1Progress in wearable electronics/photonics—Moving toward the era of artificial intelligence and internet of things显示文摘The past few years have witnessed the significant impacts of wearable electronics/photonics on various aspects of our daily life,for example,healthcare monitoring and treatment,ambient monitoring,soft robotics,prosthetics,flexible display,communication,human-machine interactions,and so on.According to the development in recent years,the next-generation wearable electronics and photonics are advancing rapidly toward the era of artificial intelligence(AI)and internet of things(IoT),to achieve a higher level of comfort,convenience,connection,and intelligence.Herein,this review provides an opportune overview of the recent progress in wearable electronics,photonics,and systems,in terms of emerging materials,transducing mechanisms,structural configurations,applications,and their further integration with other technologies.First,development of general wearable electronics and photonics is summarized for the applications of physical sensing,chemical sensing,humanmachine interaction,display,communication,and so on.Then self-sustainable wearable electronics/photonics and systems are discussed based on system integration with energy harvesting and storage technologies.Next,technology fusion of wearable systems and AI is reviewed,showing the emergence and rapid development of intelligent/smart systems.In the last section of this review,perspectives about the future development trends of the next-generation wearable electronics/photonics are provided,that is,toward multifunctional,self-sustainable,and intelligent wearable systems in the AI/IoT era.Qiongfeng Shi Bowei Dong Tianyiyi He Zhongda Sun Jianxiong Zhu Zixuan Zhang Chengkuo Lee 2020InfoMat2020,2,6:17
2Silicon photonic platforms for mid-infrared applications [Invited]显示文摘Silicon photonic integrated circuits for telecommunication and data centers have been well studied in the past decade, and now most related efforts have been progressing toward commercialization. Scaling up the silicon-oninsulator(SOI)-based device dimensions in order to extend the operation wavelength to the short mid-infrared(MIR) range(2–4 μm) is attracting research interest, owing to the host of potential applications in lab-on-chip sensors, free space communications, and much more. Other material systems and technology platforms, including silicon-on-silicon nitride, germanium-on-silicon, germanium-on-SOI, germanium-on-silicon nitride, sapphireon-silicon, Si Ge alloy-on-silicon, and aluminum nitride-on-insulator are explored as well in order to realize low-loss waveguide devices for different MIR wavelengths. In this paper, we will comprehensively review silicon photonics for MIR applications, with regard to the state-of-the-art achievements from various device demonstrations in different material platforms by various groups. We will then introduce in detail of our institute's research and development efforts on the MIR photonic platforms as one case study. Meanwhile, we will discuss the integration schemes along with remaining challenges in devices(e.g., light source) and integration. A few application-oriented examples will be examined to illustrate the issues needing a critical solution toward the final production path(e.g., gas sensors). 3Synthesis and Application of Novel Triazine-Based Charring-Foaming Agents in Intumescent Flame Retardant Polypropylene显示文摘Three novel triazine-based charring-foaming agents (M2-CFA,M4-CFA,and M6-CFA) were synthesized successfully with only water as the solvent and were characterized by FT-IR and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).These three charring-foaming agents and the byproduct 944-by were employed to study the effectiveness of the novel intumescent flame retardant dopant on the fire retardancy of polypropylene (PP) investigated through UL-94 and limiting oxygen index (LOI) tests.TGA results showed that the M4-CFA presented good char formation ability (char residue: 26.8% at 700 ℃).It was found that the sample with a 2/1 mass ratio of APP to M4-CFA exhibited the best flame retardancy among all the PP composites: 35.5% LOI and a V-0 rating of UL-94.Additionally,the microstructure and morphology of char residues were further studied by XRD,Raman spectroscopy and SEM.Ligong Chen Yanyan Yuan Bowei Wang Na Liu Yuzhi Xing Yang Li 2017Transactions of Tianjin University2017,23,3:9

