| 1 | Artificially triggered lightning and its characteristic discharge parameters in two severe thunderstorms显示文摘The lightning-induced-damages in the mid-latitude regions are usually caused during severe thunder-storms. But the discharge parameters of natural lightning are difficult to be measured. Five lightning flashes have been artificially triggered with the rocket-wire technique during the passage of two severe thunderstorms. The discharge current and close electric field of return stroke in artificially triggered lightning have been obtained in microsecond time resolution by using current measuring systems and electric field change sensors. The results show that the five triggered lightning flashes include 1 to 10 return strokes, and the average return stroke current is 11.9 kA with a maximum of 21.0 kA and a mini-mum of 6.6 kA, similar to the subsequent return strokes in natural lightning. The half peak width of the current waveform is 39 μs, which is much larger than the usual result. The peak current of stroke Ip (kA) and the neutralized charge Q(C) has a relationship of Ip = 18.5Q0.65. The radiation field of return stroke is 5.9 kV·m-1 and 0.39 kV·m-1 at 60 m and 550 m, respectively. The radiation field decreases as r -1.119 with increase of horizontal distance r from the discharge channel. Based on the well-accepted transmission line model, the speed of return stroke is estimated to be about 1.4×108 m·s-1, with a variation range of (1.1―1.6)×108 m·s-1. | 2 | Combined use of phospholipid complexes and self-emulsifying microemulsions for improving the oral absorption of a BCS class IV compound, baicalin显示文摘The aim of this study was to develop a formulation to improve the oral absorption of baicalin(BA)by combining a phospholipid complex(PC)and self-emulsifying microemulsion drug delivery system(SMEDDS),termed BA–PC–SMEDDS.BA–PC was prepared by a solvent evaporation method and evaluated by complexation percentage(CP).The physicochemical properties of BA–PC were determined.The synergistic effect of PC and SMEDDS on permeation of BA was studied in vitro with Caco-2 cells and in situ with a single pass intestinal perfusion model.The improved bioavailability of BA in BA–PC–SMEDDS was confirmed in an in vivo rat model.The CP of BA–PC reached 100%when the molar ratio of drug to phospholipid(PP)was Z1:1.The solubility of BA–PC increased in both water and octanol,and the log P o/w of BA–PC was increased significantly.BA–PC–SMEDDS could be dispersed more evenly in water,compared to BA and BA–PC.Both the Caco-2 cell uptake and single-pass intestinal perfusion models illustrated that transport of BA in BA–PC was lower than that of free BA,while improved significantly in BA–PC–SMEDDS.The relative bioavailability of BA–PC(1:2)–SMEDDS was 220.37%.The combination system of PC and SMEDDS had a synergistic effect on improving the oral absorption of BA. | Huiyi Wu Xiaoying Long Fei Yuan Li Chen Sujing Pan Yunjun Liu Yoshiko Stowell Xiaoling Li | 2014 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2014,4,3: | 14 |
| 3 | QTG-Seq Accelerates QTL Fine Mapping through QTL Partitioning and Whole-Genome Sequencing of Bulked Segregant Samples显示文摘Deciphering the genetic mechanisms underlying agronomic traits is of great importance for crop improvement. Most of these traits are controlled by multiple quantitative trait loci (QTLs), and identifying the underlying genes by conventional QTL fine-mapping is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Here, we devised a new method, named quantitative trait gene sequencing (QTG-seq), to accelerate QTL fine-mapping. QTGseq combines QTL partitioning to convert a quantitative trait into a near-qualitative trait, sequencing of bulked segregant pools from a large segregating population, and the use of a robust new algorithm for identifying candidate genes. Using QTG-seq, we fine-mapped a plant-height QTL in maize (Zea mays L.), qPH7, to a 300-kb genomic interval and verified that a gene encoding an NF-YC transcription factor was the functional gene. Functional analysis suggested that qPH7-encoding protein might influence plant height by interacting with a CO-like protein and an AP2 domain-containing protein. Selection footprint ana卜 ysis indicated that qPH7 was subject to strong selection during maize improvement. | 4 | Minor alloying behavior in bulk metallic glasses and high-entropy alloys显示文摘The effect of minor alloying on several bulk metallic glasses and high-entropy al-loys was studied. It was found that minor Nb addition can optimize the interface structure between the W fiber and the Zr-based bulk metallic glass in the compos-ites,and improve the mechanical properties. Minor Y addition can destabilize the crystalline phases by inducing lattice distortion as a result to improve the glass-forming ability,and the lattice distortion energy is closely related to the effi-ciency of space filling of the competing crystalline phases. A long-period ordered structure can precipitate in the Mg-based bulk metallic glass by yttrium alloying. Research on atmospheric electricity has been actively conducted since the 1980 s in China. Lightning physics and its effects, as important branches of atmospheric electricity, have received more attention because of their significance both in scientific research and lightning protection applications. This paper reviews atmospheric electricity research based primarily on ground-based field experiments at different regions in China in the last decade. | 9 | Ferrimagnetic m PEG-b-PHEP copolymer micelles loaded with iron oxide nanocubes and emodin for enhanced magnetic hyperthermia–chemotherapy显示文摘As a non-invasive