1What is going on in magnesium alloys?显示文摘China has been developed into one of the most active regions in terms of both fundamental and applied research on magnesium(Mg) and its alloys in the world from a solid base laid by its prominent metallurgist and materials scientists over the past decades. Nowadays, a large number of young-generation researchers have been inspired by their predecessors and become the key participants in the fields of Mg alloys, which consequently led to the establishment of China Youth Scholar Society for Magnesium Alloys Research in 2015. Since then, the first two China Youth Scholars Symposiums on Mg Alloys Research had been held at Harbin(2015) and Chongqing(2016) China, respectively. A number of crucial research interests related to fundamental and applied Mg research were discussed at the conferences and summarized in this short perspective, aiming to boost far-reaching initiatives for development of new Mg-based materials to satisfy the requirements for a broad range of industrial employments. Herein, four main aspects are included as follows: i) Plastic deformation mechanism and strengthening strategy, ii) Design and development of new Mg-based materials, iii) Key service properties, and iv) New processing technologies.X.J. 2STUDY ON THE SHOCK WAVE CRYSTALLIZATION OF AMORPHOUS ALLOYS BY DSC显示文摘Shock wave and annealing crystallization of amorphous alloys FeSiB, FeMoSiB andFeCuNbSiB were studied by isothermal and non-isothermal DSC technique. It wasfound that the shock wave crystallization is very perfect, the fraction crystallized isvery close to 100%, though the period of crystallization is very short, only about10-4-10-6 s. Their produced phases differ from the parent phase in structure andcomposition. 4TiZr-base Bulk Metallic Glass with over 50 mm in Diameter显示文摘Low-cost TiZr-base bulk metallic glasses(BMGs)(Ti36.1Zr33.2Ni5.8Be24.9)100-xCux(x=5,7 and 9) with a maximum size of over 50 mm in diameter were developed by optimizing the alloy composition.The idea is initiated by selecting a particular microstructure comprising primary β-Ti dendrite and amorphous phase.Afterwards,based on this composition of amorphous phase,a class of TiZr-base bulk metallic glasses was designed step by step to reach the optimum composition range.The glass transition temperature(Tg),initial crystallization temperature(Tx) and width of supercooled region(△T) of(Ti36.1Zr33.2Ni5.8Be24.9)91Cu9 BMG are 611,655 and 44 K,respectively.The(Ti36.1Zr33.2Ni5.8Be24.9)91Cu9 BMG exhibits low density of 5.541 g·cm-3 and high compressive fracture strength of 1800 MPa,which promises the potential application as structural materials.M. 5Effects of welding parameters and post-heat treatment on mechanical properties of friction stir welded AA2195-T8 Al-Li alloy显示文摘In this study, the effects of main welding parameters(rotation speed(ω) and welding speed(v)) on the microstructure, micro-hardness distribution and tensile properties of friction stir welded(FSW)2195-T8 Al-Li alloy were investigated. The effects of T6 post-treatments at different solution and aging conditions on the mechanical properties and microstructure characteristics of the FSW joints were also investigated. The results show that with increasing and v, both strength and elongation of the joints increase first, and then decrease with further increase of and v. All the joints under varied welding parameters show significant strength loss, and the strength reaches only 65% of the base metal. The effect of T6 post-heat treatment on the mechanical properties of the joints depends on the solution and aging conditions. Two heat treatment processes(480℃× 0.5 h quenching + 180℃× 12 h,520℃× 0.5 h quenching + 180℃× 12 h aging) are found to increase the joint strength. Furthermore,low temperature quenching(480℃) is more beneficial to the joint strength. The joint strength can reach 85% of the base metal. Whereas both low temperature aging(140℃× 56 h) and stepped aging(100℃× 12 h + 180℃× 3 h) processes decrease the joint strength. After heat treatment all the joints show decreased ductility due to the obvious grain coarsening in the nugget zone(NZ) and thermo-mechanically affected zone(TMAZ).J. Zhang X.S. Feng J.S. Gao H. 7MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF Mg-Li ALLOY WITH Ca ADDITION显示文摘Mg-9wt%Li-2wt%Zn alloy was prepared and studied in this article. The addition of Ca to the alloy from 0.1wt% to 1wt% can refine the α-Mg and the best effect of refinement occurs when Ca content is 0.4wt%-0.5wt%. The billets can be rolled to thin sheets at room temperature, from which it is obvious that the addition of Ca improves alloys’ formality, while it decreases with the excess addition of Ca. The results also show that the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and yield strength (YS) of the alloy with 1wt% Ca may rise by 28% and 25%, respectively, however, the elongation decreases. It is clarified that the adsorption of proper Ca on the grain boundaries refines α-Mg and improves the tensile properties, but the presence of excess Ca and stable Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase worsens the elongation.H.B. 11EFFECT OF CHROMIUM AND BORON ON ENVIRONMENTAL EMBRITTLEMENT OF FORGED Fe_3Al显示文摘The effects of addition of chromium or boron on room temperature tensile properties,fracture behavior and susceptibility to test environments (air vs. vacuuwi of forged Fe3Al have been investigated. The results indicated that both chromium and boron result in increasing room temperuture ductility and fracture strength of the Fe3Al alloy whether tested in air or in vacuum. The susceptibility to test envimnment was described with the embrittlement index I: I=(δv-δA)/δv. The embrittlement indexes, for Fe-30Al, Fe-30Al-4Cr and Fe-30Al-0. 