2Morphological, mechanical and thermal properties of cyanate ester/benzoxazine resin composites reinforced by silane treated natural hemp fibers显示文摘This present study deals with the reinforcement of thermosetting resin blends composed of cyanate ester(CE) and benzoxazine(BOZ) resins with natural hemp fibers(NHFs). These NHFs were initially treated by using a silane coupling agent(SCA) in order to chiefly enhance their distributions as well as adhesions within the CE/BOZ resin matrix,then incorporated with various weight amounts ranging from 5 wt% to 20 wt% with a regular interval of 5 wt%. The obtained results showed that at the maximum treated fiber loading(20 wt%), distinctive enhancements in the mechanical properties in terms of flexural strength and microhardness were obtained. Besides, the thermal stability and glass transition temperature(Tg) were appreciably enhanced and were higher than those of the pure CE/BOZ resin properties. With respect to the astonishing properties of the NHFs, these enhancements could be possibly due to the good dispersion and adhesion of the treated NHFs inside the CE/BOZ resin achieved upon using the SCA. 3Intra-abdominal aortic balloon occlusion in the management of placenta percreta显示文摘Background:Massive bleeding is the main concern for the management of placenta percreta(PP).Intra-abdominal aortic balloon occlusion(IABO)is one method for pelvic devascularization,but the efficacy of IABO is uncertain.This study aims to investigate the outcomes of IABO in PP patients.Methods:We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of PP cases from six tertiary centers in China between January 2011 and December 2015.PP cases with/without the use of IABO were analyzed.Propensity score matching analysis was performed to reduce the effect of selection bias.Postpartum hemorrhage(PPH)and the rate of hysterectomy,as well as neonatal outcomes,were analyzed.Results:One hundred and thirty-two matched pairs of patients were included in the final analysis.Compared with the control group,maternal outcomes,including PPH(68.9%vs.87.9%,χ^(2)=13.984,P<0.001),hysterectomy(8.3%vs.65.2%,χ^(2)=91.672,P<0.001),and repeated surgery(1.5%vs.12.1%,χ^(2)=11.686,P=0.001)were significantly reduced in the IABO group.For neonatal outcomes,Apgar scores at 1 minute(8.67±1.79vs.8.53±1.68,t=-0.638,P=0.947)and 5 minutes(9.43±1.55vs.9.53±1.26,t=0.566,P=0.293)were not significantly different between the two groups.Conclusions:IABO can significantly reduce blood loss,hysterectomies,and repeated surgeries.This procedure has not shown harmful effects on neonatal outcomes.Weiran Zheng Ruochong Dou Jie Yan Xinrui Yang Xianlan Zhao Dunjin Chen Yuyan Ma Weishe Zhang Yiling Ding Ling Fan Huixia Yang 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,4:2
4Evaluation of triage strategies for high-risk human papillomavirus-positive women in cervical cancer screening:A multicenter randomized controlled trial in different resource settings in China显示文摘Objective:We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of different triage strategies for high-risk human papillomavirus(hrHPV)-positive women in primary healthcare settings in China.Methods:This study was undertaken in 11 rural and 9 urban sites.Women aged 35-64 years old were enrolled.HrHPV-positive women were randomly allocated to liquid-based cytology(LBC),visual inspection with acetic acid and Lugol’s iodine(VIA/VILI)(rural only)triage,or directly referred to colposcopy(direct COLP).At 24 months,hrHPV testing,LBC and VIA/VILI were conducted for combined screening.Results:In rural sites,1,949 hrHPV-positive women were analyzed.A total of 852,218 and 480 women were randomly assigned to direct COLP,LBC and VIA/VILI.At baseline,colposcopy referral rates of LBC or VIA/VILI triage could be reduced by 70%-80%.LBC(n=3 and n=7)or VIA/VILI(n=8 and n=26)could significantly decrease the number of colposcopies needed to detect one cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)2 or worse and CIN3+compared with direct COLP(n=14 and n=23).For the 24-month cumulative detection rate of CIN2+,VIA/VILI triage was 0.50-fold compared with LBC triage and 0.46-fold with the direct COLP.When stratified by age,baseline LBC triage+performed best(P<0.001),peaking among women aged 35-44 years(Ptrend=0.002).In urban sites,1,728 women were hrHPV genotyping test positive.A total of 408,571 and 568women were randomly assigned to direct COLP for HPV16/18+,direct COLP for other hrHPV subtypes+,and LBC triage for other hrHPV subtypes+.LBC(n=12 and n=31)significantly decreased the number of colposcopies needed to detect one CIN2+and CIN3+compared with direct COLP(n=14 and n=44).HPV16/18+increased the 24-month cumulative detection rate of CIN2+(17.89%,P<0.001).Conclusions:LBC triage for hrHPV-positive women in rural settings and direct COLP for HPV16/18+women and LBC triage for other hrHPV subtype+women in urban settings might be feasible strategies.Le Dang Linghua Kong Yuqian Zhao Yi Dai Li Ma Lihui Wei Shulan Zhang Jihong Liu Mingrong Xi Long Chen Xianzhi Duan Qing Xiao Guzhalinuer Abulizi Guonan Zhang Ying Hong Qi Zhou Xing Xie Li Li Mayinuer Niyazi Zhifen Zhang Jiyu Tuo Yiling Ding Youlin Qiao Jinghe Lang 2022Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2022,34,5:2
