3Targeting fatty acid synthase sensitizes human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells to radiationvia downregulating frizzled class receptor 10显示文摘Objective:Our aim was to test the hypothesis that fatty acid synthase(FASN)expression contributes to radioresistance of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)cells and that inhibiting FASN enhances radiosensitivity.Methods:Targeting FASN using epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG)or RNA interference in NPC cell lines that overexpress endogenous FASN was performed to determine their effects on cellular response to radiationin vitro using MTT and colony formation assays,andin vivo using xenograft animal models.Western blot,immunohistochemistry,real-time PCR arrays,and real-time RT-PCR were used to determine the relationship between FASN and frizzled class receptor 10(FZD10)expression.FZD10 knockdown and overexpression were used to determine its role in mediating FASN function in cellular response to radiation.Immunohistochemical staining was used to determine FASN and FZD10 expressions in human NPC tissues,followed by analysis of their association with the overall survival of patients.Results:FASN knockdown or inhibition significantly enhanced radiosensitivity of NPC cells,bothin vitro andin vivo.There was a positive association between FASN and FZD10 expression in NPC cell lines grown as monolayers or xenografts,as well as human tissues.FASN knockdown reduced FZD10 expression,and rescue of FZD10 expression abolished FASN knockdown-induced enhancement of radiosensitivity.FASN and FZD10 were both negatively associated with overall survival of NPC patients.Conclusions:FASN contributes to radioresistance,possiblyvia FZD10 in NPC cells.Both FZD10 and FASN expressions were associated with poor outcomes of NPC patients.EGCG may sensitize radioresistance by inhibiting FASN and may possibly be developed as a radiosensitizer for better treatment of NPCs.Jiongyu Chen Fan Zhang Xiaosha Ren Yahui Wang Wenhe Huang Jianting Zhang Yukun Cui 2020Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,3:3

5Effect of Plasticizer Poly(Ethylene Glycol)on the Crystallization Properties of Stereocomplex-Type Poly(Lactide Acid)显示文摘The effects of the plasticizer poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) on crystallization properties of equimolar poly(L-lactide)(PLLA)/poly(D-lactide)(PDLA) blends were investigated. Formation of the stereocomplex-type poly(lactide acid)(sc-PLA) crystallites was confirmed by Wide-angle X-ray diffraction(WAXD) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) analyses. Sc-PLA crystallites without any homochiral poly(lactide acid)(hc-PLA) formed, as the result of the incorporation of the plasticizer PEG(more than or equal to 10%(wt)) at a processing temperature(240 ℃). Moreover, when the MW of PEG reached 1 000 g × mol–1, the crystallizability of stereocomplex crystallites was the best. Isothermal crystallization kinetics further revealed that PEG could accelerate the crystallization rate of sc-PLA, with the optimum crystallization kinetic parameters being obtained at 10%(wt) PEG. Several crystallization kinetics equations were applied to describe the effect of PEG on the crystallization behavior of sc-PLA. 8Polymer-bubbling for one-step synthesis of three-dimensional cobalt/carbon foams against electromagnetic pollution显示文摘Constructing three-dimensional(3D)foam-like structure in magnetic metal/carbon composites is regarded as a promising pathway to reinforce their electromagnetic(EM)functions.Herein,a nitrateassisted polymer-bubbling strategy is reported for the synthesis of Co/carbon foams,which is simply accomplished by direct pyrolyzing the mixture of polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)and cobalt nitrate hexahydrate(Co(NO_(3))_(2)·6 H_(2) O).Co(NO_(3))_(2)·6H_(2)O not only plays as the source of Co nanoparticles,but also accounts for the formation of 3D microstructure through releasing gas.By manipulating the weight ratio of Co(NO_(3))_(2)·6H_(2)O to PVP,the chemical composition,microstructure,and EM properties of these composites can be easily regulated.When the weight ratio reaches 1.5,the resultant composite displays good microwave absorption performance,whose reflection loss intensity and effective absorption bandwidth are superior to those of many common Co/C composites.EM analysis reveals that such architecture is greatly helpful to establish cross-linked conductive networks in the wax matrix,resulting in powerful dielectric loss under low absorber loading.Meanwhile,3D microstructure is also beneficial for multiple reflections that equal to extend the transmission path of incident EM waves.Simple synthesis strategy and desirable properties of these magnetic carbon foams may render them as the low-cost substitute of 3D graphene for the application against EM pollution.Fengyuan Wang Ping Xu Ning Shi Liru Cui Yahui Wang Dawei Liu Honghong Zhao Xijiang Han Yunchen Du 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,34:1