13B (at. %), are 24%, 37% and 29%,respectively. Scanning electron microscope examination of fracture surface revealed that the fracture mode of the three alloys remains unchanged, and all of them exhibited a transgranular cleavage fracture mode when tested in vacuum or air.J.Q. 12Influence of Re on the Properties of a NiCoCrAlY Coating Alloy显示文摘MCrAlY can serve as stand-alone overlay coatings or bond coats in thermal barrier coating systems, and its properties play a vital role in determining the performance of these coating systems. In order to further understand the behavior of MCrAlY coatings, several NiCoCrAlY model alloys with different levels of Re (0.3 wt%, 6 wt%, and 9 wt%) were investigated. Microstructural observation showed the addition of Re promoted the precipitation of Cr-rich phases, such as α-Cr and σ. The presence of α-Cr lowered the coecient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the coating alloys, which could reduce the CTE mismatch at the scale-metal interface. The solid solution strengthening effect of Re is responsible for an increase in Rockwell hardness of the coating alloys. But the isothermal oxidation resistance at 1100oC was deteriorated due to the precipitation of brittle α-Cr phase, a phase of inferior oxidation resistance compared with β-NiAl and γ-Ni.J.J. Liang H. 13STUDY ON STRUCTURES OF Al-CuAl_2 EUTECTIC SOLIDIFIED UNDER ELECTROMAGNETIC STIRRING显示文摘An investigation on electromagnetically-stirred solidification of Al-CuAl2 eutectic system is presented in this paper. With electromagnetic stirring in solidification, structural transition from lamellar to rod-like eutectic has been found in the as-cast structures, and provided strong stirring is applied, proeutectic growth of α-Al phase is enhanced. Moreover, the interphase spacing of eutectic is clearly increased with melt flow intensified. 14STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF BORON CONTENT ON THE ORDERED EXTENT OF THE Ni_3Al INTERMETALLICS COMPOUND BY AP-FIM显示文摘By using AP-FIM the varity of the ordered degree of Ni3Al with L12 structure with B content was studied. The possibility of boron improving ductility was also discussed from bonding between Ni and Al atoms, and antisite defects in Ni3Al. The extent of ordering is reduced with an increase in boron content and the autisite defects are most obvious for 0.52at.K B-doped sample that has the best ductility. Some results were verified by X-ray diffraction non. The addition of boron not only influences electron environment at grain boundary but also in the interior of Ni3Al gm ins, the latter is favorable to improve the ductility of Ni3Al grains.D.G. 16Measurements of γ/γ' Lattice Misfit and γ' Volume Fraction for a Ru-containing Nickel-based Single Crystal Superalloy显示文摘A conventional X-ray diffractometer has been used to determine the γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction for a Ru-containing nickel-based single crystal superalloy at room temperature.The rocking curve was used to characterize the distribution of subgrains.The diffraction peaks obtained by ω-2θ scan were used to determine the γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction.A three peaks fitting model was proposed.The peak fitting results are in good agreement with the model.The X-ray diffraction results indicate that the nickel-based single crystal superalloy was not a perfect monocrystalline material,which is comprised of many subgrains;and each subgrain also consists of large numbers of mosaic structures.In addition,two anomalous reflection phenomena were found during the experiment and discussed with respect to their occurrence and impact on the measurement.The experimental results show that the γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction will be various at the different regions of its dendritic microstructure.The average γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction of the experimental alloy are approximately-0.2% and 70%,respectively.Furthermore,the γ volume fraction calculated by atom microprobe(AP) data is also basically consistent with the experimental results.X.P. 18Synthesis and Characterization of Fe_(50)Cr_(14)Mo_(14)C_(14)B_6Gd_2 Bulk Amorphous Steel显示文摘Bulk amorphous steel having 7 mm thickness was synthesized to evaluate its thermal stability and mechanical properties.The steel was synthesized by Cu mold casting technique using 1-2N pure metals.Characterization of the material was done by X-ray diffraction,differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy.The activation energies were calculated by Kissinger equation and it was found that the steel had better stability against crystallization.Mechanical properties like Vicker s hardness,nanohardness,elastic modulus and elastic recovery of as-cast and annealed samples were measured.It was concluded that the present steel had good glass-forming ability(GFA) and mechanical properties.M.
