| 1 | Feasibility study of a large-scale tuned mass damper with eddy current damping mechanism显示文摘Tuned mass dampers(TMDs) have been widely used in recent years to mitigate structural vibration.However,the damping mechanisms employed in the TMDs are mostly based on viscous dampers,which have several well-known disadvantages,such as oil leakage and difficult adjustment of damping ratio for an operating TMD.Alternatively,eddy current damping(ECD) that does not require any contact with the main structure is a potential solution.This paper discusses the design,analysis,manufacture and testing of a large-scale horizontal TMD based on ECD.First,the theoretical model of ECD is formulated,then one large-scale horizontal TMD using ECD is constructed,and finally performance tests of the TMD are conducted.The test results show that the proposed TMD has a very low intrinsic damping ratio,while the damping ratio due to ECD is the dominant damping source,which can be as large as 15% in a proper configuration.In addition,the damping ratios estimated with the theoretical model are roughly consistent with those identified from the test results,and the source of this error is investigated.Moreover,it is demonstrated that the damping ratio in the proposed TMD can be easily adjusted by varying the air gap between permanent magnets and conductive plates.In view of practical applications,possible improvements and feasibility considerations for the proposed TMD are then discussed.It is confirmed that the proposed TMD with ECD is reliable and feasible for use in structural vibration control. | Wang Zhihao Chen Zhengqing Wang Jianhui | 2012 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2012,11,3: | 19 |
| 2 | Operational spectrum reconstruction of data from the Fourier transform hyperspectral imager onboard HJ-1A satellite显示文摘The HJ-1A satellite was successfully launched on September 6, 2008. The inclusion of a HyperSpectral Imager (HSI) as one of the payloads of the HJ-1A Satellite is a major milestone in the field of the remote sensing in China. It is also the first Fourier transform imaging spectrometer routinely used to acquire scientific data from a satellite orbiting Earth. This paper briefly introduces the basic imaging theories of the spatially modulated Fourier transform imaging spectrometer, and then discusses the theoretical analysis and algorithms of spectrum reconstruction. Results of the operational spectrum reconstruction for the raw data of the HJ-1A satellite Fourier transform HSI are presented. | 6 | Reflection and phase of left-handed metamaterials at microwave frequencies显示文摘We experimentally investigated the reflection and phase of the left-handed metamaterials (LHMs) in a rectangular waveguide for the normally incident microwave. The samples are constructed by periodically arraying the copper split ring resonators (SRRs) and wires. It is found that for the LHMs with one-layered SRRs, a reflection peak with a depth of -3.3 dB (i.e. with the reflectivity of 47%) occurs in the left-handed range. The dependence of reflection phase on the frequency is different from that of the transmission phase, and the reflection phase has an inflexion at the reflection peaks. For the LHMs with three-layered SRRs, the depth of reflection peak increases with the row number, i.e. reflection is weakened, and the reflection peak has a shift with respect to the left-handed transmission peak. | 7 | High-performance distributed feedback quantum dot lasers with laterally coupled dielectric gratings显示文摘The combination of grating-based frequency-selective optical feedback mechanisms,such as distributed feedback(DFB)or distributed Bragg reflector(DBR)structures,with quantum dot(QD)gain materials is a main approach towards ultrahigh-performance semiconductor lasers for many key novel applications,as either stand-alone sources or on-chip sources in photonic integrated circuits.However,the fabrication of conventional buried Bragg grating structures on GaAs,GaAs/Si,GaSb,and other material platforms has been met with major material regrowth difficulties.We report a novel and universal approach of introducing laterally coupled dielectric Bragg gratings to semiconductor lasers that allows highly controllable,reliable,and strong coupling between the grating and the optical mode.We implement such a grating structure in a low-loss amorphous silicon material alongside GaAs lasers with InAs/GaAs QD gain layers.The resulting DFB laser arrays emit at pre-designed 0.8 THz local area network wavelength division multiplexing frequency intervals in the 1300 nm band with record performance parameters,including sidemode suppression ratios as high as 52.7 dB,continuous-wave output power of 26.6 mW(room temperature)and 6 mW(at 55℃),and ultralow relative intensity noise(RIN)of<-165 dB/Hz(2.5-20 GHz).The devices are also capable of isolator-free operating under very high external reflection levels of up to-12.3 dB while maintaining high spectral purity and ultralow RIN qualities.These results validate the novel laterally coupled dielectric grating as a technologically superior and potentially cost-effective approach for fabricating DFB and DBR lasers free of their semiconductor material constraints,which are thus universally applicable across different material platforms and wavelength bands. | ZHUOHUI YANG ZHENGQING DING LIN LIU HANCHENG ZHONG SHENG CAO XINZHONG ZHANG SHIZHE LIN XIAOYING HUANG HUADI DENG YING YU SIYUAN YU | 2022 | Photonics Research2022,10,5: | 3 |
