| 1 | Application of artificial neural networks in global climate change and ecological research:An overview显示文摘Fields that employ artificial neural networks(ANNs)have developed and expanded continuously in recent years with the ongoing development of computer technology and artificial intelligence.ANN has been adopted widely and put into practice by research-ers in light of increasing concerns over ecological issues such as global warming,frequent El Nio-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)events,and atmospheric circulation anomalies.Limitations exist and there is a potential risk for misuse in that ANN model pa-rameters require typically higher overall sensitivity,and the chosen network structure is generally more dependent upon individ-ual experience.ANNs,however,are relatively accurate when used for short-term predictions;despite global climate change re-search favoring the effects of interactions as the basis of study and the preference for long-term experimental research.ANNs remain a better choice than many traditional methods when dealing with nonlinear problems,and possesses great potential for the study of global climate change and ecological issues.ANNs can resolve problems that other methods cannot.This is especially true for situations in which measurements are difficult to conduct or when only incomplete data are available.It is anticipated that ANNs will be widely adopted and then further developed for global climate change and ecological research. | LIU ZeLin PENG ChangHui XIANG WenHua TIAN DaLun DENG XiangWen ZHAO MeiFang | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,34: | 9 |
| 2 | Use of Fe/Al drinking water treatment residuals as amendments for enhancing the retention capacity of glyphosate in agricultural soils显示文摘Fe/Al drinking water treatment residuals(WTRs), ubiquitous and non-hazardous by-products of drinking water purification, are cost-effective adsorbents for glyphosate. Given that repeated glyphosate applications could significantly decrease glyphosate retention by soils and that the adsorbed glyphosate is potentially mobile, high sorption capacity and stability of glyphosate in agricultural soils are needed to prevent pollution of water by glyphosate.Therefore, we investigated the feasibility of reusing Fe/Al WTR as a soil amendment to enhance the retention capacity of glyphosate in two agricultural soils. The results of batch experiments showed that the Fe/Al WTR amendment significantly enhanced the glyphosate sorption capacity of both soils(p < 0.001). Up to 30% of the previously adsorbed glyphosate desorbed from the non-amended soils, and the Fe/Al WTR amendment effectively decreased the proportion of glyphosate desorbed. Fractionation analyses further demonstrated that glyphosate adsorbed to non-amended soils was primarily retained in the readily labile fraction(Na HCO3-glyphosate). The WTR amendment significantly increased the relative proportion of the moderately labile fraction(HCl-glyphosate) and concomitantly reduced that of the Na HCO3-glyphosate, hence reducing the potential for the release of soil-adsorbed glyphosate into the aqueous phase. Furthermore, Fe/Al WTR amendment minimized the inhibitory effect of increasing solution p H on glyphosate sorption by soils and mitigated the effects of increasing solution ionic strength. The surface morphology,porosity,and hydrogen sorption properties of Ti-Mo getters formed by MIM using paraffin wax as a principal binder constituent were examined. It has been proven that the powder injection molding is a viable forming technique for porous Ti-Mo getters. The particle size of Ti powders and the powder loading influence the porosity of getters,and this affects the sorption capacity of Ti-Mo getters. | 5 | 准噶尔盆地基底构造显示文摘我们已完成了穿越准噶尔盆地及其周边地区的I-I、II-II、III-III、IV-IV和额敏—哈密剖面5条综合地球物理剖面。通过综合研究,初步了解准噶尔盆地及邻近地区的地球动力学问题:准噶尔盆地基底由北部的乌伦古地体和南部的玛纳斯地体组成。两者的分界为西西北方向的滴水泉—三个泉缝合线。其西部与北东向Dalbutte缝合带相连,东部与北西向的Cranamary缝合带相连。准噶尔盆地北部的乌伦古地体基底为双层构造,上层为泥盆系和下石炭统组成的褶皱基底,大致表现为北厚(3~5 km)、南薄(1~2 km)。