Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Strain W19 can Promote Growth and Yield and Suppress Fusarium Wilt in Banana Under Greenhouse and Field Conditions显示文摘Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR) are considered to be the most promising agents for cash crop production via increasing crop yields and decreasing disease occurrence. The Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain W19 can produce secondary metabolites(iturin and bacillomycin D) effectively against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense(FOC). In this study, the ability of a bio-organic fertilizer(BIO) containing strain W19 to promote plant growth and suppress the Fusarium wilt of banana was evaluated in both pot and field experiments. The results showed that application of BIO significantly promoted the growth and fruit yield of banana while suppressing the banana Fusarium wilt disease. To further determine the beneficial mechanisms of the strain, the colonization of green fluorescent protein-tagged strain W19 on banana roots was observed using confocal laser scanning microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The effect of banana root exudates on the formation of biofilm of strain W19 indicated that the banana root exudates may enhance colonization. In addition, the strain W19 was able to produce indole-3-acetic acid(IAA), a plant growth-promoting hormone. The results of these experiments revealed that the application of strain W19-enriched BIO improved the banana root colonization of strain W19 and growth of banana and suppressed the Fusarium wilt. The PGPR strain W19 can be a useful biocontrol agent for the production of banana under field conditions. | WANG Beibei SHEN Zongzhuan ZHANG Fengge Waseem RAZA YUAN Jun HUANG Rong RUAN Yunze LI Rong SHEN Qirong | 2016 | Pedosphere2016,26,5: | 22
Organochlorine pesticides and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water and sediment of the Bosten Lake,Northwest China显示文摘We evaluated organic pollution in Bosten Lake, Xinjiang, China, by measuring the concentrations and distributions of organochlorine pesticides(OCPs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs). Water and sediment samples were collected from 19 sites(B1–B19) in the lake for analysis. Our analytical results show that the concentrations of total OCPs in water ranges from 30.3 to 91.6 ng/L and the concentrations of PAHs ranges from undetectable(ND) to 368.7 ng/L. The concentrations of total OCPs in surface(i.e., lake bottom) sediment ranges from 6.9 to 16.7 ng/g and the concentrations of PAHs ranges from 25.2 to 491.0 ng/g. Hexachlorocyclohexanes(HCHs) and dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes(DDTs) account for large proportions of the OCPs. Low α- to γ-HCH ratios in both water and sediment samples indicate possible contributions from both industrial products and lindane. DDTs in water are probably from historical input, whereas DDTs in sediments are from both historical and recent inputs. Moreover, DDT products in both water and sediments were from multiple sources in the northwestern part of the lake(B11, B12, B13, and B14). Fugacity ratios for DDT isomers(p,p′-DDE and p,p′-DDT) at these sites were generally higher than equilibrium values. These results suggest that the input from the Kaidu River and diffusion of DDTs from the sediment to the water are responsible for DDT pollution in the water. Lower-molecular-weight PAHs, which originate primarily from wood and coal combustion and petroleum sources, represent the major fraction of the PAHs in both water and sediment samples. Our findings indicate that OCPs and PAHs in Bosten Lake can be attributed primarily to human activities. A risk assessment of OCPs and PAHs in water and sediment from Bosten Lake, however, suggests that concentrations are not yet high enough to cause adverse biological effects on the aquatic ecosystem. | SHEN Beibei WU Jinglu ZHAO Zhonghua | 2017 | Journal of Arid Land2017,9,2: | 12
