2A New Species of Phoenicopsis Subgenus Windwardia(Florin) Samylina(Czekanowskiales) from the Middle Jurassic of Inner Mongolia, China显示文摘A new species of Phoenicopsis subgenus Windwardia(Florin) Samylina, Phoenicopsis neimengguensis sp.nov., is recognized from the Middle Jurassic Zhaogou Formation in the Shiguai Basin, a Jurassic coal-bearing sedimentary basin in Inner Mongolia, China. Linear leaves are in bundles of six to eight and are attached on a short shoot. The leaf is amphistomatic with one or two irregular rows of longitudinally oriented stomata in each intercostal zone on the upper epidermis and three or four(occasionally six) rows of stomata in each intercostal zone on the lower epidermis. Each stomata is surrounded by four to six subsidiary cells with unevenly developed papillae. The anticlinal walls of epidermal cells are straight. Cuticular thickenings or papillae are present on the outer surface of the periclinal walls. This is the first time that Phoenicopsis subgenus Windwardia(Florin) Samylina is recognized from the Middle Jurassic of Inner Mongolia, China. The occurrence of the new species is noteworthy because it extends the geological and geographic distribution of Phoenicopsis subg. Windwardia in China and Eurasia. The discovery is significant as it increases our knowledge of Phoenicopsis subg. 3Solenites (Czekanowskiales) from the Late Mesozoic Jehol Biota of Southeastern Jilin,China and its Paleoclimatic Implications显示文摘Situated at the easternmost area of the Late Mesozoic Jehol Biota, China, abundant fossils, including invertebrates, vertebrates and plants, were collected from the Early Cretaceous Yingzuilazi Formation of the Baishan Basin, southeastern Jilin. The faunal remains from this formation distinctly belong to the Early Cretaceous Lycoptera–Ephemeropsis–Eosestheria assemblage of the Jehol Biota. Based on the gross leaf morphology and epidermal structures, two new species and one indeterminate species of genus Solenites(Czekanowskiales), S. baishanensis sp. nov., S. gracilis sp. nov. and S. sp. are described in this paper. This is the first fossil plant of Czekanowskiales reported from this new fossil locality of the easternmost area of the Late Mesozoic Jehol Biota, China. The new discovery contributes to improve our knowledge for understanding of leaf morphology, epidermal characters and diversity of this genus during the Early Cretaceous time, and extends geologic and geographic distribution of Solenites in northern China and Eurasia. 4Anomozamites(Bennettitales) from Middle Jurassic Haifanggou Formation,western Liaoning,China显示文摘The Middle Jurassic Hangfanggou Formation is well exposed in Shangsanjiao and Xiasanjiao villages area,Baimashi town of Huludao,western Liaoning,China.Recently,abundant fossil plants were collected from the Hangfanggou Formation.One new species,Anomozamites sanjiaocunensis sp.nov.(Bennettitales),is described in this study.This is the first report of the genus Anomozamites from the Haifanggou Formation based upon the leaf morphology and epidermal structures.The discovery of the new species extends significantly the stratigraphic and geographic distribution of Anomozamites in the Middle Jurassic.It also shows that Anomozamites was a common member of Bennettitales once lived in the Middle Jurassic warm temperate region.The new species also improves the knowledge on understanding the leaf morphology,epidermal features and the diversity of Anomozamites during the Middle Jurassic.The epidermal characters of the new species and its associated plants reveal that the plants grew in a warm and moderately humid environment in the warm temperate zone.The presence of some deciduous plants,such as ginkgoaleans,czekanowskialeans and conifers,indicate the climate with seasonal fluctuations in temperature.ZHAO Miao SUN Chunlin David L.Dilcher ZHAO Zhe NA Yuling 2015Global Geology2015,18,2:3

6Flabellariopteris, a new aquatic fern leaf from the Late Triassic of western Liaoning, China显示文摘An aquatic fern leaf,Flabellariopteris mii Sun gen.et sp.nov.from the Late Triassic of Western Liaoning,China,is described and proposed as the type species of the new morphortaxon of the Marsileaceae.The fossil leaves are preserved as impression.No fertile and rhizomatic materials are found.The leaves attached at a common point on the top of the petiole are composed of two leaflets joined basally in an opposite arrangement.The petiole is slender.The leaflet is fan-shaped or semi-circular,and commonly divided into four wedge-shaped lobes.Terminal margin of lobes is usually incised,incisions shallow or deep,with bluntly rounded or notched apex.The veins are conspicuously dichotomous,but anastomoses and marginal vein are absent.The unique morphological features,including twoparted thin leaflets,size,shape,veins and slender petiole,indicate that the present specimen represents an aquatic fern,which is the oldest fossil record and the first megafossil evidence assignable to Marsileaceae from the Triassic floras.Chunlin Sun Tao Li Yuling Na Wenhao Wu Yunfeng Li Lixia Wang Lijun Zhang 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,20:2

