No tillage outperforms conventional tillage under arid conditions and following fertilization显示文摘Reduced tillage practices present a tool that could sustainably intensify agriculture. The existing literature, however, lacks a consensus on how and when reduced tillage practices should get implemented. We reanalyzed here an extensive dataset comparing how regular tillage practices(i.e.,conventional tillage)impacted yield of eight crops compared to stopping tillage altogether(i.e.,no-tillage practice). We observed that aridity and fertilization favored no tillage over conventional tillage whereas conventional tillage performed better under high fertility settings. We further show that the responses are consistent across the crops. Our reanalysis complements the original and fills a gap in the literature questioning the conditions under which reducing tillage presents a viable alternative to common tillage practices. | Stavros D.Veresoglou Junjiang Chen Xuheng Du Qi Fu QingLiu Geng Chenyan Huang Xilin Huang Nan Hu Yiming Hun Guolin C.Li Zhiman Lin Zhiyu Ma Yuyi Ou Shuo Qi Haitian Qin Yingbo Qiu Xibin Sun Ye Tao YiLing Tian Jie Wang Lingxiao Wu Ziwei Wu Siqi Xie Ao Yang Dan Yang Chen Zeng Ying Zeng RuJie Zhang | 2023 | Soil Ecology Letters2023,5,1: | 1
Thiol Ligand-Modified Au for Highly Efficient Electroreduction of Nitrate to Ammonia显示文摘Electroreduction of nitrate(NO_(3)-)to ammonia(NH_(3))is an environmentally friendly route for NH_(3)production,serving as an appealing alternative to the Haber-Bosch process.Recently, various noble metal-based electrocatalysts have been reported for electroreduction of NO_(3)-.However,the application of pure metal electrocatalysts is still limited by unsatisfactory performance, owing to the weak adsorption of nitrogen-containing intermediates on the surface of pure metal electrocatalysts. In this work,we report thiol ligand-modified Au nanoparticles as the effective electrocatalysts toward electroreduction of NO_(3)-.Specifically,three mercaptobenzoic acid(MBA)isomers, thiosalicylic acid(ortho-MBA),3-mercaptobenzoic acid(meta-MBA),and 4-mercaptobenzoic acid(para-MBA),were employed to modify the surface of the Au nanocatalyst.During the NO_(3)-electroreduction,para-MBA modified Au(denoted as para-Au/C)displayed the highest catalytic activity among these Au-based catalysts.At-1.0 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode(vs RHE),para-Au/C exhibited a partial current density for NH_(3)of 472.2 mA cm^(-2),which was 1.7 times that of the pristine Au catalyst.Meanwhile, the Faradaic efficiency(FE)for NH_(3)reached 98.7%at-1.0 V vs RHE for para-Au/C.The modification of para-MBA significantly improved the intrinsic activity of the Au/C catalyst, thus accelerating the kinetics of NO_(3)-reduction and giving rise to a high NH_(3)yield rate of para-Au/C. | Yuheng Wu Xiangdong Kong Yechao Su Jiankang Zhao Yiling Ma Tongzheng Ji Di Wu Junyang Meng Yan Liu Zhigang Geng Jie Zeng | 2024 | Precision Chemistry2024,2,3: | 0

Clinical evaluation of 4D dynamic dose for thoracic tumor stereotactic body radiation therapy with variable parameters显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the dose uncertainty in stereotactic body radiation therapy induced by respiratory motion using a 4D dynamic dose(4DDD)reconstruction method. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on five lung cancer patients who received static intensitymodulated radiation therapy. The 4DDD was constructed using beam delivery log files,four-dimensional computed tomography(4DCT)scans,and treatment plans. To evaluate the impact of respiratory motion,4DDD calculations were performed with 10 starting phases for each field.A total of 270 field doses were simulated and calculated. The differences between the cumulative volume histogram in whole-course treatment and the field doses'gamma passing rate(GPR)were compared. The correlations between plan complexity metrics and the dose deviation caused by respiratory motion were evaluated independently. The phase distributions of 398 subfields were calculated and evaluated for the influence of dose rate and breathing frequency. Results:The GPRs of all fields were different among various starting phases, with the highest range from 62.20% to 76.87% for 2 mm/3%GPR.The deviation of mean point dose was(5.42±5.21)%,and the deviation in the mean dose and D98% within the internal gross tumor volume were(0.97±0.71)% and(0.77±0.53)%,respectively.There was a significant correlation between the beam aperture-to-volume(BA2V)ratio and the average 2 mm/2%GPR(R?0.601,P<0.01).Lower dose rates led to a more homogeneous distribution of phases among subfields(t?44.100,P<0.001).Conclusions:Different beam starting phases had a limited impact on the overall treatment evaluation. However, the respiratory motion could be observed to induce dose deviations using the 4DDD reconstruction model, particularly for fields with small BA2V. | Yiling Zeng Yu Chang Sheng Zhang Jun Han Hongyuan Liu Feng Xiao Bo Pang Bin Hu Junping Cheng Hong Quan Zhiyong Yang | 2023 | Radiation Medicine and Protection2023,4,3: | 0
Phytochemical activators of Nrf2:a review of therapeutic strategies in diabetes显示文摘Insulin resistance(IR)is fundamental to the development of type 2 diabetes(T2D),and altered mitochondrial function and abnormal lipid distribution are closely associated with IR or T2D.Excess oxidative stress-induced mitochondrial damage leads to an imbalance in redox homeostasis, which is considered the major contributor to the progression of diabetes.A key cellular defense mechanism, namely, the nuclear factor-E2 p45-related factor 2(Nrf2)-antioxidant response element(ARE)pathway, plays an essential protective role in combating excess oxidative stress.A series of phytochemicals are reported to improve IR and restore mitochondrial function against excess oxidative stress by activating the Nrf2-ARE signaling pathway to maintain cellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)homeostasis. The present review focuses on key knowledge gaps in the Nrf2-ARE system targeted by phytochemicals and its correlation to diabetes both in the in vitro and in vivo models and recent achievements in human clinical trials to evaluate its efficiency and safety. In addition,we provide an overview of recent research progress in nutrigenomics, precision nutrition and the interactions occurring in gut microbiota associated with the Nrf2-ARE signaling pathway and diabetes chemoprevention by phytochemicals and finally propose a future research strategy for regulating redox and microbiota balance via the Nrf2-ARE pathway. The present review aims to help us comprehensively understand the critical chemopreventive role of the Nrf2-ARE pathway targeted by phytochemicals in diabetes. | Si Qin Zhong Chen Yiling Wen Yuhang Yi Chenghao Lv Chaoxi Zeng Lanming Chen Meng Shi | 2023 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2023,55,1: | 0
Clinical characteristics of acute lobar nephronia in renal allograft显示文摘To the Editor:Acute lobar nephronia(ALN),also known as acute focal bacterial nephritis,is a severe form of upper urinary tract infection(UTI)that is characterized by the presence of an inflammatory mass lesion in the kidney without abscess formation. It is considered to be the midpoint between acute pyelonephritis and renal abscess.^([1])ALN was first described in 1979 as a radiologic diagnosis in ten adults and two children.^([2]) | Yuchen Wang Yu He Yanna Liu Ziyan Yan Wenli Zeng Wenfeng Deng Yiling Fang Genxia Wei Jian Xu Yun Miao | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,7: | 0
