| 2 | Effects of maize root exudates and organic acids on the desorption of phenanthrene from soils显示文摘The eects of maize root exudates and low-molecular-weight-organic anions (LMWOAs) on the desorption of phenanthrene from eight artificially contaminated soils were evaluated. A significant negative correlation was observed between the amounts of phenanthrene desorbed and the soil organic carbon (SOC) contents (P < 0.01), and the inuences of soil pH and clay content on phenanthrene desorption were insignificant (P > 0.1). Neither maize root exudates nor oxalate and citrate anions inuenced desorption of phenanthrene with the addition of NaN3. A faster phenanthrene desorption occurred without the addition of NaN3 in the presence of maize root exudates than oxalate or citrate due to the enhanced degradation by root exudates. Without the addition of NaN3, oxalate or citrate at dierent concentrations could inhibit phenanthrene desorption to dierent extents and the inhibiting eect by citrate was more significant than by oxalate. | 3 | Occurrence and distribution of antibiotic resistance genes in the sediments of the East China Sea bays显示文摘The coastal area of the East China Sea has experienced rapid urbanization and industrialization in China since 1980 s, resulting in severe pollution of its environments.Antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs) are regarded as a kind of emerging pollutant with potential high risk. The sediment samples were collected from Hangzhou Bay(HB),Xiangshan Bay(XB), and Taizhou Bay(TB) to investigate the spatial occurrence and distribution of 27 ARGs and class I integron–integrase gene(intI1) in the coastal area of the East China Sea. The PCR results showed the frequent presence of 11 ARGs and intI1 in the sediments of the three bays. The qPCR results further showed that sulfonamide resistance was the most prevalent ARG type and antibiotic target replacement and protection were the most important resistance mechanisms in the sediments. Regarding the subtype of ARGs, sulI, tetW, and dfrA13 were the most abundant ARGs, in which sulI was higher in TB(based on both the absolute and relative abundances) and dfrA13 was higher in HB(based on the relative abundances). The network analysis revealed that intI1 had significant correlations with tetC, sulI, sulII, and blaPSE-1. Oil was the key connected factor, which had positive connections with sulI, sulII, and blaPSE-1. | 4 | Performance and comparison of assessment models to predict 30-day mortality in patients with hospital-acquired pneumonia显示文摘Background:Hospital-acquired pneumonia(HAP)is the most common hospital-acquired infection in China with substantial morbidity and mortality.But no specific risk assessment model has been well validated in patients with HAP.The aim of this study was to investigate the published risk assessment models that could potentially be used to predict 30-day mortality in HAP patients in non-surgical departments.Methods:This study was a single-center,retrospective study.In total,223 patients diagnosed with HAP from 2012 to 2017 were included in this study.Clinical and laboratory data during the initial 24 hours after HAP diagnosis were collected to calculate the pneumonia severity index(PSI);consciousness,urea nitrogen,respiratory rate,blood pressure,and age≥65 years(CURB-65);Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II(APACHE II);Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA);and Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(qSOFA)scores.The discriminatory power was tested by constructing receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves,and the areas under the curve(AUCs)were calculated.Results:The all-cause 30-day mortality rate was 18.4%(41/223).The PSI,CURB-65,SOFA,APACHE II,and qSOFA scores were significantly higher in non-survivors than in survivors(all P<0.001).The discriminatory abilities of the APACHE II and SOFA scores were better than those of the CURB-65 and qSOFA scores(ROC AUC:APACHE II vs.CURB-65,0.863 vs.0.744,Z=3.055,P=0.002;APACHE II vs.qSOFA,0.863 vs.0.767,Z=3.017,P=0.003;SOFA vs.CURB-65,0.856 vs.0.744,Z=2.589,P=0.010;SOFA vs.qSOFA,0.856 vs.0.767,Z=2.170,P=0.030).The cut-off values we defined for the SOFA,APACHE II,and qSOFA scores were 4,14,and 1.Conclusions:These results suggest that the APACHE II and SOFA scores determined during the initial 24 h after HAP diagnosis may be useful for the prediction of 30-day mortality in HAP patients in non-surgical departments.The qSOFA score may be a simple tool that can be used to quickly identify severe infections. | Jia-Ning Wen Nan Li Chen-Xia Guo Ning Shen Bei He | 2020 | Chinese Medical Journal2020,,24: | 7 |

| 6 | Chevrier's Field Mouse(Apodemus chevrieri) and Père David's Vole(Eothenomys melanogaster) in China Carry Orthohepeviruses that form Two Putative Novel Genotypes Within the Species Orthohepevirus C显示文摘Hepatitis E virus(HEV)is the prototype of the family Hepeviridae and the causative agent of common acute viral hepatitis.Genetically diverse HEV-related viruses have been detected in a variety of mammals and some of them may have zoonotic potential.In this study,we tested 278 specimens collected from seven wild small mammal species in Yunnan province,China,for the presence and prevalence of orthohepevirus by broad-spectrum reverse transcription(RT)-PCR.HEV-related sequences were detected in two rodent species,including Chevrier’s field mouse(Apodemus chevrieri,family Muridae)and Père David’s vole(Eothenomys melanogaster,family Cricetidae),with the infection rates of 29.20%(59/202)and 7.27%(4/55),respectively.Further four representative full-length genomes were generated:two each from Chevrier’s field