2Differential regulation of JAK/STAT-signaling in patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease显示文摘In 2018,the pan-Janus kinase(JAK)inhibitor tofacitinib was launched for the treatment of ulcerative colitis(UC).Although tofacitinib has proven efficacious in patients with active UC,it failed in patients with Crohn’s disease(CD).This finding strongly hints at a different contribution of JAK signaling in both entities.Here,we review the current knowledge on the interplay between the JAK/signal transducer and activator of transcription(STAT)pathway and inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD).In particular,we provide a detailed overview of the differences and similarities of JAK/STAT-signaling in UC and CD,highlight the impact of the JAK/STAT pathway in experimental colitis models and summarize the published evidence on JAK/STAT-signaling in immune cells of IBD as well as the genetic association between the JAK/STAT pathway and IBD.Finally,we describe novel treatment strategies targeting JAK/STAT inhibition in UC and CD and comment on the limitations and challenges of the new drug class.Friederike Cordes Dirk Foell John Nik Ding Georg Varga Dominik Bettenworth 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,28:16
3Synthesis of ion imprinted polymers for selective recognition and separation of rare earth metals显示文摘Lanthanide-ion imprinted polymers(L-IIPs) were synthesized by stoichiometric amounts of rare earth ions and the cavities in the polymers were created for the corresponding lanthanide ions. The maximum sorption capacities were estimated to be 125.3, 126.5, 127.6, 128.2 and 129.1 mg/g for Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu and Gd, respectively at p H 6. In the selectivity study, the L-IIPs exhibited good selectivity to the specific rare earth ions in the presence of coexisting cations. 4Numerical and experimental investigation of three-dimensionality in the dam-break flow against a vertical wall显示文摘The three-dimensionality extent of the dam break flow over a vertical wall is investigated numerically and experimentally in this paper. The numerical method is based on Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) equation that describes the three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flow. The free surface is captured by using the unstructured multi-dimensional interface capturing(UMTHINC) scheme. The equations are discretized on 2-D and 3-D unstructured grids using finite volume method. The numerical simulations are compared with newly conducted experiment with emphasis on the effect of three-dimensionality on both free surface and impact pressure. The comparison between the numerical and experimental results shows good agreement. Furthermore, the results also show that 3-D motion of the flow originates at the moment of impact at the lower corners of the impact wall and propagates to the inner region as time advances. 7GAJA:3D CAD methodology for developing a parametric system for the automatic(re)modeling of the cutting components of compound washer dies显示文摘For the designing of cutting-dies is a complex and experience-based process,it is poorly supported by conventional 3D CAD software.Thus,the majority of design activities,including the(re)modeling of those cutting die-components that are directly responsible for performing shaping operations on a sheet-metal stamping part,traditionally still need to be carried-out repetitively,separately,and manually by the designer.To eliminate some of these drawbacks and upgrade the capabilities of conventional 3D CAD software,this paper proposes a new methodology for the development of a parametric system capable of automatically performing a(re)modeling process of compound washer dies' cutting-components.The presented methodology integrates CATIA V5 built-in modules,including Part Design,Assembly Design and Knowledge Advisor,publication mechanism,and compound cutting die-design knowledge.The system developed by this methodology represents an 'intelligent' assembly template composed of two modules GAJA1 and GAJA2,respectively.GAJA1 is responsible for the direct input of the die-design problem regarding the shape,dimensions and material of the stamping part,its extraction in the form of geometric features,and the transferring of relevant design parameters and features to the module GAJA2.GAJA2 interprets the current values for the input parameters and automatically performs the modeling process of cutting die-components,using die-design knowledge and the company's internal design and manufacturing standards.Experimental results show that this system significantly shortens the modeling-time for cutting the die-components,improves the modeling-quality,and enables the training of inexperienced designers.David POTONIK Bojan DOLAK Miran ULBIN 2013Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2013,14,5:2
