16种草本植物对干旱胁迫和CO_2浓度升高交互作用的生长响应显示文摘以CO2浓度升高为主要标志的全球气候变化及由其引起的极端气候变化对陆地生态系统产生了重要的影响。利用步入式CO2生长室模拟研究了CO2浓度变化(400和700μL/L)和干旱胁迫(水分充足CK:100%FC(田间持水量);中度干旱MS:40%FC;重度干旱SS:20%FC)的交互作用对草本植物网果酸模(Rumex chalepensis)、野豌豆(Vicia sepium)、泥胡菜(Hemmistepta lyrata)、风轮菜(Clinopodium chinense)、藜(Chenopodium album)和玉米石(Sedum album)生长特性的影响。结果表明:CO2浓度升高总体上刺激了网果酸模、野豌豆、泥胡菜、风轮菜和藜这5种C3植物在任何水分条件下的生长,也刺激了玉米石在水分条件较好下的生长;干旱胁迫总体上抑制了所有6种植物的生长,但中度干旱胁迫有刺激CAM植物玉米石生长的趋势。CO2浓度升高能否缓解干旱的负面影响具有明显的种间差异:CO2浓度升高减缓了干旱胁迫对泥胡菜和风轮菜的负面影响,这种缓解作用在网果酸模和野豌豆中显著降低,对藜没有明显的促进作用,对干旱下的玉米石的生长却起到了抑制作用。CO2浓度升高总体上增加了根质量分数和干物质含量;干旱胁迫明显提高了6种草本植物的根生物量的分配比例,降低了干物质含量;但CO2浓度升高和干旱胁迫的交互作用可导致不同的物种产生不同的响应,说明植物能够通过调节生物量分配和植株本身的水分含量保持能力来适应CO2浓度和干旱胁迫的交互影响,这种调节能力取决于植物在碳的吸收和水分散失之间的平衡'trade-off'。研究结果有助于增进草本植物对未来气候变化的适应性理解,为评估和预测全球气候和水文变化对植物的生理生态影响提供理论依据。高凯敏 刘锦春 梁千慧 Andries A.Temme Johannes H.C.Cornelissen 2015生态学报2015,35,18:17
2A Weakly Supervised Deep Learning Framework for Sorghum Head Detection and Counting显示文摘The yield of cereal crops such as sorghum(Sorghum bicolor L.Moench)depends on the distribution of crop-heads in varying branching arrangements.Therefore,counting the head number per unit area is critical for plant breeders to correlate with the genotypic variation in a specific breeding field.However,measuring such phenotypic traitsmanually is an extremely labor-intensive process and suffers from low efficiency and human errors.Moreover,the process is almost infeasible for large-scale breeding plantations or experiments.Machine learning-based approaches like deep convolutional neural network(CNN)based object detectors are promising tools for efficient object detection and counting.However,a significant limitation of such deep learningbased approaches is that they typically require a massive amount of hand-labeled images for training,which is still a tedious process.Here,we propose an active learning inspired weakly supervised deep learning framework for sorghum head detection and counting from UAV-based images.We demonstrate that it is possible to significantly reduce human labeling effort without compromising final model performance(��2 between human count and machine count is 0.88)by using a semitrained CNN model(i.e.,trained with limited labeled data)to perform synthetic annotation.In addition,we also visualize key features that the network learns.This improves trustworthiness by enabling users to better understand and trust the decisions that the trained deep learning model makes.Sambuddha Ghosal Bangyou Zheng Scott CChapman Andries BPotgieter David RJordan Xuemin Wang Asheesh KSingh Arti Singh Masayuki Hirafuji Seishi Ninomiya Baskar Ganapathysubramanian Soumik Sarkar Wei Guo 2019Plant Phenomics2019,1,1:16
3Quenching of the red Mn^(4+) luminescence in Mn^(4+)-doped fluoride LED phosphors显示文摘Red-emitting Mn^(4+)-doped fluorides are a promising class of materials to improve the color rendering and luminous efficacy of white light-emitting diodes(w-LEDs).For w-LEDs,the luminescence quenching temperature is very important,but surprisingly no systematic research has been conducted to understand the mechanism for thermal quenching in Mn^(4+)-doped fluorides.Furthermore,concentration quenching of the Mn^(4+) luminescence can be an issue but detailed investigations are lacking.In this work,we study thermal quenching and concentration quenching in Mn^(4+)-doped fluorides by measuring luminescence spectra and decay curves of K2TiF6:Mn^(4+) between 4 and 600 K and for Mn^(4+) concentrations from 0.01%to 15.7%.Temperature-dependent measurements on K2TiF6:Mn^(4+) and other Mn^(4+)-doped phosphors show that quenching occurs through thermally activated crossover between the ^(4)T_(2) excited state and ^(4)A_(2) ground state.The quenching temperature can be optimized by designing host lattices in which Mn^(4+) has a high 4T2 state energy.Concentration-dependent studies reveal that concentration quenching effects are limited in K_(2)TiF_(6):Mn^(4+)up