9Plant G proteins interact with endoplasmic reticulum luminal protein receptors to regulate endoplasmic reticulum retrieval显示文摘Maintaining endoplasmic reticulum(ER) homeostasis is essential for the production of biomolecules.ER retrieval, i.e., the retrograde transport of compounds from the Golgi to the ER, is one of the pathways that ensures ER homeostasis. However, the mechanisms underlying the regulation of ER retrieval in plants remain largely unknown. Plant ERD2-like proteins(ERD2 s) were recently suggested to function as ER luminal protein receptors that mediate ER retrieval. Here, we demonstrate that heterotrimeric G protein signaling is involved in ERD2-mediated ER retrieval. We show that ERD2 s interact with the heterotrimeric G protein Ga and Ggsubunits at the Golgi. Silencing of Ga, Gb, or Gg increased the retention of ER luminal proteins. Furthermore,overexpression of Ga, Gb, or Gg caused ER luminal proteins to escape from the ER, as did the co-silencing of ERD2 a and ERD2 b. 10An introductory report on the biodiversity of Middle Jurassic Phoenicopsis(Czekanowskiales) from the Ordos Basin, China显示文摘Although the genus Phoenicopsis is the most common member of Czekanowskiales and is considered an indicative representative of the Middle Jurassic Coniopteris–Phoenicopsis assemblage in northern China, little was known about its taxonomy and biodiversity based upon the leaf cuticular structure. In this paper, three subgenera of the genus Phoenicopsis from the Middle Jurassic, Yan'an Formation of the Ordos Basin, China, Phoenicopsis(subg. Phoenicopsis)(Heer) Samylina, P.(subg. Windwardia)(Florin) Samylina and P.(subg. Culgoweria)(Florin) Samylina are identified based upon the leaf epidermal features for the first time. This discovery demonstrates that Phoenicopsis was quite diverse during the Middle Jurassic in northern China. Its biodiversity is significant for further understanding Middle Jurassic paleophytogeography and paleoclimatology of northern China. The current findings show that the three Phoenicopsis subgenera coexisted and flourished in the mixed zone(ecotone) between the Indo-Sinian Floristic Region and the Siberian Floristic Region as seasonal deciduous plants(trees or shrubs) during the Middle Jurassic. They were important elements in the Middle Jurassic deciduous gymnospermous forest community in warm temperate regions with seasonal temperature and precipitation variations. 11First report of subgenus Phoenicopsis(Czekanowskiales)from Middle Jurassic of Ordos,China and its paleoclimatic implications显示文摘Subgenus Phoenicopsis( Phoenicopsis) assigned to Czekanowskiales is recognized and a new species,Phoenicopsis( Ph.) ordosensis sp. nov. is first reported from the Middle Jurassic Yan'an Formation of the Ordos Basin,alternate based upon the leaf gross morphology and epidermal structures. The new species has linear leavs in bundles of five to six attached on a short shoot,more than 100 mm long by 5-6 mm wide,containing 10-12 parallel veins at upper portion. The leaf is hypostomatic. Epidermal cells are longitudinally arranged with smooth periclinal wall on the upper cuticle. The narrow non-stomatal zones and wide stomatal zones alternate in the lower cuticle. Stomata in four to five irregular spaced rows are longitudinally oriented in each stomatal zone.Guard cells for each are surrounded by four to five subsidiary cells with undeveloped papillae. Anticlinal walls of ordinary epidermal cells are nearly straight and periclinal walls slightly papillate. The new species shallow stomatal pits kept open and surrounded by unevenly undeveloped bulges. These characters are consistent with those of growth in a humid,rather than an arid climate. 12A new member of Sphenopsida,Neolobatannularia gen. nov. from Late Triassic of western Liaoning,China显示文摘A new genus Neolobatannularia Sun et Li gen. nov. with the type species Neolobatannularia liaoningensis Sun et Li sp. nov. from the Upper Triassic Yangcaogou Formation of Beipiao, Liaoning, China, is described in this paper. The new taxon is attributed to Equisetales of Sphenopsida based on its branch with internodes, node and leaves borne in whorls on nodes. It is a new member of the Mesozoic Sphenopsida. Although the new taxon shares some morphological characters with the genus Lobatannularia Kawasaki, a genus widely distributed in the Permian Cathaysia flora in East Asia, and the genus Lobatannulariopsis Yang from the Late Triassic of southwestern China, its unique branching pattern is markedly distinguished from the two known genera.