8Predictive control of plug-in electric vehicle chargers with photovoltaic integration显示文摘This paper presents a model predictive control(MPC) for off-board plug-in electric vehicle(PEV)chargers with photovoltaic(PV) integration using two-level four-leg inverter topology. The PEV charger is controlled by a unified controller that incorporates direct power and current MPC to dynamically control decoupled active-reactive power flow in a smart grid environment as well as to control PEV battery charging and discharging reliably. PV power generation with maximum power tracking is seamlessly integrated with the power flow control to provide additional power generation. Fast dynamic response and good steady-state performance under all power flow modes and various environmental conditions are evaluated and analyzed. From the results obtained, the charger demonstrates less than 1.5% total harmonic distortion as well as low active and reactive power ripple of less than 7% and 8% respectively on the grid for all power flow modes. The PEV battery also experiences a low charging and discharging current ripple of less than 2.5%. 12SATVPC:Secure-agent-based trustworthy virtual private cloud model in open computing environments显示文摘Private clouds and public clouds are turning mutually into the open integrated cloud computing environment,which can aggregate and utilize WAN and LAN networks computing,storage,information and other hardware and software resources sufficiently,but also bring a series of security,reliability and credibility problems.To solve these problems,a novel secure-agent-based trustworthy virtual private cloud model named SATVPC was proposed for the integrated and open cloud computing environment.Through the introduction of secure-agent technology,SATVPC provides an independent,safe and trustworthy computing virtual private platform for multi-tenant systems.In order to meet the needs of the credibility of SATVPC and mandate the trust relationship between each task execution agent and task executor node suitable for their security policies,a new dynamic composite credibility evaluation mechanism was presented,including the credit index computing algorithm and the credibility differentiation strategy.The experimental system shows that SATVPC and the credibility evaluation mechanism can ensure the security of open computing environments with feasibility.Experimental results and performance analysis also show that the credit indexes computing algorithm can evaluate the credibilities of task execution agents and task executor nodes quantitatively,correctly and operationally.徐小龙 涂群 BESSIS Nik 杨庚 王新珩 2014Journal of Central South University2014,21,8:2

14In situ biosynthesized silver nanoparticle-incorporated synthesized zeolite A using Orthosiphon aristatus extract for in vitro antibacterial wound healing显示文摘The capability of synthesized zeolite A(SZ)to immobilize Ag ions(Ag-SZ)and Ag nanoparticles(AgNp-SZ)were comparatively studied.A novel approach of in situ biosynthesized AgNP-incorporated synthesized zeolite A(AgNp-SZ)was synthesized at an optimum volume of 0.4mL of the Orthosiphon aristatus(O.aristatus)leaves plant extract(5%)using an in situ approach.In comparison,Ag-Sz was produced by loading the synthesized zeolite with Ag ions.All synthesized materials were characterized for their morphologies and physicochemicalproperties.The characterization analysesvalidate thathe biosynthesized AgNP(<100 nm)using O.aristatus leaves extract was incorporated into the zeolite A.The antibacterial testing confirmed that these materials have antibacterial activity against Escherichia coliATCC11229 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538.MIC/MBC analysis demonstrated that in 0.9%saline solution,AgNP-SZ had higher antibacterial activity than Ag-Sz.The in vitro cell viability and migration assays were further examined towards human skin fibroblast cells HSF 1184.Results show that the materials are not cytotoxicto HSF1184,and the biosynthesized AgNP-SZ promotes cell migration and proliferation higher than Ag-SZ.This research proved that the biocompatible antibacterial wound healing agent of AgNP-SZ can be synthesized using an in situ approach where the reduction process of Ag ions in the zeolite Acan be performed using plant extract.Muhammad Hariz Asraf Nor Suriani Sani Craig Denver Williams Khairunadwa Jemon Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Maliek 2022Particuology2022,20,8:2