Bilayer dissolving microneedle array containing 5-fluorouracil and triamcinolone with biphasic release profile for hypertrophic scar therapy显示文摘Hypertrophic scar(HS)is an undesirable skin abnormality following deep burns or operations.Although intralesional multi-injection with the suspension of triamcinolone acetonide(TA)and 5-fluorouracil(5-Fu)has exhibited great promise to HS treatment in clinical, the difference of metabolic behavior between TA and 5-Fu remarkably compromised the treatment efficacy.Besides, the traditional injection with great pain is highly dependent on the skill of the experts, which results in poor compliance.Herein,a bilayer dissolving microneedle(BMN)containing TA and 5-Fu(TA-5-Fu-BMN)with biphasic release profile was designed for HS therapy.Equipped with several micro-scale needle tips, the BMN could be self-pressed into the HS with uniform drug distribution and less pain. Both in vitro permeation and in vivo HS retention tests revealed that TA and 5-Fu could coexist in the scar tissue for a sufficient time period due to the well-designed biphasic release property.Subsequently, the rabbit ear HS model was established to assess therapeutic efficacy. The histological analysis showed that TA-5-Fu-BMN could significantly reduce abnormal fibroblast proliferation and collagen fiber deposition. It was also found that the value of scar elevation index was ameliorated to a basal level, together with the downregulation of mRNA and protein expression of Collagen I(Col I)and transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)after application of TA-5-Fu-BMN.In conclusion, the BMN with biphasic release profiles could serve as a potential strategy for HS treatment providing both convenient administrations as well as controlled drug release behavior. | Beibei Yang Yating Dong Yifeng Shen Ailin Hou Guilan Quan Xin Pan Chuanbin Wu | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,8: | 8
Dynamic-Change Laws of the Porosity and Permeability of Low-to Medium-Rank Coals under Heating and Pressurization Treatments in the Eastern Junggar Basin,China显示文摘Deep coalbed methane exists in high-temperature and high-pressure reservoirs. To elucidate the dynamic-change laws of the deep coal reservoir porosity and permeability characteristics in the process of coalbed methane production, based on three pieces of low-to medium-rank coal samples in the eastern Junggar Basin, Xinjiang, we analyse their mercury-injection pore structures. We measured the porosity and permeability of the coal samples at various temperatures and confining pressures by high-temperature and confining pressure testing. The results show that the porosity of a coal sample decreases exponentially with increasing effective stress. With increasing temperature, the initial porosity increases for two pieces of relatively low-rank coal samples. The increased rate of porosity decreases with increasing confining pressure. With increasing temperature, the initial porosity of a relatively high-rank coal sample decreases, and the rate of change of the porosity become faster. An exponential relationship exists between the porosity and permeability. With increasing coal rank, the initial porosity and permeability decrease. The change rate of the permeability decreases with increasing porosity. | Gang Wang Yong Qin Jian Shen Shuyuan Chen Beibei Han Xiaoting Zhou | 2018 | Journal of Earth Science2018,29,3: | 8
sLe^(x) expression in invasive micropapillary breast carcinoma is associated with poor prognosis and can be combined with MUC1/EMA as a supplementary diagnostic indicator显示文摘Objective: Mucin 1(MUC1/EMA) and sialyl Lewis X(sLe^(x)) indicate polarity reversal in invasive micropapillary carcinoma(IMPC). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the expression of MUC1/EMA and sLe^(x) and to assess their diagnostic and prognostic value in patients with IMPC.Methods: The expression of sLe^(x) and MUC1/EMA in 100 patients with IMPC and a control group of 89 patients with invasive ductal carcinoma not otherwise specified(IDC-NOS) were analyzed with IHC. Fresh tumor tissues were collected from patients with IMPC or IDC-NOS for primary culture and immunofluorescence analysis. Results: The rate of nodal metastasis was higher in patients with IMPC than those with IDC-NOS, and IMPC cells tended to express more sLe^(x) and MUC1/EMA in the cytomembranes(the stroma-facing surfaces of the micropapillary clusters) than IDC-NOS cells. In IMPC, high cytomembrane expression of sLe^(x), but not MUC1/EMA, indicated poor prognosis. In addition, among the 100 patients with IMPC, 10 patients had sLe^(x)+/EMA-expression patterns, and 8 patients had sLe^(x)-/EMA+ expression patterns. The primary IMPC cells were suspended, non-adherent tumor cell clusters, whereas the primary IDC cells were adherent tumor cells. Immunofluorescence analysis showed that MUC1/EMA and sLe^(x) were co-expressed on the cytomembranes in IMPC cell clusters and in the cytoplasm in IDC-NOS cells. Conclusions: sLe^(x) can be used as a prognostic indicator and can be combined with MUC1/EMA as a complementary diagnostic indicator to avoid missed IMPC diagnosis. | Yawen Song Hui Sun Kailiang Wu Jianke Lyu Jingyue Zhang Feng Gu Yongjie Ma Beibei Shen Chijuan Wang Xiaojiao Chen Jing Xu Weidong Li Fangfang Liu Li Fu | 2021 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,2: | 7
