Transmission identification of Escherichia coli aerosol in chicken houses to their environments using ERIC-PCR显示文摘In order to study E. coli aerosol spreading from chicken houses to their surrounding air, air samples, including indoor and outdoor air (upwind 10 and 50 m as well as downwind 10, 50, 100, 200 and 400 m away) of 5 chicken houses were collected using six-stage Andersen microbial samplers and Reuter-Centrifugal samplers (RCS). E. coli concentrations (CFU/m3 air) collected from different sampling sites were calculated. E. coli strains from chicken feces samples were also isolated. Furthermore, the enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC)-PCR method was applied to amplify the isolated E. coli strain DNA samples. Through the genetic similarity analyses of the E. coli obtained from different sampling sites, the spreading of bioaerosol from animal houses to the ambient air was characterized. The results showed that the isolated E. coli concentrations in indoor air (9―63 CFU/m3) in 5 chicken houses were higher than those in upwind and downwind air, but there were no significant differences between the indoor and downwind sites 10 m away from all the 5 houses (P>0.05). The phylogenetic tree indicated that a part of the E. coli (34.1%) isolated from indoor air had 100% similarity with those isolated from feces, and that most of E. coli isolated (54.5%) from downwind at 10, 50, 100 or even 200 m had 100% similarity with those isolated from indoor air or feces too. But those isolated from upwind air had a lower similarity (73%―92%) with corresponding strains isolated from indoor air or feces. Our results suggested that some strains isolated from downwind air and indoor air originated in the chicken feces, but most of isolates obtained from upwind air samples did not come from the chicken feces or indoor air. Effective hygienic measures should be taken in animal farms to prevent or minimize downwind spreading of microorganism aerosol. | DUAN HuiYong CHAI TongJie CAI YuMei ZHONG ZhaoBing YAO MeiLing ZHANG XingXiao | 2008 | Science China(Life Sciences)2008,51,2: | 5
Vacuum carburization of 12Cr2Ni4A low carbon alloy steel with lanthanum and cerium ion implantation显示文摘As bearing parts, 12 Cr2 Ni4 A is expected to have high hardness and excellent fatigue strength, so carburizing is employed to improve the inherit properties of 12 Cr2 Ni4 A. However, the traditional carburizing is limited by poor microstructure distribution and low rate of carburizing. The rare earth ion implantation is known to help improving the properties of tribology, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of metal. In this article, the RE implantation is employed to assist the carburizing. Lanthanum and cerium ion implantations are initially used to assist 12 Cr2 Ni4 A low pressure vacuum carburization. The microstructure, content of retained austenite, hardness, thickness of layer and carbon diffusion were analyzed by optical microscopy(OM), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Rockwell/Vickers hardness tester, respectively. It was shown that lanthanum and cerium implantations can improve structure of the vacuum carburizing layer, and enhance the uniformity of carbon element distribution on the carburized surface. Meanwhile the RE implantation plays a positive role in promoting the surface hardness and carburized rate. The lanthanum element has more significant effect on surface hardness and content of retained austenite than cerium element. The surface hardness of lanthanum element implanted layer was 62.9 HRC with 9.6% content of retained austenite, while the carburizing rate of cerium implanted layer increased by 12.4%. | Meiling Dong Xiufang Cui Yuhui Zhang Guo Jin Caiwen Yue Xin Zhao Zhaobing Cai Binshi Xu | 2017 | Journal of Rare Earths2017,35,11: | 3
Microenvironment regulation of M-N-C single-atom catalysts towards oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘The development of cost-effective,robust,and durable electrocatalysts to replace the expensive Pt-based catalysts towards oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)is the trending frontier research topic in renewable energy and electrocatalysis.Particular attention has been paid to metal-nitrogen-carbon(M-N-C)single atom catalysts(SACs)due to their maximized atom utilization efficiency, biomimetic active site, and distinct electronic structure.More importantly, their catalytic properties can be further tailored by rationally regulating the microenvironment of active sites(i.e.,M-N coordination number, heteroatom doping and substitution.Herein,we present a comprehensive summary of the recent advancement in the microenvironment regulation of MN-C SACs towards improved ORR performance. The coordination environment manipulation regarding central metal and coordinated atoms is first discussed, focusing on the structure-function relationship.Apart from the near-range coordination, longrange substrate modulation including heteroatom doping, defect engineering is discussed as well.Besides, the synergy mechanism of nanoparticles and single atom sites to tune the electron cloud density at the active sites is summarized. Finally,we provide the challenges and outlook of the development of M-N-C SACs. | Li Zhang Qinglei Meng Ruixue Zheng Liuqing Wang Wei Xing Weiwei Cai Meiling Xiao | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,4: | 2
