New eolian red clay sequence on the western Chinese Loess Plateau linked to onset of Asian desertification about 25 Ma ago显示文摘The expansion of inland Asia deserts has considerably influenced the environmental, social and economic activities in Asia. Aridification of inland Asia, especially timing of the initiation of Asian desertification, is a contentious topic in paleoclimatology. Late Cenozoic eolian loess-red clay sequences on the Chinese Loess Plateau, which possess abundant paleoclimatic and paleo-environmental information, can be regarded as an indicator of inland Asia desertification. Here we present a detailed magnetostratigraphic investigation of a new red clay sequence about 654 m in Zhuanglang located at the western Chinese Loess Plateau. Sedimentological, geochemical, mineralogical, and quartz morphological lines of evidence show that the red clay is of eolian origin. Magnetostratigraphic correlations indicate that this core sequence spans from 25.6 to 4.8 Ma, and typical eolian red clay appears as early as 25 Ma. This extends the lower limit of the red clay on the Chinese Loess Plateau from the previously thought early Miocene back into the late Oligocene. This new red clay record further implies that the inland Asia desertification was initiated at least by the late Oligocene. This sequence provides a unique high-resolution geological record for understanding the inland Asia desertification process since the late Oligocene. | QIANG XiaoKe AN ZhiSheng SONG YouGui CHANG Hong SUN YouBin LIU WeiGuo AO Hong DONG JiBao FU ChaoFeng WU Feng LU FengYan CAI YanJun ZHOU WeiJian CAO JunJi XU XinWen AI Li | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,1: | 73
High-yield preparation of robust gold nanoshells on silica nanorattles with good biocompatiblity显示文摘Although gold nanoshells are widely considered as one of the promising photothermal nanomaterials used for biomedicine, the high cost, low yield and poor stability severely limit their potential application in clinical trials.Herein, robust gold nanoshells on silica nanorattles(GSNs)were easily prepared in a high yield by an improved seedmediated method employing polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP) as a stabilizing and capping agent. The present method is very simple, effective and reproducible and can well control the growth process of gold nanoshells. The as-prepared GSNs have a narrow size distribution(<10 % in standard deviation). Furthermore, the utilization rate of Au in the solution used for the growth of gold nanoshells increases by 70 %than that in previous method. The resultant GSNs have a good structural stability after placing over 6 months due to the protection of PVP. More importantly, in vivo and in vitro toxic studies indicate that the GSNs have good biocompatibility. We believe that our preparation method will remarkably promote the use of gold nanoshells for biomedicine. | Changhui Fu Chaofeng He Longfei Tan Shunhao Wang Lu Shang Linlin Li Xianwei Meng Huiyu Liu | 2016 | Science Bulletin2016,61,4: | 5
Functional characterization of the NF-kB binding site in the human NOD2 promoter显示文摘Nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain 2(NOD2),a member of the NOD protein family, plays an important role in innate immunity. In response to pathogen attack,NOD2 stimulates cytokine and defensin production by activating nuclear factor(NF)-kB,a key transcription factor responsible for mediating downstream reactions. However, the mechanism linking NOD2 regulation and NF-kB activation is poorly understood.Using bioinformatics,we found a completely preserved canonical NF-kB binding site in the NOD2 core promoter(216 to 225 bp)in both humans and chimpanzees. The functional role of this NF-kB binding site was investigated using the enhanced green fluorescent protein(EGFP)reporter system,site-directed mutagenesis, the NF-kB activation inhibitor(JSH-23)and the chromatin immunoprecipitation(ChIP)assay. The results show that the NF-kB binding site is critical for regulation of the NOD2 gene.Either deletion of the NF-kB binding elements within the NOD2 promoter or treatment with an NF-kB activation inhibitor could lead to a significant loss of NOD2 promoter activity as detected by reporter gene assay. The canonical NF-kB binding site was bound by NF-kB as determined by the ChIP method.Based on these results,we suggest a positive feedback regulation between NF-kB and NOD2,which may represent an efficient mechanism in response to pathogen invasion. | Chaofeng Hu Liping Sun Yiling Hu Daxiang Lu Huadong Wang Suisheng Tang | 2010 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2010,7,4: | 3
Novel biallelic PCNT deletion causing microcephalic osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type II with congenital heart defect显示文摘Dear Editor, Microcephalic osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type Ⅱ (MOPD Ⅱ )is characterized by developmental retardation, wherein the affected individuals usually present with intrauterine growth retardation and preterm birth (Majewski et al.,1982;Willems et al.,2010).This leads to an average weight of <1,500g at birth and extremely restricted postnatal growth (Hall et al.,2004;Rauch,2011).Clinical manifestations ofMOPD Ⅱ include microcephaly, disproportionately short stature, mild skeletal dysplasia, unusual facial features including a prominent nose, prominent eyes in infancy and early childhood, some affected individuals exhibit slightly reduced intellectual development and cerebral vascular malformations (Willems et al.,2010;Li et al.,2015;Sam et al.,2015). | Lanlan Meng Chaofeng Tu Guangxiu Lu Ge Lin Yueqiu Tan | 2019 | Science China(Life Sciences)2019,62,1: | 2
Electromechanical modeling of eye fatigue detecting using flexible piezoelectric sensors显示文摘Eye fatigue has attracted significant interest due to its potential harm to human daily activities. An ultrathin flexible piezoelectric sensor was currently designed and fabricated to detect eye fatigue by deforming together with the eyelid epidermis. Herein we develop a theoretical model to illustrate the correlation between the eyelid motion and the signals output by the piezoelectric sensor. The theoretical predictions on the eyelid motion based on the measured electrical output agree well with the in vivo observations in experiment. A simple scaling law is established to evaluate the impacts of different parameters on the function ability of the flexible piezoelectric sensor. The results may provide useful guidelines for designing and optimizing similar devices for alike biological motions. | Chaofeng LU Shuang WU Yangyang ZHANG Yangkun DU | 2018 | Science China(Information Sciences)2018,61,6: | 1
