| 1 | Lamivudine treatment enabling right hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma in decompensated cirrhosis显示文摘A 69-year-old man was admitted to our hospital in October 2003,for further examination of two liver tumors.He was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) arising from decompensated hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related cirrhosis.Long-term lamivudine administration improved liver function dramatically despite repeated treatment for HCC.His Child-Pugh score was 9 points at start of lamivudine treatment,improving to 5 points after 1 year.His indocyanine green at 15 min after injection test score was 48%before lamivudine treat-ment,improving to 22%after 2 years and to 5%after 4 years.Radiofrequency ablation controlled the HCC foci and maintained his liver function.In April 2009,abdominal computed tomography revealed a tumor thrombus in the right portal vein.Since his indocyanine green test results had improved to less than 10%,we performed a right hepatectomy,which was successful.To our knowledge,there have been no documented reports of patients undergoing successful right hepatectomy for HCC arising from decompensated cirrhosis.The findings observed in our patient indicate the importance of nucleoside analogs for treating HBV-related HCC. | Koichi Honda Masataka Seike Shin-ichiro Maehara Koichiro Tahara Hideaki Anai Akira Moriuchi Toyokichi Muro | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，20： | 7 |
| 2 | Aging and menopause reprogram osteoclast precursors for aggressive bone resorption显示文摘Women gradually lose bone from the age of〜35 years,but around menopause,the rate of bone loss escalates due to increasing bone resorption and decreasing bone formation levels,rendering these individuals more prone to developing osteoporosis.The increased osteoclast activity has been linked to a reduced estrogen level and other hormonal changes.However,it is unclear whether intrinsic changes in osteoclast precursors around menopause can also explain the increased osteoclast activity.Therefore,we set up a protocol in which CD14f blood monocytes were isolated from 49 female donors(40-66 years old).Cells were differentiated into osteoclasts,and data on differentiation and resorption activity were collected.Using multiple linear regression analyses combining in vitro and in vivo data,we found the following:(1)age and menopausal status correlate with aggressive osteoclastic bone resorption in vitro;(2)the type I procollagen N-terminal propeptide level in vivo inversely correlates with osteoclast resorption activity in vitro;(3)the protein level of mature cathepsin K in osteoclasts in vitro increases with age and menopause;and(4)the promoter of the gene encoding the dendritic cell-specific transmembrane protein is less methylated with age.We conclude that monocytes are'reprogrammed'in vivo,allowing them to'remember'age,the menopausal status,and the bone formation status in vitro,resulting in more aggressive osteoclasts.Our discovery suggests that this may be mediated through DNA methylation.We suggest that this may have clinical implications and could contribute to understanding individual differences in age-and menopause-induced bone loss. | Anais Marie Julie Moller Jean-Marie Delaisse Jacob Bastholm Olesen Jonna Skov Madsen Luisa Matos Canto Troels Bechmann Silvia Regina Rogatto Kent Soe | 2020 | Bone Research2020，8，3： | 4 |
| 3 | Bilateral versus unilateral cryptorchidism in nonobstructive azoospermia:testicular sperm extraction outcomes显示文摘Cryptorchidism is one of the most frequent causes of nonobstructive azoospermia(NOA)in adulthood.Although it is well known that spermatogenesis is more impaired in bilateral than in unilateral cryptorchidism,previous studies have only described small cohorts or inhomogeneous population.Consequently,we analyzed a cohort of 225 men with only a history of cryptorchidism as sole etiopathogenetic factor for NOA,and compared testicular sperm extraction(TESE)outcomes between men with bilateral versus unilateral cryptorchidism.Our results show no difference in follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)levels and testicular volumes between men with a history of bilateral cryptorchidism compared to unilateral cryptorchidism(median:21.3 IU I^-1 vs 19.3 IU I^-1,P=0.306;and 7.2 ml vs 7.9 ml,P=0.543,respectively).In addition,sperm retrieval rates were similar(66.2%vs 60.0%,P=0.353).Using multivariate analysis,we have found that only a low inhibin B level(above the assay's detection limit)was positively associated with successful sperm retrieval(P<0.05).Regarding intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcomes,we found that cumulative pregnancy rate and live birth rate per cycle were not statistically different between the two groups(17.4%vs 27.8%,P=0.070;and 16.1%vs 26.4%,P=0.067,respectively).Unexpectedly,there was no significant difference in hormonal profiles(FSH,luteinizing hormone[LH],testosterone,and inhibin B levels)and TESE outcomes between unilateral versus bilateral cryptorchidism.This suggests that a history of unilateral cryptorchidism could reflect a bilateral testicular impairment.Interestingly,inhibin B level might be a predictor of successful TESE. | Anne-Laure Barbotin Anais Dauvergne Agathe Dumont Nassima Ramdane Valerie Mitchell Jean-Marc Rigot Florence Boitrelle Geoffroy Robin | 2019 | Asian Journal of Andrology2019，21，5： | 4 |