缝合线以南的玛纳斯地体为单层基底,即新元古代结晶基底。准噶尔盆地地壳厚度为44~52 km,北薄南厚。周边山区地壳厚度高于盆地地区。盆地及邻近地区地壳分为上、中、下层,并且中地壳一般较薄。盆地地区的地壳存在多条深断裂。南北方向发育了6条主要深断裂,分别为红车、德伦山、石溪、呼图壁、彩南和阜康。这些断层倾角较大,向上延伸至上地壳下部,向下切入地壳基底界面。壳内水平构造和构造面无明显垂向断层,似有“开放断层”特征。这些断层是上地幔物质挤入地壳的良好通道。此外,该地区还有两条主要的横向深断层。一是北西西走向的滴水泉—三个泉深断裂,它向南倾斜,具有逆断层性质,可能会破坏滴水泉—三个泉缝合带。另一条是近东西向的昌吉—玛纳斯深断裂,向南倾斜,主要发育在中下地壳,具有逆断层性质。这些深断裂对盆地构造发育具有一定的控制作用。准噶尔盆地西部的莫霍面基本连续地延伸到了天山的莫霍面,并且后者的莫霍面深度明显大于前者。但是,盆地东部的莫霍面与博格达山脉的莫霍面并不连续。前者以叠加关系延伸到后者之下,表明盆地东部的地壳向博格达山脉俯冲。这有助于解释天山东部构造活动相对减弱而博格达山脉向北推高的构造地貌现象。周边准噶尔盆地具有挤压盆地山地构造耦合格局,尤其是南部边界东部博格达—准东盆地的山地盆地构造耦合。现在将准噶尔盆地与吐哈盆地分开的博格达山脉是年轻的、仍在上升的山脉。博格达山的隆升是印支运动以来多次推覆造山运动的反映,其现貌是新近纪以来新构造运动的结果。准噶尔盆地盖层发育经历了3个阶段:与天山和松潘—甘孜造山带形成有关的二叠纪—三叠纪前陆盆地阶段,区域压缩较弱的侏罗纪—早始新世陆内坳陷阶段,以及新近纪晚期以来与天山抬升有关的活化前陆盆地阶段。 | Xiaojun WANG Yong SONG Baoli BIAN Junmeng ZHAO Heng ZHANG Maodu YAN Shunping PEI Qiang XU Shuaijun WANG Hongbing LIU Changhui JU | 2021 | 地学前缘2021,28,6: | 2 |

| 7 | Effects of spring fire and slope on the aboveground biomass, and organic C and N dynamics in a semi-arid grassland of northern China显示文摘The aboveground primary production is a major source of carbon(C) and nitrogen(N) pool and plays an important role in regulating the response of ecosystem and nutrient cycling to natural and anthropogenic disturbances. To explore the mechanisms underlying the effect of spring fire and topography on the aboveground biomass(AGB) and the soil C and N pool, we conducted a field experiment between April 2014 and August 2016 in a semi-arid grassland of northern China to examine the effects of slope and spring fire, and their potential interactions on the AGB and organic C and total N contents in different plant functional groups(C_3 grasses, C_4 grasses, forbs, Artemisia frigida plants, total grasses and total plants).The dynamics of AGB and the contents of organic C and N in the plants were examined in the burned and unburned plots on different slope positions(upper and lower). There were differences in the total AGB of all plants between the two slope positions. The AGB of grasses was higher on the lower slope than on the upper slope in July. On the lower slope, spring fire marginally or significantly increased the AGB of C_3 grasses, forbs, total grasses and total plants in June and August, but decreased the AGB of C_4 grasses and A.frigida plants from June to August. On the upper slope, however, spring fire significantly increased the AGB of forbs in June, the AGB of C_3 grasses and total grasses in July, and the AGB of forbs and C_4 grasses in August. Spring fire exhibited no significant effect on the total AGB of all plants on the lower and upper slopes in 2014 and 2015. In 2016, the total AGB in the burned plots showed a decreasing trend after fire burning compared with the unburned plots. The different plant functional groups had different responses to slope positions in terms of organic C and N contents in the plants. The lower and upper slopes differed with respect to the organic C and N contents of C_3 grasses, C_4 grasses, total grasses, forbs, A. frigida plants and total plants in different growing months. Slope position and spring fire significantly interacted to affect the AGB and organic C and N contents of C_4 grasses and A. frigida plants. We observed the AGB and organic C and N contents in the plants in a temporal synchronized pattern. Spring fire affected the functional AGB on different slope positions, likely by altering the organic C and N contents and, therefore,it is an important process for C and N cycling in the semi-arid natural grasslands. | 14 | The settling of resuspended lake sediment related to physicochemical properties of particles of different sizes: Implication for environmental remediation显示文摘Sediment resuspension is an important way for shallow lake internal pollution to interact with the overlying water column,and the pollution risks are reasonably related to the retention of resuspended sediment particles in overlying water.In the current study,the settling of resuspended sediment particles was comprehensively investigated under different