1Risk assessment on the epidemics of human infection with a novel avian influenza A (H7N9) virus in Jiangsu Province, China显示文摘A novel avian influenza A (H7N9) virus was discovered in February 2013 in China and has resulted in more than 100 comfirmed human infections including 26 fatal cases as of May 2, 2013. The situation raises many urgent questions and global public health concerns. In this study, epidemiologic characteristics of infected human cases in Jiangsu province were analyzed and risk assessment was undertaken based on the information available. Briefly, it is highly unlikely that a pandemic of human infection with avian influenza A (H7N9) virus will happen in Jiangsu Province in the near future. 2A multifunctional biomedical patch based on hyperbranched epoxy polymer and MXene显示文摘Biomedical patches play fundamental roles in various applications such as wound closure and tissue regeneration.The hybrid patches integrating versatile properties will prominently improve the therapeutic effects in clinical applications.Herein,an epoxy network loading curcumin and Ti3 C2 TxMXenes were developed as a hybrid biomedical patch.The hybrid patch was basically prepared through an epoxy/thiol curing chemistry,and its topological structure can be destructed and rearranged as a vitrimer does due to the active transesterification at high temperature.The resulted hybrid patch exhibits shape-morphing capability,multi-substrate adhesion,self-healing ability,and photothermal effects under 980 nm near infrared(NIR).Additionally,the asprepared hybrid patch possesses strong UV-shielding,excellent oxidation resistance(ROS scavenging efficiency was 89.3%in3 min),highly effective antibacterial vitality(more than 99%)against S.aureus and E.coli,and good cytocompatibility.As a proof of concept,the present multifunctional hybrid patch broadens the potential applications in the biomedical field.ZOU Yang JIN Xin ZHANG XiaoPing KONG XiaoLing ZHANG Qian XIE XianHua LIU ChangJun KE LinNan LIU WenGuang WANG Wei 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,12:2
3DIFFUSE VOLUME-DISCHARGES WITHOUT PRE-IONIZATION FORMED IN SF_6 AND C_2H_6 MIXTURES显示文摘It has been shown that a volume discharge is forming in non-uniform electric-field rough cathode and even anode without pre-ionization in SF6 and C2H6 mixtures. The discharge is presented with many diffuse channels attached to bright circular cathode spots that diverge towards the anode, with the channels overlapping, form a spatially uniform glow discharge. Self-Initiated Volume Discharge(SIVD) has been performed at a total mixture pressure up to 8 kPa and energy deposition up to 200 J/L. 4Morphology and Histochemistry of Infralabial Glands of Two Species in the Slug-Eating Family Pareidae(Reptilia:Serpentes)显示文摘Pareidae and Dipsadidae,two independently evolved taxa in the Serpentes lineage,both feed exclusively on terrestrial mollusks(snails and slugs).Dipsadid snakes developed hypertrophic infralabial glands in their lower jaw,which are thought to be associated with their specialized feeding behaviors.However,whether a similar gland exists in pareid snakes is unknown.In this study,we examined the morphological characteristics of the infralabial glands in Pareas berdmorei and Pareas chinensis based on comparative anatomical,histochemical,and histopathological analysis.Our results demonstrated that both Pareas species had similar hypertrophied infralabial glands in the lower jaw,which consisted of tubules with mucinous properties and seromucous acini.The secretory granules of the seromucous cells also showed high electron density.The cytoplasm was rich in rough endoplasmic reticulum,mitochondria,and Golgi apparatus,suggesting that these cells may secrete protein substances,and play an important role in digesting mollusks.This study provides evidence of morphological convergence between Pareidae and Dipsadidae due to specialized diet adaptation,which will be the foundation for prospective functional research.Dan WANG Jinlong REN Ke JIANG Wei WU Changjun PENG Hussam ZAHER Dechun JIANG Jiatang LI 2022Asian Herpetological Research2022,13,3:0

6Highly efficient and aberration-free off-plane grating spectrometer and monochromator for EUV—soft X-ray applications显示文摘We demonstrate a novel flat-field,dual-optic imaging EUV—soft X-ray spectrometer and monochromator that attains an unprecedented throughput efficiency exceeding 60%by design,along with a superb spectral resolution ofλ/Δλ>200 accomplished without employing variable line spacing gratings.Exploiting the benefits of the conical diffraction geometry,the optical system is globally optimized in multidimensional parameter space to guarantee optimal imaging performance over a broad spectral range while maintaining circular and elliptical polarization states at the first,second,and third diffraction orders.Moreover,our analysis indicates minimal temporal dispersion,with pulse broadening confined within 80 fs tail-to-tail and an FWHM value of 29 fs,which enables ultrafast spectroscopic and pump-probe studies with femtosecond accuracy.Furthermore,the spectrometer can be effortlessly transformed into a monochromator spanning the EUV—soft X-ray spectral region using a single grating with an aberration-free spatial profile.Such capability allows coherent diffractive imaging applications to be conducted with highly monochromatic light in a broad spectral range and extended to the soft X-ray region with minimal photon loss,thus facilitating state-of-the-art imaging of intricate nano-and bio-systems,with a significantly enhanced spatiotemporal resolution,down to the nanometer–femtosecond level.Jie Li Kui Li Xiaoshi Zhang Dimitar Popmintchev Hao Xu Yutong Wang Ruixuan Li Guangyin Zhang Jiyue Tang Jin Niu Yongjun Ma Runyu Meng Changjun Ke Jisi Qiu Yunfeng Ma Tenio Popmintchev Zhongwei Fan 2024Light(Science & Applications)2024,13,1:0
