1A pan-cancer blueprint of the heterogeneous tumor microenvironment revealed by single-cell profiling显示文摘The stromal compartment of the tumor microenvironment consists of a heterogeneous set of tissue-resident and tumor-infiltrating cells,which are profoundly moulded by cancer cells.An outstanding question is to what extent this heterogeneity is similar between cancers affecting different organs.Here,we profile 233,591 single cells from patients with lung,colorectal,ovary and breast cancer(n=36)and construct a pan-cancer blueprint of stromal cell heterogeneity using different single-cell RNA and protein-based technologies.We identify 68 stromal cell populations,of which 46 are shared between cancer types and 22 are unique.We also characterise each population phenotypically by highlighting its marker genes,transcription factors,metabolic activities and tissue-specific expression differences.Resident cell types are characterised by substantial tissue specificity,while tumor-infiltrating cell types are largely shared across cancer types.Finally,by applying the blueprint to melanoma tumors treated with checkpoint immunotherapy and identifying a naive CD4+T-cell phenotype predictive of response to checkpoint immunotherapy,we illustrate how it can serve as a guide to interpret scRNA-seq data.In conclusion,by providing a comprehensive blueprint through an interactive web server,we generate the first panoramic view on the shared complexity of stromal cells in different cancers.Junbin Qian Siel Olbrecht Bram Boeckx Hanne Vos Damya Laoui Emre Etlioglu Els Wauters Valentina Pomella Sara Verbandt Pieter Busschaert Ayse Bassez Amelie Franken Marlies Vanden Bempt Jieyi Xiong Birgit Weynand Yannick van Herck Asier Antoranz Francesca Maria Bosisio Bernard Thienpont Giuseppe Floris Ignace Vergote Ann Smeets Sabine Tejpar Diether Lambrechts 2020Cell Research2020,30,9:11

10Inter-specific and intra-specific variability in fruit color preference in two species of Turdus显示文摘One of the main hypotheses proposed to explain the evolution of fruit color deals with a preference of avian frugivores for specific colors,mainly black and red,which are the most common fruit colors in many of the studied habitats.I analyzed fruit color preferences by wild birds belonging to 2 species of the highly frugivorous genus Turdus(Eurasian Blackbird Turdus merula Linnaeus,1758 and Redwing Turdus iliacus Linnaeus,1758)by means of captivity experiments with artificial fruits.Despite important within-individual(i.e.temporal)and among-individual variability,consistent patterns of species-specific color preferences emerged.Eurasian Blackbirds tended to prefer red over blue,green and black,whereas Redwings seemed to prefer black over the rest.Green was systematically avoided by both species,suggesting that it might signal unripeness of fruits.Both preferred colors have been previously reported as the most common among fleshy-fruited plants.The high variability,both within and between individuals,in preferences suggests that they can be subject to changes through experience and learning and,therefore,are not likely to drive the evolution of fruit color.The main differences between both species could be related to the most common fruit color they fed upon during the last months before capture.Asier R.LARRINAGA 2011Integrative Zoology2011,6,3:1

14Limiting Factors for Active Suppression of Structural Chatter Vibrations Using Machine′s Drives显示文摘Chatter vibrations are a major limitation for rough milling operations,leading to productivity reduction,low tool life and poor surface finish.It has been shown recently that the machine tool′s own drives can be used to increase the stability limit related to structural modes of the machine.To damp the low frequency modes,a new feedback loop is added to the classical position,velocity and current cascaded control.The objective of this study is to analyse the limitations of this new chatter suppression technique.Constraints related to the non-collocated control are first studied on a simplified three-mass model and then experimentally demonstrated on a three-axis horizontal milling centre.The industrial integration of the new control loop with sampling time constraints and limited drive′s bandwidth is analysed.After determining the appropriate conditions to use this chatter suppression technique,a cutting test demonstrates that the stability limit can be doubled in the low regions of the stability lobes.Xavier Beudaert Asier Barrios Kaan Erkorkmaz Jokin Munoa 2017Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2017,34,4:1