| 8 | Review on the corrosion-promotion activity of graphene and its inhibition显示文摘Graphene films(GFs) and graphene-reinforced nanocomposite coatings(GNCs) have received unprecedented attention for corrosion protection because graphene possesses a remarkable chemical inertness and is completely impermeable to aggressive chemicals. However, the high electric conductivity and positive potential of graphene make graphene-based metal protectors tend to exhibit an undesirable high corrosion-promotion activity(CPA), which is widely known as the phenomenon that graphene connecting with metal accelerates the corrosion of metal substrate by inducing micro-galvanic corrosion at the defect sites of GFs or GNCs in aggressive environments. Therefore, inhibiting the CPA of graphene is currently a key focus for the application of graphene in the field of corrosion protection. | 10 | All in one theranostic nanoplatform enables efficient anti-tumor peptide I delivery for triple-modal imaging guided cancer therapy显示文摘Developing a reliable system to efficiently and safely deliver peptide drugs into tumor tissues still remains a great challenge since the instability of peptide drugs and low ability to traverse the cell membrane. Herein, we constructed a multifunctional nanoplatform based on porous europium/gadolinium (Eu/Gd)-doped NaLa(MoO4)2 nanoparticles (NLM NPs) to deliver antitumor peptide of B-cell lymphoma/leukemia-2-like protein 11 (BIM) for cancer therapy. The porous NLM NPs exhibited inherent photoluminescent, magnetic and X-ray absorbable properties, which enable them for triple-modal bioimaging, including fluorescence, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). This triple-modal bioimaging can contribute to monitoring NLM NPs biodistribution and guiding therapy in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, the NLM NPs showed negligible cytotoxicity in vitro and tissue toxicity in vivo. Importantly, NLM NPs could load the antitumor peptide of BIM and efficiently improve the resistance of peptide drugs to proteolysis. The BIM peptide was efficiently delivered into the tumor cells by NLM NPs, which can inhibit the growth and promote the apoptosis of cancer cells in vitro, significantly inhibit the tumor growth in vivo. Notably, NLM-BIM theranostic nanoplatform exhibits low systemic toxicity and fewer side effects in vivo. | 11 | Lactobacillus plantarum CCFM8610 Alleviates Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Prevents Gut Microbiota Dysbiosis:A Randomized,Double-Blind,Placebo-Controlled,Pilot Clinical Trial显示文摘Irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea(IBS-D)is chronic intestinal dysfunction with diarrhea and othercomplicated clinical symptoms,and it has a great impact on the daily life and mental state of patients.Some studies have reported that ingestion of probiotics can significantly alleviate a variety of intestinaldiseases.The pupose of this study was to investigate the IBS-D-alleviating effects of a probiotic strain,lactobacillus plantarum(L.plantarum)CCFM8610,with multiple health-promoting effects.The studywas a 12-week,randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled,pilot clinical trial.Seventy-five patientswere randomly assigned to receive the placebo,oligosaccharides,or L.plantarum CCFM8610(1×10^(10) colony-forming units(CFU)per day),with a 2-week run-in period,an 8-week intervention period,anda 2-week follow-up observation period.The patients'clinical symptoms and quality of life were exam-ined by the IBS symptom severity scale(IBS-SsS)and the IlBS quality of life scale(IBS-QOL).Changes ingut microbiota composition and diversity were measured at the end of the intervention period.The oraladministration of L.plantarum CCFM8610 significantly decreased the IBS-SSS and IBS-QOL scores,reduced IBS-D symptom severity,recovered gut microbiota diversity,decreased the relative abundanceof bloating-related genus Methanobrevibacter,and increased the relative abundance of butyric acid-producing genera,including Anaerostipes,Anaerotruncus,Bifidobacterium,Butyricimonas,andOdoribacter.These findings suggest that ingestion of L.plantarum CCFM8610 can significantly alleviate clinical symptoms and gut microbiota dysbiosis in IBS-D patients.The IBS-D-alleviating effect of L.plan-tarum CCFM8610 may be related to theincrease in the relative abundance of butyric acid-producing genera in the intestine. | Yang Liu Xinjie Yu Leilei Yu Fengwei Tian Jianxin Zhao Hao Zhang Long Qian Qun Wang Zhengqing Xue Qixiao Zhai Wei Chen | 2021 | Engineering2021,7,3: | 2 |

We describe the details of each step of the algorithm after introducing the WAITING mechanism. Then, we also analyze how the waiting-time affects the throughput performance of the network. The network simulator NS-2 is used to evaluate the throughput performance of the new WAITING algorithm and we compare it with IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol and the old WAITING algorithm. | 15 | Optimal design and effectiveness evaluation for inerter-based devices on mitigating seismic responses of base isolated structures显示文摘The optimal design and effectiveness of three control systems,tuned viscous mass damper(TVMD),tuned inerter damper(TID)and tuned mass damper(TMD),on mitigating the seismic responses of base isolated structures,were systematically studied.First,the seismic responses of the base isolated structure with each control system under white noise excitation were obtained.Then,the structural parameter optimizations of the TVMD,TID and TMD were conducted by using three different objectives.The results show that the three control systems were all effective in minimizing the root mean square value of seismic responses,including the base shear of the BIS,the absolute acceleration of structural SDOF,and the relative displacement between the base isolation floor and the foundation.Finally,considering the superstructure as a structural MDOF,a series of time history analyses were performed to investigate the effectiveness and activation sensitivity of the three control systems under far field and near fault seismic excitations.The results show that the effectiveness of TID and TMD with optimized parameters on mitigating the seismic responses of base isolated structures increased as the mass ratio increases,and the effectiveness of TID was always better than TMD with the same mass ratio.The TVMD with a lower mass ratio was more efficient in reducing the seismic response than the TID and TMD.Furthermore,the TVMD,when compared with TMD and TID,had better activation sensitivity and a smaller stroke. | Li Yafeng Li Shouying Chen Zhengqing | 2021 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2021,20,4: | 2 |
