1Coseismic response of groundwater level in the Three Gorges well network and its relationship to aquifer parameters显示文摘The 12 May 2008 Ms 8.0 Wenchuan earthquake caused notable changes in the water levels of wells in the Three Gorges area. This work examines the relationship between these coseismic changes in water level and the changes in aquifer parameters. Three wells in the area with good responses to earth tide were chosen for analysis. Water-level data from February to June 2008 were used to calculate the aquifer transmissivity, permeability and specific storage of the rocks, and analyze the relationship between the coseismic responses of the wells and their aquifer parameters. The results show that the Wenchuan earthquake changed these parameters considerably, thereby controlling co- and postseismic variations of water level. The values of these parameters prior to the earthquake are linearly related with the amplitudes of coseismic variations in water level. The larger the aquifer transmissivity, the more remarkable the coseismic change in water level. During the earthquake, changes in aquifer parameters were found to be associated with coseismic variations in water level, with the larger changes occurring when the coseismic variation in water level was larger. The tectonic setting has a certain degree of influence on the co- and postseismic changes in water level. The permeability structures of the fault zone appear to determine the manner of coseismic variation in water level. Moreover, it seems that the water level in wells where groundwater converges more easily can recover faster following an earthquake. 2Crack dynamic propagation properties and arrest mechanism under impact loading显示文摘Crack dynamic propagation and arrest behaviors have received extensive attention over the years.However,there still remain many questions,e.g.under what conditions will a running crack come to arrest?In this paper,drop weight impact(DWI)tests were conducted to investigate crack arrest mechanism using single cleavage triangle(SCT)rock specimens.Green sandstone was selected to prepare the SCT specimens.Dynamic stress intensity factors(DSIFs)were calculated by ABAQUS code,and the critical DSIFs were determined by crack propagation speeds and fracture time measured by crack propagation gauges(CPGs).The test results show that the critical DSIF at propagation decreases with crack propagation speed.Numerical simulation for SCT specimens under different loading waves was performed using AUTODYN code.The reflected compressive wave from the incident and transmitted plates can induce crack arrests during propagation,and the number of arrest times increases with the wave length.In order to eliminate the effect of the incident and transmitted plates,models consisting of only one SCT specimen without incident and transmitted plates were established,and the same trapezoid-shaped loading wave was applied to the SCT specimen.The results show that for the SCT specimen with transmitted boundary(analogous to an infinite plate),the trapezoid-shaped loading wave cannot induce crack arrest anymore.The numerical results can well describe the occurrence of crack arrest in the experiments.Yuqing Dong Zheming Zhu Li Ren Lei Zhou Peng Ying Meng Wang 2020Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,6:3

4Synthesis,crystal structures, and magnetic properties of two three-dimensional octacyanotungstate(IV)-based bimetallic frameworks with 4,4′-bipyridine dioxide (4,4′-dpdo)显示文摘The reaction of [HN(n-C4H9)3]3[WV(CN)8]·4H2O, 4,4′-bipyridine dioxide(4,4′-dpdo), and MnCl2·4H2O or CuCl2·2H2O gives two new three-dimensional octacyanometalate-based bimetallic assemblies, {[Mn2 (4,4′-dpdo)(H2O)4] [WIV(CN)8]}·6H2O (1) and {[Cu2(4,4′-dpdo)(H2O)][W(CN)8]}·CH3OH·H2O (2). Compound 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group P21212 with cell constants a=10.397(2) -, b= 11.321(2) -, c=12.295(3) - and Z=2, whereas 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c with cell constants a=13.038(3) -, b=13.784(3) -, c=13.225(3) -, β=93.44(3)o and Z=4. In complex 1, each [WIV(CN)8]4- unit with a square antiprismatic geometry is connected to four Mn2 dimers through four bridging CN- ions forming wavelike alternating -W-Mn2-W-Mn2- layers, which are further linked through 4,4′-dpdo ligands coordinated to the Mn ions into a three-dimensional open framework. In complex 2, each [WIV(CN)8]4- ion still adopts a square antiprismatic geometry, whereas it bonds to seven copper ions through seven CN- ions leading to cage-like undulate layers further bridged by 4,4′-dpdo ligands into a three-dimensional network. Due to the bridging role of the long rigid 4,4′-dpdo ligand, there exist plenty of large cavities in the open frameworks of complexes 1 and 2 occupied by solvent clusters containing H2O or CH3OH molecules. To our knowledge, it is noted that 4,4′-dpdo displays a μ-4,4,4′,4′ m ode, which was first experimentally observed, although predicted before. 