15Markov Chain Modelling of Reliability Analysis and Prediction under Mixed Mode Loading显示文摘The reliability assessment for an automobile crankshaft provides an important understanding in dealing with the design life of the component in order to eliminate or reduce the likelihood of failure and safety risks.The failures of the crankshafts are considered as a catastrophic failure that leads towards a severe failure of the engine block and its other connecting subcomponents.The reliability of an automotive crankshaft under mixed mode loading using the Markov Chain Model is studied.The Markov Chain is modelled by using a two-state condition to represent the bending and torsion loads that would occur on the crankshaft.The automotive crankshaft represents a good case study of a component under mixed mode loading due to the rotating bending and torsion stresses.An estimation of the Weibull shape parameter is used to obtain the probability density function,cumulative distribution function,hazard and reliability rate functions,the bathtub curve and the mean time to failure.The various properties of the shape parameter is used to model the failure characteristic through the bathtub curve is shown.Likewise,an understanding of the patterns posed by the hazard rate onto the component can be used to improve the design and increase the life cycle based on the reliability and dependability of the component.The proposed reliability assessment provides an accurate,efficient,fast and cost effective reliability analysis in contrast to costly and lengthy experimental techniques.SINGH Salvinder ABDULLAH Shahrum NIK MOHAMED Nik Abdullah MOHD NOORANI Mohd Salmi 2015Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2015,28,2:2

18Risk Assessment of Metal Contamination in Soil and Groundwater in Asia: A Review of Recent Trends as well as Existing Environmental Laws and Regulations显示文摘Asia is experiencing a more rapid economic growth compared to any other regions. The contamination of soil and groundwater with metals can mainly be attributed to human activities; therefore, risk assessments to characterize the nature and magnitude of risks to humans and ecological receptors from contaminants are important. Risk assessments are often iterative processes, which involve identification and filling data gap. Experimental samplings, geostatistical and multivariate statistical methods as well as multimedia risk assessment modeling are the three major methodologies used in the assessment of metal contamination in soil and groundwater.This review highlights a number of measurements for improving risk calculation methods and expounds scientific approaches that involve the identification of the major source of contamination, exposure pathways and bioavailability of metals. In general, risk assessments of metals in soil and groundwater worldwide are mainly focused on the levels of contamination, identification of exposure pathways, and prediction of the probability of contamination. To date, very limited studies have reported the development of relevant environmental laws and policies in the regulation of soil and groundwater contamination in Asia. 20An investigation into the effects of particle texture,water content and parallel plates' diameters on rheological behavior of fine sediment显示文摘Siltation,a phenomenon resulted from the presence of fine particles in an aqueous environment,dominated by silt and clay,is a known and common environmental issue worldwide.The accumulation of fine sediments engenders murky water with low oxygen levels,which leads to the death of aquatic life.Thus,investigating the physical and mechanical properties of fine sediment by rheological methods has expanded.Rheology is the science of deformation and flow of matter in stress.This survey investigates the rheological behavior of six samples of soil as the fine particles structure(D < 63 μm) from different regions of Malaysia by using a rotational rheometer with a parallel-plate measuring(using two sizes:25 mm and 50 mm) device to explore the flow and viscoelastic properties of fine particles.The samples were examined in two rheological curve and amplitude sweep test methods to investigate the effect of water content ratio,texture,and structure of patticles on rheological properties.It was found that the content of fine sand,clay,and silt had an effect on the stiffness,structural stability,and shear behavior.Thus,the pseudoplastic and viscoelastic behaviot are respectively shown.Moreover,the amount of fine sediments present in water i.e.the concentration of these particles,has a direct effect on the rheological curve.A reduction in viscosity of samples with higher concentrations of water has been observed.As a consequence,a considerable quantity of fine sediments are distributed within the water body and remain suspended over the time.As a result,the sedimentation rate slows down.It needs to be asserted that the stotage modulus G′,loss modulus G″,and yield point can vary depending on particle type.The G′ and G″were instigated for samples(70%and 45%concentrations) that demonstrated viscoelastic characteristics using the same rotational rheometer with a parallel-plate measuring device.Masoumeh Moayeri Kashani Lai Sai Hin Shaliza Binti Ibrahim Nik Meriam Binti Nik Sulaiman Fang Yenn Teo 2016International Journal of Sediment Research2016,31,2:2
