2Using a global reference sample set and a cropland map for area estimation in China显示文摘A technically transparent and freely available reference sample set for validation of global land cover mapping was recently established to assess the accuracies of land cover maps with multiple resolutions.This sample set can be used to estimate areas because of its equal-area hexagon-based sampling design.The capabilities of these sample set-based area estimates for cropland were investigated in this paper.A 30-m cropland map for China was consolidated using three thematic maps(cropland,forest and wetland maps)to reduce confusion between cropland and forest/wetland.We compared three area estimation methods using the sample set and the 30 m cropland map.The methods investigated were:(1)pixel counting from a complete coverage map,(2)direct estimation from reference samples,and(3)model-assisted estimation combining the map with samples.Our results indicated that all three methods produced generally consistent estimates which agreed with cropland area measured from an independent national land use dataset.Areas estimated from the reference sample set were less biased by comparing with a National Land Use Dataset of China(NLUD-C).This study indicates that the reference sample set can be used as an alternative source to estimate areas over large regions.YULe LI XueCao LI CongCong ZHAO YuanYuan NIU ZhenGuo HUANG HuaBing WANG Jie CHENG YuQi LU Hui SI YaLi YU ChaoQing FU HaoHuan GONG Peng 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,2:1

6Energy loss of tens keV charged particles traveling in the hot dense carbon plasma显示文摘The energy loss of charged particles, including electrons, protons, and α-particles with tens keV initial energy E0, traveling in the hot dense carbon(C) plasma for densities from 2.281 to 22.81 g/cm3 and temperatures from 400 to 1500 eV is systematically and quantitatively studied by using the dimensional continuation method. The behaviors of different charged particles are readily distinguishable from each other. Firstly, because an ion is thousands times heavier than an electron, the penetration distance of the electron is much longer than that of proton and α-particle traveling in the plasma. Secondly, most energy of electron projectile with E0 < 100 keV deposits into the electron species of C plasma, while for the cases of proton and α-particle with E0 < 100 keV,about more than half energy transfers into the ion species of C plasma. A simple decreasing law of the penetration distance as a function of the plasma density is fitted, and different behaviors of each projectile particle can be clearly found from the fitted data.We believe that with the advanced progress of the present experimental technology, the findings shown here could be confirmed in ion-stopping experiments in the near future.ZhenGuo Fu ZhiGang Wang Bin He DaFang Li Ping Zhang 2016Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2016,59,8:0
7Orbital magnetization of the electron gas on a two-dimensional kagome' lattice under a perpendicular magnetic field显示文摘The orbital magnetization of the electron gas on a two-dimensional kagome' lattice under a perpendicular magnetic field is theoretically investigated.The interplay between the lattice geometry and magnetic field induces nontrivial k-space Chern invariant in the magnetic Brillouin zone,which turns to result in profound effects on the magnetization properties.We show that the Berry-phase term in the magnetization gives a paramagnetic contribution,while the conventional term brought about by the magnetic response of the magnetic Bloch bands produces a diamagnetic contribution.As a result,the superposition of these two components gives rise to a delicate oscillatory structure in the magnetization curve when varying the electron filling factor.The relationship between this oscillatory behavior and the Hofstadter energy spectrum is revealed by selectively discussing the magnetization and its two components at the commensurate fluxes of f = 1/4,1/3,and 1/6,respectively.In particular,we reveal as a typical example the fractal structure in the magnetic oscillations by tuning the commensurate flux around f = 1/4.The finite-temperature effect on the magnetization is also discussed.YUAN ZiGang WANG ZhiGang FU ZhenGuo LI ShuShen ZHANG Ping 2012Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2012,55,10:0
8SYP-5 regulates meiotic thermotolerance in Caenorhabditis elegans显示文摘Meiosis produces the haploid gametes required by all sexually reproducing organisms,occurring in specific temperature ranges in different organisms.However,how meiotic thermotolerance is regulated remains largely unknown.Using the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans,here,we identified the synaptonemal complex(SC)protein SYP-5 as a critical regulator of meiotic thermotolerance.syp-5-null mutants maintained a high percentage of viable progeny at 20℃ but produced significantly fewer viable progeny at 25℃,a permissive temperature in wild-type worms.Cytological analysis of meiotic events in the mutants revealed that while SC assembly and disassembly,as well as DNA double-strand break repair kinetics,were not affected by the elevated temperature,crossover designation,and bivalent formation were significantly affected.More severe homolog segregation errors were also observed at elevated temperature.A temperature switching assay revealed that late meiotic prophase events were not temperature-sensitive and that meiotic defects during pachytene stage were responsible for the reduced viability of syp-5 mutants at the elevated temperature.Moreover,SC polycomplex formation and hexanediol sensitivity analysis suggested that SYP-5 was required for the normal properties of the SC,and charge-interacting elements in SC components were involved in regulating meiotic thermotolerance.Together,these findings provide a novel molecular mechanism for meiotic thermotolerance regulation.Yuanyuan Liu Qiuchen Zhao Hui Nie Fengguo Zhang Tingting Fu Zhenguo Zhang Feifei Qi Ruoxi Wang Jun Zhou Jinmin Gao 2021Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2021,13,9:0
