1Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation of effect of baffles on separation in mixer settler显示文摘The main ideas in the development of the solvent extraction mixer settler focused on achieving clean phase separation,minimizing the loss of the reagents and decreasing the surface area of the settlers.The role of baffles in a mechanically agitated vessel is to ensure even distribution,reduce settler turbulence,promote the stability of power drawn by the impeller and to prevent swirling and vortexing of liquid,thus,greatly improving the mixing of liquid.The insertion of the appropriate number of baffles clearly improves the extent of liquid mixing.However,excessive baffling would interrupt liquid mixing and lengthen the mixing time.Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) provides a tool for determining detailed information on fluid flow(hydrodynamics) which is necessary for modeling subprocesses in mixer settler.A total of 54 final CFD runs were carried out representing different combinations of variables like number of baffles,density and impeller speed.CFD data shows that amount of separation increases with increasing baffles number and decreasing impeller speed.Mohsen Ostad Shabani Ali Mazahery Mehdi Alizadeh Ali Asghar Tofigh Mohammad Reza Rahimipour Mansour Razavi Alireza Kolahi 2012International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,5:12
2Predictive value and main determinants of abnormal features of intraoperative cholangiography during cholecystectomy显示文摘BACKGROUND:The major issue with intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) is whether its diagnostic accuracy for common bile duct (CBD) stones matches that of other diagnostic procedures,and thus,whether it will become a routine diagnostic procedure.The current study aimed to address the main determinants of CBD stone diagnosis in IOC among an Iranian population.METHODS:In a retrospective review database-based study conducted in Taleghani Hospital in Tehran between 2006 and 2008,baseline data and perioperative information of 2060 patients (male to female ratio 542:1518,mean age 53.7 years) who were candidates for cholecystectomy and underwent concomitant IOC for confirming CBD stones were reviewed.The predictive power of this procedure for diagnosis of abnormal biliary ducts with the focus on biliary stones was determined.RESULTS:Overall mortality and morbidity following cholecystectomy in the study population were 0.6% and 2.6%,respectively.Both early mortality and morbidity due to cholecystectomy were higher in male than female.The prevalence of CBD stones in IOC was 3.4% (5.2% in male and 2.8% in female,P=0.008).Among those without gallstones,8.7% had CBD stones and only 3.1% had concomitant gallstones and CBD stones.The main predictors of stone appearance as an abnormal feature of IOC during cholecystectomy were:advanced age (OR=1.022,P=0.001),male gender (OR=1.498,P=0.050),history of abdominal surgery (OR=1.543,P=0.040) and preoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (OR=5.400,P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS:IOC is a safe and accurate method for the assessment of bile duct anatomy and stones.Therefore,the routine use of IOC within cholecystectomy seems reasonable and is recommended.Shahram Yousefpour Azary Heshmat Kalbasi Ali Setayesh Mirhadi Mousavi Asad Hashemi Mahsa Khodadoostan Mohammad Reza Zali Amir Houshang Mohammad Alizadeh 2011Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2011,10,3:11

4微泡钻井液流变性显示文摘鉴于微泡钻井液在衰竭油气藏钻井中的成功应用,通过实验测试和数据分析研究了微泡钻井液的流变性及稳定性。配制了一种典型的微泡钻井液,在不同温度下对其黏度进行测试,分别采用幂律模型、宾汉塑性模型和Herschel-Bulkley模型对测试数据进行了拟合,发现Herschel-Bulkley模型更能准确描述不同温度下微泡形成前后钻井液的流变性。根据Herschel-Bulkley模型拟合结果,温度升高会提高微泡钻井液的剪切稀释程度,微泡形成后钻井液的静切力和井眼净化能力提高,且在高温下微泡钻井液性能不会明显减弱。低剪切速率下微泡钻井液具有较高的黏度,可以保证良好的孔隙堵塞效果。微泡尺寸增长速率及静态析出实验中液体析出速率可作为评价微泡稳定性的指标:微泡尺寸随时间增加增长缓慢且寿命较长,静态析出实验中液体析出速率低,说明微泡钻井液具有良好的稳定性。KHAMEHCHI Ehsan TABIBZADEH Shahin ALIZADEH Ali 2016石油勘探与开发2016,43,6:7
5Distinct element modelling of fracture plan control in continuum and jointed rock mass in presplitting method of surface mining显示文摘Controlled blasting techniques are used to control overbreak and to aid in the stability of the remaining rock formation. Presplitting is one of the most common methods which is used in many open pit mining and surface blast design. The purpose of presplitting is to form a fracture plane across which the radial cracks from the production blast cannot travel. The purpose of this study is to investigate of effect of presplitting on the generation of a smooth wall in continuum and jointed rock mass. The 2D distinct element code was used to simulate the presplitting in a rock slope. The blast load history as a function of time was applied to the inner wall of each blasthole. Important parameters that were considered in the analysis were stress tensor and fracturing pattern. 