disturbances using five urban lake sediments.The results show that the particle size distributions of resuspended sediment from different lakes exhibited similar variations during settling with disturbance,although varied settling times were observed under static conditions.During settling with and without disturbance,sediment particle sizes were mainly within 8-63μm at the initial stage,and were<8μm in the later stages of settling.Based on these settling characteristics,the sediment particle size was divided into sand(>63μm),silt(8-63μm),and very fine silt and clay(<8μm)fractions.Kinetic analysis suggested that sediment settling for different particle sizes could be well described by the first-and second-order kinetic equations,especially when settling was disturbed(r^(2)=0.727-0.999).The retention of resuspended sediment could be enhanced as particle sizes decreased and disturbance intensities increased.Furthermore,a water elutriation method was successfully optimized,with separation efficiencies of 56.1%-83%,to separate sediment particles into the defined three particle size fractions.The chemical compositions of sediment were found to change with different particle sizes.Typically,calcium tended to form large-size sediment,while the total contents of aluminum,iron,magnesium,and manganese showed significantly negative correlations with sediment particle sizes(p<0.01)and tended to distribute in small-size particles(e.g.,<8μm).Overall,the sediment particle size related settling dynamics and physicochemical properties suggested the necessity on determining the pollution of resuspended sediment at different particle sizes for restoration of shallow lakes. | Zhao Wei Youze Xu Yanyan Zhao Yuanyuan Zhao Leilei Bai Helong Jiang Changhui Wang | 2021 | International Journal of Sediment Research2021,36,4: | 0 |

| 17 | Effects of maturity of citrus fruits on their stalks cutting force显示文摘When the citrus harvesting robot harvests citruses,the mechanical properties of citrus stalks have an important influence on the success rate of the citrus harvesting robot.During the harvesting,the maturity of citrus fruits not only determined the harvesting time of citrus fruits but also affected the mechanical properties of citrus fruit stalks.In this study,the changes in the cutting force of citrus fruit stalks were described during the maturity of citrus fruits,and the effect of the maturity on the cutting force of stalks was clarified,so as to determine the harvesting time with the minimum cutting force required for harvesting citrus fruits by the harvesting robot.During the maturity,the relevant parameters of fruit maturity,such as the hardness,pH,and solid solution content of citrus fruits,were monitored.The results showed that there is a significant correlation between the hardness,pH,the solid solution content of citrus fruits,and the cutting force of citrus fruit stalks during maturity.The single-factor mechanical model of hardness,pH,solid solution content of citrus fruits,and the cutting force of citrus fruit stalks were established based on the data of 2019,which were verified through tests in 2020.The test results are as follows:during the ripening period of citrus fruits,the fruit hardness varies in the range of 0.13-0.31 MPa,the hardness changes by 0.02 MPa,and the cutting force changes by about 2.0-6.0 N;the pH of the citrus fruits changes in the range of 2.8-4.0,and the cutting force changes by about 1.5-2.2 N for every 0.1 change in the pH;the variation range of fruit solid solution content is 6.5%-9.0%,and for every 0.2%change in solid solution,the cutting force of citrus fruit stalks changes by about 1.25-2.0 N.The mechanical models can predict the cutting force required to cut off citrus fruit stalks according to the relevant parameters of citrus fruit maturity and can provide a reference for effectively evaluating the required cutting force. | Yi Wang Dun Liu Yali Li Hongmei Zhao Changhui Yang Yitan Zhang | 2022 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2022,15,6: | 0 |