therapeutic method without penetration-depth limitation,magnetic hyperthermia therapy(MHT)under alternating magnetic field(AMF)is a clinically promising thermal therapy.However,the poor heating conversion efficiency and lack of stimulus–response obstruct the clinical application of magnetofluid-mediated MHT.Here,we develop a ferrimagnetic polyethylene glycol-poly(2-hexoxy-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane)(m PEG-b-PHEP)copolymer micelle loaded with hydrophobic iron oxide nanocubes and emodin(denoted as EMM).Besides an enhanced magnetic resonance(MR)contrast ability(r2=271 m M^-1 s^-1)due to the high magnetization,the specific absorption rate(2518 W/g at 35 k A/m)and intrinsic loss power(6.5 n Hm2/kg)of EMM are dozens of times higher than the clinically available iron oxide nanoagents(Feridex and Resovist),indicating the high heating conversion efficiency.Furthermore,this composite micelle with a flowable core exhibits a rapid response to magnetic hyperthermia,leading to an AMF-activated supersensitive drug release.With the high magnetic response,thermal sensitivity and magnetic targeting,this supersensitive ferrimagnetic nanocomposite realizes an above 70%tumor cell killing effect at an extremely low dosage(10μg Fe/m L),and the tumors on mice are completely eliminated after the combined MHT–chemotherapy. | Yonghong Song Dongdong Li Yang Lu Kun Jiang Yi Yang Yunjun Xu Liang Dong Xu Yan Daishun Ling Xianzhu Yang Shu-Hong Yu | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,4: | 4 |
| 10 | Maize MS2 encodes an ATP-binding cassette transporter that is essential for anther development显示文摘The anther cuticle and pollen exine play a critical role in male gametophyte development. The sporopollenin precursors and cuticular lipid monomers are transported to the surface of the microspores and the epidermis by lipid transport proteins(LTPs) and ATP-binding cassette G(ABCG) transporters for the formation of the pollen wall and anther cuticle, respectively. However, the function of ABCG transporters in maize anther development is unclear. Here, we cloned the MS2 gene from the maize male sterile2 mutant using map-based cloning and determined that it encodes an ABCG transporter. MS2 protein was experimentally confirmed to be located on the cell membrane. The quantitative real-time PCR(qRT-PCR)results showed that MS2 was ubiquitously expressed in all vegetative and reproductive tissues, whereas a high transcriptional level of MS2 was observed in anthers, especially at the young microspore stage. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC–MS) analysis showed decreased accumulation of cutin and wax components in ms2 anthers, indicating that MS2 plays a role in the transport of lipid molecules to anther cuticle and pollen exine. | 12 | Mechanical and thermal properties of mesogen-jacketed liquid crystalline polymer/epoxy resin composites显示文摘The effects of mesogen-jacketed liquid crystalline polymer poly(dipropyl vinylterephthalate)(PDPVT) on the mechanical and thermal properties of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A(DGEBA) epoxy resin were investigated by impact test, tensile test and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA). The mechanism underlying the enhancement of mechanical properties of epoxy resin was studied using 1D wide-angle X-ray diffraction(WAXD) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). It was found that the mechanical properties of 1 wt%–5 wt% PDPVT/DGEBA composites were significantly improved compared to neat epoxy resin. Especially, the epoxy resin with 3 wt% PDPVT had the greatest increase in mechanical properties, with the impact strength, tensile strength and elongation while breaking increased by 87%, 59% and 174%, respectively. The increased mechanical strength was due to the fact that PDPVT maintained liquid crystalline phase in cured PDPVT/DGEBA composites, which would blunt the crack tip and prevent crack propagation. | 15 | Numerical studies of reverse flows controlled by undulating leading edge显示文摘The improved delayed detached-eddy simulation(IDDES) method is used to simulate the reverse flows past an NACA0012 airfoil at medium(10°) and large(30°) angles of attack. The numerical results of the baseline configuration are compared with the available measurements. The effects of the undulating leading edge with four different amplitudes are compared and analyzed at angle of attack of 10°. Based on these analyses, the amplitude of A/C=0.04 yields the best performance. Compared with the uncontrolled case, the performances of the undulating leading edge are greatly improved with reducing of the aerodynamic fluctuations. | 19 | Fabrication and thermal decomposition of glycidyl azide polymer modified nitrocellulose double base propellants显示文摘Glycidyl azide polymer(GAP) with the advantages of non-volatility and excellent thermal stability is a candidate as a replacement for nitroglycerine(NG) in a double base propellant. The GAP-NC double base propellants were formulated with GAP and nitrocellulose(NC) fibers. Tensile test and SEM characterization indicated that GAP-NC propellants had a homogeneous structure. Thermogravimetric analysis of GAP-NC propellants revealed that the onset decomposition temperature reached a high level ranging from 192.9 to 194.6 °C, which indicated that the substitution of NG with GAP contributed to the safe storage and process operations for double base propellant. The result analysis of decomposition products of GAP-NC propellants showed that the main gas decomposition products of the propellants were NO, NO_2, CO, CO_2, NH_3, CH_4, HCN, N_2, CH_2O and C_2H_4O.
