| 1 | Chemical composition,antioxidant and antibacterial activities of essential oil and methanol extract of Artemisia vulgaris and Gaultheria fragrantissima collected from Nepal显示文摘Objective: To identify the chemical constituents and biological activities of essential oil and crude methanol extract of Artemisia vulgaris(A.vulgaris) and Gaultheria fragrantissima(G.fragrantissima).Methods: Phytochemical screening, total phenolic and flavonoid content, antibacterial activities, anti-oxidant assay of the crude extract were carried out to identify the biological activities and phytonutrients present in the extract.Furthermore, the chemical constituents present in the essential oil and crude methanol extract were analyzed using gas chromatography mass spectroscopy and high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) analysis.Results: Gas chromatography mass spectroscopy analysis of essential oil from the aerial part of A.vulgaris revealed 24 different compounds in it.Sabinene(11.29%), b-thujone(19.19%), chrysanthenone(4.48%), camphor(11.89%), borneol(4.44%) and germacrene D(8.42%) were the major compounds.Similarly, leaves of G.fragrantissima contained methyl salicylate(95%) and asarone(4.64%).Furthermore, methanol extract of leaves of A.vulgaris and G.fragrantissima were found rich in the total flavonoids and phenolic content.HPLC analysis of the methanol extract of leaves A.vulgaris revealed the presence of morin and luteolin, whereas rutin was found as a major flavonoids compound in the leaves of G.fragrantissima.Further, methanol extract of the A.vulgaris and G.fragrantissima showed the highest antioxidant and antibacterial properties compared to the essential oil.Conclusions: The HPLC analysis of the methanol extract of A.vulgaris shows the presence of luteolin and morin, whereas G.fragrantissima reveals the presence of rutin and a glycosylated flavonoids.Results reveal that A.vulgaris oil is the rich source of monoterpene and sesquiterpene compounds.Furthermore, A.vulgaris and G.fragrantissima are the rich source of the phenolic and flavonoids compounds and show good antioxidant and antibacterial activity. | Bishnu Prasad Pandey Rupak Thapa Anil Upreti | 2017 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2017，10，10： | 8 |

| 3 | Retrospective analysis of complications related to endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography in patients with cirrhosis vs patients without cirrhosis显示文摘BACKGROUND There is minimal objective data regarding adverse events related to endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography(ERCP)in patients with cirrhosis compared to those without cirrhosis and even fewer data comparing complications among cirrhosis patients based on severity of cirrhosis.AIM To determine if patients with cirrhosis are at increased risk of adverse events related to ERCP:mainly pancreatitis,bleeding,perforation,cholangitis,and mortality;And to see if higher Child-Pugh(CP)score and Model for End-Stage Liver Disease(MELD)score are associated with higher post-ERCP complications.METHODS We performed a retrospective analysis of 692 patients who underwent ERCP and analyzed the impact of cirrhosis etiology,gender,type of sedation used during procedure,interventions performed,and co-morbidities on the rate of complications in cirrhosis patients as compared to non-cirrhosis patients.RESULTS Overall complications were higher in those with cirrhosis as compared to those without cirrhosis(P=0.015 at significance level of 0.05).CP class,especially CP class C,was shown to be associated with a significantly higher rate of ERCP complications as compared to CP class A and CP class B(P=0.010 at significance level of 0.05).CONCLUSION The results of our study reaffirm that liver cirrhosis has an impact on the occurrence of complications during ERCP.Our study shows that CP class seems to be more reliable as compared to MELD score in predicting complications of ERCP in cirrhosis patients. | Michelle Bernshteyn Linda Hu Umair Masood Anuj Vikrant Sharma Danning Huang Bishnu Sapkota | 2021 | World Journal of Hepatology2021，13，4： | 3 |

| 5 | Evaluation of curcumin and copper acetate against Salmonella Typhimurium infection,intestinal permeability,and cecal microbiota composition in broiler chickens显示文摘Background:Interest in the use of natural feed additives as an alternative to antimicrobials in the poultry industry has increased in recent years because of the risk of bacterial resistance.One of the most studied groups are polyphenolic compounds,given their advantages over other types of additives and their easy potentiation of effects when complexes are formed with metal ions.Therefore,the objective of the present study was to evaluate the impact of dietary supplementation of copper acetate(CA),curcumin(CR),and their combination(CA-CR)against Salmonella Typhimurium colonization,intestinal permeability,and cecal microbiota composition in broiler chickens through a laboratory Salmonella infection model.S.Typhimurium recovery was determined on day 10 post-challenge by isolating Salmonella in homogenates of the right cecal tonsil(12 chickens per group)on Xylose Lysine Tergitol-4(XLT-4)with novobiocin and nalidixic acid.Intestinal integrity was indirectly determined by the fluorometric measurement of fluorescein isothiocyanate dextran(FITC-d)in serum samples from blood obtained on d 10 post-S.Typhimurium challenge.Finally,microbiota analysis was performed using the content of the left caecal tonsil of 5 chickens per group by sequencing V4 region of 16S rRNA gene.Results:The results showed that in two independent studies,all experimental treatments were able to significantly reduce the S.Typhimurium colonization in cecal tonsils(CT,P<0.0001)compared to the positive control(PC)group.However,only CA-CR was the most effective treatment in reducing S.Typhimurium counts in both independent studies.Furthermore,the serum fluorescein isothiocyanate dextran(FITC-d)concentration in chickens treated with CR was significantly lower when compared to PC(P=0.0084),which is related to a decrease in intestinal permeability and therefore intestinal integrity.The effect of dietary treatments in reducing Salmonella was further supported by the analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences using Linear discriminant analysis effect size(LEfSe)since Salmonella was significantly enriched in PC group(LDA score>2.0 and P<0.05)compared to other groups.In addition,Coprobacillus,Eubacterium,and Clostridium were significantly higher in the PC group compared to other treatment groups.On the contrary,Fecalibacterium and Enterococcus in CR,unknown genus of Erysipelotrichaceae at CA-CR,and unknown genus of Lachnospiraceae at CA were significantly more abundant respectively.Conclusions:CR treatment was the most effective treatment to reduce S.Typhimurium intestinal colonization and maintain better intestinal homeostasis which might be achieved through modulation of cecal microbiota. | Anaisa ALeyva-Diaz Daniel Hernandez-Patlan Bruno Solis-Cruz Bishnu Adhikari Young Min Kwon Juan D.Latorre Xochitl Hernandez-Velasco Benjamin Fuente-Martinez Billy M.Hargis Raquel Lopez-Arellano Guillermo Tellez-Isaias | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021，12，3： | 2 |
