| 1 | Field experiment on a robust hierarchical metropolitan quantum cryptography network显示文摘A hierarchical metropolitan quantum cryptography network upon the inner-city commercial telecom fiber cables is reported in this paper. The seven-user network contains a four-node backbone net with one node acting as the subnet gateway, a two-user subnet and a single-fiber access link, which is realized by the Faraday-Michelson interferometer set-ups. The techniques of the quantum router, optical switch and trusted relay are assembled here to guarantee the feasibility and expandability of the quantum cryptography network. Five nodes of the network are located in the government departments and the secure keys generated by the quantum key distribution network are utilized to encrypt the instant video, sound, text messages and confidential files transmitting between these bureaus. | 2 | Effect of filter-feeding fish silver carp on phytoplankton species and size distribution in surface water:A field study in water works显示文摘Silver carp were introduced into the pre-sedimentation pond to control excessive phytoplankton in raw water.The effectiveness of the filter-feeding silver carp on phytoplankton control and the effect of silver carp on phytoplankton community were investigated.The results showed that Microcystis could be effectively removed by silver carp stocked in the pre-sedimentation pond,and simultaneously,the concentration of single-cell phytoplankton increased obviously.The difference in phytoplankton species and singlecell phytoplankton size between in the water and in the gut of silver carp indicated that phytoplankton smaller than 5 μm,such as Chamydomonas and Platymonas,were almost not be filtered by silver carp,phytoplankton with the size between 5 and 20 μm could be partly filtered,and large size phytoplankton,mainly colony-forming Microcystis could be filtered almost completely.These filterfeeding characteristics directly caused the phytoplankton size distribution biased toward miniaturization.Therefore,this biological treatment using silver carp could be applied only to deal with groups of Microcystis-dominated eutrophic water,and was not appropriate in water bodies where single-cell micro phytoplankton were dominant.Especially when silver carp are used in water treatment,a cautious attitude should be taken based on the evaluation of phytoplankton biomass and species structure features in raw water. | Hua Ma Fuyi Cui Zhiquan Liu Zhenqiang Fan Wenjie He Peijun Yin | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,2: | 9 |

| 5 | Feed conversion ratio,residual feed intake and cholecystokinin type A receptor gene polymorphisms are associated with feed intake and average daily gain in a Chinese local chicken population显示文摘Background: The feed conversion ratio(FCR) and residual feed intake(RFI) are common indexes in measuring feed efficiency for livestock. RFI is a feed intake adjusted for requirements for maintenance and production so these two traits are related. Similarly, FCR is related to feed intake and weight gain because it is their ratio. Cholecystokinin type A receptor(CCKAR) plays an important role in animal digestive process. We examined the interplay of these three parameters in a local Chinese chicken population.Results: The feed intake(FI) and body weights(BW) of 1,841 individuals were monitored on a daily basis from 56 to 105 d of age. There was a strong correlation between RFI and average daily feed intake(ADFI) and a negative correlation between the FCR and daily gain(r_g=-0.710). Furthermore, we identified 51 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in the CCKAR and 4 of these resulted in amino acid mutations. The C334A mutation was specifically associated with FI and the expected feed intake(EFI)(P < 0.01) and significantly associated with the average daily gain(ADG)(P < 0.05). G1290A was significantly associated with FI and EFI(P < 0.05).Conclusion: FCR is apply to weight selecting, and RFI is more appropriate if the breeding focus is feed intake. | 8 | Oxalate-assisted morphological effect of NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+on photoelectrochemical performance for dye-sensitized solar cells显示文摘In this study. we have employed a facile oxalate-assisted hydrothermal approach to tailor the morphology of β-NaYF_4:Er^(3+),Yb^(3+)(NYFEY) powders through the variation of the molar ratio of oxalate ions(Oxa^(2-)) and rare earth ions(RE^(3+)) in the range of 0.5:1.1:1.2:1, 5:1. and 10:1. The obtained results show that the crystallinity, particle size and upconversion luminescence intensity of the as-synthesized NYFEY particles are gradually decreased as the Oxa^(2-):RE^(3+) molar ratio increases from 0.5:1 to 10:1. For the purpose of photoelectrochemical performance evaluation,the as-synthesized NYFEY particles with different morphologies are incorporated into the nanocrystalline TiO2 films to form the multifunctional nano-and sub-micro meter composite photoanodes of dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSCs). A short-circuit current density(Jsc) of 14.26 mA/cm^2 and