2Immunohisto chemical Study on the Effects of Pyrethroids on Gluta-mate and γ-Aminobutyric Acid in Rat Central Nervous System显示文摘Objective\ In order to study the effects of pyrethroids on glutamate (Glu) and gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) in rat central nervous system. Methods\ Male SD rats were treated with permethrin (7 mg/kg, i.p) or cypermethrin (70 mg/kg, i.p) once a day for 3 days. Glu and GABA immunoreactive cells and transmitters in CNS were studied by immunohistochemical method. Results\ The total number, percentage of positive area and integral optical density of glutamate immunoreactive cell in cerebral cortex, hippocampus decreased significantly in permethrin or cypermethrin, while GABA was enhanced. Cypermethrin is more tent than permethrin on either Glu or GABA. 4APACHE system is better than Ranson system in the prediction of severity of acute pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND: It has been suggested that addition of obesity score to the APACHE-Ⅱ system can lead to more accurate prediction of severity of acute pancreatitis. However there is scanty information on the usefulness of the combined APACHE-O scoring system in Asian patients. This study aimed to compare the accuracy of Ranson, APACHE-Ⅱ and APACHE-O systems in assessing severity of acute pancreatitis in a local Chinese population. METHODS: One hundred and one consecutive patients with acute pancreatitis were prospectively studied. Body mass index (BMI) was measured on admission. Ranson score, APACHE-Ⅱ and APACHE-O scores were recorded on admission and at 48 hours. By adopting the cut-off levels and definitions advocated in the Atlanta consensus for severe disease, the diagnostic accuracy of the three scoring systems was compared by the area under the curve (AUC) under the receiver operator characteristic curve. RESULTS: Of the 101 patients, 12 (11.9%) patients suffered from severe pancreatitis. Obesity was uncommon and only two patients (2.0%) had BMI >30. Eighty-two (81.2%) patients were normal weight (BMI≤25) whereas 17 (16.8%) were overweight ( BMI 25-30 ). Overweight or obesity (BMI >25) was not associated with severe pancreatitis (P= 0.40). The AUC for admission scores of Ranson, APACHE-Ⅱ, and APACHE-O systems was 0. 549, 0. 904 and 0. 904, respectively. The AUC for 48-hour scores of Ranson, APACHE-Ⅱ and APACHE-O systems was 0.808, 0.955 and 0.951, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The APACHE-Ⅱ scoring system is more accurate than the Ranson scoring system of the prediction of severity in acute pancreatitis. 7Recovery of Iron From High-Iron Red Mud by Reduction Roasting With Adding Sodium Salt显示文摘Red mud is the waste generated during aluminum production from bauxite, containing lots of iron and other valuable metals. In order to recover iron from red mud, the technology of adding sodium carbonate-reduction roasting-magnetic separation to treat high-iron red mud was developed. The effects of sodium carbonate dosage, reduction temperature and reduction time on the qualities of final product and the phase transformations in reduction process were discussed in detail. The results showed that the final product (mass percent), assaying Fe of 90.87% and Al2O3 of 0.95% and metallization degree of 94.28% was obtained at an overall iron recovery of 95.76% under the following conditions of adding 8% sodium carbonate, reduction roasting at 1 050 ℃ for 80 min and finally magnetic separation of the reduced pellets by grinding up to 90% passing 0.074 mm at magnetic field intensity of 0.08 T. The XRD (X-ray diffraction) results indicated that the iron oxides were transformed into metallic iron. 8Dynamic expression of apoptosis-related genes during development of laboratory hepatocellular carcinoma and its relation to apoptosis显示文摘AIM:To explore the expression of p53,bcl-2,bax,survivin and the cell apoptosis during the development of tree shrew hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),the relationship between expression of these genes,its impact on HCC development,and its relation to cell apoptosis.METHONS:Tree shrew HCC was induced with aflatoxin B1(AFB1),and regular biopsy of liver tissues was carried out and the biopsy tissues were collected during cancer inducement.Liver biopsy tisue and HCC tissue were collected from 35pre-cancerous experimental animats at wk 30 and 60 and at the 30th_,60th_,and 90th-wk,Liver biopsy tissues were collected from 13 blank control animals at wk 30,60,and 90.Expression of p53,bcl-2,bax,and survivin at each stage was examined by immunohistochemistry method.Apoptotic cells were detected in situ by the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated nick end labeling(tunel)technique.RESULTS:The