| 6 | Study on DNA Cytosine Methylation of Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) | 7 | Differential Gene Expression Between Hybrids and Their Parents During the Four Crucial Stages of Cotton Growth and Development显示文摘The study aims to clarify the differential gene expression between cotton hybrids and their parents in order to better understand the molecular basis of cotton heterosis. The research focused on cotton heterotic and lower heterotic hybrids and their parents during the four crucial stages, which were analyzed using a differential display technique. The results indicated that there were both quantitative and qualitative differences in gene expression amongst them. The quantitative differences include over- and under-expression of parental genes and the dominant expression of highly-expressed parental genes in hybrids. In contrast, the qualitative differences are the following: (i) Bands were observed in both parents but not in the F1 hybrid (BPnF1); (ii) bands occurred in either of the parents but not in the F1 hybrid (UPnF1); (iii) bands presented only in the F1 hybrid but not in either of the parents (UF1nP); and (iv) bands were detected in either of the parents and the F1 hybrid (UPF1). Overall, the major differences of gene expression occurred in the qualitative level and four related differential patterns were observed. Furthermore, the amount of differential patterns during the flowering stage was relatively higher than those of other stages. At this juncture, both the amount of hybrid-specific expression patterns at flowering stage and the silenced expression patterns at boll-forming stage in highly heterotic hybrids were found higher than those in the lower heterotic ones. It was concluded that significant differences of gene expression in leaves were present between cotton hybrid and its parents during the whole growing stages. | 8 | Understanding pitting corrosion behavior of AZ91 alloy and its MAO coating in 3.5%NaCl solution by cyclic potentiodynamic polarization显示文摘The pitting corrosion behavior of AZ91 alloy before and after micro-oxidation treatment in 3.5%Na Cl solution was investigated by cyclic potentiodynamic polarization(CPDP)and optical and SEM observations of corroded surfaces at different polarization potentials.The CPDP results show that both the alloy and the MAO-coated alloy suffer from pitting corrosion and it is difficult for pits to stop growth once the pits initiates.It is revealed that the air-formed Mg O film on AZ91 alloy,the MAO coating along with corrosion products(mainly Mg(OH))formed during CPDP can significantly influence the kinetics of the redox reactions of Mg,and further influence the propagation behavior of pitting corrosion.The optical and SEM images show that the corrosion products on AZ91 alloy are dense and protective but on the MAO-coated corrosion products are very loose.Such observations support the analyses of CPDP results that pits on AZ91 alloy spread to the width whereas pits on MAO-coated alloy propagate to the depth.Overall,pitting corrosion on the MAO-coated alloy can be very severe once the coating ruptures and post-treatments are necessary to provide a promising corrosion protection for the Mg alloys. | Yuxiang Liu Zhu Liu Anyang Xu Xiaoting Liu | 2022 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2022,10,5: | 3 |
| 9 | Gallbladder lymphangioma:A case report and review of the literature显示文摘Lymphangiomas are rare, benign tumors of the lymphatic system, usually present in children aged 5 years and younger. Because they are asymptomatic until the mass enlarges to cause symptoms, most lymphangiomas are diagnosed at adulthood incidentally. We experienced a case of a 60-year-old man diagnosed with a cystic lymphangioma of the gallbladder, which was successfully resected without any complication. Magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography were very helpful for the diagnosis of the cystic lesion around the gallbladder as were ultrasonography and computed tomography scan. These showed a multi-lobulated cystic mass with intact cystic duct and bile duct in the gallbladder fossa. The patient underwent an open cholecystectomy and the histological findings were consistent with a cystic lymphangioma of the gallbladder. | 15 | Three Gorges Dam Controls Sediment Coarsening of the Mud Patch on the Inner East China Sea Shelf显示文摘The well-known Three Gorges Dam(TGD) within the Yangtze catchment launched its operation in 2003. The effect of the TGD operation on the sediment size on the East China Sea shelf is rarely known. High resolution(0.5 cm sampling) grain size analysis and 137 Cs and 210 Pb dating of the DH8-1 core were conducted with core collected from the distal part of a main sink for the modern Yangtze sediment entering the sea, the Min-Zhe Coastal Mud Deposits(MZCMD) on the inner East China Sea shelf. The 137 Cs dating results show that the core DH8-1 formed during 1946–2012 with a mean deposition rate of 0.65 cm yr^(-1), indicating that the 0.5 cm sampling for grain size analysis in this local area could reflect environmental changes generally on a one-year time scale. The mean grain size of DH8-1 core sediment that deposited after 2003 is significantly larger than that deposited during 1988–2002. After ruling out other possible factors, we infer that the sediment coarsening of DH8-1 core after 2003 is attributed to the TGD operation which causes the erosion of the Yangtze subaqueous delta. Specifically, the TGD operation significantly intensifies the declining trend of the Yangtze sediment loads to the sea despite no decreased water discharge, which results in extensive erosion of the Yangtze subaqueous delta. The relatively coarse sediment of the subaqueous delta is eroded and resuspended by ocean dynamics and then transported by coastal current, finally depositing on the MZCMD area. In addition, the general sediment fining of core DH8-1 that deposited during 1988–2002, comparing with 1946–1987, is mainly caused by dam construction and soil and water conservation within the Yangtze catchment. However, those studies seldom involve the computation for large physical parameters such as the electrical Hartmann number and the magnitude parameter for the strength of the nonlinearity due to the existence of strong nonlinearity in these extreme cases. To overcome this faultiness, the newly-developed homotopy Coiflets wavelet method is extended to solve this EHD flow problem with strong nonlinearity. The validity and reliability of the proposed technique are verified. | 19 | Complete Genome Sequences of the SARS-CoV: the BJ Group (Isolates BJ01-BJ04)显示文摘Beijing has been one of the epicenters attacked most severely by the SARS-CoV (severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus) since the first patient was diagnosed in one of the city's hospitals. We now report complete genome sequences of the BJ Group, including four isolates (Isolates B J01, B J02, B J03,and B J04) of the SARS-CoV. It is remarkable that all members of the BJ Group share a common haplotype, consisting of seven loci that differentiate the group from other isolates published to date. Among 42 substitutions uniquely identifled from the BJ group, 32 are non-synonymous changes at the amino acid level.Rooted phylogenetic trees, proposed on the basis of haplotypes and other sequence variations of SARS-CoV isolates from Canada, USA, Singapore, and China, gave rise to different paradigms but positioned the BJ Group, together with the newly discovered GD01 (GD-Ins29) in the same clade, followed by the H-U Group (from Hong Kong to USA) and the H-T Group (from Hong Kong to Toronto), leaving the SP Group (Singapore) more distant. | 20 | Experimental Precision and Variety Comparison Precision in Regional Crop Trials显示文摘According to the basic concepts of precision and the principles of analysis of variance (ANOVA), precision types for experiments and variety comparison in regional crop trials (RCT) were studied and developed; expected variety comparison precision (EVCP) and realized variety comparison precision (RVCP) and the corresponding statistical indexes of them were proposed. It was explained that experimental precision (EP) and variety comparison precision (VCP) are two kinds of precision of RCT; EP includes error precision and variety mean precision, which can be measured respectively by the coefficient of variation of single observation's error (CVe) and the coefficient of variation of variety mean's error (CVY); VCP includes EVCP and RVCP, which can be measured respectively by the detectable least relative difference (DLRD) and the relative least significant distance (RLSD); EP is an important factor of VCP but not identical to it; RVCP is the realization of EVCP. Besides error, experimental design and GE interaction and ANOVA model affect VCP.
