1Temperature and velocity dependent friction of a microscale graphite-DLC heterostructure显示文摘One of the promising approaches to achieving large scale superlubricity is the use of junctions between existing ultra-flat surface together with superlubric graphite mesas.Here we studied the frictional properties of microscale graphite mesa sliding on the diamond-like carbon,a commercially available material with a ultra-flat surface.The interface is composed of a single crystalline graphene and a diamond-like carbon surface with roughness less than I nm.Using an integrated approach,which includes Argon plasma irradiation of diamond-like carbon surfaces,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis and Langmuir adsorption modeling,we found that while the velocity dependence of friction follows a thermally activated sliding mechanism,its temperature dependence is due to the desorption of chemical groups upon heating.These observations indicate that the edges have a significant contribution to the friction.Our results highlight potential factors affecting this type of emerging friction junctions and provide a novel approach for tuning their friction properties through ion irradiation.Yujie GONGYANG Wengen OUYANG Cangyu QU Michael URBAKH Baogang QUAN Ming MA Quanshui ZHENG 2020Friction2020,8,2:5
2Recent understanding of solid-liquid friction in ionic liquids显示文摘Ionic liquids(ILs)-solid interfacial phenomenon is undoubtedly one of the topic issues in energy related fields,especially bringing great challenges in the development of chemical engineering.Solid-ILs friction under microscale shows outstanding properties such as widely studied electro-controllability by surface potential or electric field,and promising performance of superlubricity.Vast applications,such as boundary lubrication and supercapacitors,have been benefiting from these studies.In this review,we summarized the recent advances of the measurements of solid-ILs friction,and focused on the microscale and fascinating findings.A brief tutorial for this topic,containing both experimental and theoretical methods,was also provided.It was anticipated that this review would help researchers grasp the emerging field and stimulate the advance of new ideas and methods in ILs on solids.Yuqing He Han Li Cangyu Qu Wei Cao Ming Ma 2021Green Chemical Engineering2021,2,2:2
3China’s new problems of food security revealed by the Food Equivalent Unit显示文摘China's food security has a great influence on the world,and has always been the top priority in China.In recent years,as the concept of food security is evolving into one of nutrition security and the importance of food diversity is increasing,research based on nutrition security and broad food systems are increasingly needed in today’s China.Thus,not only grain for human consumption,but also animal foods have been integrated into the Food Equivalent,which is used to analyze China’s current agriculture system and reveal the water resource distribution.The results indicated that the average animal food consumption has risen by 78.6%,and now China’s daily supply of animal food per capita has reached about 50%of that in the USA and 80%of that in the South Korea.So there exist an obvious disparity in animal food supply between China and these two countries.It is impossible for the China’s current agricultural system to achieve the level in the USA.Under China’s current agricultural system,the consumption proportion of feed grain had surpassed the consumption of food grain,increased sharply from 33%in 1992 to 67%in 2011.However,the growth potential of total grain output is approaching an upper limit,so the continued growth of feed grain demand exerts great pressure on the China’s food supply.The discordance of the spatial distribution of water resource and virtual water revealed that China’s current agriculture system had a low efficiency in being able to achieve food and nutrition security.China’s current“grain farming”cannot meet the demand of increasing nutrition and appropriate resource utilization.The implementation of grassland agriculture appears feasible and necessary for saving feed grain,providing a large number of high-quality animal foods and appropriate water resource utilization.Huilong LIN Ruichao LI Cangyu JIN Chong WANG Maohong WEI Jizhou REN 2014Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2014,1,1:2

5Elasticity-based-exfoliability measure for high-throughput computational exfoliation of two-dimensional materials显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)materials are promising candidates for uses in next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices.However,only a few high-quality 2D materials have been mechanically exfoliated to date.One of the critical issues is that the exfoliability of 2D materials from their bulk precursors is unknown.To assess the exfoliability of potential 2D materials from their bulk counterparts,we derived an elasticity-based-exfoliability measure based on an exfoliation mechanics model.The proposed measure has a clear physical meaning and is universally applicable to all material systems.We used this measure to calculate the exfoliability of 10,812 crystals having a first-principles calculated elastic tensor.By setting the threshold values for easy and potential exfoliation based on already-exfoliated materials,we predicted 58 easily exfoliable bulk crystals and 90 potentially exfoliable bulk crystals for 2D materials.As evidence,a topology-based algorithm indicates that there is no interlayer bondingtopology for 93%predicted exfoliable bulk crystals,and the analysis on packing ratios shows that 99%predicted exfoliable bulk crystals exhibit a relatively low packing ratio value.Moreover,literature survey shows that 34 predicted exfoliable bulk crystals have been experimentally exfoliated into 2D materials.In addition,the characteristics of these predicted 2D materials were discussed for practical use of such materials.Xiangzheng Jia Qian Shao Yongchun Xu Ruishan Li Kai Huang Yongzhe Guo Cangyu Qu Enlai Gao 2021npj Computational Materials2021,,1:0
6Astigmatism following Small Incision Cataract Extraction through Superotemporal Incision显示文摘Purpose:.To investigate the occurrence of corneal incision-induced astigmatism following small incision extracapsular cataract extraction through a superotemporal incision combined with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Methods:.A total of 255 cases (301 eyes) who received small incision extracapsular cataract extraction through a superotemporal incision with IOL implantation in the Department of Ophthalmology, Yuyan District Hospital of Guiyang were enrolled in this clinical trial..Postoperative best-corrected visual acuity and astigmatism were measured. The patients underwent 24-week follow-up. Results: In total, 166 patients (65.1%, 166 eyes) completed follow-up..Astigmatism gradually declined between 1 and 12-week postoperatively, and stabilized after 12 weeks. Among 166 patients,.125(75.3%).had astigmatism > 0.5 D at 24 weeks post-operatively,.showing mostly with-the-rule astigmatism. Visual acuity steadily improved up to 12 weeks, and tended to stabilize subsequently..Over the period of 24-week postoperatively,.visual acuity was negatively correlated with astigmatism (r=-0.691,P<0.05). 7Controlled Movements in Superlubric MEMS显示文摘Structural superlubricity(SSL)refers to a state where the friction and wear between two directly contacted solid surfaces are virtually zero.The realization of microscale SSL in 2012 rapidly explored SSL technologies which hold great potential in the development of reliable and energy⁃efficient micro devices.A key to a successful superlubric device is to control the movements of the superlubric slider.To solve this challenge,here two general principles are shown to guide and control the motion of the slider,i.e.,by minimization of interfacial energy and minimization of electrostatic energy.When the shapes of the slider and substrate are designed appropriately,the excess interfacial energy of the contact⁃pair provides restoring and constraining forces to the slider.Similarly,tunable driving and constraining forces are enabled by the electric fields induced by the electrodes buried in the substrate.These concepts are demonstrated on the design of a superlubric resonator whose natural frequency of the lateral translational mode is well⁃defined and unfavorable rotation is constrained.The above design principles should be applicable to superlubric devices in general and help the development of future applications of structural superlubricity.Cangyu Qu Xiaojian Xiang Ming Ma Quanshui Zheng 2020Journal of Harbin Institute of Technology(New Series)2020,27,3:0