9Anti-corrosion and electrically conductive inorganic conversion coatings based on aligned graphene derivatives by electrodeposition显示文摘Ultrathin conversion coatings, made from aligned graphene derivatives and ammonium zirconium carbonate(AZC), were fabricated on stainless steel by electrodeposition. Sulfonated graphene oxide (SGO) provided electronpathways and physical barriers to corrosive molecules. Electrodeposition ensured the alignment of SGO and thefacile fabrication of the coatings. AZC is an environmental-friendly crosslinking agent, water-repellent andcorrosion inhibitor. Upon dehydration reactions, AZC improved the cohesion between SGO layers and anchoredthe conversion coatings on metal substrates. When the mass ratio of SGO to AZC was 2:1, the corrosion currentdensity of the composite coatings reached 0.098 μA cm^(-2), while that of the bared stainless steel was1.04 μA cm ^(-2), given a coating thickness of only 500 nm. 10Stochastic speed prediction for connected vehicles using improved bayesian networks with back propagation显示文摘Advanced vehicular control technologies rely on accurate speed prediction to make ecological and safe decisions. This paper proposes a novel stochastic speed prediction method for connected vehicles by incorporating a Bayesian network(BN) and a Back Propagation(BP) neural network. A BN model is first designed for predicting the stochastic vehicular speed in a priori. To improve the accuracy of the BN-based speed prediction, a BP-based predicted speed error compensation module is constructed by formulating a mapping between the predicted speed and its corresponding prediction error. In the end, a filtering algorithm is developed to smoothen the compensated stochastic vehicular speed. To validate the workings of the proposed approaches in experiments, two typical scenarios are considered: one predecessor vehicle in a double-vehicle scenario and two predecessor vehicles in a multi-vehicle scenario. Simulation results under the considered scenarios demonstrate that the proposed BN-BP fusion method outperforms the BN-based method with respect to the root mean square error, standardized residuals, and R-squared, and the online prediction time of proposed fusion prediction can satisfy a real-time application requirement. 11Highly efficient solution-processed organic photovoltaics enabled by improving packing behavior of organic semiconductors显示文摘Solution processability is a unique property of organic semiconductors. The compact and regular π-π stacking between molecules is paramount in the performance of organic optoelectronic devices. However, it is still a challenge to improve their stacking quality without sacrificing the solution-processability from the aspect of materials design. Here, delicately engineered additives are presented to promote the formation of ordered aggregation of conjugated molecules by regulating their nucleation and growth dynamics. Intriguingly, the long-chain BTP-eC9-4F molecules can realize ordered aggregation comparable to short-chain ones without sacrificing processability. The domain size of BTP-eC9-4F aggregation is enlarged from 24.2 to 32.2 nm in blend films.Thereby exciton diffusion and charge transport become faster, contributing to the suppression of recombination losses. As a result, a power conversion efficiency of 19.2% is achieved in D18:BTP-eC9-4F based organic photovoltaics. 12A post-GWAS replication study confirming the association of C14H8orf33 gene with milk production traits in dairy cattle显示文摘Genome-wide association studies with an Illumina Bovine50K chip have detected 105 SNPs associated with one or multiple milk production traits in the Chinese Holstein population.Of these,38 significant SNPs detected with high confidence by both L1-TDT and MMRA methods were selected to further mine potential key genes affecting milk yield and milk composition.By blasting the flanking sequences of these 38 SNPs with the bovine genome sequence combined with comparative genomics analysis,26 genes were found to contain or be near to such SNPs.Among them,the C14H8orf33 gene is merely 87 bp away from the significant SNP,Hapmap30383-BTC-005848.Hence,we report herein genotype-phenotype associations to further validate the genetic effects of the C14H8orf33 gene.By pooled DNA sequencing of 14 unrelated Holstein sires,a total of 18 with seven novel SNPs were identified.Among them,nine SNPs were in the 5′regulatory region,one in exon 6 and the other in the 3′UTR and 3′regulatory region.A total of nine of these identified SNPs were successfully genotyped and analyzed by mass spectrometry for association with five milk production traits in an independent resource population.The results showed that these SNPs were statistically significant for more than two traits[P<(0.0001–0.0267)].In addition,mRNA expression analyses revealed that C14H8orf33 was ubiquitous in eight different tissues,with a relatively higher expression level in the mammary gland than in other tissues.These findings,therefore,provide strong evidence for association of C14H8orf33 variants with milk yield and milk composition traits and may be applied in Chinese Holstein breeding programs.Shaohua YANG Chao QI Yan XIE Xiaogang CUI Yahui GAO Jianping JIANG Li JIANG Shengli ZHANG Qin ZHANG Dongxiao SUN 2014Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2014,1,4:0
13Flexible,durable,and anti-fouling nanocellulose-based membrane functionalized by block copolymer with ultra-high flux and efficiency for oil-in-water emulsions separation显示文摘The clearwater obtained from stabilized oily wastewater has become a worldwide challenge.Nowdays,the area of oil/water emulsion separation materials have accomplished great progress,but still faces the enormous problems of low flux,poor stability,and pollution resistance.Nanocelluloses(cellulose nanocrystals(CNC))with the advantages of hydrophilicity,ecofriendliness,and regeneration are ideal materials for the construction of separation membranes.In this paper,a flexible,antifouling,and durable nanocellulose-based membrane functionalized by block copolymer(poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-b-poly(N,Ndimethylaminoethyl methacrylate))is prepared via chemical modification and self-assembly,showing high separation efficiency(above 99.6%)for stabilized oil-in-water emulsions,excellent anti-fouling and cycling stability,high-temperature resistance,and acid and alkali resistance.More importantly,the composite membrane has ultra-high flux in separating oil-in-water emulsions(29,003 L·m^(−2)·h^(−1)·bar^(−1))and oil/water mixture(51,444 L·m^(−2)·h^(−1)·bar^(−1)),which ensures high separation efficiency.With its durability,easy scale-up,and green regeneration,we envision this biomass-derived membrane will be an alternative to the existing commercial filter membrane in environmental remediation.Jianfei Wu Yuxuan Su Ziwei Cui Yang Yu Jiafu Qu Jundie Hu Yahui Cai Jianzhang Li Dan Tian Qichun Zhang 2023Nano Research2023,16,4:0