apoptosis rate of normal hepatic cells was extremely low,whereas it increased during the formation of HCC.Expression of the apoptosis-related genes p53,bd-2,bax,and suvivin during the formation of HCC presented an increasing tendency.Expression of p53 did not noticeably relate to that of bcl-2,bax,and survivin,whereas expression of bcl-2 and bax was closely related.In HCC,p53 did not present a distinct relation to cell apoptosis,whereas its high level expression was probably related to liver cell proliferation.Survivin negetively correlated apoptosis index,and its overexpression could inhibit cell apoptosis.CONCLUSION:Apoptosis-related genes p53,bcl-2,bax,and survivin are all related to the occurrence of HCC.The anti-apoptosis effect of bcl-2 is influenced by bax,and ratio bcl/bax reflects more correctly the extent of cell apoptosis.Xiao-Xian Duan Jing-Sheng Ou Yuan Li Jian-Jia Su Chao Ou Chun Yang Hui-Fen Yue Ke-Chen Ban 2005World Journal of Gastroenterology2005,11,30:38
9Spatial and temporal variation of particulate matter and gaseous pollutants in 26 cities in China显示文摘O3and PM2.5were introduced into the newly revised air quality standard system in February 2012, representing a milestone in the history of air pollution control, and China's urban air quality will be evaluated using six factors(SO2, NO2, O3, CO, PM2.5and PM10) from the beginning of 2013. To achieve the new air quality standard, it is extremely important to have a primary understanding of the current pollution status in various cities. The spatial and temporal variations of the air pollutants were investigated in 26 pilot cities in China from August 2011 to February 2012, just before the new standard was executed. Hourly averaged SO2, NO2and PM10were observed in 26 cities, and the pollutants O3, CO and PM2.5were measured in 15 of the 26 cities. The concentrations of SO2and CO were much higher in the cities in north China than those in the south. As for O3and NO2, however, there was no significant diference between northern and southern cities. Fine particles were found to account for a large proportion of airborne particles, with the ratio of PM2.5to PM10ranging from 55% to 77%. The concentrations of PM2.5(57.5 μg/m3) and PM10(91.2 μg/m3) were much higher than the values(PM2.5: 11.2 μg/m3; PM10 : 35.6 μg/m3) recommended by the World Health Organization. 10Hi-TOM: a platform for high-throughput tracking of mutations induced by CRISPR/Cas systems显示文摘The CRISPR/Cas system has been extensively applied to make precise genetic modifications in various organisms. Despite its importance and widespread use, large-scale mutation screening remains time-consuming, labour-intensive and costly. Here, we developed Hi-TOM(available at http://gffzz103f3ce5d9b14419huo0bvq59vqwk6vv6.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/hi-tom/), an online tool to track the mutations with precise percentage for multiple samples and multiple target sites. We also described a corresponding next-generation sequencing(NGS) library construction strategy by fixing the bridge sequences and barcoding primers. Analysis of the samples from rice, hexaploid wheat and human cells reveals that the Hi-TOM tool has high reliability and sensitivity in tracking various mutations, especially complex chimeric mutations frequently induced by genome editing. Hi-TOM does not require special design of barcode primers,cumbersome parameter configuration or additional data analysis. 11Risk factors for complications associated with upper gastrointestinal foreign bodies显示文摘AIM: To investigate predictive risk factors associated with complications in the endoscopic removal of foreign bodies from the upper gastrointestinal tract.METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 194 patients with a diagnosis of foreign body impaction in the upper gastrointestinal tract,confirmed by endoscopy,at two university hospital in South Korea.Patient demographic data,including age,gender,intention to ingestion,symptoms at admission,and comorbidities,were collected.Clinical features of the foreign bodies,such as type,size,sharpness of edges,number,and location,were analyzed.Endoscopic data those were analyzed included duration of foreign body impaction,duration of endoscopic performance,endoscopic device,days of hospitalization,complication rate,30-d mortality rate,and the number of operationsrelated to foreign body removal.RESULTS: The types of upper gastrointestinal foreign bodies included fish bones,drugs,shells,meat,metal,and animal bones.The locations of impacted foreign bodies were the upper esophagus(57.2%),mid esophagus(28.4%),stomach(10.8%),and lower esophagus(3.6%).The median size of the foreign bodies was 26.2 ± 16.7 mm.Among 194 