5FACS-iChip:a high-efficiency iChip system for microbial‘dark matter’mining显示文摘The isolation chip method(iChip)provides a novel approach for culturing previously uncultivable microorganisms;this method is currently limited by the user being unable to ensure single-cell loading within individual wells.To address this limitation,we integrated flow cytometry-based fluorescence-activated cell sorting with a modified iChip(FACS-iChip)to effectively mine microbial dark matter in soils.This method was used for paddy soils with the aim of mining uncultivable microorganisms and making preliminary comparisons between the cultured microorganisms and the bulk soil via 16S rRNA gene sequencing.Results showed that the FACS-iChip achieved a culture recovery rate of almost 40%and a culture retrieval rate of 25%.Although nearly 500 strains were cultured from 19 genera with 8 FACS-iChip plates,only six genera could be identified via 16S rRNA gene amplification.This result suggests that the FACS-iChip is capable of detecting strains in the currently dead spaces of PCR-based sequencing technology.We,therefore,conclude that the FACS-iChip system provides a highly efficient and readily available approach for microbial‘dark matter’mining.Haoze Liu Ran Xue Yiling Wang Erinne Stirling Shudi Ye Jianming Xu Bin Ma 2021Marine Life Science & Technology2021,3,2:1
6Pervasive hybridization during evolutionary radiation of Rhododendron subgenus Hymenanthes in mountains of southwest China显示文摘Radiations are especially important for generating species biodiversity in mountainous ecosystems.The contribution of hybridization to such radiations has rarely been examined.Here,we use extensive genomic data to test whether hybridization was involved in evolutionary radiation within Rhododendron subgenus Hymenanthes,whose members show strong geographic isolation in the mountains of southwest China.We sequenced genomes for 143 species of this subgenus and 93 species of four other subgenera,and found that Hymenanthes was monophyletic and radiated during the late Oligocene to middle Miocene.Widespread hybridization events were inferred within and between the identified clades and subclades.This suggests that hybridization occurred both early and late during diversification of subgenus Hymenan thes,although the extent to which hybridization,speciation through mixing-isolation-mixing or hybrid speciation,accelerated the diversification needs further exploration.Cycles of isolation and contact in such and other montane ecosystems may have together promoted species radiation through hybridization between diverging populations and species.Similar radiation processes may apply to other montane floras in this region and elsewhere.Yazhen Ma Xingxing Mao Ji Wang Lei Zhang Yuanzhong Jiang Yuying Geng Tao Ma Liming Cai Shuangquan Huang Pete Hollingsworth Kangshan Mao Minghui Kang Yiling Li Wenlu Yang Haolin Wu Yang Chen Charles C.Davis Nawal Shrestha Richard H.Ree Zhenxiang Xi Quanjun Hu Richard I.Milne Jianquan Liu 2022National Science Review2022,9,12:1

8The Amygdala Responds Rapidly to Flashes Linked to Direct Retinal Innervation:A Flash-evoked Potential Study Across Cortical and Subcortical Visual Pathways显示文摘Rapid detection and response to visual threats are critical for survival in animals.The amygdala(AMY)is hypothesized to be involved in this process,but how it interacts with the visual system to do this remains unclear.By recording flash-evoked potentials simultaneously from the superior colliculus(SC),lateral posterior nucleus of the thalamus,AMY,lateral geniculate nucleus(LGN)and visual cortex,which belong to the cortical and subcortical pathways for visual fear processing,we investigated the temporal relationship between these regions in visual processing in rats.A quick flash-evoked potential(FEP)component was identified in the AMY.This emerged as early as in the LGN and was approximately 25 ms prior to the earliest component recorded in the SC,which was assumed to be an important area in visual fear.This quick P1 component in the AMY was not affected by restraint stress or corticosterone injection,but was diminished by RU38486,a glucocorticoid receptor blocker.By injecting a monosynaptic retrograde AAV tracer into the AMY,we found that it received a direct projection from the retina.These results confirm the existence of a direct connection from the retina to the AMY,that the latency in the AMY to flashes is equivalent to that in the sensory thalamus,and that the response is modulated by glucocorticoids.Yanmei Chen Yiling Ni Jianhong Zhou Hua Zhou Qian Zhong Xinyue Li Jichuan Zhang Yuanye Ma Jingkuan Wei 2021Neuroscience Bulletin2021,37,8:1