6Fluid Flow and Mixing in Non-Isothermal Water Model of Continuous Casting Tundish显示文摘Fluid flow and mixing of molten steel in a twin-slab-strand continuous casting tundish were investigated using a mixing model under non-isothermal conditions.This model led to a set of ordinary differential equations that were solved with a Runge-Kutta algorithm.Steady state water modeling was carried out under non-isothermal conditions.Experimental data obtained from the water model were used to calibrate the mixing model.Owing to the presence of a mixed convection in the non-isothermal conditions,a channelizing flow would be created in the fluid inside the tundish.A mixing model was designed that was capable of predicting RTD(residence time distribution)curves for different cases in non-isothermal conditions.The relationship between RTD parameters and the Tu(tundish Richardson number)was obtained for various cases under non-isothermal conditions.The results show that the RTD parameters were completely different under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions.The comparison of the RTD curves between the isothermal and non-isothermal conditions presents that the extent of mixing in the tundish in non-isothermal conditions is lower than the mixing extent in isothermal conditions.Mehdi ALIZADEH Hossein EDRIS Ali SHAFYEI 2008Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2008,15,2:3
7Preoperative clinical and paraclinical predictors of choledocholithiasis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Choledocholithiasis is the most common cause of obstructive jaundice and cholangitis and occurs in about 10%of patients with symptomatic gallstone.The aim of this study was to find preoperative and non-invasive tests for predicting common bile duct stones(CBDs). METHODS:Findings of clinical examination,history laboratory tests and ultrasound(US)in 60 patients with CBDs were compared retrospectively,with 60 patients with gallstones.The data were collected from medical charts The sensitivity,specificity and positive predictive value (PPV)were determined. RESULTS:The comparison between the two groups showed significant differences in anorexia,itching,dark urine subicterus(slightly elevated serum bilirubin without clinical evidence of jaundice)and jaundice appearance increased bilirubin level,aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and alanine aminotranferase(ALT),CBD diameter>6 mm and stone observation under US(P<0.05).The highest specificity(100%)and PPV(100%)were found in dark urine and pale colored stool,history of cholangitis,and icterus.Among paraclinical tests,alkaline phosphatase (ALP)had the highest specificity(72.1%)and PPV(12.5%) Under US,stone observation in CBD was the most important factor with a sensitivity of 94.5%,a specificity of 100%and a PPV of 100%. 9Strongyloides hyper-infection causing life-threatening gastrointestinal bleeding显示文摘A 55-year old male patient was diagnosed with strongy- loides hyper-infection with stool analysis and intestinal biopsy shortly after his chemotherapy for myeloma. He was commenced on albendazole anthelmintic therapy. After initiation of the treatment he suffered life- threatening gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. Repeated endoscopies showed diffuse multi-focal intestinal bleeding. The patient required huge amounts of red blood cells and plasma transfusions and correction of haemostasis with recombinant activated factor Ⅶ. Abdominal aorto-angiography showed numerous micro- aneurysms (‘berry aneurysms’) in the superior and inferior mesenteric arteries’ territories. While the biopsy taken prior to the treatment with albendazole did not show evidence of vasculitis, the biopsy taken after initiation of therapy revealed leukoclastic aggregations around the vessels. These findings suggest that, in addition to direct destruction of the mucosa, vasculitis could be an important additive factor causing the massive GI bleeding during the anthelmintic treatment. This might result from substances released by the worms that have been killed with anthelmintic therapy. Current guidelines advise steroids to be tapered and stopped in case of systematic parasitic infections as they might reduce immunity and precipitate parasitic hyper-infection. In our opinion, steroid therapy might be of value in the management of strongyloides hyper- infection related vasculitis, in addition to the anthelmintic treatment. 11Effect of incorporating Elaeagnus angustifolia extract in PCL-PEG-PCL nanofibers for bone tissue engineering显示文摘Plants have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years but they are still finding new uses in modem times. For example, Elaeagnus angustifolia (EA) is a medicinal herb with antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties and it is widely used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. EA extract was loaded onto poly(ε-caprolactone)- poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCLPEG-PCL/EA) nanofibers and their potential applications for bone tissue engineering were studied. The morphology and chemical properties of the fibers were evaluated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, contact angle measurements and mechanical tests. All the samples had bead-free morphologies with average diameters ranging from 100 to 200 nm. The response of human cells to the PCL-PEGPCL/ EA nanofibers was evaluated using human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs). The hDPSCs had better adhesion and proliferation capacity on the EA loaded nanofibers than on the pristine PCL-PEG?PCL nanofibers. An alizarin red S assay and the alkaline phosphatase activity confirmed that the nanofibrous scaffolds induced osteoblastic performance in the hDPSCs. The quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction results confirmed that the EA loaded nanofibrous scaffolds had significantly upregulated gene expression correlating to osteogenic differentiation. 