1C-reactive protein and diabetic retinopathy in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus显示文摘AIM:To investigate the relationship between Creactive protein(CRP)and diabetic retinopathy(DR)in a cohort of Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).·METHODS:Community-based observational cohort study.There were 1131 participants recruited from November 2009 to September 2011 in Desheng community in urban Beijing.Patients diagnosed T2DM were recruited and underwent a standardized evaluation consisting of a questionnaire,ocular and anthropometric examinations and laboratory investigation.The presence and severity of DR were assessed by seven fields 30°color fundus photographs.Subjects were then classified into groups with no DR,any DR,or vision-threatening DR.CRP was analyzed from serum of study subjects.·RESULTS:A total of 1007 patients with T2DM were included for analysis,including 408(40.5%)men and 599(59.5%)women.The median CRP level was 1.5 mg/L for women and 1.1 mg/L for men(P=0.004,OR 0.37,95%CI0.18-0.74).After adjusting for possible covariates,higher levels of CRP were associated with lower prevalence of any DR(P=0.02,OR 0.55,95%CI 0.35-0.89),but not associated with vision-threatening DR(P=0.62,OR 0.78,95%CI 0.28-2.14).After stratification by sex,the inverseassociation between CRP and DR was found to be statistically significant in men(P=0.006,OR 0.35,95%CI0.16-0.73),but not in women(P=0.58,OR 0.88,95%CI0.29-1.16).·CONCLUSION:The data drawn from a Chinese population with T2DM suggest that increasing CRP levels may be inversely associated with development of DR.Xiu-Fen Yang Yu Deng Hong Gu Apiradee Lim Torkel Snellingen Xi-Pu Liu Ning-Li Wang Amitha Domalpally Ronald Danis Ning-Pu Liu 2016International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2016,9,1:6

12Genome-Wide Analysis of von Willebrand Factor A Gene Family in Rice for Its Role in Imparting Biotic Stress Resistance with Emphasis on Rice Blast Disease显示文摘von Willebrand factor A(vWA)genes are well characterized in humans except for few BONZAI genes,but the vWA genes are least explored in plants.Considering the novelty and vital role of vWA genes,this study aimed at characterization of vWA superfamily in rice.Rice genome was found to have 40 vWA genes distributed across all the 12 chromosomes,and 20 of the 40 vWA genes were unique while the remaining shared large fragment similarities with each other,indicating gene duplication.In addition to vWA domain,vWA proteins possess other different motifs or domains,such as ubiquitin interacting motif in protein degradation pathway,and RING finger in protein-protein interaction.Expression analysis of vWA genes in available expression data suggested that they probably function in biotic and abiotic stress responses including hormonal response and signaling.The frequency of transposon elements in the entire 3K rice germplasm was negligible except for 9 vWA genes,indicating the importance of these genes in rice.Structural and functional diversities showed that the vWA genes in a blast-resistant rice variety Tetep had huge variations compared to blast-susceptible rice varieties HP2216 and Nipponbare.qRT-PCR analysis of vWA genes in Magnaporthe oryzae infected rice tissues indicated OsvWA9,OsvWA36,OsvWA37 and OsvWA18 as the optimal candidate genes for disease resistance.This is the first attempt to characterize vWA gene family in plant species.Suhas Gorakh KARKUTE Vishesh KUMAR Mohd TASLEEM Dwijesh Chandra MISHRA Krishna Kumar CHATURVEDI Anil RAI Amitha Mithra SEVANTHI Kishor GAIKWAD Tilak Raj SHARMA Amolkumar U.SOLANKE 2022Rice science2022,29,4:0
13Exosomes: Emerging implementation of nanotechnology for detecting and managing novel corona virus-SARS-CoV-2显示文摘The spread of SARS-CoV-2 as an emerging novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) had progressed as a worldwide pandemic since the end of 2019. COVID-19 affects firstly lungs tissues which are known for their very slow regeneration. Afterwards, enormous cytokine stimulation occurs in the infected cells immediately after a lung infection which necessitates good management to save patients. Exosomes are extracellular vesicles of nanometric size released by reticulocytes on maturation and are known to mediate intercellular communications. The exosomal cargo serves as biomarkers in diagnosing various diseases;moreover, exosomes could be employed as nanocarriers in drug delivery systems. Exosomes look promising to combat the current pandemic since they contribute to the immune response against several viral pathogens. Many studies have proved the potential of using exosomes either as viral elements or host systems that acquire immune-stimulatory effects and could be used as a vaccine or drug delivery tool. It is essential to stop viral replication, prevent and reverse the massive storm of cytokine that worsens the infected patients’ situations for the management of COVID-19. The main benefits of exosomes could be;no cells will be introduced, no chance of mutation, lack of immunogenicity and the damaged genetic material that could negatively affect the recipient is avoided. Additionally, it was found that exosomes are static with no ability for in vivo reproduction.