7Zacopride selectively activates the Kir2.1 channel via a PKA signaling pathway in rat cardiomyocytes显示文摘We recently reported that zacopride is a selective inward rectifier potassium current (IK1 ) channel agonist, suppressing ventricular arrhythmias without affecting atrial arrhythmias. The present study aimed to investigate the unique pharmacological properties of zacopride. The whole-cell patch-clamp technique was used to study IK1 currents in rat atrial myocytes and Kir2.x currents in human embryonic kidney (HEK)-293 cells transfected with inward rectifier potassium channel (Kir)2.1, Kir2.2, Kir2.3, or mutated Kir2.1 (at phosphorylation site S425L). Western immunoblots were performed to estimate the relative protein expression levels of Kir2.x in rat atria and ventricles. Results showed that zacopride did not affect the IK1 and transmembrane potential of atrial myocytes. In HEK293 cells, zacopride increased Kir2.1 homomeric channels by 40.7%±9.7% at 50 mV, but did not affect Kir2.2 and Kir2.3 homomeric channels, and Kir2.1-Kir2.2, Kir2.1-Kir2.3 and Kir2.2-Kir2.3 heteromeric channels. Western immunoblots showed that similar levels of Kir2.3 protein were expressed in rat atria and ventricles, but atrial Kir2.1 protein level was only 25% of that measured in the ventricle. In addition, 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) 3 receptor was undetectable, whereas 5-HT 4 receptor was weakly expressed in HEK293 cells. The Kir2.1-activating effect of zacopride in these cells was abolished by inhibition of protein kinase A (PKA), but not PKC or PKG. 8Organic photovoltaic cell with 17% efficiency and superior processability显示文摘The development of organic photoactive materials,especially the newly emerging non-fullerene electron acceptors(NFAs),has enabled rapid progress in organic photovoltaic(OPV)cells in recent years.Although the power conversion efficiencies(PCEs)of the top-performance OPV cells have surpassed 16%,the devices are usually fabricated via a spin-coating method and are not suitable for large-area production.Here,we demonstrate that the fine-modification of the flexible side chains of NFAs can yield 17%PCE for OPV cells.More crucially,as the optimal NFA has a suitable solubility and thus a desirable morphology,the high efficiencies of spin-coated devices can be maintained when using scalable blade-coating processing technology.Our results suggest that optimization of the chemical structures of the OPV materials can improve device performance.This has great significance in larger-area production technologies that provide important scientific insights for the commercialization of OPV cells.Yong Cui Huifeng Yao Ling Hong Tao Zhang Yabing Tang Baojun Lin Kaihu Xian Bowei Gao Cunbin An Pengqing Bi Wei Ma Jianhui Hou 2020National Science Review2020,7,7:7

10Insight into the topology effect on the diffusion of ethene and propene in zeolites: A molecular dynamics simulation study显示文摘Selectivity control is a difficult scientific and industrial challenge in methanol-to-olefins(MTO)conversion.It has been experimentally established that the topology of zeolite catalysts influenced the distribution of products.Besides the topology effect on reaction kinetics,the topology influences the diffusion of reactants and products in catalysts as well.In this work,by using COMPASS force-field molecular dynamics method,we investigated the intracrystalline diffusion of ethene and propene in four different zeolites,CHA,MFI,BEA and FAU,at different temperatures.The self-diffusion coefficients and diffusion activation barriers were calculated.A strong restriction on the diffusion of propene in CHA was observed because the self-diffusion coefficient ratio of ethene to propene is larger than 18 and the diffusion activation barrier of propene is more than 20 kJ/mol in CHA.This ratio decreases with the increase of temperature in the four investigated zeolites.The shape selectivity on products from diffusion perspective can provide some implications on the understanding of the selectivity difference between HSAPO-34 and HZSM-5 catalysts for the MTO conversion.Chuanming Wang Bowei Li Yangdong Wang Zaiku Xie 2013Journal of Energy Chemistry2013,22,6:6
11A Multisource Contour Matching Method Considering the Similarity of Geometric Features显示文摘The existing multi-source contour matching studies have focused on the matching methods with consideration of topological relations and similarity measurement based on spatial Euclidean distance,while it is lack of taking the contour geometric features into account,which may lead to mismatching in map boundaries and areas with intensive contours or extreme terrain changes.In light of this,it is put forward that a matching strategy from coarse to precious based on the contour geometric features.The proposed matching strategy can be described as follows.Firstly,the point sequence is converted to feature sequence according to a feature descriptive function based on curvature and angle of normal vector.Then the level of similarity among multi-source contours is calculated by using the longest common subsequence solution.Accordingly,the identical contours could be matched based on the above calculated results.In the experiment for the proposed method,the reliability and efficiency of the matching method are verified using simulative datasets and real datasets respectively.It has been proved that the proposed contour matching strategy has a high matching precision and good applicability.Wenyue GUO Anzhu YU Qun SUN Shaomei LI Qing XU Bowei WEN Yuanfu LI 2020Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2020,3,3:5