In-situ surface decoration of RuO_(2) nanoparticles by laser ablation for improved oxygen evolution reaction activity in both acid and alkali solutions显示文摘Improving the OER activity of noble metal-based materials is of profound importance to minimize the usage of noble metals and lower the cost. Here,we report considerable improvement on the catalytic activity of RuO_(2) particles for OER in both alkali and acid environments. The RuO_(2) nanoparticles were treated with a method of pulse laser ablation.Numerous Ru and RuO_(2) clusters were generated at the surface of RuO_(2) nanoparticles after the laser ablation, forming a lychee-shaped morphology. The larger pulse energy RuO_(2) nanoparticles are treated with, the better the OER activity can be.DFT calculations shows that the surface tension induced by the lychee-shaped morphology benefits the OER performance. Our best sample gives an overpotential of 172 mV(at 10 mA cm^(-2))and a Tafel slope of 53.5 mV dec^(-1) in KOH,while an overpotential of 219 mV and a Tafel slope of 44.9 mV dec^(-1) in H_(2)SO_(4),which are of topclass results. This work may inspire a new way to develop high-performance electrocatalysts for OER. | Zongpeng Wang Beibei Xiao Zhiping Lin Shijie Shen Aijiao Xu Zexin Du Yuchao Chen Wenwu Zhong | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,3: | 4
Surface Oxygen Injection in Tin Disulfide Nanosheets for Efficient CO_(2) Electroreduction to Formate and Syngas显示文摘Surface chemistry modification represents a promising strategy to tailor the adsorption and activation of reaction intermediates for enhancing activity.Herein,we designed a surface oxygen-injection strategy to tune the electronic structure of SnS_(2) nanosheets, which showed effectively enhanced electrocatalytic activity and selectivity of CO_(2) reduction to formate and syngas(CO and H_(2)).The oxygen-injection SnS_(2) nanosheets exhibit a remarkable Faradaic efficiency of 91.6%for carbonaceous products with a current density of 24.1 mA cm^(−2) at−0.9 V vs RHE,including 83.2%for formate production and 16.5%for syngas with the CO/H_(2) ratio of 1:1.By operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy,we unravel the in situ surface oxygen doping into the matrix during reaction, thereby optimizing the Sn local electronic states.Operando synchrotron radiation infrared spectroscopy along with theoretical calculations further reveals that the surface oxygen doping facilitated the CO_(2) activation and enhanced the affinity for HCOO*species. This result demonstrates the potential strategy of surface oxygen injection for the rational design of advanced catalysts for CO_(2) electroreduction. | Tao Chen Tong Liu Tao Ding Beibei Pang Lan Wang Xiaokang Liu Xinyi Shen Sicong Wang Dan Wu Dong Liu Linlin Cao Qiquan Luo Wei Zhang Wenkun Zhu Tao Yao | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,11: | 3
Mesoporous Ternary Nitrides of Earth?Abundant Metals as Oxygen Evolution Electrocatalyst显示文摘As sustainable energy becomes a major concern for modern society, renewable and clean energy systems need highly active, stable, and low-cost catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Mesoporous materials offer an attractive route for generating efficient electrocatalysts with high mass transport capabilities.Herein,we report an efficient hard templating pathway to design and synthesize three-dimensional(3-D)mesoporous ternary nickel iron nitride(Ni3FeN).The as-synthesized electrocatalyst shows good OER performance in an alkaline solution with low overpotential(259 mV)and a small Tafel slope(54 mV dec?1),giving superior performance to IrO2 and RuO2 catalysts. The highly active contact area, the hierarchical porosity, and the synergistic effect of bimetal atoms contributed to the improved electrocatalytic performance toward OER.In a practical rechargeable Zn–air battery, mesoporous Ni3FeN is also shown to deliver a lower charging voltage and longer lifetime than RuO2.This work opens up a new promising approach to synthesize active OER electrocatalysts for energy-related devices. | Ali Saad Hangjia Shen Zhixing Cheng Ramis Arbi Beibei Guo Lok Shu Hui Kunyu Liang Siqi Liu John Paul Attfield Ayse Turak Jiacheng Wang Minghui Yang | 2020 | Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,6: | 2
