| 1 | Fluctuation of visual analog scale pain scores and opioid consumption before and after total hip arthroplasty显示文摘BACKGROUND Patients who undergo orthopedic procedures are often given excess opioid medication.Understanding the relationship between pain and opioid consumption following total hip arthroplasty(THA)is key to creating safe and effective opioid prescribing guidelines.AIM To evaluate the association between the quantity of opioid consumption in relation to pain scores both pre-and postoperatively in patients undergoing primary THA.METHODS We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent primary THA from November 2018-May 2019 and answered both the visual analog scale(VAS)pain and opioid medication questionnaires pre-and postoperatively.Both surveys were delivered daily for 7-days before surgery through the first 30 postoperative days.Survey results were divided into preoperative,postoperative days 1-7,postoperative days 8-14,and postoperative days 15-30 for analysis.Mean opioid pill consumption and VAS pain scores in each time period were determined and compared to patients’preoperative status using hierarchical Poisson and linear regressions,respectively.RESULTS There were 105 patients included.Mean VAS pain scores were the highest preoperatively 7.41±1.72.However,VAS pain scores significantly declined in each successive postoperative category compared to preoperative scores:postoperative day 1-7(5.07±1.79;P<0.001),postoperative day 8-14(3.60±1.64;P<0.001),and postoperative day 15-30(3.15±1.63;P<0.001).Mean opioid pill consumption preoperatively was 0.68±1.29 pills.Compared to preoperative opioid consumption,opioid use was significantly greater between postoperative days 1-7(1.51±1.58;P=0.001)and postoperative days 8-14(1.00±1.27;P=0.043).Opioid consumption declined below preoperative levels between postoperative days 15-30(0.35±0.72;P=0.160)which correlates with a VAS pain score of 3.15.CONCLUSION All patients experienced significant benefit and pain relief from having undergone THA.Average postoperative opioid consumption decreased below preoperative consumption between postoperative days 15-30,which was associated with a VAS pain score of 3.15.These results can be used to appropriately guide opioid prescribing practices and set patient expectations regarding pain management following THA. | Vivek Singh Alex Tang Thomas Bieganowski Utkarsh Anil William Macaulay Ran Schwarzkopf Roy I Davidovitch | 2022 | World Journal of Orthopedics2022，13，8： | 2 |

| 11 | A new perspective to develop regiorandom polymer acceptors with high active layer ductility,excellent device stability,and high efficiency approaching 17%显示文摘The recently reported efficient polymerized small-molecule acceptors(PSMAs)usually adopt a regioregular backbone by polymerizing small-molecule acceptors precursors with a low-reactivity 5-brominated 3-(dicyanomethylidene)indan-1-one(IC)end group or its derivatives,leading to low molecular weight,and thus reduce active layer mechanical properties.Herein,a series of newly designed chlorinated PSMAs originating from isomeric IC end groups are developed by adjusting chlorinated positions and copolymerized sites on end groups to achieve high molecular weight,favorable intermolecular interaction,and improved physicochemical properties.Compared with regioregular PY2Se-Cl-o and PY2Se-Cl-m,regiorandom PY2Se-Cl-ran has a similar absorption profile,moderate lowest unoccupied molecular orbital level,and favorable intermolecular packing and crystallization properties.Moreover,the binary PM6:PY2Se-Cl-ran blend achieves better ductility with a crack-onset strain of 17.5% and improved power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 16.23% in all-polymer solar cells(all-PSCs)due to the higher molecular weight of PY2Se-Cl-ran and optimized blend morphology,while the ternary PM6:J71:PY2Se-Cl-ran blend offers an impressive PCE approaching 17% and excellent device stability,which are all crucial for potential practical applications of all-PSCs in wearable electronics.To date,the efficiency of 16.86% is the highest value reported for the regiorandom PSMAs-based all-PSCs and is also one of the best values reported for the all-PSCs.Our work provides a new perspective to develop efficient all-PSCs,with all high active layer ductility,impressive PCE,and excellent device stability,towards practical applications. | Qunping Fan Ruijie Ma Wenyan Su Qinglian Zhu Zhenghui Luo Kai Chen Yabing Tang Francis RLin Yuxiang Li He Yan Chuluo Yang Alex K.-Y.Jen Wei Ma | 2023 | Carbon Energy2023，5，2： | 0 |

| 13 | Venous thromboembolism in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in China:a report from the Chinese Children’s Cancer Group-ALL-2015显示文摘Venous thromboembolism(VTE)is a complication in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL).The Chinese Children’s Cancer Group-ALL-2015 protocol was carried out in China,and epidemiology,clinical characteristics,and risk factors associated with VTE were analyzed.We collected data on VTE in a multiinstitutional clinical study of 7640 patients with ALL diagnosed in 20 hospitals from January 2015 to December 2019.First,VTE occurred in 159(2.08%)patients,including 90(56.6%)during induction therapy and 108(67.92%)in the upper extremities.T-ALL had a 1.74-fold increased risk of VTE(95%CI 1.08–2.8,P=0.022).Septicemia,as an adverse event of ALL treatment,can significantly promote the occurrence of VTE(P<0.001).Catheter-related thrombosis(CRT)accounted for 75.47%(n=120);and,symptomatic VTE,58.49%(n=93),which was more common in patients aged 12–18 years(P=0.023),non-CRT patients(P<0.001),or patients with cerebral thrombosis(P<0.001).Of the patients with VTE treated with anticoagulation therapy(n=147),4.08%(n=6)had bleeding.The VTE recurrence rate was 5.03%(n=8).Patients with VTE treated by non-ultrasoundguided venous cannulation(P=0.02),with residual thrombus(P=0.006),or with short anticoagulation period(P=0.026)had high recurrence rates.Thus,preventing repeated venous puncture and appropriately prolonged anticoagulation time can reduce the risk of VTE recurrence. | Mengmeng Yin Hongsheng Wang Xianmin Guan Ju Gao Minghua Yang Ningling Wang Tianfeng Liu Jingyan Tang Alex WK Leung Fen Zhou Xuedong Wu Jie Huang Hong Li Shaoyan Hu Xin Tian Hua Jiang Jiaoyang Cai Xiaowen Zhai Shuhong Shen Qun Hu | 2023 | Frontiers of Medicine2023，17，3： | 0 |
