Fusarium wilt of banana:Current update and sustainable disease control using classical and essential oils approaches显示文摘Fusarium species were reported to produce biofilms.Biofilms are superficial societies of microbes bounded and endangered by being situated or taking place outside a cell or cells. The most destructive fungal diseases caused by phytopathogens are as a result of biofilms formation.Fusarium wilt of banana(Panama disease)is caused by a soil-borne pathogen called Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.cubense.Fusarium oxysporum occurs in a form of a species complex(FOSC)which encompasses a crowd of strains.Horizontal genetic factor transfer may donate to the observed assortment in pathogenic strains, while sexual reproduction is unknown in the FOSC.Fusarium wilt is a notorious disease on several crops worldwide.Yield loss caused by this pathogen is huge, and significant to destroy crop yields annually, thereby affecting the producer countries in various continents of the world. The disease is also resistant to various synthetic chemical fungicides. However, excessive use of synthetic fungicides during disease control could be lethal to humans, animals, and plants. This calls for alternative eco-friendly management of this disease by targeting the biofilms formation and finally suppressing this devastating phytopathogen. In this review,we,therefore, described the damage caused by Fusarium wilt disease, the concept of filamentous fungal biofilms, classical control strategies, sustainable disease control strategies using essential oils, and prevention and control of vegetables Fusarium wilt diseases. | Abubakar Abubakar Ismaila Khairulmazmi Ahmad Yasmeen Siddique Muhammad Aswad Abdul Wahab Abdulaziz Bashir Kutawa Adamu Abdullahi Syazwan Afif Mohd Zobir Arifin Abdu Siti Nor Akmar Abdullah | 2023 | Horticultural Plant Journal2023,9,1: | 2

Effects of La_(2)O_(3) addition on microstructure development and physical properties of harder ZTA-CeO_(2) composites with sustainable high fracture toughness显示文摘The influence of La_(2)O_(3) inclusion(0-3 wt%) on the micro structure, phase formation and mechanical properties of zirconia toughed alumina(ZTA) added with 5.0 wt% CeO_(2) was investigated.ZTA CeO_(2) composites were sintered at 1600℃ for 4 h.The microstructure, phase formation, density, fracture toughness and hardness properties were characterised through FESEM,Microscopy Image Analysis Software and XRD diffractometer,Archimedes principle and Vickers indentation technique, respectively. The XRD,image processing and FESEM reveal the existence of LaAl_(11)O_(18).The addition of La_(2)O_(3) incites the sintering, microstructure refinement, densification of ZTA-CeO_(2) matrix and phase transformation.Hence, the hardness of ZTA-CeO_(2) ceramics is increased rapidly based on refinement of Al_(2)O_(3) grains, densification of ZTA-CeO_(2) composites and porosity reduction. It is observed that the fracture toughness is enhanced through in situ formation of elongated LaAl_(11)O_(18) grains. The addition of 0.7 wt% La_(2)O_(3) culminated in the achievement of the optimum findings for density(4.41 g/cm^(3)),porosity(0.46%),hardness(1792 HV) and fracture toughness(8.8 MPa·m^(1/2)).Nevertheless,excess La_(2)O_(3) is proven to be detrimental as it displays poor mechanical properties due to the poor compactness of numerous LaAl_(11)O_(18) grains, coarsening of Al_(2)O_(3) grains and decline in density. | Zhwan Dilshad Ibrahim Sktani Nik Akmar Rejab Abdul Fatah Zulkarnain Rosli Ali Arab Zainal Arifin Ahmad | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,7: | 1
Large-area plastic nanogap electronics enabled by adhesion lithography显示文摘Large-area manufacturing of flexible nanoscale electronics has long been sought by the printed electronics industry. However, the lack of a robust, reliable, high throughput and low-cost technique that is capable of delivering high-performance functional devices has hitherto hindered commercial exploitation.Herein we report on the extensive range of capabilities presented by adhesion lithography(a-Lith),an innovative patterning technique for the fabrication of coplanar nanogap electrodes with arbitrarily large aspect ratio. We use this technique to fabricate a plethora of nanoscale electronic devices based on symmetric and asymmetric coplanar electrodes separated by a nanogap<15 nm.We show that functional devices including self-aligned-gate transistors, radio frequency diodes and rectifying circuits,multi-colour organic light-emitting nanodiodes and multilevel non-volatile memory devices, can be fabricated in a facile manner with minimum process complexity on a range of substrates. The compatibility of the formed nanogap electrodes with a wide range of solution processable semiconductors and substrate materials renders a-Lith highly attractive for the manufacturing of large-area nanoscale opto/electronics on arbitrary size and shape substrates. | James Semple Dimitra G.Georgiadou Gwenhivir Wyatt-Moon Minho Yoon Akmaral Seitkhan Emre Yengel Stephan Rossbauer Francesca Bottacchi Martyn A.McLachlan Donal D.C.Bradley Thomas D.Anthopoulos | 2018 | npj Flexible Electronics2018,2,1: | 1