patients,endoscopic removal was achieved in 189,and complications developed in 51 patients(26.9%).Significant complications associated with foreign body impaction and removal included deep lacerations with minor bleeding(n = 31,16%),ulcer(n = 11,5.7%),perforation(n = 3,1.5%),and abscess(n = 1,0.5%).Four patients underwent operations because of incomplete endoscopic foreign body extraction.In multivariate analyses,risk factors for endoscopic complications and failure were sharpness(HR = 2.48,95%CI: 1.07-5.72; P = 0.034) and a greater than 12-h duration of impaction(HR = 2.42,95%CI: 1.12-5.25,P = 0.025).CONCLUSION: In cases of longer than 12 h since foreign body ingestion or sharp-pointed objects,rapid endoscopic intervention should be provided in patients with ingested foreign bodies.Kyong Hee Hong Yoon Jae Kim Jae Hak Kim Song Wook Chun Hee Man Kim Jae Hee Cho 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,26:35

13Short-term entecavir therapy of chronic severe hepatitis B显示文摘BACKGROUND:Chronic severe hepatitis B patients often have limited survival.This investigation aimed to evaluate the short-term effects of nucleoside analog therapy on chronic severe hepatitis B. METHODS:We retrospectively,randomly collected the data of 129 chronic severe hepatitis B patients:55 were treated with entecavir,and the remaining 74 were not treated with nucleoside analogues. RESULTS:No significant difference in short-term survival rate was found between the group treated with entecavir and that treated without nucleoside analogues.Although entecavir greatly reduced HBV replication in different periods of therapy(P<0.001),the model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score and liver function(alanine aminotransferase,albumin,bilirubin,prothrombin time) showed no significant change.No significant differences were found in MELD scores and liver function in patients with different HBV DNA levels(≤104copies/ml,>10 4 to<10 6 copies/ml,≥10 6 copies/ml).Nor correlation was observed between HBV DNA levels and MELD scores in different periods of therapy(P>0.05).The HBV DNA levels of patients who survived for over 3 months or less than 3 months were not significantly different either.However, the MELD score and parameters of liver function(albumin, bilirubin,prothrombin time)were different between the two groups(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:These results suggest that short-term suppression of HBV replication may not slow down the progression of liver failure in patients with chronic severe hepatitis B.Chen, Jun Han, Jian-Hua Liu, Chun Yu, Ren-He Li, Fa-Zhao Li, Qun-Fang Gong, Guo-Zhong 2009Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2009,8,3:31

15Preliminary engineering application of microseismic monitoring technique to rockburst prediction in tunneling of Jinping Ⅱ project显示文摘Monitoring and prediction of rockburst remain to be worldwide challenges in geotechnical engineering.In hydropower,transportation and other engineering fields in China,more deep,long and large tunnels have been under construction in recent years and underground caverns are more evidently featured by 'long,large,deep and in group',which bring in many problems associated with rock mechanics problems at great depth,especially rockburst.Rockbursts lead to damages to not only underground structures and equipments but also personnel safety.It has been a major technical bottleneck in future deep underground engineering in China.In this paper,compared with earthquake prediction,the feasibility in principle of monitoring and prediction of rockbursts is discussed,considering the source zones,development cycle and scale.The authors think the feasibility of rockburst prediction can be understood in three aspects:(1) the heterogeneity of rock is the main reason for the existence of rockburst precursors;(2) deformation localization is the intrinsic cause of rockburst;and(3) the interaction between target rock mass and its surrounding rock mass is the external cause of rockburst.As an engineering practice,the application of microseismic monitoring techniques during tunnel construction of Jinping II Hydropower Station was reported.It is found that precursory microcracking exists prior to most rockbursts,which could be captured by the microseismic monitoring system.The stress concentration is evident near structural discontinuities(such as faults or joints),which shall be the focus of rockburst monitoring.It is concluded that,by integrating the microseismic monitoring and the rock failure process simulation,the feasibility of rockburst prediction is expected to be enhanced.Chun'an Tang Jimin Wang Jingjian Zhang 2010Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2010,2,3:32
