1Rattle-Type Silica Colloidal Particles Prepared by a Surface- Protected Etching Process显示文摘This paper explores the capability of the“surface-protected etching”process for the creation of rattle-type SiO_(2)@void@SiO_(2) colloidal structures featuring a mesoporous silica shell and a mesoporous movable silica core.The surface-protected etching process involves stabilization of the particle surface using a polymer ligand,and then selective etching of the interior to form hollow structures.In this paper,this strategy has been extended to the formation of rattle-like structures by etching SiO_(2)@SiO_(2) core shell particles which are synthesized by a two-step sol gel process.The key is to introduce a protecting polymer of polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)to the surface of both core and shell in order to tailor their relative stability against chemical etching.Upon reacting with NaOH,the outer layer silica becomes a hollow shell as only the surface layer is protected by PVP and the interior is removed,while the core remains its original size thanks to the protection of PVP on its surface.This process can be carried out at room temperature without the need of additional templates or complicated heterogeneous coating procedures.The etching process also results in the rattle-type colloids having mesoscale pores with two distinct average sizes.In our demonstration of a model drug delivery process,such mesoporous structures show an interesting two-step elution profile which is believed to be related to the unique porous rattle structures.Qiao Zhang Jianping Ge James Goebl Yongxing Hu Zhenda Lu Yadong Yin 2009Nano Research2009,2,7:18

3Biochemical sensing in graphene-enhanced microfiber resonators with individual molecule sensitivity and selectivity显示文摘Photonic sensors that are able to detect and track biochemical molecules offer powerful tools for information acquisition in applications ranging from environmental analysis to medical diagnosis.The ultimate aim of biochemical sensing is to achieve both quantitative sensitivity and selectivity.As atomically thick films with remarkable optoelectronic tunability,graphene and its derived materials have shown unique potential as a chemically tunable platform for sensing,thus enabling significant performance enhancement,versatile functionalization and flexible device integration.Here,we demonstrate a partially reduced graphene oxide(prGO)inner-coated and fiber-calibrated Fabry-Perot dye resonator for biochemical detection.Versatile functionalization in the prGO film enables the intracavity fluorescent resonance energy transfer(FRET)to be chemically selective in the visible band.Moreover,by measuring the intermode interference via noise canceled beat notes and locked-in heterodyne detection with Hz-level precision,we achieved individual molecule sensitivity for dopamine,nicotine and single-strand DNA detection.This work combines atomic-layer nanoscience and high-resolution optoelectronics,providing a way toward high-performance biochemical sensors and systems.Zhongxu Cao Baicheng Yao Chenye Qin Run Yang Yanhong Guo Yufeng Zhang Yu Wu Lei Bi Yuanfu Chen Zhenda Xie Gangding Peng Shu-Wei Huang Chee Wei Wong Yunjiang Rao 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:8
4Drone-based entanglement distribution towards mobile quantum networks显示文摘Satellites have shown free-space quantum-communication ability;however,they are orbit-limited from full-time all-location coverage.Meanwhile,practical quantum networks require satellite constellations,which are complicated and expensive,whereas the airborne mobile quantum communication may be a practical alternative to offering full-time all-location multi-weather coverage in a cost-effective way.Here,we demonstrate the first mobile entanglement distribution based on drones,realizing multi-weather operation including daytime and rainy nights,with a Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt S-parameter measured to be 2.41±0.14 and 2.49±0.06,respectively.Such a system shows unparalleled mobility,flexibility and reconfigurability compared to the existing satellite and fiber-based quantum communication,and reveals its potential to establish a multinode quantum network,with a scalable design using symmetrical lens diameter and single-mode-fiber coupling.All key technologies have been developed to pack quantum nodes into lightweight mobile platforms for local-area coverage,and arouse further technical improvements to establish wide-area quantum networks with high-altitude mobile communication.Hua-Ying Liu Xiao-Hui Tian Changsheng Gu Pengfei Fan Xin Ni Ran Yang Ji-Ning Zhang Mingzhe Hu Jian Guo Xun Cao Xiaopeng Hu Gang Zhao Yan-Qing Lu Yan-Xiao Gong Zhenda Xie Shi-Ning Zhu 2020National Science Review2020,7,5:6

7Narrowband photonic quantum entanglement with counterpropagating domain engineering显示文摘Narrowband photonic entanglement is a crucial resource for long-distance quantum communication and quantum information processing,including quantum memories.We demonstrate the first polarization entanglement with 7.1 GHz inherent bandwidth by counterpropagating domain engineering,which is also confirmed by Hong–Ou–Mandel interference with 155-ps base-to-base dip width and(97.1±0.59)%high visibility.The entanglement is harnessed with 18.5-standard-deviations Bell inequality violation,and further characterized with state tomography of(95.71±0.61)%fidelity.Such narrowband entanglement sets a cornerstone for practical quantum information applications.YI-CHEN LIU DONG-JIE GUO RAN YANG CHANG-WEI SUN JIA-CHEN DUAN YAN-XIAO GONG ZHENDA XIE SHI-NING ZHU 2021Photonics Research2021,9,10:1