Corrosion behavior of magnesium in aqueous sulfate-containing electrolytes显示文摘Studies have been conducted on the corrosive behavior of magnesium in aqueous sulfate electrolytes(0.5 mol/L MgSO_(4);0.5 mol/L Na2SO_(4);0.5 mol/L MgSO_(4)+0.5 mol/L Na2SO_(4)).The composition structure and morphology of the surface of the samples were studied using scanning electron microscopy in combination with X-ray spectral microanalysis. The results of the experiments showed the formation of a surface film inhomogeneous in its structure and composition with the main components Mg(OH)_(2)and Mg O.An increase in the exposure time of the electrode in solution led to the formation of microcracks on the main film caused by internal stress because of hydration of magnesium oxide produced during corrosion. The salt composition of the electrolyte determines the morphology and thickness of corrosion films due to differences in the solubility of the products formed during the hydrolysis of magnesium oxide and the kinetics of this process.Applying the methods of scanning electron microscopy X-ray electron analysis gravimetry and voltammetry it has been established that at various stages of magnesium corrosion in different electrolytes the growth rates of corrosion films are determined by the kinetics of magnesium oxide formation its hydration and dissolution followed by crystallization in the form of a brucite phase of loose sediments on the surface. | Ainaz A.Abildina Andrey P.Kurbatov Yeldana G.Bakhytzhan Raigul Zh.Jumanova Akmaral M.Argimbayeva Khaisa Avchukir Gulmira S.Rakhymbay | 2023 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2023,11,6: | 0

Assessment of molecular markers and marker-assisted selection for drought tolerance in barley(Hordeum vulgare L.)显示文摘This review updates the present status of the field of molecular markers and marker-assisted selection(MAS),using the example of drought tolerance in barley. The accuracy of selected quantitative trait loci(QTLs),candidate genes and suggested markers was assessed in the barley genome cv.Morex.Six common strategies are described for molecular marker development, candidate gene identification and verification, and their possible applications in MAS to improve the grain yield and yield components in barley under drought stress. These strategies are based on the following five principles:(1)Molecular markers are designated as genomic‘tags’,and their‘prediction’is strongly dependent on their distance from a candidate gene on genetic or physical maps;(2)plants react differently under favourable and stressful conditions or depending on their stage of development;(3)each candidate gene must be verified by confirming its expression in the relevant conditions,e.g.,drought;(4)the molecular marker identified must be validated for MAS for tolerance to drought stress and improved grain yield;and(5)the small number of molecular markers realized for MAS in breeding, from among the many studies targeting candidate genes, can be explained by the complex nature of drought stress, and multiple stress-responsive genes in each barley genotype that are expressed differentially depending on many other factors. | Akmaral Baidyussen Gulmira Khassanova Maral Utebayev Satyvaldy Jatayev Rystay Kushanova Sholpan Khalbayeva Aigul Amangeldiyeva Raushan Yerzhebayeva KulpashBulatova Carly Schramm Peter Anderson Colin L.D.Jenkins Kathleen LSoole Yuri Shavrukov | 2024 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2024,23,1: | 0

Modelling of the Whole Process of a University Campus CHP Power Plant and Dynamic Performance Study显示文摘Combined heat and power(CHP) refers to a process/system designed to utilize the waste or residual heat from a power generation process. Thus, a CHP plant can produce both electricity and heat. The nature of such a combination makes the process more complex than any single power generation process or boiler heating system. The paper focuses on modelling study and analysis of energy efficiency of the University of Warwick micro-CHP power plant. In this CHP modelling study, a gas turbine module is built to provide driving power and methane is used as fuel gas. Heat recovery system and auxiliary boiler modules are developed for thermal power generation. All the sub-systems are validated by comparing the simulation results with the operating data collected from the CHP plant. The dynamic performance of the key CHP process outputs is studied with respect to the variation of the input syngas stream, including electricity generation, thermal power output and water output temperature. Simplified controllers are also applied to the gas engineheat recovery subsystem and auxiliary boiler. Simulation results with/without feedback control are both analyzed. The study has highlighted the key factors which influence the plant performance and suggested the strategy for potential energy efficiency improvement. | Yue Wang Akmaral Bermukhambetova Ji-Hong Wang Mark Donner Jun-Fu Lv Qi-Rui Gao | 2016 | International Journal of Automation and computing2016,13,1: | 0