14GSZ Formula Enhances Sleep Quality:Exploring Its Active Ingredients and Mechanism Using a Network Medicine Approach显示文摘Background:Sleep is essential for maintaining human health,and insomnia is a widespread problem.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has been used for centuries to treat sleep disorders,with fewer reported side effects compared to conventional treatments.Objective:This study seeks to investigate the sleep-promoting effects of the GSZ formula,which comprisesγ-aminobutyric acid(GABA),Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus(Wuweizi in Chinese),and Ziziphi Spinosae Semen(Suanzaoren in Chinese).In addition,this study aims to explore the active ingredients and potential mechanisms underlying the sleep-enhancing effects of the formula.Methods:The impact of GSZ on sleep was evaluated using two models,the complete sleep model and the sub-threshold sleep model.Mice were randomly divided into five groups and orally administered GSZ solution(0.33 g/kg/day or 0.99 g/kg/day),positive drug diazepam(2.50 mg/kg)or a control solution for 30 days.Hypno-sis model was established in mice using pentobarbital sodium.Sleep duration and incidence were measured by recording when the righting reflex of mice disappeared for more than 1 min.GABA and dopamine(DA)levels in mouse brain tissue were measured using ELISA kits.The ingredients of the GSZ formula were identified using mass spectrometry,and the targets of these ingredients and disease-related genes were retrieved from public databases.A network medicine approach was used to calculate the shortest path between ingredient targets and disease-related proteins.The expression levels of potential proteins,such as Akt,p-Akt,GSK-3β,and p-GSK-3β,were analyzed using Western blotting based on the predicted results.Results:GSZ significantly prolonged sleep duration and enhanced the sleep rate in mice(P<0.05).Furthermore,it elevated GABA levels and reduced DA levels in the mouse brain(P<0.05).Network medicine analysis suggested that GABA,stearic acid,genistin,and coumestrol may be the most crucial active ingredients for sleep improve-ment.Western blotting analysis demonstrated that GSZ modulated the protein expression levels of p-Akt/Akt and p-GSK-3β/GSK-3β(P<0.05).Conclusion:Our study demonstrated that the GSZ formula could improve sleep,with key ingredients likely being GABA,stearic acid,genistin,and coumestrol.The mechanism might involve the regulation of the Akt/GSK-3βpathway,as revealed by the network medicine analysis and experimental validation.Our current new findings shed light on the potential mechanisms underlying the sleep-enhancing effects of the GSZ formula,which could provide experimental evidence to develop innovative treatments for insomnia.Airong Ren Mingxuan Ma Yongyin Liang Yarong Wang Zhengkun Li Yahui Liu Qing Fan Guozhen Cui 2024Clinical Complementary Medicine and Pharmacology2024,4,1:0

18Dissolution and recrystallization of perovskite induced by N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone in a closed steam annealing method显示文摘High quality perovskite films with large columnar grains are greatly desired for efficient perovskite solar cells. Here, low volatility N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP) was added in MAI/IPA solution in a two-step spin-coating method, which promoted the conversion of lead iodide to perovskite. The perovskite films were annealed by a closed-steam annealing method to prolong the recrystallization process of perovskite films assisted by the residual NMP. It leaded to high quality CH_3NH_3PbI_3 perovskite films with large columnar grains due to its enhancement of the Oswald ripening. The large grain perovskite film leaded to efficient carrier transformation and injection, and low recombination. 19Characterization and functional analysis of pollen-specific PwSWEET1 in Picea wilsonii显示文摘SWEET transporters play a pivotal role in sugar transport in plants.However,their functions in pollen tube growth,especially in coniferous species remain unknown.Here,we used RT-qPCR to reveal that a SWEET1 gene was specifically expressed in pollen and pollen tubes of Picea wilsonii.A pollen germination assay showed that PwSWEET1 was induced by H3BO3 but not by Ca^2+.In a sugar specificity experiment,sucrose(Suc)and glucose(Glc)were effective sugars for pollen germination and pollen tube growth.PwSWEET1 expression was induced most by Suc and Glc.Heterologous expression of PwSWEET1 in yeast showed that PwSWEET1 can restore the glucose absorption in yeast strain EBY.VW4000,which has a hexose absorption defect,and the absorption of glucose is pH-independent.This evidence supports the involvment of PwSWEET1 in boron-dependent glucose transport in pollen germination and pollen tube growth of Picea wilsonii.Yanni Zhou Xiaoyue Cui Anni Hu Yahui Miao Lingyun Zhang 2020Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,5:0