7Application of pulsed chemical vapor deposition on the SiO_(2)-coated TiO_(2) production within a rotary reactor at room temperature显示文摘Pulsed chemical vapor deposition(P-CVD)is a promising technology for the surface modification of TiO_(2) particles.For the scale-up application of P-CVD,a custom-designed rotary reactor and corresponding coating process at room temperature was developed in the present work.The obtained SiO_(2)-coated TiO_(2) particles were characterized by various measures including high-resolution transmission electron microscope,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction,etc.The results illustrated that the SiO_(2) films with a thickness of(3.7±0.7)nm were successfully deposited onto the surface of TiO_(2) particles.According to the dye degradation tests and acid solubility measurement,the deposited film can effectively inhibit the photocatalytic activity and enhance the weatherability of the TiO_(2) particles.Zeta potential measurements showed that the SiO_(2)-coated TiO_(2) is possible to be stably dispersed in the pH range of 6.9–11.6.The coating process made the whiteness of TiO_(2) particles decreased slightly but still sufficient(97.3±0.1)for application.Furthermore,the properties of the TiO_(2) particles coated by PCVD were compared with the particles coated by traditional wet chemical deposition.It is shown that the P-CVD can produce thinner but denser films with better photoactivity suppression performance.The developed coating process within the rotary reactor was proved practically feasible and convenient for the scale-up production of SiO_(2)-coated TiO_(2) via P-CVD.Ke Yang Shan Zhong Hairong Yue Siyang Tang Kui Ma Changjun Liu Kai Qiao Bin Liang 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,5:0
8Etiological characteristics of influenza-like illness in Jiangsu province from 2012 to 2016显示文摘Influenza-like illness(ILI)is an acute respiratory infection caused by various pathogens.However,the epidemiologic characteristics of ILI pathogens in Jiangsu province are unclear.To better understand the ILI etiology,the characteristics of the pathogens from nasopharyngeal swab samples of patients with ILI collected from 2012 to 2016 in 6 hospitals in Jiangsu province were studied.The pathogens,including influenza virus,respiratory syncytial virus(RSV),rhinovirus(HRV),adenovirus(ADV),herpes simplex virus(HSV),human coronavirus(hCoV),Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae,were detected by real-time PCR.At least one pathogen was identified in 1334 of the patients(40.23%).Among viruses,HRV,influenza A virus(Flu A),ADV and RSV were the most frequently detected.ADV was the only pathogen that was distributed evenly in different years and regions(P>0.05).The etiological distribution varied in different age groups.Streptococcus pneumoniae was the most common pathogen in co-infections with a co-detection rate of 64.57%(319/494).The spectrum of etiologies could help to estimate disease burden and provide guidance for vaccination.Ke Xu Xiang Huo Rongqiang Zu Shenjiao Wang Yuanfang Qin Qigang Dai Xian Qi Huiyan Yu Lilin Chen Lei Hong Yangting Xu Qianhua Yi Weixiang Wang Xuan Wang Wenjun Dai Jie Zha Weining Han Changjun Bao 2019The Journal of Biomedical Research2019,33,6:0
9Estimation of the actual disease burden of human H7N9 infection in Jiangsu of eastern China from March 2013 to September 2017显示文摘The actual incidence of human H7N9 infection is supposed to be much higher than the documented laboratoryconfirmed cases.In this study,we estimated the number of the actual H7N9 cases in Jiangsu,China using a probabilistic multiplier model.Then,disability adjusted life years(DALYs),direct and indirect economic loss caused by this disease were calculated and analyzed.Till September 2017,the estimated total number of H7N9 cases was 2952[median,90%probability range(PR):1487-22094],which was 11.8 times(5.9-88.4)as large as the reported number.The median morbidity was estimated to be 4(90%PR:2-29)per 100000 population.The total DALYs loss was 16548 years,and the total economic loss(direct and indirect)was estimated to be RMB 1044618758(US$16.7 M).The average economic loss for per case and for per year was RMB 353868(US$56440)and RMB 232137502(US$37.0 M),respectively.The actual burden of human H7N9 infections was much heavier than what was documented.Our study provided an approach to estimate actual burden of infectious diseases using laboratory-confirmation.Haodi Huang Wang Ma Ke Xu Keith Dear Huiyan Yu Xian Qi Changjun Bao Minghao Zhou Xiang Huo 2019The Journal of Biomedical Research2019,33,5:0