power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 7.31% are obtained for DSSCs prepared with hexagonal rod-like NYFEY crystals,evidencing an increase of 29.8% compared with DSSCs prepared with only TiO_2 nanoparticles. Magnetic pearls are a magnetic form of iron oxide that mainly consists of Fe2O3 which are recovered from a high-volume power plant fly ash from pulverized coal combustion. Due to its abundance, low price and particular physical and chemical properties, magnetic pearls can be used as a heavy medium for minerals or solid waste dry separation based on density difference. This paper introduces the properties of magnetic pearls and compares the performance of magnetic pearls fluidised bed operation with or without an external magnetic field. | 10 | 4-Formyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-phenol: an ESIPT chromophore显示文摘In the present work, excited state intramolecular proton transfer(ESIPT) emission properties of a new benzotriazole derivative 4-formyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-phenol(C1) were studied. 4-Formyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-methoxy-benzene(C2), 4-formyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-phenyl acetate(C3) and 4-methyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-phenol(C4) were used as the reference molecules.1H NMR chemical shift of hydroxy group in C1 was located at more down field than that of C4 or p-hydroxy-benzaldehyde(C5), respectively. C1 showed two absorption bands in the range of 260–400 nm zones in various solvents, while C2 and C3 exhibited single absorption band. The equal molar mixtures of C2/C5 or C3/C5 showed single absorption band.C2 and C3 displayed single fluorescence emission band in various solvents, while C1 exhibited dual emission bands in some strong polar solvents. Furthermore, the second emission band in these strong polar solvents showed the large Stokes shift. The results show that the second emission band of C1 was produced by ESIPT. C2 and C3 could not undergo ESIPT due to no hydroxy group. | 12 | Electronic effect on the optical properties and sensing ability of AIEgens with ESIPT process based on salicylaldehyde azine显示文摘Two novel AIE-active salicylaldehyde azine(SAA) derivatives with a typical excited-state intramolecular proton transfer(ESIPT) process are prepared by introducing electron-withdrawing and donating groups at para-position of phenolic hydroxyl group(CN-SAA and TPA-SAA). The effect of the proton activity in SAA framework on their optical behaviors is investigated spectroscopically. The results from NMR and solvation measurements show that the proton of phenolic hydroxyl group has higher activity when there are electron-withdrawing groups, and the absorption and fluorescence spectra in buffers with different pH also provide the same results. After inviting F. as a nucleophilic probe, this proton activity difference in CN-SAA and TPA-SAA becomes more obvious. The potential application of both molecules is investigated. TPA-SAA exhibits good quantitative sensing ability towards F. with a fluorescence 'turn-on' mode, whereas the aggregates of TPA-SAA can selectively and sensitively detect Cu2+ in aqueous solution. From these results, a structure-property relationship is established: the occurrence of ESIPT process will become much easier when linking electron-withdrawing groups at the para-position of phenolic hydroxyl group(e.g., CN-SAA),and it is better to introduce electron-donating groups to enhance the sensing ability towards ions(e.g., TPA-SAA). | 13 | Studies on abacavir-induced hypersensitivity reaction:a successful example of translation of pharmacogenetics to personalized medicine显示文摘Abacavir is an effective nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor used to treat human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) infected patients.Its main side effect is hypersensitivity reaction(HSR).The incidence of the HSR is associated with ethnicity among patients exposed to abacavir,and retrospective and prospective studies show a significantly increased risk of abacavir-induced HSR in human leukocyte antigen(HLA)-B*57:01-carrying patients.Immunological studies indicated that abacavir interacts specifically with HLA-B*57:01 and changed the binding specificity between the HLA molecule and the HLA-presented endogenous peptide repertoire,leading to a systemic autoimmune reaction.HLA-B*57:01 screening,combined with patch testing,had clinically predictive value and cost-effective impact in reducing the incidence of abacavir-induced HSR regardless of the HLA-B*57:01 prevalence in the population.Therefore,the US Food and Drug Administration(FDA) and international HIV treatment guidelines recommend a routine HLA-B*57:01 screening prior to abacavir treatment to decrease false positive diagnosis and prevent abacavir-induced HSR.The studies of abacavir-induced HSR and the implementation of the HLA-B*57:01 screening in the clinic represent a successful example of the use of pharmacogenetics for personalized diagnosis and therapy. | GUO YongLi SHI LeMing HONG HuiXiao SU ZhenQiang FUSCOE James NING BaiTang | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,2: | 3 |