Microstructure and heat treatment for Ni3Al-based single crystal alloy with different crystal orientations显示文摘Ni3Al-based single crystal alloy IC6SX with different crystal orientations were prepared by seed crystal method. The microstructure and heat treatment of the alloy were investigated. The results showed that the microstructure of the alloy was in dendrite structure, and the crystal orientation had significant effect on the dendrite morphology of this alloy. The precipitated phases of(MoNi)6C and NiMo appeared in the microstructure of the three alloys with different crystal orientations during solidification process.Compared with other two alloys, the volume fractions of precipitated phases of both(MoNi)6C and NiMo was the most in the alloy with[111]orientation and the least in the alloy with[001]orientation.The solidus and liquidus temperatures of the alloy IC6SX tested by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)were 1356℃and 1387℃,respectively.Meanwhile,the effect of different solution temperatures on the microstructure of the alloy with different orientations was studied. The results showed that the precipitated phases of(MoNi)6C and NiMo were eliminated with the solid solution treatment under the condition of 1300℃/10h.However,the incipient melting of the alloys occurred due to the dissolution of low melting point phases. As the temperature dropped to 1280℃,the area of incipient melting in the alloy with different orientations decreased gradually. However, there was no incipient melting appearing in the three alloys with different orientations when the solution treatment temperature dropped to 1260℃. | Liwu Jiang Xuezheng Dou Meiling Wu Min Cai | 2020 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2020,30,4: | 2
Monthly change of community structure of zoobenthos in Xiangxi Bay after impoundment of the Three Gorges Reservoir,China显示文摘Xiangxi Bay,a typical bay of the Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR)in China, was formed in June 2003 after the impoundment of the TGR.We investigated the community structure of zoobenthos in Xiangxi Bay from August 2003 to August 2004.Benthic abundance and biomass were calculated per unit area of sediment.A total of 26 taxa were identified. They included two families of Lamellibranchia(7.7%of the total taxa number),two families of Oligochaeta(50%),Chironomidae(38.5%),and one other animal(3.8%).The average density and biomass were 276 ind./m2 and 0.301 g/m2,respectively.Oligochaetes and chironomids constituted the major groups, and Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri,Procladius sp.,Branchiura sowerbyi,Tubificidae sp1.and Polypedilum scalaenum group sp.were the common taxa in this reservoir system.Among them,L.hoffmeisteri and Procladius sp.were the dominant species, and contributed 37.0%and 28.3%of the total density, respectively. The standing crop of zoobenthos in Xiangxi Bay was relative low, compared with other similar reservoirs. Our studies demonstrate that the standing crop increased gradually with time. The total density and biomass in August 2004 were 8.8 and 14.3 times those of the initial impoundment, separately.Oligochaetes did not become the sole dominant group, indicating that the sediment loading in Xiangxi Bay may be not serious. | SHAO Meiling XIE Zhicai YE Lin CAI Qinghua | 2007 | Frontiers in Biology2007,2,2: | 1

Enhancing the HSV-1-mediated antitumor immune response by suppressing Bach1显示文摘Background In 2015,herpes simplex virus 1(HSV-1)-derived talimogene laherparepvec(T-VEC)was the first oncolytic virus approved by the US Food and Drug Administration as a therapeutic agent for cancer treatment. However, its antitumor application is limited to local treatment of melanoma, and there is a lack of understanding of the mechanisms underlying the regulation of HSV-1 replication in cancer cells and the associated antitumor immunity. We hypothesized that increasing the replication capacity of HSV-1 in tumor cells would enhance the antitumor effect of this virus. Methods We systematically identified IFN-stimulated genes induced by HSV-1 by performing functional screens and clarified the mechanism by which BACH1 acts against HSV-1.Then,we tested the effect of BACH1 deficiency on immunogenic cell death induced by HSV-1.Furthermore,we investigated the antitumor effect of BACH1 deficiency on HSV-1 in MCA205 and B16 murine tumor models. Results We identified eight IFN-stimulated genes(ISGs)controlling HSV-1 replication, among which BTB and CNC homology 1(BACH1)suppressed HSV-1 replication by inhibiting the transcription of ICP4,ICP27,and UL39.Loss of Bach1 function not only increased HSV-1 proliferation but also promoted HSV-1-induced cell apoptosis,HMGB1 secretion, and calreticulin exposure in tumor cells.More importantly, hemin,an FDA-approved drug known to downregulate BACH1,significantly enhanced HSV-1-mediated antitumor activity with increased T lymphocyte infiltration at the tumor site. Conclusions Our studies uncovered a novel antiviral activity of BACH1 and provided a new strategy for improving the clinical efficiency of the oncolytic virus HSV-1. | Chaohu Pan Qiaomei Cai Xiaorong Li Lili Li Liping Yang Yu Chen Junxiao Liu Wancheng Liu Meiling Gao Tianqi Sui Xiaoyang Wang Huiming Fan Jiayin Ruan Yueyue Shi Saihua Chen Lucy S.Cheng Jiayong Liu Heng Yang Genhong Cheng | 2022 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,4: | 0