to 5%Mn^(4+).This is important,as high Mn^(4+)concentrations are required for sufficient absorption of blue LED light in the parity-forbidden Mn^(4+)d–d transitions.At even higher Mn^(4+) concentrations(>10%),the quantum efficiency decreases,mostly due to direct energy transfer to quenching sites(defects and impurity ions).Optimization of the synthesis to reduce quenchers is crucial for developing more efficient highly absorbing Mn^(4+) phosphors.The present systematic study provides detailed insights into temperature and concentration quenching of Mn^(4+) emission and can be used to realize superior narrow-band red Mn^(4+) phosphors for w-LEDs.Tim Senden Relinde J.A.van Dijk-Moes Andries Meijerink 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:13
4Effects of live yeast on differential genetic and functional attributes of rumen microbiota in beef cattle显示文摘Several studies have evaluated the effects of live yeast supplementation on rumen microbial population;however,its effect on differential microbial genes and their functional potential has not been described. Thus, this study applied shotgun metagenomic sequencing to evaluate the effects of live yeast supplementation on genetic and functional potential of the rumen microbiota in beef cattle. Eight rumen-cannulated Holstein steers were randomly assigned to two treatments in a cross-over design with two 25-day experimental periods and a 10-day wash-out between the two periods. The steers were housed in individual pens and fed 50% concentrate-mix and 50% red clover/orchard hay ad libitum. Treatments were(1) control(CON;basal diet without additive) and(2) yeast(YEA;basal diet plus 15 g/d of live yeast product). Rumen fluid samples were collected at 3, 6, and 9 h after feeding on the last d of each period. Sequencing was done on an Illumina Hi Seq 2500 platform. Dietary yeast supplementation increased the relative abundance of carbohydrate-fermenting bacteria(such as Ruminococcus albus, R.champanellensis, R. bromii, and R. obeum) and lactate-utilizing bacteria(such as Megasphaera elsdenii, Desulfovibrio desulfuricans, and D. vulgaris). A total of 154 differentially abundant genes(DEGs) were obtained(false discovery rate < 0.01). Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) annotation analysis of the DEGs revealed that 10 pathways, including amino sugar and nucleotide sugar metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation, lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis, pantothenate and coenzyme A biosynthesis, glutathione metabolism, beta-alanine metabolism,polyketide sugar unit biosynthesis, protein export, ribosome, and bacterial secretory system, were enriched in steers fed YEA. Annotation analysis of the DEGs in the carbohydrate-active enzymes(CAZy) database revealed that the abundance of genes coding for enzymes belonging to glycoside hydrolases, glycosyltransferases, and carbohydrate binding modules were enriched in steers fed YEA. 6Cardiac and non-cardiac causes of T-wave inversion in the precordial leads in adult subjects: A Dutch case series and review of the literature显示文摘AIM: To describe the electrocardiographic(ECG) phenomena characterized by T-wave inversion in the precordial leads in adults and to highlight its differential diagnosis. METHODS: A retrospective chart review of 8 adult patients who were admitted with ECG T-wave inversion in the anterior chest leads with or without prolongation of corrected QT(QTc) interval. They had different clinical conditions. Each patient underwent appropriate clinical assessment including investigation for myocardial involvement. Single and multimodality noninvasive, semi-invasive and invasive diagnostic approach were used to ascertain the diagnosis. The diagnostic assessment included biochemical investigation, cardiac and abdominal ultrasound, cerebral and chest computed tomography, nuclear medicine and coronary