Variation of the Fe/Mn ratio of ferromanganese crusts from the Central North Pacific: implication for paleoclimate changes显示文摘Contents of Fe, Mn and other elements in four ferromanganese crusts recovered from the central North Pacific are analyzed at high depth-resolution by electron microprobe for reconstructing factors controlling their deposition. Manganese (IV) in hydrogenetic ferromanganese crusts is mainly supplied as colloidal precipitates from the Oxygen Minimum Zone (OMZ), which concentrates high amounts of dissolved Mn (II). The iron is derived from carbonate dissolution and silicate particles of eolian dust. An increase in paleoproductivity during cooler climate would potentially lead to a decrease in Mn deposition due to enlargement of the OMZ which has a “temporary storage” effect for Mn. On the other hand, not affected by the OMZ, the iron entering the Fe-Mn crust would likely increase with the eolian dust input and surface productivity at glacial stages. As a result, the increasing Fe/Mn ratio should indicate a cooling climate. This is supported by the following observations. In the profile of the past 1 Ma, the variations of Fe/Mn ratio coincide with benthic oxygen isotope fluctuation in glacial-interglacial cycles. Three episodes with high Fe/Mn ratios, approximately at 2.6, 1.8 and 0.8 Ma, are detected within the past 3 Ma and coincide with major climate transitions and cooling events. The secular evolution pattern of Fe/Mn ratio in the Cenozoic is similar to the Pb isotope evolution which is mainly controlled by eolian dust and related to climate. The Fe/Mn evolution pattern is also broadly consistent with the global deep-sea oxygen isotope records. Therefore, Fe/Mn ratio recorded in the ferromanganese crusts may be a new proxy for climate change. | LUZunli LINGHongfei ZHOUFeng JIANGShaoyong CHENXiaoming ZHOUHuaiyang | 2005 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2005,15,6: | 9
Antidepressant-like effect of active fraction of Polyrhachisvicina Roger in a rat depression model显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the antidepressant-likeeffect of active fraction of Polyrhachis vicina Roger(AFPR) in a rat depression model, and to elucidate the underlying mechanism.METHODS: AFPR was extracted with ethanol followed by petroleum ether. Its antidepressant-like effect was investigated in mice by tail suspension test(TST), forced swimming test(FST) and open field test(OPT). A repeated dose of reserpine(0.5 mg/kg, daily for 14 d) was used to establish a rat depression model. Fluoxetine was used as positive control agent. The effect of AFPR on reserpine-induced ptosis, hypothermia and akinesia, the levels of monoamines and their metabolites, and the activity of monoamine oxidase(MAO) in hippocampus and prefrontal cortex were determined.RESULTS: Administration of AFPR by gavage at 160 and 320 mg/kg significantly reduced the duration of immobility in the FST and TST, and did not affect locomotor activity in the OPT. In the reserpine-induced depression model, AFPR attenuated anhedonia, demonstrated by reversing hypothermia, akinesia and sucrose consumption. AFPR significantly increased the concentration of monoamines, including dopamine, serotonin, noradrenaline and acetylcholine.CONCLUSION: AFPR normalized the metabolism rates of noradrenaline, serotonin and dopamine, and the activity of MAO, which were altered by chronic reserpine exposure. The findings suggest that modulation of the monoaminergic neurotransmitter system likely underlies the antidepressant-like effect of AFPR. | Wei Guining Chu Shifeng Su Qibiao Su Hua Lin Meiyu He Fei Lu Wenjie Lu Guoshou Huang Zhoufeng Tan Xiao Lin Xiao Zeng Xianbiao Wei Baowei Chen Naihong | 2018 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2018,38,1: | 4
Immunotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer:rationale, recent advances and future perspectives显示文摘Lung cancer, with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)being the major type,is the second most commonmalignancy and the leading cause of cancer-related death globally.Immunotherapy, represented by immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs),has been one of the greatest advances in recent years for the treatment of solid tumors including NSCLC.However, not all NSCLC patients experience an effective response to immunotherapy with the established selection criteria of programmed death ligand 1(PD-L1)and tumor mutational burden(TMB).Furthermore,a considerable proportion of patients experience unconventional responses, including pseudoprogression or hyperprogressive disease(HPD),immune-related toxicities, and primary or acquired resistance during the immunotherapy process. To better understand the immune response in NSCLC and provide reference for clinical decision-making,we herein review the rationale and recent advances in using immunotherapy to treat NSCLC.Moreover,we discuss the current challenges and future strategies of this approach to improve its efficacy and safety in treating NSCLC. | Wenxin Luo Zhoufeng Wang Ting Zhang Lan Yang Jinghong Xian Yalun Li Weimin Li | 2021 | Precision Clinical Medicine2021,4,4: | 2