Changes in bulk soil affect the disease-suppressive rhizosphere microbiome against Fusarium wilt disease显示文摘Harnessing disease suppressive microbiomes constitutes a promising strategy for optimizing plant growth. However, relatively lttle information is available about the relationship between bulk and rhizosphere soil microbiomes. Here, the assembly of banana bulk soil and rhizosphere microbiomes was investigated in a mono-culture system consisting of bio-organic(BIO)and organic management practices.Applying BIO practice in newly reclaimed fields resulted in a high-efficiency biocontrol rate, thus providing a promising strategy for pre-control of Fusarium wilt disease. The soil microbiota was further characterized by MiSeq sequencing and quantitative PCR.The results indicate that disease suppression was mediated by the structure of a suppressive rhizosphere microbiome with respect to distinct community composition, diversity and abundance.Overall microbiome suppressiveness was primarily related to a particular set of enriched bacterial taxa affiliated with Pseudomonas,Terrimonas,Cupriavi-dus,Gp6,Ohtaekwangia and Duganella.Finally,struc-tural equation modeling was used to show that the changes in bulk soil bacterial community determined its induced rhizosphere bacterial community, which serves as an important and direct factor in restraining the pathogen.Collectively, this study provides an integrative approach to disentangle the biological basis of disease-suppressive microbiomes in the context of agricultural practice and soil management. | Lin FU Wu XIONG Francisco DINI-ANDREOTE Beibei WANG Chengyuan TAO Yunze RUAN Zongzhuan SHEN Rong LI Qirong SHEN | 2020 | Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2020,7,3: | 1

BGB-A445,a novel non-ligand-blocking agonistic anti-OX40 antibody, exhibits superior immune activation and antitumor effects in preclinical models显示文摘t OX40 is a costimulatory receptor that is expressed primarily on activated CD4+,CD8+,and regulatory T cells. The ligation of OX40 to its sole ligand OX40L potentiates T cell expansion, differentiation, and activation and also promotes dendritic cells to mature to enhance their cytokine production. Therefore, the use of agonistic anti-Ox40 antibodies for cancer immunotherapy has gained great interest. However, most of the agonistic anti-OX40 antibodies in the clinic are OX40L-competitive and show limited efficacy. Here,we discovered that BGB-A445,a non-ligand-competitive agonistic anti-OX40 antibody currently under clinical investigation, induced optimal T cell activation without impairing dendritic cell function. In addition,BGB-A445 dose-dependently and significantly depleted regulatory T cells in vitro and in vivo via antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity. In the MC38 syngeneic model established in humanized OX40 knock-in mice,BGB-A445 demonstrated robust and dose-dependent antitumor efficacy, whereas the ligand-competitive anti-Ox40 antibody showed antitumor efficacy characterized by a hook effect.Furthermore,BGB-A445 demonstrated a strong combination antitumor effect with an anti-PD-1 antibody.Taken together, our findings show that BGB-A445,which does not block OX40-OX40L interaction in contrast to clinical-stage anti-OX40 antibodies, shows superior immune-stimulating effects and antitumor efficacy and thus warrants further clinical investigation. | Beibei Jiang Tong Zhang Minjuan Deng Wei Jin Yuan Hong Xiaotong Chen Xin Chen Jing Wang Hongjia Hou Yajuan Gao Wenfeng Gong Xing Wang Haiying Li Xiaosui Zhou Yingcai Feng Bo Zhang Bin Jiang Xueping Lu Lijie Zhang Yang Li Weiwei Song Hanzi Sun Zuobai Wang Xiaomin Song Zhirong Shen Xuesong Liu Kang Li Lai Wangl Ye Liu | 2023 | Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,6: | 0
The beneficial effects of Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum Gaertn.) on diet-induced obesity in mice are related to the modulation of gut microbiota composition显示文摘The gut is home to a large number of intestinal microbiota that play an important role in the metabolism and immune system of the host.A growing body of evidence suggests that a high-fat diet is closely associated with many metabolic disorders, including fatty liver and type 2 diabetes.According to reports,Tartary buckwheat extract has a positive effect on intestinal microbiota in animals. The effects of Tartary buckwheat on biochemical indexes and intestinal microflora in mice were studied.Tartary buckwheat protein(FGP),Tartary buckwheat resistant starch(FGS)and