Modeling on monitoring the growth and rupture assessment of saccular aneurysms显示文摘The unpredictable rupture of saccular aneurysms especially of the intracerebral aneurysm is a knotty problem that always results in high mortality.Traditional diagnosis of medical images, which gives the aneurysm size and compares with a speculated critical size from clinical statistics, was demonstrated inadequate to forecasting rupture. Here,we propose a new detecting strategy that uses a dielectric elastomer(DE)capacitance sensor to monitor the growth of saccular aneurysms and deliver both the wall stress and geometric parameters.Based on the elastic growth theory together with the finite deformation analyses, the correlation between the real-time output capacitance of the DE sensor and the wall stress and/or geometry of an aneurysm is derived.Compared to clinic statistics and biomechanics simulations, the wall stress and geometric size may be used as combined indicators to assess the rupture risk of a saccular aneurysm.Numerical results show that an output relative capacitance of 30 indicates a high risk of rupture. Finally, the sensitivity and resolution of the DE sensor are proved adequately high for monitoring the growth state and evaluating the rupture risk of a saccular aneurysm. | Yangkun Du Chaofeng Lu | 2017 | Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2017,7,2: | 1
Serum carbohydrate antigen-125 is elevated in patients with chronic atrial fibrillation显示文摘Objective: To determine whether CA-125 is elevated in medically stable patients with chronic atrial fibrillation (AF) compared with patients without AF and to examine whether levels of CA-125 are associated with demographic and clinical variables in a sample of patients under study. Methods: 55 patients with chronic AF and 58 control patients in sinus rhythm were included into the study. Patients with acute heart failure (HF), chronic inflammatory or neoplastic disease were excluded from the study. Circulating levels of CA-125 were assessed; all patients underwent clinical examination, assessment and medical records including demographic data, history of comorbid conditions, current use of cardiac medications, and the results of cardiac tests including electrocardiograms. Results: The mean age of the study sample was 53.2±6.5 years and 48% were men. Patients with sinus rhythm were significantly more likely to have lower heart rates, smaller dimensions of left atrium, and to be treated with aspirin. Coumadin, coumadin and digoxin were more often prescribed in patients with chronic AF. The CA-125 levels were significantly higher in patients with chronic AF than in patients in sinus rhythm (48.5±7.65 U/ml and 28.43±5.48 U/ml, P<0.005). An inverse relation was found between CA-125 levels and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (r=-0.48, P<0.001). CA-125 was significantly related to the left atrium (LA) diameter, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), left ventricular end-systolic diameter (LVESD) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP). There was no significant correlation between CA-125 and age. Conclusion: In subjects with chronic AF, CA-125 levels are increased; CA-125 was significantly related to the LA diameter, LVEDD, LVESD and BNP. | Pan Junqiang Zhang Dianxin Zhang Zaiwei Lu Ying Zhou Xin Li Guoliang Sun Chaofeng | 2012 | Journal of Medical Colleges of PLA(China)2012,27,5: | 1

Dynein axonemal heavy chain 10 deficiency causes primary ciliary dyskinesia in humans and mice显示文摘Primary ciliary dyskinesia(PCD)is a congenital, motile ciliopathy with pleiotropic symptoms.Although nearly 50 causative genes have been identified, they only account for approximately 70%of definitive PCD cases.Dynein axonemal heavy chain 10(DNAH10)encodes a subunit of the inner arm dynein heavy chain in motile cilia and sperm flagella.Based on the common axoneme structure of motile cilia and sperm flagella,DNAH10 variants are likely to cause PCD.Using exome sequencing,we identified a novel DNAH10 homozygous variant(c.589C>T,p.R197W)in a patient with PCD from a consanguineous family. The patient manifested sinusitis, bronchiectasis, situs inversus, and asthenoteratozoospermia.Immunostaining analysis showed the absence of DNAH10 and DNALI1 in the respiratory cilia, and transmission electron microscopy revealed strikingly disordered axoneme 9+2 architecture and inner dynein arm defects in the respiratory cilia and sperm flagella.Subsequently, animal models of Dnah10-knockin mice harboring missense variants and Dnah10-knockout mice recapitulated the phenotypes of PCD,including chronic respiratory infection, male infertility, and hydrocephalus. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to report DNAH10 deficiency related to PCD in human and mouse models, which suggests that DNAH10 recessive mutation is causative of PCD. | Rongchun Wang Danhui Yang Chaofeng Tu Cheng Lei Shuizi Ding Ting Guo Lin Wang Ying Liu Chenyang Lu Binyi Yang Shi Ouyang Ke Gong Zhiping Tan Yun Deng Yueqiu Tan Jie Qing Hong Luo | 2023 | Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,5: | 0

Similarity Measurement of Web Sessions Based on Sequence Alignment显示文摘The task of clustering Web sessions is to group Web sessions based on similarity and consists of maximizing the in-tra-group similarity while minimizing the inter-group similarity. The first and foremost question needed to be considered in clus-tering Web sessions is how to measure the similarity between Web sessions. However, there are many shortcomings in traditional measurements. This paper introduces a new method for measuring similarities between Web pages that takes into account not only the URL but also the viewing time of the visited Web page. Then we give a new method to measure the similarity of Web sessions using sequence alignment and the similarity of Web page access in detail. Experiments have proved that our method is valid and efficient. | LI Chaofeng LU Yansheng | 2007 | Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2007,12,5: | 0