10Thiol Ligand-Modified Au for Highly Efficient Electroreduction of Nitrate to Ammonia显示文摘Electroreduction of nitrate(NO_(3)-)to ammonia(NH_(3))is an environmentally friendly route for NH_(3)production,serving as an appealing alternative to the Haber-Bosch process.Recently,various noble metal-based electrocatalysts have been reported for electroreduction of NO_(3)-.However,the application of pure metal electrocatalysts is still limited by unsatisfactory performance,owing to the weak adsorption of nitrogen-containing intermediates on the surface of pure metal electrocatalysts.In this work,we report thiol ligand-modified Au nanoparticles as the effective electrocatalysts toward electroreduction of NO_(3)-.Specifically,three mercaptobenzoic acid(MBA)isomers,thiosalicylic acid(ortho-MBA),3-mercaptobenzoic acid(meta-MBA),and 4-mercaptobenzoic acid(para-MBA),were employed to modify the surface of the Au nanocatalyst.During the NO_(3)-electroreduction,para-MBA modified Au(denoted as para-Au/C)displayed the highest catalytic activity among these Au-based catalysts.At-1.0 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode(vs RHE),para-Au/C exhibited a partial current density for NH_(3)of 472.2 mA cm^(-2),which was 1.7 times that of the pristine Au catalyst.Meanwhile,the Faradaic efficiency(FE)for NH_(3)reached 98.7%at-1.0 V vs RHE for para-Au/C.The modification of para-MBA significantly improved the intrinsic activity of the Au/C catalyst,thus accelerating the kinetics of NO_(3)-reduction and giving rise to a high NH_(3)yield rate of para-Au/C.Yuheng Wu Xiangdong Kong Yechao Su Jiankang Zhao Yiling Ma Tongzheng Ji Di Wu Junyang Meng Yan Liu Zhigang Geng Jie Zeng 2024Precision Chemistry2024,2,3:0
11Transcription-wide impact by RESCUE-induced off-target single-nucleotide variants in mammalian cells显示文摘RNA base editing is a promising tool in precise molecular therapy. Currently, there are two widely used RNA base editors, REPAIRand RESCUE. REPAIR only facilitates A-to-I conversions, while RESCUE performs both A-to-I and C-to-U conversions. Thus, RESCUEcan generate twice the number of mutations compared to REPAIR. However, transcription-wide impact due to RESCUE-induced offtarget single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) is not fully appreciated. Therefore, to determine the off-target effects of RESCUE-mediatedediting, we employed transcription-wide sequencing on cells edited by RESCUE. The SNVs showed different off-target effects onmRNA, circRNA, lncRNA, and miRNA expression patterns and their interacting networks. 14Production of dissolved organic carbon in the South China Sea:A modeling study显示文摘The South China Sea(SCS)is the largest semi-enclosed marginal sea in the western Pacific.The alternation of East Asian monsoon causes a significant seasonal pattern of chlorophyll,primary productivity,and export flux of sinking particles.However,the source and sink of dissolved organic carbon(DOC)pools with different bioavailability are less studied.Here we evaluated the seasonal production of DOC in labile,semi-labile and refractory forms using a coupled physical-biogeochemical model.This study aims to understand the dynamics and budgets of organic matters in the SCS.Model results show that the production of labile,semi-labile and refractory DOC is highly correlated with the net primary productivity(NPP)which is higher in winter and lower in summer,reflecting a dependence of DOC on the NPP.The seasonal variation in Pearl River discharge dominates the DOC production in the northern coastal region.In the northeast,the Kuroshio intrusion associated frontal system is attributed to cause high winter production.The DOC production in the southwest is controlled by both winter mixing and summer upwelling.The production of refractory DOC with the least bioavailability favors carbon sequestration.Its annual mean production is 1.8±0.5 mg C m^(−2) d^(−1),equivalent to 26%of the export flux of particulate organic carbon at 1000 m.Wentao MA Peng XIU Yi YU Yiling ZHENG Fei CHAI 2022Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,2:0

16Adjuvant chemotherapy versus adjuvant concurrent chemoradiotherapy after radical surgery for early-stage cervical cancer:a randomized,non-inferiority,multicenter trial显示文摘We conducted a prospective study to assess the non-inferiority of adjuvant chemotherapy alone versus adjuvant concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) as an alternative strategy for patients with early-stage (FIGO 2009 stage IB–IIA) cervical cancer having risk factors after surgery. The condition was assessed in terms of prognosis, adverse effects, and quality of life. This randomized trial involved nine centers across China. Eligible patients were randomized to receive adjuvant chemotherapy or CCRT after surgery. The primary end-point was progression-free survival (PFS). From December 2012 to December 2014, 337 patients were subjected to randomization. Final analysis included 329 patients, including 165 in the adjuvant chemotherapy group and 164 in the adjuvant CCRT group. The median follow-up was 72.1 months. The three-year PFS rates were both 91.9%, and the five-year OS was 90.6% versus 90.0% in adjuvant chemotherapy and CCRT groups, respectively. No significant differences were observed in the PFS or OS between groups. The adjusted HR for PFS was 0.854 (95% confidence interval 0.415–1.757;P = 0.667) favoring adjuvant chemotherapy, excluding the predefined non-inferiority boundary of 1.9. The chemotherapy group showed a tendency toward good quality of life. In comparison with post-operative adjuvant CCRT, adjuvant chemotherapy treatment showed non-inferior efficacy in patients with early-stage cervical cancer having pathological risk factors.