Integrated single-cell RNA sequencing analysis reveals distinct cellular and transcriptional modules associated with survival in lung cancer显示文摘Lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)and squamous carcinoma(LUSC)are two major subtypes of non-small cell lung cancer with distinct pathologic features and treatment paradigms. The heterogeneity can be attributed to genetic, transcriptional, and epigenetic parameters. Here,we established a multi-omics atlas, integrating 52 single-cell RNA sequencing and 2342 public bulk RNA sequencing. We investigated their differences in genetic amplification, cellular compositions, and expression modules. We revealed that LUAD and LUSC contained amplifications occurring selectively in subclusters of AT2 and basal cells, and had distinct cellular composition modules associated with poor survival of lung cancer.Malignant and stage-specific gene analyses further uncovered critical transcription factors and genes in tumor progression. Moreover,we identified subclusters with proliferating and differentiating properties in AT2 and basal cells.Overexpression assays of ten genes, including sub-cluster markers AQP5 and KPNA2,further indicated their functional roles, providing potential targets for early diagnosis and treatment in lung cancer. | Li Zhang Yiming Zhang Chengdi Wang Ying Yang Yinyun Ni Zhoufeng Wang Tingting Song Menglin Yao Zhiqiang Liu Ningning Chao Yongfeng Yang Jun Shao Zhidan Li Ran Zhou Li Chen Dan Zhang Yuancun Zhao Wei Liu Yupeng Li Ping He Jing-wen Lin Yuan Wang Kang Zhang Lu Chen Weimin Li | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,2: | 2

Variations in nitrogen isotopic values among various particle-sized fractions in modern soil in northwestern China显示文摘Ratios of stable nitrogen isotopes in organic matter derived from plants and preserved in soil are potential tracers for nitrogen cycles in natural ecosystems and valuable for evaluation of climate change. However, the rela-tionship between nitrogen isotopic compositions in surface soil and in plant litter during the decomposition process from plant litter to soil organic matter is not well understood. By using nitrogen isotopic analysis of soil parti-cle-sized fractions, nitrogen isotope discrimination between plant litter and surface soil organic matter in various modern ecosystems in northwestern China was conducted. The results of our study indicate that: (1) in general, the nitrogen isotopic compositions of particle-sized fractions from surface soil are different, and δ15N values increase from plant litter to fine soil organic matter; (2) the δ15N values in the soil particle-sized fractions become larger with increasing relative humidity and temperature, and the largest variation in the δ15N values is from -5.9‰ to -0.3‰; and (3) under a controlled climate, significant nitrogen isotope differences in δ15N values (Δδ15Nplant-soil) between plant litter and bulk soil organic matter were observed, with the values of 1.52 to 4.75 at various sites. Our results suggested that comparisons of Δδ15N values between bulk soil and the particle-sized fractions of soil could reveal the effect of humidity on transferring process of nitrogen from plant to soil in arid and semi-arid ecosystems. | LIU Weiguo WANG Zhoufeng WANG Zheng FENG Xiahong ZHANG Pu | 2011 | Chinese Journal Of Geochemistry2011,30,3: | 2

The heterogeneous immune landscape between lung adenocarcinoma and squamous carcinoma revealed by single-cell RNA sequencing显示文摘A thorough interrogation of the immune landscape is crucial for immunotherapy strategy selection and prediction of clinical responses in non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients.Single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)techniques have prompted the opportunity to dissect the distinct immune signatures between lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)and lung squamous cell carcinoma(LUSC),the two major subtypes of NSCLC.Here,we performed scRNA-seq on 72,475 immune cells from 40 samples of tumor and matched adjacent normal tissues spanning 19 NSCLC patients, and drew a systematic immune cell transcriptome atlas.Joint analyses of the distinct cellular compositions, differentilly expressed genes(DEGs),cell-cell interactions, pseudotime trajectory, transcriptomic factors and prognostic factors based on The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA),revealed the central roles of cytotoxic and effector T and NK cells and the distinct functional macrophages(Mo)subtypes in the immune microenvironment heterogeneity between LUAD and LUSC.The dominant subtype of Mo was FABP4-Mp in LUAD and SPP1-Mo in LUSC.Importantly,we identifieda novel lymphocyte-related Mo cluster, which we named SELENOP-Mo,and further established its antitumor role in both types, especially in LUAD.Our comprehensive depiction of the immune heterogeneity and definition of Mp clusters could help design personalized treatment for lung cancer patients in clinical practice. | Chengdi Wang Qiuxiao Yu Tingting Song Zhoufeng Wang Lujia Song Ying Yang Jun Shao Jingwei Li Yinyun Ni Ningning Chao Li Zhang Weimin Li | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,9: | 1