12Brucellosis: Pathophysiology and new promising treatments with medicinal plants and natural antioxidants显示文摘Brucellosis is an old, infectious and common zoonosis whose causative agents are Gramnegative bacteria from the Brucella genus. Brucellosis is transmitted through direct contactwith infected animals or using unpasteurized dairy products of goats, pigs, camels, sheep,buffalo and cows. Brucellosis is still the most common zoonosis in the world, with mostof cases occurring in developing countries. Today, an approach to traditional medicine andmedicinal plants, especially with regards to the repeated recommendations of the World HealthOrganization, is a necessity. One-third of chemical drugs are produced by using plants andthere is a high potential to produce more drugs from plants. Medicinal plants are helpful inthe management of various conditions, especially bacterial diseases. Although there is notenough scientific evidence regarding the clinical effectiveness of herbal drugs for the treatmentof brucellosis, there is strong evidence on the antimicrobial effects of herbal drugs to preventinfection. 17Tailoring particle shape for enhancing the homogeneity of powder mixtures:Experimental study and DEM modelling显示文摘The effect of particle shape modification on the segregation reduction of enzyme granules in laundry detergent powder mixtures was investigated,both experimentally and computationally using Deseret Element Method(DEM).The shape of modified enzyme particles was in such a way that the large and dense enzyme particles were layered by other fine particles in the detergent powder,by means of a process known in the literature as“seeded granulation”.It is found that the homogeneity of modified enzyme particles could be improved significantly comparing to the original spherical enzyme particles in powder mixtures.Overall,the results of this research demonstrated that the segregation-induced properties of the dense/spherical enzyme particles could be lowered by altering their shape,which could enable the enzyme particles to behave almost similar to other ingredients during the pile formation process.Maryam Asachi Mohammadreza Alizadeh Behjani Ehsan Nourafkan Ali Hassanpour 2021Particuology2021,19,1:1

19Surrogate models for the prediction of damage in reinforced concrete tunnels under internal water pressure显示文摘In the present study,the performance of reinforced concrete tunnel(RCT)under internal water pressure is evaluated by using nonlinear finite element analysis and surrogate models.Several parameters,including the compressive and tensile strength of concrete,the size of the longitudinal reinforcement bar,the transverse bar diameter,and the internal water pre ssure,are considered as the input variables.Based on the levels of variables,36 mix designs are selected by the Taguchi method,and 12 mix designs are proposed in this study.Carbon fiber reinforced concrete(CFRC)or glass fiber reinforced concrete(GFRC)is considered for simulating these 12 samples.Principal component regression(PCR),Multi Ln equation regression(MLnER),and gene expression programming(GEP)are employed for predicting the percentage of damaged surfaces(PDS)of the RCT,the effective tensile plastic strain(ETPS),the maximum deflection of the RCT,and the deflection of crown of RCT.The error terms and statistical parameters,including the maximum positive and negative errors,mean absolute percentage error(MAPE),root mean square error(RMSE),coefficient of determination,and normalized square error(NMSE),are utili zed to evaluate the accuracy of the models.Based on the results,GEP performs better than other models in predicting the outputs.The results sh ow that the internal water pressure and the mechanical properties of concrete have the most effect on the damag e and deflection of the RCT.Alireza BIGDELI Aydin SHISHEGARAN Mohammad Ali NAGHSH Behnam KARAMI Arshia SHISHEGARAN Gholamreza ALIZADEH 2021Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2021,22,8:0
20Does delayed gastric emptying shorten the H pylori eradication period? A double blind clinical trial显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the gastric emptying inhibitory effects of sugar and levodopa on H pylori eradication period. METHODS: A total of 139 consecutive patients were randomized into 6 groups. The participants with peptic ulcer disease or non-ulcer dyspepsia non-responding to other medications who were also H pylori-positive patients either with positive rapid urease test (RUT) or positive histology were included. All groups were pretreated with omeprazole for 2 d and then treated with quadruple therapy regimen (omeprazole, bismuth, tetracycline and metronidazole); all drugs were given twice daily. Groups 1 and 2 were treated for 3 d, groups 3, 4 and 5 for 7 d, and group 6 for 14 d. Groups 1 to 4 received sugar in the form of 10% sucrose syrup. Levodopa was prescribed for groups 1 and 3. Patients in groups 2 and 4 were given placebo for levodopa and groups 5 and 6 received placebos for both sugar and levodopa. Upper endoscopy and biopsies were carried out before treatment and two months after treatment. Eradication of H pylori was assessed by RUT and histology 8 wk later.RESULTS: Thirty patients were excluded. Per-protocol analysis showed successful eradication in 53% in group 1, 56% in group 2, 58% in group 3, 33.3% in group 4, 28% in group 5, and 53% in group 6. Eradication rate, patient compliance and satisfaction were not significantly different between the groups.
