in their Pn is mainly caused by non-stomatal factors. HA, CM, CK and HS exhibited photoinhibition, which disappeared in a short time. This is a kind of positive readjustment to adapting to the desert environment. HA and CM can adapt to the high CO2 environment, but CKand HS cannot. 15Comparison of Meiofaunal Abundance in Two Mangrove Wetlands in Tong'an Bay, Xiamen, China显示文摘To compare meiofaunal community in the two mangrove wetlands in Tong'an Bay, Xiamen, China, and probe the response of meiofauna to high organic matter, sampling was carried out in Fenglin and Xiang'an mangrove wetlands in the bay. The results showed that the Ne/Co ratio(nematode to benthic copepod) and organic matter in Fenglin mangrove wetland were higher than those in Xiang'an mangrove wetland. The meiofaunal abundance in Fenglin mangrove was all lower than that in Xiang'an mangrove wetland in summer, autumn and spring, while the meiofaunal abundance in Fenglin mangrove was higher than that in Xiang'an mangrove wetland in winter. Two-way ANOVA results showed that the meiofaunal abundance and nematode abundance were significantly different between regions, seasons and region×season. With all the results in the present study, we confirmed that the positive response of meiofaunal and nematode abundance were only detected for medium organic matter contents according to the Xiang'an wetland's level, and that the distribution of meiofaunal abundance would be influenced by sand content. 16Multi-hazard susceptibility mapping based on Convolutional Neural Networks显示文摘Multi-hazard susceptibility prediction is an important component of disasters risk management plan.An effective multi-hazard risk mitigation strategy includes assessing individual hazards as well as their interactions.However,with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology,multi-hazard susceptibility prediction techniques based on machine learning has encountered a huge bottleneck.In order to effectively solve this problem,this study proposes a multi-hazard susceptibility mapping framework using the classical deep learning algorithm of Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN).First,we use historical flash flood,debris flow and landslide locations based on Google Earth images,extensive field surveys,topography,hydrology,and environmental data sets to train and validate the proposed CNN method.Next,the proposed CNN method is assessed in comparison to conventional logistic regression and k-nearest neighbor methods using several objective criteria,i.e.,coefficient of determination,overall accuracy,mean absolute error and the root mean square error.Experimental results show that the CNN method outperforms the conventional machine learning algorithms in predicting probability of flash floods,debris flows and landslides.Finally,the susceptibility maps of the three hazards based on CNN are combined to create a multi-hazard susceptibility map.It can be observed from the map that 62.43%of the study area are prone to hazards,while 37.57%of the study area are harmless.In hazard-prone areas,16.14%,4.94%and 30.66%of the study area are susceptible to flash floods,debris flows and landslides,respectively.In terms of concurrent hazards,0.28%,7.11%and 3.13%of the study area are susceptible to the joint occurrence of flash floods and debris flow,debris flow and landslides,and flash floods and landslides,respectively,whereas,0.18%of the study area is subject to all the three hazards.The results of this study can benefit engineers,disaster managers and local government officials involved in sustainable land management and disaster risk mitigation.Kashif Ullah Yi Wang Zhice Fang Lizhe Wang Mahfuzur Rahman 2022Geoscience Frontiers2022,13,5:4
17A new method to standardize CBCT for quantitative evaluation of alveolar ridge preservation in the mandible:a case report and review of the literature显示文摘Cone-beam computerized tomography(CBCT)is an effective technique for assessment of changes to the alveolar ridge(AR).However,its accuracy and reliability could be improved by standardization of imaging positions to remain unchanged during measurements.In this study,an alveolar ridge preservation procedure was performed on a left third molar(38)socket by filling it with a radiotransparent synthetic bone graft,mineralized collagen(MC).Photographic,X-ray and CBCT images were captured before and 3,6 and 12 months after surgery.A new method was developed to standardize CBCT for quantitative evaluation.Obtained CBCT images showed good comparability.The post-extraction alveolar width and height were both over 95%of the original values,but some resorption of the lingual bone wall(>50%)and inter-crestal bone(>30%).It is concluded that an effective positional standardization method was developed for CBCT assessment of AR dimensional changes in the posterior mandible.The use of MC in combination with a collagen membrane improved dimensional preservation of the AR.Yang Xia Lizhe Xie Yi Zhou Tianxi Song Feimin Zhang Ning Gu 2015Regenerative Biomaterials2015,2,4:3

19Current status of bacteriological parameters and DOC/POC in Xiamen coastal waters显示文摘The surface and bottom waters samples were collected from six locations in Xiamen west-em sea. The quantified estimation of bacterial production (3H-thymidine method) and observation ofbacterial heterotrophic activity (14C-glucose method) have been made in order to have a better under-standing of the role of marine bacteria and their activities. The results showed that the mean value ofbacterial heterotrophic activity was 9 × 108 cells/(L. h) in the surface waters and 2.6 × 108 cells/( L. h)in the bottom waters. The mean value of bacterial production was 38 × 108 cells/( L. h) in the surfacewaters and 7.1 × 108 cells/(L.h) in the bottom waters. The relationship between bacterial production,heterotrophic activity, POC and DOC measured during this survey were discussed. 20Ethylene Production and 1-Aminocyclopropane-l-Carboxylate (ACC) Synthase Gene Expression in Tomato ( L ycopsicon esculentum Mill.)
