| 20 | Faculties Members' Perspectives and Metaphors Towards Universities' Functions: A Case Study in Education Faculties显示文摘The purpose of this study is to determine the functions of universities and universities' problems in the realization process of these functions according to the views of faculty members in education faculties. The research design was a holistic multiple case study design. In the selection of the study group (participants), the criteria sampling method, which is one of the purposive sampling methods, was used. Semi-structured interviews were used. The results provide insights into the functions of universities, illustrate experience with various problems, and outline the metaphors developed to describe the functions of universities by lecturers. This study strengthens the social and scientific framework of universities based on information processing and provides a concrete description about organizational processes in a university and how a university puts into practice its own functions. This study has demonsrated that universities are education-oriented institutions.