mouse(named Rd HEVAc14 and Rd HEVAc86)and Père David’s vole(Rd HEVEm40 and Rd HEVEm67).Phylogenetic analyses and pairwise distance comparisons of whole genome sequences and amino acid sequences of the gene coding regions showed that orthohepeviruses identified in Chinese Chevrier’s field mouse and Père David’s vole belonged to the species Orthohepevirus C but were highly divergent from the two assigned genotypes:HEV-C1 derived from rat and shrew,and HEV-C2 derived from ferret and possibly mink.Quantitative real-time RT-PCR demonstrated that these newly discovered orthohepeviruses had hepatic tropism.In summary,our work discovered two putative novel genotypes orthohepeviruses preliminarily named HEVC3 and HEV-C4 within the species Orthohepevirus C,which expands our understanding of orthohepevirus infection in the order Rodentia and gives new insights into the origin,evolution,and host range of orthohepevirus. | Bo Wang Wen Li Ji-Hua Zhou Bei Li Wei Zhang Wei-Hong Yang Hong Pan Li-Xia Wang Thomas Bock Zheng-Li Shi Yun-Zhi Zhang Xing-Lou Yang | 2018 | Virologica Sinica2018,33,1: | 6 |

| 12 | Influence of organic amendments on the sorption of pentachlorophenol on soils显示文摘The influence of pH on the sorption of pentachlorophenol (PCP) onto three organic amendments, char, humic acid (HA) and peat, and the effect of organic amendments on PCP sorption to three kinds of soils were evaluated. The sorption of PCP on these sorbents fitted the Freundlich model well, suggesting that PCP sorption isotherms were nonlinear with exponential coefficient (N) value lower than 1. The PCP sorption capacity on three organic amendments and the N values increased with decreasing pH. The sorption capacities were in the order: char > HA > peat. Organic amendments resulted in an enhancement of sorption capacities of soils. The N values of PCP sorption on soils were decreased by char amendment and increased by HA and peat amendments. This study demonstrated that application of traditional organic amendments led to the enhancement of PCP sorption by soils. | 15 | Selected dark sides of biomass-derived biochars as environmental amendments显示文摘With the rapid increase in the application of biochars as amendments, studies are needed to clarify the possible environmental risks derived from biochars to use safely the biomass resources. This work reported selected dark sides of maize straw-and swine manurederived biochars pyrolyzed at 300 and 500°C. During the pyrolysis processes, total heavy metals in the biochars were enriched greatly accompanying with considerable emission of the heavy metals into atmosphere and the trends became increasingly obvious with pyrolysis temperature. Meanwhile, the biochars showed distinctly decreased available heavy metals compared with raw feedstocks, which could be mainly attributed to the sorption by the inorganics in the biochars. The water-and acid-washing treatments significantly increased the releasing risks of heavy metals from biochars into the environments. Electron paramagnetic resonance analysis indicated that persistent free radicals, emerged strongly in the biochars as a function of the aromatization of biomass feedstocks, were free from the influence of water-, acid-, or organic-washing of the biochars and could remain stable even after aged in soils for 30 days. | 16 | Analysis of mechanisms of Shenhuang Granule in treating severe COVID-19 based on network pharmacology and molecular docking显示文摘Objective:Severe cases of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)are expected to have a worse prognosis than mild cases.Shenhuang Granule(SHG)has been shown to be a safe and effective treatment for severe COVID-19 in a previous randomized clinical trial,but the active chemical constituents and underlying mechanisms of action remain unknown.The goal of this study is to explore the chemical basis and mechanisms of SHG in the treatment of severe COVID-19,using network pharmacology.Methods:Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry was employed to screen chemical constituents of SHG.Putative therapeutic targets were predicted by searching traditional Chinese medicine system pharmacology database and analysis platform,Swiss Target Prediction,and Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO)databases.The target protein–protein interaction network and enrichment analysis were performed to investigate the hub genes and presumptive mechanisms.Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations were used to verify the stability and interaction between the key chemical constituents of SHG and COVID-19 protein targets.Results:Forty-five chemical constituents of SHG were identified along with 131 corresponding therapeutic targets,including hub genes such as HSP90AA1,MMP9,CXCL8,PTGS2,IFNG,DNMT1,TYMS,MDM2,HDAC3 and ABCB1.Functional enrichment analysis indicated that SHG mainly acted on the neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction,calcium signaling pathway and c AMP signaling pathway.Molecular docking showed that the key constituents had a good affinity with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 protein targets.Molecular dynamics simulations indicated that ginsenoside Rg4 formed a stable protein-ligand complex with helicase.Conclusion:Multiple components of SHG regulated multiple targets to inhibit virus invasion and cytokine storm through several signaling pathways;this provides a scientific basis for clinical applications and further experiments. | Xiang-ru Xu Wen Zhang Xin-xin Wu Hong-qiang Yang Yu-ting Sun Yu-ting Pu Bei Wang Wei Peng Li-hua Sun Quan Guo Shuang Zhou Bang-jiang Fang | 2022 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2022,20,6: | 2 |