angiography.RESULTS: Eight adult subjects(5 females) with a mean age of 66 years(range 51 to 82) are analyzed. The etiology of T-wave inversion in the precordial leads were diverse. On admission, all patients had normal blood pressure and the ECG showed sinus rhythm. Five patients showed marked prolongation of the QTc interval. The longest QTc interval(639 ms) was found in the patient with pheochromocytoma. Giant T-wave inversion(≥ 10 mm) was found in pheochromocytoma followed by electroconvulsive therapy and finally ischemic heart disease. The deepest T-wave was measured in lead V3(5 ×). In 3 patients presented with mild T-wave inversion(patients 1, 5 and 4 mm), the QTc interval was not prolonged(432, 409 and 424 msec), respectively.CONCLUSION: T-wave inversion associated with or without QTc prolongation requires meticulous history taking, physical examination and tailored diagnostic modalities to reach rapid and correct diagnosis to establish appropriate therapeutic intervention.Salah AM Said Rene Bloo Ramon de Nooijer Andries Slootweg 2015World Journal of Cardiology2015,7,2:7
7Elevated skin autofluorescence is strongly associated with foot ulcers in patients with diabetes: a cross-sectional, observational study of Chinese subjects显示文摘Objective: This study was designed to evaluate the association between skin autofluorescence (AF), an indicator of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), and foot ulcers in subjects with diabetes. Methods: In this study, 195 Chinese diabetic subjects were examined. Their feet were examined regardless of whether an ulcer was present or not. Skin AF was measured with an AGE reader. Demographic characteristics and blood data were recorded. Results: The mean values of skin AF were 2.29±0.47 for subjects without foot ulcers, and 2.80±0.69 for those with foot ulcers, a significant difference (P<0.05). Skin AF was strongly correlated with age and duration of diabetes. After adjusting for these factors, multivariate logistic regression showed that skin AF was independently associated with foot ulcerations. Conclusions: Skin AF is independently associated with diabetic foot ulcerations. 11One ion to catch them all: Targeted high-precision Boltzmann thermometry over a wide temperature range with Gd^(3+)显示文摘Ratiometric luminescence thermometry with trivalent lanthanide ions and their 4f^(n) energy levels is an emerging technique for non-invasive remote temperature sensing with high spatial and temporal resolution.Conventional ratiometric luminescence thermometry often relies on thermal coupling between two closely lying energy levels governed by Boltzmann’s law.Despite its simplicity,Boltzmann thermometry with two excited levels allows precise temperature sensing,but only within a limited temperature range.While low temperatures slow down the nonradiative transitions required to generate a measurable population in the higher excitation level,temperatures that are too high favour equalized populations of the two excited levels,at the expense of low relative thermal sensitivity.In this work,we extend the concept of Boltzmann thermometry to more than two excited levels and provide quantitative guidelines that link the choice of energy gaps between multiple excited states to the performance in different temperature windows.By this approach,it is possible to retain the high relative sensitivity and precision of the temperature measurement over a wide temperature range within the same system.We demonstrate this concept using YAl_(3)(BO_(3))_(4)(YAB):Pr^(3+),Gd^(3+)with an excited 6 PJ crystal field and spin-orbit split levels of Gd^(3+)in the UV range to avoid a thermal black body background even at the highest temperatures.This phosphor is easily excitable with inexpensive and powerful blue LEDs at 450 nm.Zero-background luminescence thermometry is realized by using blue-to-UV energy transfer upconversion with the Pr^(3+)−Gd^(3+)couple upon excitation in the visible range.This method allows us to cover a temperature window between 30 and 800 K.Dechao Yu Huaiyong Li Dawei Zhang Qinyuan Zhang Andries Meijerink Markus Suta 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,12:4