14Deep learning-enabled triboelectric smart socks for IoT-based gait analysis and VR applications显示文摘The era of artificial intelligence and internet of things is rapidly developed by recent advances in wearable electronics.Gait reveals sensory information in daily life containing personal information,regarding identification and healthcare.Current wearable electronics of gait analysis are mainly limited by high fabrication cost,operation energy consumption,or inferior analysis methods,which barely involve machine learning or implement nonoptimal models that require massive datasets for training.Herein,we developed low-cost triboelectric intelligent socks for harvesting waste energy from low-frequency body motions to transmit wireless sensory data.The sock equipped with self-powered functionality also can be used as wearable sensors to deliver information,regarding the identity,health status,and activity of the users.To further address the issue of ineffective analysis methods,an optimized deep learning model with an end-to-end structure on the socks signals for the gait analysis is proposed,which produces a 93.54%identification accuracy of 13 participants and detects five different human activities with 96.67%accuracy.Toward practical application,we map the physical signals collected through the socks in the virtual space to establish a digital human system for sports monitoring,healthcare,identification,and future smart home applications.Zixuan Zhang Tianyiyi He Minglu Zhu Zhongda Sun Qiongfeng Shi Jianxiong Zhu Bowei Dong Mehmet Rasit Yuce Chengkuo Lee 2020npj Flexible Electronics2020,4,1:4
15Anti-rutting performance evaluation of modified asphalt binders: A review显示文摘Asphalt pavement inevitably suffers rutting distress induced by repeated loads under high temperatures, which can be effectively alleviated by the modification of asphalt binders.This paper summarized the asphalt modifiers for enhancing the performance of asphalt pavement at high temperatures in terms of the modifier type, additive amount and improving effect. Then, the anti-rutting performance evaluation methods of asphalt binder were introduced with details, including the ring and ball(R&B) test, the dynamic viscosity test, the zero/low shear viscosity(ZSV/LSV) test, the dynamic shear rheometer(DSR) test,the repeated creep and recovery(RCR) test, and the multiple stress creep and recovery(MSCR) test. Furthermore, the sensitivity of the evaluation method to asphalt modifier was analyzed using the normalization method. It was found that the indicators from the MSCR test could clearly reveal the influence of asphalt modifiers on high temperature performance of asphalt binder. But it still had some limitations affecting the accuracy of evaluation results, such as the number of creep-recovery cycles, the stress level and the recovery time. 16Robust and efficient direct multiplex amplification method for large-scale DNA detection of blood samples on FTA cards显示文摘Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage arising from radiations widely occurred along with the development of nuclear weapons and clinically wide application of computed tomography (CT) scan and nuclear medicine. All ionizing radiations (X-rays, γ-rays, alpha particles, etc.) and ultraviolet (UV) radiation lead to the DNA damage. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is one of the most wildly used techniques for detecting DNA damage as the amplification stops at the site of the damage. Improvements to enhance the efficiency of PCR are always required and remain a great challenge. Here we establish a multiplex PCR assay system (MPAS) that is served as a robust and efficient method for direct detection of target DNA sequences in genomic DNA. The establishment of the system is performed by adding a combination of PCR enhancers to standard PCR buffer. The performance of MPAS was demonstrated by carrying out the direct PCR amplification on 1.2 mm human blood punch using commercially available primer sets which include multiple primer pairs. The optimized PCR system resulted in high quality genotyping results without any inhibitory effect indicated and led to a full-profile success rate of 98.13%. 