Tartary buckwheat flour(FGF)alleviated organ damage in mice and lowered the atherosclerotic index(AI)in plasma.Otherwise, principal coordinate analysis(PCoA)showed that intestinal bacterial structure of FGF were separated apparently from other groups. The Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes(F/B)value of the high-fat(HF)-FGF group was significantly lower than that of the HF-FGP and HF-FGS groups.FGF significantly increases the abundance of beneficial bacteria such as Bifidobacterium, while decreasing the abundance of lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-producing bacteria.Observation of blood lipid metabolism parameters and analysis of the intestinal microbiota suggested that FGF can be more effective than FGP and FGS to reduce the effects of a high-fat diet in mice, restoring the blood parameters to values similar of those in mice fed a low-fat diet.FGF may be used to prevent or treat blood lipid metabolism disorders and intestinal microbiota disorders in mice fed a high-fat diet. | Yiming Zhou Haoyu Lu Shen Zhao Beibei Yan Hong Wang Xiaoli Zhou Ying Xiao | 2023 | Food Science and Human Wellness2023,12,4: | 0
Deflagration characteristics of freely propagating flames in magnesium hydride dust clouds显示文摘The flame propagation processes of MgH_(2)dust clouds with four different particle sizes were recorded by a high-speed camera. The dynamic flame temperature distributions of MgH_(2)dust clouds were reconstructed by the two-color pyrometer technique, and the chemical composition of solid combustion residues were analyzed. The experimental results showed that the average flame propagation velocities of 23μm,40μm,60μm and 103μm MgH_(2)dust clouds in the stable propagation stage were 3.7 m/s,2.8 m/s,2.1 m/s and 0.9 m/s,respectively.The dust clouds with smaller particle sizes had faster flame propagation velocity and stronger oscillation intensity, and their flame temperature distributions were more even and the temperature gradients were smaller. The flame structures of MgH_(2)dust clouds were significantly affected by the particle sinking velocity, and the combustion processes were accompanied by micro-explosion of particles. The falling velocities of 23μm and 40μm MgH_(2)particles were 2.24 cm/s and 6.71 cm/s,respectively.While the falling velocities of 60μm and 103μm MgH_(2)particles were as high as 15.07 cm/s and 44.42 cm/s,respectively,leading to a more rapid downward development and irregular shape of the flame.Furthermore, the dehydrogenation reaction had a significant effect on the combustion performance of MgH_(2)dust.The combustion of H_(2)enhanced the ignition and combustion characteristics of MgH_(2)dust,resulting in a much higher explosion power than the pure Mg dust. The micro-structure characteristics and combustion residues composition analysis of MgH_(2)dust indicated that the combustion control mechanism of MgH_(2)dust flame was mainly the heterogeneous reaction, which was affected by the dehydrogenation reaction. | Qiwei Zhang Yangfan Cheng Beibei Zhang Danyi Li Zhaowu Shen | 2024 | Defence Technology(防务技术)2024,31,1: | 0
A zero-sum game or an interactive frame?Iron competition between bacteriaand humans ininfectionwar显示文摘Iron is an essential trace element for both humans and bacteria. It plays a vital role in life, such as in redox reactions and electron transport.Strict regulatory mechanisms are necessary to maintain iron homeostasis because both excess and insufficient iron are harmful to life.Competition for iron is a war between humans and bacteria. To grow, reproduce, colonize, and successfully cause infection, pathogens have evolved various mechanisms for iron uptake from humans, principally Fe^(3+)-siderophore and Fe^(2+)-heme transport systems.Humans have many innate immune mechanisms that regulate the distribution of iron and inhibit bacterial iron uptake to help resist bacterial invasion and colonization.Meanwhile, researchers have invented detection test strips and coupled antibiotics with siderophores to create tools that take advantage of this battle for iron,to help eliminate pathogens. In this review,we summarize bacterial and human iron metabolism, competition for iron between humans and bacteria, siderophore sensors, antibiotics coupled with siderophores, and related phenomena. We also discuss how competition for iron can be used for diagnosis and treatment of infection inthefuture. | Zhenchao Wu Jiqi Shao Jiajia Zheng Beibei Liu Zhiyuan Li Ning Shen | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,135,16: | 0