Trustworthy Service Selection Integrating Cloud Model and Possibility Degree Ranking of Interval Numbers显示文摘It has been challenging to select suitable services from abundant candidates in cloud environment.Aiming to the characteristics of batch computing mode and stream computing mode, a novel trustworthy service selection approach is proposed integrating cloud model and interval numbers theory. To facilitate potential users to understand the quality of service, the trustworthiness of service is described with interval number using reverse cloud generator, and the services with poor performance are filtered out by employing deviation degree or proximity degree. Two formulas of possibility degree of interval numbers are designed to compare the trustworthiness values between cloud services by utilizing probability zone analysis and geometrical analysis respectively, and the ranking method for possibility degree of interval numbers is exploited to select the most trustworthy service. The experiments show that this approach is effective to improve the accuracy of service selection and select trustworthy service for potential users in cloud paradigm. | MA Hua HU Zhigang CAI Meiling | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Electronics2017,26,6: | 0

Homeoprotein SIX1 compromises antitumor immunity through TGF-β-mediated regulation of collagens显示文摘The tumor microenvironment(TME),including infiltrated immune cells,is known to play an important role in tumor growth;however, the mechanisms underlying tumor immunogenicity have not been fully elucidated. Here,we discovered an unexpected role for the transcription factor SIX1 in regulating the tumor immune microenvironment.Based on analyses of patient datasets,we found that SIX1 was upregulated in human tumor tissues and that its expression levels were negatively correlated with immune cell infiltration in the TME and the overall survival rates of cancer patients.Deletion of Six1 in cancer cells significantly reduced tumor growth in an immune-dependent manner with enhanced antitumor immunity in the TME.Mechanistically,SIX1 was required for the expression of multiple collagen genes via the TGFBR2-dependent Smad2/3 activation pathway, and collagen deposition in the TME hampered immune cell infiltration and activation. Thus, our study uncovers a crucial role for SIX1 in modulating tumor immunogenicity and provides proof-of-concept evidence for targeting SIX1 in cancer immunotherapy. | Wancheng Liu Meiling Gao Lili Li Yu Chen Huimin Fan Qiaomei Cai Yueyue Shi Chaohu Pan Junxiao Liu Lucy S.Cheng Heng Yang Genhong Cheng | 2021 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,12: | 0
Smith-Kingsmore syndrome with nystagmus as the initial symptom显示文摘Background Smith-Kingsmore syndrome(SKS)is a rare autosomal dominant disorder caused by de novo mutations of gene MTOR in most cases and germline mosaicism in a few cases. The first case of SKS was reported in 2013.The incidence of SKS remains unknown. The clinical manifestations of SKS are diverse, and common features are macrocephaly, intellectual disability, and seizures. Some patients with SKS have special facial features.Case presentation The case was a 5-month-old baby girl, who was admitted to the hospital for nystagmus, delayed development for 2 months, and intermittent convulsions for 2 days. The patient had a head circumference of 42 cm(+2SD),and showed facial deformity, low limb muscle tension, large areas of pigmentation,as well as mosaic patchy and strip-like pigment loss in her trunk and limbs.Meanwhile, her development was lagging behind peers.Physical examination did not reveal other abnormalities. She was diagnosed with SKS based on whole-exome sequencing combined with clinical symptoms and signs. She successively received treatment with adrenocorticotropic hormone, methylprednisolone sodium succinate, topiramate, levetiracetam, and zonisamide to reduce the number of convulsions in a short time, but drug resistance appeared thereafter. After combined treatment with multiple antiseizure medications, the patient still had seizures, but the amplitude of limb movement during the seizures was reduced compared to that before treatment. Conclusions This case expanded the phenotypic spectrum of SKS for diagnosis. We also review the related literature to promote the awareness, diagnosis, clinical management, and follow-up of SKS patients with MTOR mutations. | Meiling Cai Yanfei Zhao He Wang Shicheng Liu Huiyi Jiang | 2023 | Acta Epileptologica2023,6,4: | 0