5Advances in research on earthquake fluids hydrogeology in China:a review显示文摘Monitoring of subsurface fluid(underground fluid)is an important part of efforts for earthquake prediction in China.The nationwide network,which monitors groundwater level,water temperature,and radon and mercury in groundwater,has been constructed in the last decades.Large amounts of abnormal fluid changes before and after major earthquakes have been recorded,providing precious data for research in earthquake sciences.Many studies have been done in earthquake fluid hydrogeology in order to probe the nature of the earthquake.Much progress in earthquake fluid hydrogeology has been made in the last decades.The paper provides a review of the advances in research on earthquake fluid hydrogeology over the last40 years in China.It deals with the following five aspects:(1)an introduction to the development history of monitoring networks construction;(2)cases of different subsurface fluid changes recorded before some majorearthquakes which occurred in the last decades;(3)characteristics of subsurface fluid changes following major earthquakes;(4)mechanism of subsurface fluid changes before and following earthquakes;(5)application of earthquake fluids in the hydrogeology field.Zheming Shi Guangcai Wang Chenglong Liu 2013Earthquake Science2013,26,6:3
6Relationship between the Earth tidal factor and phase lag of groundwater levels in confined aquifers and the Wenchuan M_s8.0 earthquake of 2008显示文摘This work focuses on variations of the Earth tidal factor and phase lag derived from groundwater observations before and after major earthquakes.It is based on an analysis of the data from four observational wells at boundaries between distinct active blocks of China mainland.These wells are also situated on several active fault zones and have exhibited considerable responses to the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake of 2008 in China.We collected hourly records of water levels of these wells from 2007to 2009 and processed these data for analysis.The tidal factors,phase lags,and phase-difference changes of tidal residuals of each well were calculated.We found that when the Wenchuan quake happened,the tidal factors of the 4 wells were changing rapidly,while their phase lags and phase differences of tidal residuals declined swiftly,which may reflect the stress and strain changes of the well-aquifer system during the seismic generation.SHI ZheMing WANG GuangCai 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,10:3
7The Effect of Loading Rates on Crack Dynamic Behavior Under Medium-Low Speed Impacts显示文摘Rock structures are often subjected to dynamic loads,such as blasts,impacts and earthquakes,and their loading rates differ largely.To investigate the effect of loading rates on the dynamic behavior of crack propagation,impact tests were conducted on large single-cleavage semicircle compression(LSCSC)specimens using a drop weight impact test system.Five types of rock materials were selected to prepare the LSCSC specimens,and crack propagation gauges were mounted along the crack propagation paths to measure crack initiation time and propagation speeds.Finite element models were established by using ABAQUS code,and the dynamic stress intensity factors(SIFs)were calculated.The curves of dynamic SIFs versus time were obtained,and the initiation toughness was determined by using these curves and the initiation time measured in the impact tests.The results show that loading rate has a significant effect on crack propagation behavior,and both the crack propagation speed and initiation toughness increase with the loading rate,whereas the delayed fracture time decreases with the increase in loading rate.Peng Ying Zheming Zhu Lei Zhou Meng Wang Yuqing Dong Hao Qiu 2019Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2019,32,1:2

9Coupled GIMP and CPDI material point method in modelling blast-induced three-dimensional rock fracture显示文摘Three-dimensional rock fracture induced by blasting is a highly complex problem and has received considerable attention in geotechnical engineering.The material point method is firstly applied to treat this challenging task.Some inherent weaknesses can be overcome by coupling the generalized interpolation material point(GIMP)and the convected particle domain interpolation technique(CPDI).For the media in the borehole,unchanged GIMP-type particles are used to guarantee a homogenous blast pressure.CPDITetrahedron type particles are employed to avoid the fake numerical fracture near the borehole for the rock material.A blasting experiment using three-dimensional single-borehole rock was simulated to examine the applicability of the coupled model under realistic loading and boundary conditions.A good agreement was achieved between the simulation and experimental results.Moreover,the mechanism of three-dimensional rock fracture was analyzed.It was concluded that rock particle size and material parameters play an important role in rock damage.The reflected tensile waves cause severe damage in the lower part of the model.Rayleigh waves occur on the top face of the rock model to induce a hoop failure band.Duanying Wan Meng Wang Zheming Zhu Fei Wang Lei Zhou Ruifeng Liu Weiting Gao Yun Shu Hu Xiao 2022International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,5:2
