| 1 | Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation of effect of baffles on separation in mixer settler显示文摘The main ideas in the development of the solvent extraction mixer settler focused on achieving clean phase separation,minimizing the loss of the reagents and decreasing the surface area of the settlers.The role of baffles in a mechanically agitated vessel is to ensure even distribution,reduce settler turbulence,promote the stability of power drawn by the impeller and to prevent swirling and vortexing of liquid,thus,greatly improving the mixing of liquid.The insertion of the appropriate number of baffles clearly improves the extent of liquid mixing.However,excessive baffling would interrupt liquid mixing and lengthen the mixing time.Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) provides a tool for determining detailed information on fluid flow(hydrodynamics) which is necessary for modeling subprocesses in mixer settler.A total of 54 final CFD runs were carried out representing different combinations of variables like number of baffles,density and impeller speed.CFD data shows that amount of separation increases with increasing baffles number and decreasing impeller speed. | Mohsen Ostad Shabani Ali Mazahery Mehdi Alizadeh Ali Asghar Tofigh Mohammad Reza Rahimipour Mansour Razavi Alireza Kolahi | 2012 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,5: | 12 |
| 2 | A controllable hydrothermal method to prepare La(OH)_3 nanorods using new precursors显示文摘Using the hydrothermal method, lanthanum hydroxide nanorods were synthesized by the reaction of La Cl3·7H2O, ethylenediamine, and hydrazine. According to SEM results, ethylenediamine and hydrazine with p H management could control the particle growth and played an important role in formation of lanthanum hydroxide nanorods. The morphology and microstructure of the obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) spectra, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX), Fourier transformed infrared(FTIR) spectrum, transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). | 3 | Fluid Flow and Mixing in Non-Isothermal Water Model of Continuous Casting Tundish显示文摘Fluid flow and mixing of molten steel in a twin-slab-strand continuous casting tundish were investigated using a mixing model under non-isothermal conditions.This model led to a set of ordinary differential equations that were solved with a Runge-Kutta algorithm.Steady state water modeling was carried out under non-isothermal conditions.Experimental data obtained from the water model were used to calibrate the mixing model.Owing to the presence of a mixed convection in the non-isothermal conditions,a channelizing flow would be created in the fluid inside the tundish.A mixing model was designed that was capable of predicting RTD(residence time distribution)curves for different cases in non-isothermal conditions.The relationship between RTD parameters and the Tu(tundish Richardson number)was obtained for various cases under non-isothermal conditions.The results show that the RTD parameters were completely different under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions.The comparison of the RTD curves between the isothermal and non-isothermal conditions presents that the extent of mixing in the tundish in non-isothermal conditions is lower than the mixing extent in isothermal conditions. | Mehdi ALIZADEH Hossein EDRIS Ali SHAFYEI | 2008 | Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2008,15,2: | 3 |
| 4 | Alunite processing method selection using the AHP and TOPSIS approaches under fuzzy environment显示文摘Alunite is the most important non bauxite resource for alumina. Various methods have been proposed and patented for processing alunite, but none has been performed at industrial scale and no technical,operational and economic data is available to evaluate methods. In addition, selecting the right approach for alunite beneficiation, requires introducing a wide range of criteria and careful analysis of alternatives.In this research, after studying the existing processes, 13 methods were considered and evaluated by 14 technical, economic and environmental analyzing criteria. Due to multiplicity of processing methods and attributes, in this paper, Multi Attribute Decision Making methods were employed to examine the appropriateness of choices. The Delphi Analytical Hierarchy Process(DAHP) was used for weighting selection criteria and Fuzzy TOPSIS approach was used to determine the most profitable candidates. Brucellosis is transmitted through direct contactwith infected animals or using unpasteurized dairy products of goats, pigs, camels, sheep,buffalo and cows. Brucellosis is still the most common zoonosis in the world, with mostof cases occurring in developing countries. Today, an approach to traditional medicine andmedicinal plants, especially with regards to the repeated recommendations of the World HealthOrganization, is a necessity. One-third of chemical drugs are produced by using plants andthere is a high potential to produce more drugs from plants. Medicinal plants are helpful inthe management of various conditions, especially bacterial diseases. We studied the coordination of azide ion(N3-) to Co(bpb) in binary methanol-water mixtures by spectrophotometric method at the temperature range of 283-303 K. From the temperature dependence of the rate constant,activation parameters(Ea,ΔH,ΔS,and ΔG) were obtained. An isokinetic temperature at about 302 K was observed at which the formation rate of Co(bpb) -N3-was more or less independent of the solvent composition. The resulting ΔH against TΔS plot showed a good linear correlation,indicating the existence of enthalpy-entropy compensation in azide complexation process. Under optimum conditions and based on the absorbance of Co(bpb) -N3-produced through complex formation,a spectrophotometric method for the determination of N 3-in solution was developed. A linear relationship between the absorbance and N3-concentration was obtained in the range of(0.85-5.00) × 10-4 mol·L-1(3.6-21.0 μg·mL-1) . The detection limit was 2.5×10-5 mol·L-1(1.0 μg·mL-1) . | 13 | Does delayed gastric emptying shorten the H pylori eradication period? A double blind clinical trial显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the gastric emptying inhibitory effects of sugar and levodopa on H pylori eradication period. METHODS: A total of 139 consecutive patients were randomized into 6 groups. The participants with peptic ulcer disease or non-ulcer dyspepsia non-responding to other medications who were also H pylori-positive patients either with positive rapid urease test (RUT) or positive histology were included. All groups were pretreated with omeprazole for 2 d and then treated with quadruple therapy regimen (omeprazole, bismuth, tetracycline and metronidazole); all drugs were given twice daily. Groups 1 and 2 were treated for 3 d, groups 3, 4 and 5 for 7 d, and group 6 for 14 d. Groups 1 to 4 received sugar in the form of 10% sucrose syrup. Levodopa was prescribed for groups 1 and 3. Patients in groups 2 and 4 were given placebo for levodopa and groups 5 and 6 received placebos for both sugar and levodopa. Upper endoscopy and biopsies were carried out before treatment and two months after treatment. Eradication of H pylori was assessed by RUT and histology 8 wk later.RESULTS: Thirty patients were excluded. Per-protocol analysis showed successful eradication in 53% in group 1, 56% in group 2, 58% in group 3, 33.3% in group 4, 28% in group 5, and 53% in group 6. Eradication rate, patient compliance and satisfaction were not significantly different between the groups.