16A multi-crossover and adaptive island based population algorithm for solving routing problems显示文摘We propose a multi-crossover and adaptive island based population algorithm(MAIPA).This technique divides the entire population into subpopulations,or demes,each with a different crossover function,which can be switched according to the efficiency.In addition,MAIPA reverses the philosophy of conventional genetic algorithms.It gives priority to the autonomous improvement of the individuals(at the mutation phase),and introduces dynamism in the crossover probability.Each subpopulation begins with a very low value of crossover probability,and then varies with the change of the current generation number and the search performance on recent generations.This mechanism helps prevent premature convergence.In this research,the effectiveness of this technique is tested using three well-known routing problems,i.e.,the traveling salesman problem(TSP),capacitated vehicle routing problem(CVRP),and vehicle routing problem with backhauls(VRPB).MAIPA proves to be better than a traditional island based genetic algorithm for all these three problems.Eneko OSABA Enrique ONIEVA Roberto CARBALLEDO Fernando DIAZ Asier PERALLOS Xiao ZHANG 2013Journal of Zhejiang University-Science C(Computers and Electronics)2013,14,11:1
17Association of accelerometer-derived step volume and intensity with hospitalizations and mortality in older adults:A prospective cohort study显示文摘Purpose:This study aimed to examine the associations of accelerometer-derived steps volume and intensity with hospitalizations and all-cause mortality in older adults.Methods:This prospective cohort study involved 768 community-dwelling Spanish older adults(78.8±4.9 years,mean±SD;53.9% females)from the Toledo Study for Healthy Aging(2012-2017).The number of steps per day and step cadence(steps/min) were derived from a hip-mounted accelerometer worn for at least 4 days at baseline.Participants were followed-up over a mean period of 3.1 years for hospitalization and 5.7 years for all-cause mortality.Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to estimate the individual and joint associations between daily steps and stepping intensity with hospitalizations and all-cause mortality.Results:Included participants walked 5835± 3445 steps/day with an intensity of 7.3± 4.1 steps/min.After adjusting for age,sex,body mass index(BMI),education,income,marital status and comorbidities,higher step count(hazard ratio(HR)=0.95,95% confidence interval(95%CI:0.90-1.00,and HR=0.87,95%CI:0.81-0.95 per additional 1000 steps) and higher step intensity(HR=0.95,95%CI:0.91-0.99,and HR=0.89,95%CI:0.84-0.95 per each additional step/min) were associated with fewer hospitalizations and all-cause mortality risk,respectively.Compared to the group having low step volume and intensity,individuals in the group having high step volume and intensity had a lower risk of hospitalization(HR=0.72,95%CI:0.52-0.98) and all-cause mortality(HR=0.60,95%CI:0.37-0.98).Conclusion:Among older adults,both high step volume and step intensity were significantly associated with lower hospitalization and all-cause mortality risk.Increasing step volume and intensity may benefit older people.Asier Manas Borja del Pozo Cruz Ulf Ekelund JoséLosa Reyna Irene Rodríguez Gómez JoséAntonio Carnicero Carreno Leocadio Rodríguez Manas Francisco J.García García Ignacio Ara 2022Journal of Sport and Health Science2022,11,5:1

20Task Offloading in Edge Computing Using GNNs and DQN显示文摘In a network environment composed of different types of computing centers that can be divided into different layers(clod,edge layer,and others),the interconnection between them offers the possibility of peer-to-peer task offloading.For many resource-constrained devices,the computation of many types of tasks is not feasible because they cannot support such computations as they do not have enough available memory and processing capacity.In this scenario,it is worth considering transferring these tasks to resource-rich platforms,such as Edge Data Centers or remote cloud servers.For different reasons,it is more exciting and appropriate to download various tasks to specific download destinations depending on the properties and state of the environment and the nature of the functions.At the same time,establishing an optimal offloading policy,which ensures that all tasks are executed within the required latency and avoids excessive workload on specific computing centers is not easy.This study presents two alternatives to solve the offloading decision paradigm by introducing two well-known algorithms,Graph Neural Networks(GNN)and Deep Q-Network(DQN).It applies the alternatives on a well-known Edge Computing simulator called PureEdgeSimand compares them with the two defaultmethods,Trade-Off and Round Robin.Experiments showed that variants offer a slight improvement in task success rate and workload distribution.In terms of energy efficiency,they provided similar results.Finally,the success rates of different computing centers are tested,and the lack of capacity of remote cloud servers to respond to applications in real-time is demonstrated.These novel ways of finding a download strategy in a local networking environment are unique as they emulate the state and structure of the environment innovatively,considering the quality of its connections and constant updates.The download score defined in this research is a crucial feature for determining the quality of a download path in the GNN training process and has not previously been proposed.Simultaneously,the suitability of Reinforcement Learning(RL)techniques is demonstrated due to the dynamism of the network environment,considering all the key factors that affect the decision to offload a given task,including the actual state of all devices.Asier Garmendia-Orbegozo Jose David Nunez-Gonzalez Miguel Angel Anton 2024Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2024,139,6:0