10Influence of blasting load directions on tunnel stability in fractured rock mass显示文摘Tunnels in fractured rock masses are typically damaged by dynamic disturbances from various directions.To investigate the influence of blasting load directions on the stability of a tunnel with a precrack nearby,blasting tests were conducted on the physical models of an external crack around a tunnel(ECT)in this study.Failure modes of the tunnels were analysed based on stress wave theory.The Riedel-Hiermaier-Thoma(RHT)material model was employed to perform the numerical simulations on ECT models.Stress distribution around the tunnels and final failure patterns of the tunnels were characterised.The results show that,under blasting loads,the pre-crack propagates and then new cracks initiates on the incident side of the tunnel.These cracks extend towards each other and eventually coalesce.Blasting load directions significantly influence the ultimate failure mode of the tunnel in the fractured rock masses.The new cracks on the shadow side of the tunnel appear at different positions when the blasting stress waves come from various directions.The results are meaningful to the analysis of tunnel stability and optimisation of the tunnel support scheme.Xiaohan Li Zheming Zhu Meng Wang Yun Shu Shuai Deng Dingjun Xiao 2022Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,2:2
11Static field induced magnetic relaxations in dinuclear lanthanide compounds of [phen_2Ln_2(HCOO)_4(HCOO)_(2-2x)(NO_3)_(2x)](1,Ln=Gd and x=0.52; 2, Ln=Er and x=0.90; phen=1,10-phenanthroline)显示文摘Two dinuclear lanthanide (Ln) complexes, formulated as [phen2Ln2(HCOO)4(HCOO)2-2x(NO3)2x](1, Ln=Gd and x=0.52; 2, Ln = Er and x = 0.90; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), were synthesized and characterized. They are isostructural. The dinuclear molecule consists of two Ln 3+ bridged by four formate groups and chelated by phen and formate/nitrate ligands, and the Ln 3+ possesses a coordination environment of distorted tri-capped trigonal prism of LnO 7 N 2 . Both compounds behave as paramagnets between 2 and 300 K, but display two static field induced magnetic relaxation processes. 17Thermal effects on fracture toughness of cracked straight-through Brazilian disk green sandstone and granite显示文摘Cracked straight-through Brazilian disc(CSTBD) samples prepared using two rock materials were used for thermal treatment from room temperature to 700℃. Uniaxial splitting experiments were performed using an automatic electro-hydraulic servo press to study the evolution laws of physical and fracture properties of different deep rock materials under high-temperature geological conditions. The fracture characteristics were measured using an industrial camera and digital image correlation technology to analyze the effect of high temperature on fracture properties and failure modes of the CSTBD samples after different thermal treatments. The micro-damage properties of green sandstone and granite materials were obtained using a scanning electron microscope(SEM). The following conclusions were drawn from the test results:(1) With the increasing temperature, the fracture characteristics of green sandstone and granite change from brittle fracture to plasticity fracture, the longitudinal wave velocity of granite decreases sharply at 600℃, and the damage factor reaches 0.8748 at 700℃.(2) The fracture toughness of green sandstone and granite decreases with increasing temperature;however, the decreasing range of granite is larger than that of green sandstone.(3) As the temperature increases, the fracture morphologies of green sandstone and granite materials become rougher, whereas thermal damage cracks of granite and intergranular fractures inside sandstone as well as pores of sandstone increase.(4) The crack tip opening displacement and peak strain corresponding to peak load increase with the temperature.Lei Zhou Weiting Gao Liyuan Yu Zheming Zhu Jianxing Chen Xingkai Wang 2022Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,5:1

20Ultrafast battery heat dissipation enabled by highly ordered and interconnected hexagonal boron nitride thermal conductive composites显示文摘Heat dissipation involved safety issues are crucial for industrial applications of the high-energy density battery and fast charging technology.While traditional air or liquid cooling methods suffering from space limitation and possible leakage of electricity during charge process,emerging phase change materials as solid cooling media are of growing interest.Among them,paraffin wax(PW)with large latent heat capacity and low cost is desirable for heat dissipation and thermal management which mainly hindered by their relatively low thermal conductivity and susceptibility to leakage.Here,highly ordered and interconnected hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN)networks were established via ice template method and introduced into PW to enhance the thermal conductivity.The composite with 20 wt%loading amount of h-BN can guarantee a highly ordered network and exhibited high thermal conductivity(1.86 W m^(-1) K^(-1))which was 4 times larger compared with that of random dispersed h-BN involved PW and nearly 8 times larger compared with that of bare PW.The optimal thermal conductive composites demonstrated ultrafast heat dissipation as well as leakage resistance for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),heat generated by LIBs can be effectively transferred under the working state and the surface temperature kept 6.9℃ lower at most under 2–5℃ continuous charge-discharge process compared with that of bare one which illustrated great potential for industrial thermal management.Zhuoya Wang Kaihang Zhang Bing Zhang Zheming Tong Shulan Mao Hao Bai Yingying Lu 2022Green Energy & Environment2022,7,6:1
