| 1 | The effect of extracts of Selaginella involvens and Selaginella inaequalifolia leaves on poultry pathogens显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antimicrobial activity of some commonly available herbs against poultry pathogens such as Escherichia coli(E.coli) and Pseudomonas species isolated from poultry litter.Methods:The extracts of Selaginella involvens and Selaginella inaequalifolia were tested against E.coli and Pseudomonas isolated from poultry litter by the agar diffusion method.Results:Results indicated that different plant extracts showed inhibitory effects against E.coli(8-13 mm ) and Pseudomonas(6.5-13 mm).The four different extracts of Selaginella involvens and Selaginella inaequalifolia showed similar levels of antimicrobial activity on E.coli. | 3 | In vivo and in vitro phytochemical and antibacterial efficacy of Baliospermum montanum (Willd.) Muell.Arg.显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the phytochemical and anti-bacterial potential of mother plants in vivo and in vitro derived callus of Baliospermum montanum(B.montanum)(Willd.) Muell.-Arg. leaves and root.Methods:The in vitro derived rootlets and leaves segments of B.montanum were cut into 0.5-0.7 cm in length and cultured on Murashige and Skoog solid medium supplemented with 3%sucrose,gelled with 0.7%agar and different concentration of 2,4-D either alone or in combinations.The preliminary phytochemical screening was performed by Harborne method.Antibacterial efficacy was performed by well diffusion method and incubated for 24 h at 37℃.Results:The highest percentage of callus formation(leaves segments 86.9±0.56:root segments 78.7±0.51) was obtained on Murashige and Skoog’s basal medium supplemented with 3%sucrose and 2.0 mg/L of 2.4-Dichlorophenoxy acetic acid.The phytochemical study revealed the high quantity presence of steroids,triterpenoids,glycosides,saponins,alkaloids,flavanoids, phenolic compounds,tannins,sugars etc of root and leaves derived calli.The ethanol extract of leaves segment derived calli of B.montanum showed the maximum solubility and antimicrobial activity with the MIC ranged from 100 to 200μL.Conclusions:The preliminary phytochemical study confirmed that the calli mediated tissues showed the higher percentage of metabolite constituents and extraction value compared to the in vivo leaves and roots.The present study observation suggested that a possibility to establish high yielding genotypes by in vitro culture for production of medicinally important bioactive compounds. | Johnson M Wesely EG Zahir Hussain MI Selvan N | 2010 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,11: | 6 |
| 4 | Development of processing maps for as-cast ZE41A magnesium alloy显示文摘The hot deformation behavior of as-cast ZE41A magnesium alloy was studied by employing both processing maps and microstructural observations. To obtain processing map, hot compression tests were performed over a range of strain rates (0.001-1.0 s-1) and temperatures (250-450 ℃). Power dissipation efficiency (η) and instability parameter [ξ (ε)] were evaluated and processing maps were developed for the strain of 0.5. The dynamic recrystallization (DRX) and instable zones were identified and validated through micrographs. | 5 | Preliminary phytochemical and antimicrobial studies on a spike-moss Selaginella inaequalifolia(hook.& grev.) Spring显示文摘Objective:To screen the anti-cancer spike-mosses for the presence of various bioactivities and to identify the important bioactive chemicals present in Selaginella inaequalifolia(S. inaequalifolia)(Hook.& Grev.) Spring.Methods:Preliminary phytochemical screening was done by following the method of Brindha et al.Antimicrobial study was carried out by disc diffusion method.Results:Results of preliminary phytochemical screening on five different extracts(petroleum ether,benzene,chloroform,ethanol and distilled water) of the spike-moss S.inaequalifolia show the presence steroids,triterpenes,phenolic group,tannin,sugars and catechin.Alkaloids,amino acids,anthraquinone and reducing sugar did not show any positive result.Among the five different extracts,ethanol and chloroform extracts show the presence of maximum number(4 each) of compounds.The results on antimicrobial studies show that all the three microbes[Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus),Escherichia coli(E.coli) and Candida albicans (C.albicans)]tested are resistant to the ethanol extract and susceptible to petroleum ether extract.The petroleum ether extract shows maximum inhibition with 45 mm of inhibition zone in C.albicans.The inhibition zone in S.aureus and E.coli are 26 mm and 22 mm respectively. | 7 | High-Performance 3-D Fiber Network Composite Electrolyte Enabled with Li-Ion Conducting Nanofibers and Amorphous PEO-Based Cross-Linked Polymer for Ambient All-Solid-State Lithium-Metal Batteries显示文摘Solid electrolytes have gained attention recently for the development of next-generation Li-ion batteries since they can fun-damentally improve the battery stability and safety.Among various types of solid electrolytes,composite solid electrolytes(CSEs)exhibit both high ionic conductivity and excellent interfacial contact with the electrodes.Incorporating active nanofib-ers into the polymer matrix demonstrates an effective method to fabricate CSEs.However,current CSEs based on traditional poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)polymer suffer from the poor ionic conductivity of PEO and agglomeration effect of inorganic fillers at high concentrations,which limit further improvements in Li+conductivity and electrochemical stability.Herein,we synthesize a novel PEO based cross-linked polymer(CLP)as the polymer matrix with naturally amorphous structure and high room-temperature ionic conductivity of 2.40×10^(−4)S cm^(−1).Li_(0.3)La_(0.557)TiO_(3)(LLTO)nanofibers are incorporated into the CLP matrix to form composite solid electrolytes,achieving enhanced ionic conductivity without showing filler agglomeration.The high content of Li-conductive nanofibers improves the mechanical strength,ensures the conductive network,and increases the total Li+conductivity to 3.31×10^(−4)S cm^(−1).The all-solid-state Li|LiFePO_(4)batteries with LLTO nanofiber-incorporated CSEs are able to deliver attractive specific capacity of 147 mAh g^(−1)at room temperature,and no evident dendrite is found at the anode/electrolyte interface after 100 cycles. | Chaoyi Yan Pei Zhu Hao Jia Jiadeng Zhu R.Kalai Selvan Ya Li Xia Dong Zhuang Du Indunil Angunawela Nianqiang Wu Mahmut Dirican Xiangwu Zhang | 2019 | Advanced Fiber Materials2019,1,1: | 2 |