| 14 | High-performance flexible BiCMOS electronics based on single-crystal Si nanomembrane显示文摘In this work,we have demonstrated for the first time integrated flexible bipolar-complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(BiCMOS)thin-film transistors(TFTs)based on a transferable single crystalline Si nanomembrane(Si NM)on a single piece of bendable plastic substrate.The n-channel,p-channel metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors(N-MOSFETs&P-MOSFETs),and NPN bipolar junction transistors(BJTs)were realized together on a 340-nm thick Si NM layer with minimized processing complexity at low cost for advanced flexible electronic applications.The fabrication process was simplified by thoughtfully arranging the sequence of necessary ion implantation steps with carefully selected energies,doses and anneal conditions,and by wisely combining some costly processing steps that are otherwise separately needed for all three types of transistors.All types of TFTs demonstrated excellent DC and radio-frequency(RF)characteristics and exhibited stable transconductance and current gain under bending conditions.Overall,Si NM-based flexible BiCMOS TFTs offer great promises for high-performance and multifunctional future flexible electronics applications and is expected to provide a much larger and more versatile platform to address a broader range of applications.Moreover,the flexible BiCMOS process proposed and demonstrated here is compatible with commercial microfabrication technology,making its adaptation to future commercial use straightforward. | Jung-Hun Seo Kan Zhang Munho Kim Weidong Zhou Zhenqiang Ma | 2017 | npj Flexible Electronics2017,1,1: | 3 |

| 17 | Peroxyacetyl nitrate observed in Beijing in August from 2005 to 2009显示文摘Measurements of peroxyacetyl nitrate(PAN) were made at a Beijing urban site each August from2005 to 2009. Over this 5-year period, the average PAN concentration for August in each year increased from 3(2005) to 11.7 μg/m3(2007); however, it decreased rapidly in 2008(4.1 μg/m3).Generally, the variation over the 5 years showed a rise in the first part of the study period,followed by a decline. We considered two categories of local and regional air masses in this study, which revealed that the PAN concentration in Beijing was affected mainly by southeastern air masses. The August PAN variation was influenced predominantly by local air masses in 2005,but by 2009 regional air masses had become more important. This study showed the level and variation of PAN in the month of August in 5 consecutive years for the first time, and proved that control measures are useful in decreasing photochemical pollution; hence, these measures are probably feasible for other megacities too. Herein, we developed a new strategy of applying aggregation-induced emission (AIE) phenomenon to the molecular design of LCs towards LLCs. In this report, a calamitic liquid crystal based on tolane with AIE characteristics was successfully synthesized and the chemical structure was characterized by 1H, 13C NMR, and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) high-resolution mass spectra. The fluorescence behavior was studied by fluorescence spectroscopy and the liquid crystal phase behaviors were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarized optical microscopy (POM). The crystal structure was obtained by X-ray diffraction crystallography with P1 space group. | 20 | Theoretical prediction for effective properties and progressive failure of textile composites:a generalized multi-scale approach显示文摘A generalized analytical model is developed to predict progressive failure behavior of several types of textile composites,including plain weave composites,twill weave composites,two-dimensional tri-axially braided composites and warpreinforced 2.5-dimensional braided composites.In this model,the unit cell(UC)of composite is firstly identified and reconstructed into a refined lamina structure with multiple equivalent lamina elements(ELEs)based on apt geometrical approximation and assumptions.Secondly,two-way coupled stress-strain responses within the UC(macro-scale)and ELE(meso-scale)are established through a universal series-parallel model(SPM).Finally,a progressive damage model,which consists of damage initiation criteria and a stiffness evolution strategy,is employed to predict damage behavior of the ELE.The analytical results including mechanical properties and progressive failure process are validated against the existing numerical and experimental ones in literature.The validated analytical model is then used to study the effects of global fiber volume fraction,braided angle,shear failure coefficient and selected failure criteria on stiffness,strength and failure process.The present results demonstrate the efficiency and generic capability of the present analytical model for predicting the mechanical responses of a range of textile composites. | Haoyuan Dang Peng Liu Yinxiao Zhang Zhenqiang Zhao Liyong Tong Chao Zhang Yulong Li | 2021 | Acta Mechanica Sinica2021,37,8: | 3 |