Comparing T-and B-cell responses to COVID-19 vaccines across varied immune backgrounds显示文摘The emergence of adapted variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has led to a surge in breakthrough infections worldwide.A recent analysis of immune responses in people who received inactivated vaccines has revealed that individuals with no prior infection have limited resistance to Omicron and its sub-lineages,while those with previous infections exhibit a significant amount of neutralizing antibodies and memory B cells. However, specific T-cell responses remain largely unaffected by the mutations, indicating that T-cell-mediated cellular immunity can still provide protection. Moreover, the administration of a third dose of vaccine has resulted in a marked increase in the spectrum and duration of neutralizing antibodies and memory B cells in vivo, which has enhanced resistance to emerging variants such as BA.2.75 and BA.2.12.1.These results highlight the need to consider booster immunization for previously infected individuals and the development of novel vaccination strategies. The rapid spread of adapted variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus presents a significant challenge to global health. The findings from this study underscore the importance of tailoring vaccination strategies based on individual immune backgrounds and the potential need for booster shots to combat emerging variants.Continued research and development are crucial to discovering new immunization strategies that will effectively protect public health against the evolving virus. | Zhen Cui Wenxin Luo Ruihong Chen Yalun Li Zhoufeng Wang Yong Liu Shuo Liu LeiLei Feng Zijing Jia Ruixin Cheng Jun Tang Weijin Huang Yanjun Zhang Huawen Liu Xiangxi Wang Weimin Li | 2023 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,6: | 0
Molecular characteristics of primary pulmonary lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma based on integrated genomic analyses显示文摘Primary pulmonary lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma(pLELC)is a rare non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)subtype.Clinical features have been described in our previous report, but molecular characteristics remain unclear.Herein,pLELC genomic features were explored.Among 41,574 lung cancers,128 pLELCS and 162 non-pLELC NSCLCS were enrolled.Programmed cell death ligand 1(PD-L1)and protein 53(p53)expression was detected in 47 surgically resected pLELC samples by immunohistochemical assays.Multiomics genomic analyses, including whole-genome sequencing(WGS),RNA whole-transcriptome sequencing(RNA-seq),and Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)integration analyses, were performed on eight frozen pLELC tissues and compared with 50 lung adenocarcinomas(LUADs)and 50 lung squamous cell carcinomas(LUSCs)from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)and another 26 EBV-positive nasopharynx cancers(EBV+-NPCs).Progression-free survival(PFS)and overall survival(OS)of pLELC patients were better than those of non-pLELC patients.High PD-L1 or p53 expression was associated with extended disease free survival(DFS).pLELC had 14 frequently mutated genes(FMGs).Somatically mutated genes and enrichment of genetic lesions were found, which differed from observations in LUAD,LUSC,and EBV+-nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Three tumor associated genes, zinc finger and BTB domain-containing 16(ZBTB16),peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma(PPARG),and transforming growth factor beta receptor 2(TGFBR2),were downregulated with copy number variation(CNV)loss.EBV was prone to integrating into intergenic and intronic regions with two upregulated miR-BamH1-A rightward transcripts(BARTs),BART5-3P and BART20-3P.Our findings reveal that pLELC has a distinct genomic signature.Three tumor associated genes with CNV loss and two miR-BARTs might be involved in pLELC tumorigenesis. | Bojiang Chen Yu Zhang Sisi Dail Ping Zhou Wenxin Luo Zhoufeng Wang Xuping Chen Peng Cheng Guoya Zheng Jing Ren Xiaodong Yang Weimin Li | 2021 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,2: | 0