92 μm optical frequency comb generation via optical parametric oscillation from a lithium niobate optical superlattice box resonator显示文摘Optical parametric oscillators(OPOs) can downconvert the pump laser to longer wavelengths with octave separation via χ^((2)), which is widely used for laser wavelength extension including mid-infrared(MIR) generation.Such a process can be integrated in monolithic resonators, being compact and low in threshold. In this work, we show that the monolithic χ^((2))mini-OPO can also be used for optical frequency comb generation around 2096 nm and enters the boundary of MIR range. A new geometry called an optical superlattice box resonator is developed for this realization with near-material-limited quality factor of 4.0 × 10^(7). Only a continuous-wave near-infrared pump laser is required, with OPO threshold of 80 mW and output power up to 340 mW. Revival temporal profiles are measured at a detectable repetition frequency of 1.426 GHz, and narrow beat note linewidth of less than 10 Hz shows high comb coherence. These results are in good agreement with our simulation for a stable comb generation. 15LiNbO_(3)crystals:from bulk to film显示文摘Lithium niobate^(1,2) is a ferroelectric crystal that features superior electrooptical,nonlinear optical,and acoustic optical performance,and it is thus prominent in various optoelectronic applications.Recent breakthroughs in the fabrication of thin film lithium niobate(TFLN)combine the unique features of the bulk crystal onto an integrated platform with submicron light confinement,driving new records in reducing the energy consumption for high-speed electro-optical modulation,3–5 the footprint for acoustic wave filtering,6 and the power requirement for efficient optical frequency conversion.7–9 TFLN is mainly fabricated using the smart cut technique,10,11 which was developed for silicon-oninsulator materials12 and is known for its capability for manufacturing high-quality,large-sized crystalline wafer.Revolutionary performances are expected by moving from bulk to TFLN,e.g.,in the form of lithium-niobate-on-insulator(LNOI)optical communication and wireless communication devices,and this trend may also lead to fundamental breakthroughs in optical computation,microwave photonics,and quantum optics,as discussed below.Zhenda Xie Shining Zhu 2022Advanced Photonics2022,4,3:1

19Realization of a source-device-independent quantum random number generator secured by nonlocal dispersion cancellation显示文摘Quantum random number generators(QRNGs)can provide genuine randomness by exploiting the intrinsic probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics,which play important roles in many applications.However,the true randomness acquisition could be subjected to attacks from untrusted devices involved or their deviations from the theoretical modeling in real-life implementation.We propose and experimentally demonstrate a source-device-independent QRNG,which enables one to access true random bits with an untrusted source device.The random bits are generated by measuring the arrival time of either photon of the time–energy entangled photon pairs produced from spontaneous parametric downconversion,where the entanglement is testified through the observation of nonlocal dispersion cancellation.In experiment,we extract a generation rate of 4 Mbps by a modified entropic uncertainty relation,which can be improved to gigabits per second by using advanced single-photon detectors.Our approach provides a promising candidate for QRNGs with no characterization or error-prone source devices in practice.Ji-Ning Zhang Ran Yang Xinhui Li Chang-Wei Sun Yi-Chen Liu Ying Wei Jia-Chen Duan Zhenda Xie Yan-Xiao Gong Shi-Ning Zhu 2023Advanced Photonics2023,5,3:0
20Unveiling non-radiative center control in CsPbBr_(3) nanocrystals:A comprehensive comparative analysis of hot injection and ligandassisted reprecipitation approaches显示文摘Metal-halide perovskite nanocrystals(NCs)have gained significant attention in the field of optoelectronic and photonic devices due to their promising applications.Despite their exceptional optical properties,the impact of different synthetic strategies on the fundamental nature of NCs,such as nonradiative recombination centers,remains poorly understood.In this study,we investigated the photophysical properties of CsPbBr_(3) NCs synthesized using two distinct methods,hot injection and ligand-assisted reprecipitation,at the individual particle level.We observed different blinking behaviors under specific photoexcitation power densities and proposed,through intensity-lifetime analysis and Monte-Carlo simulations,that these different synthetic strategies can fabricate NCs with similar crystal structures but distinct surface quenchers with varying energy levels,which significantly affected the photo-induced blinking-down and blinking-up behaviors in individual NCs.Our findings indicate a practical and feasible approach for controlling defect engineering in perovskite NCs,with significant implications for their use in optoelectronic and other technological applications.Daocheng Hong Yuchen Zhang Shuhan Pan Hanyu Liu Wei Mao Wanli Zhang Yuhui Ye Zhihong Wei Xuxing Lu Xiaoyong Wang Zhenda Lu Yuxi Tian 2024Nano Research2024,17,5:0