17Three co-located resistance genes confer resistance to leaf rust and stripe rust in wheat variety Borlaug 100显示文摘Leaf rust(LR) and stripe rust(YR) are important diseases in wheat producing areas worldwide and cause severe yield losses under favorable environmental conditions when susceptible varieties are grown. We determined the genetic basis of resistance to LR and YR in variety Borlaug 100 by developing and phenotyping a population of 198 F6 recombinant inbred lines derived from a cross with the susceptible parent Apav#1. LR and YR phenotyping were conducted for 4 and 3 seasons, respectively, at CIMMYT research stations in Mexico under artificial epidemics. Mendelian segregation analyses indicated that 3–5 LR and 2 YR genes conferred resistance in Borlaug 100. Lr46/Yr29(1 BL), Yr17(2 AS) and Yr30(3 BS) were present in the resistant parent and segregated in the RIL population based on characterization by molecular markers linked to these genes. When present alone, Lr46/Yr29 caused average 13% and 16% reductions in LR and YR severities, respectively, in RILs. Similarly, Yr17 and Yr30 reduced YR severities by 57% and 11%, respectively. The Yr30 and the Yr17 translocation were also associated with 27% and 14% reductions, respectively, in LR severity, indicating that the 3 BS and 2 AS chromosomal regions likely carry new slow rusting LR resistance genes, temporarily designated as Lr B1 and Lr B2, respectively. Additive effects of Yr30*Yr17, Yr29*Yr17 and Yr29*Yr30 on YR and LR were significant and reduced YR severities by 56%,55%, and 45%, respectively, and LR severities by 34%, 40%, and 45%, respectively. Furthermore, interaction between the three genes was also significant, with mean reductions of 70% for YR and 54% for LR severities. 18Effectiveness of Nature Reserves for Natural Forests Protection in Tropical Hainan: a 20 Year Analysis显示文摘The establishment of nature reserves is a key approach for biodiversity conservation worldwide. However, there is a lack of unified methodology to evaluate the effectiveness of nature reserves, particularly in China, the world′s most populous nation supporting some of the most valuable biodiversity hotspots in the world. In this study, we conducted a long-term and large-scale analysis of the effectiveness of 20 of the earliest nature reserves established in Hainan Province, an island home to among the highest concentration of plants and animals in China. Remote sensing imagery from 1988, 1998, and 2008 were analyzed to investigate the temporal and spatial changes of natural forests in these nature reserves and surrounding areas. We also conducted transition matrix analysis and principle component analysis to identify the driving factors that affect the protection effectiveness of nature reserves. The results were as follows: 1) During the 20-year period from 1988 to 2008, natural forests coverage of the 20 studied nature reserves dropped 2.34 percentage points, whereas the natural forests coverage dropped 11.31 percentage points in a 0–5 km outside reserve buffer and 9.36 percentage points in a 5–10 km outside reserve buffer, indicating a significant inhibitory effect of the nature reserves on the loss of natural forests. 2) Natural forests coverage dropped in 60% of the studied nature reserves during the 20-year period, suggesting a poor protection effectiveness of these reserves, while the coverage proportion showed some increase(0%/yr–5%/yr) in other reserves. 3) Expansion of rubber and pulp forests as part of a booming economy were the main factors affecting the effectiveness of the nature reserves for conserving natural forests in Hainan Province. 19Enhancing the mechanical and anticorrosion properties of 316L stainless steel via a cathodic plasma electrolytic nitriding treatment with added PEG显示文摘A cathodic plasma electrolytic nitriding(CPEN)treatment with a urea aqueous solution was performed on 316L stainless steel to rapidly improve its surface properties in this work.Test results show that the PEG2000 macromolecules increased the nitriding energy via enhancing the ability to bond the produced gas film to the metal/electrolyte interface.The cross-sectional morphologies indicate that a thick nitrided layer was obtained when the urea concentration was 543 g I^-1,corresponding to a Vickers hardness 450 HV(0.1),which was 3.5 times larger than that of the substrate.The nitrided layer mainly contained expanded austenite(γN),oxides and iron nitrides(e.g.,Fe3O4 and FeN(0.076)).In terms of its performance,coefficient of friction(COF)of the nitride layer decreased to nearly two-thirds that of the untreated layer,and the passivation current densities of the nitrided sample in a 3.5%NaCl solution decreased by an order of magnitude compared to that of the substrate.Therefore,the approach presented herein provides an attractive way to modify the effect of CPEN in a urea aqueous solution.Tianyi Zhang Junsheng Wu Lei Jin Zhan Zhang Wan Rong Bowei Zhang Yi Wang Yedong He Wei Liu Xiaogang Li 2019Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,11:3