12Hepatitis B virus subgenotypes and basal core promoter mutations in Indonesia显示文摘AIM:To identify the distribution of hepatitis B virus (HBV) subgenotype and basal core promoter (BCP) mutations among patients with HBV-associated liver disease in Indonesia.METHODS: Patients with chronic hepatitis (CH, n=61), liver cirrhosis (LC, n=62), and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC,n=48) were included in this study. HBV subgenotype was identified based on S or preS gene sequence, and mutations in the HBx gene including the overlapping BCP region were examined by direct sequencing.RESULTS: HBV genotype B (subgenotypes B2, B3, B4, B5 and B7) the major genotype in the samples, accounted for 75.4%, 71.0% and 75.0% of CH, LC and HCC patients, respectively, while the genotype C (subgenotypes C1, C2 and C3) was detected in 24.6%, 29.0%, and 25.0% of CH, LC, and HCC patients, respectively. Subgenotypes B3 (84.9%) and C1 (82.2%) were the main subgenotype in HBV genotype B and C, respectively. Serotype adw2 (84.9%) and adrq+ (89.4%) were the most prevalent in HBV genotype B and C, respectively. Double mutation (A1762T/G1764A) in the BCP was significantly higher in LC (59.7%) and HCC (54.2%) than in CH (19.7%), suggesting that this mutation was associated with severity of liver disease. The T1753V was also higher in LC (46.8%), but lower in HCC (22.9%) and CH (18.0%), suggesting that this mutation may be an indicator of cirrhosis.CONCLUSION: HBV genotype B/B3 and C/C1 are the major genotypes in Indonesia. 15Coronary artery disease in congenital single coronary artery in adults:A Dutch case series显示文摘AIM:To assess the current diagnostic and therapeutic management and the clinical implications of congenital single coronary artery(SCA) in adults.METHODS:We identified 15 patients with a SCA detected from four Dutch angiography centers in the period between 2010 and 2013.Symptomatic patients who underwent routine diagnostic coronary angiography(CAG) for suspected coronary artery disease and who incidentally were found to have isolated SCA were analyzed.RESULTS:Fifteen(7 females) with a mean age of 58.5 ± 13.78 years(range 43-86) had a SCA.ConventionalCAG demonstrated congenital isolated SCA originating as a single ostium from the right sinus of Valsalva in 6 patients and originating from the left in 9 patients.Minimal to moderate coronary atherosclerotic changes were found in 4,and severe stenotic lesions in another 4 patients.Seven patients were free of coronary atherosclerosis.Runs of non-sustained ventricular tachycardia were documented in 2 patients,one of whom demonstrated transmural ischemic changes on presentation.Myocardial perfusion scintigraphic evidence of transmural myocardial ischemia was found in 1 patient due to kinking and squeezing of the SCA with an interarterial course between the aorta and pulmonary artery.Multi-slice computed tomography(MSCT) was helpful to delineate the course of the anomalous artery relative to the aorta and pulmonary artery.Percutaneous coronary intervention was successfully performed in 3 patients.Eight patients were managed medically.Arterial bypass graft was performed in 4 patients with the squeezed SCA.CONCLUSION:SCA may be associated with transient transmural myocardial ischemia and aborted sudden death in the absence of coronary atherosclerosis.The availability and sophistication of MSCT facilitates the delineation of the course of a SCA.We present a Dutch case series and review of the literature.Salah AM Said Willem G de Voogt Suat Bulut Jacques Han Peter Polak Rogier LG Nijhuis Jeroen W op den Akker Andries Slootweg 2014World Journal of Cardiology2014,6,4:3
