1Large-scale analysis of small RNAs derived from traditional Chinese herbs in human tissues显示文摘Plant-derived microRNAs have recently been reported to function in human blood and tissues. Controversy was immediately raised due to possible contamination and the lack of large sample sizes. Here, we report thousands of unique small RNAs derived from traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) herbs found in human blood cells and mouse lung tissues using a large-scale analysis.We extracted small RNAs from decoctions of 10 TCM plants(Ban Zhi Lian, Chai Hu, Chuan Xin Lian, Di Ding Zi Jin, Huang Qin, Jin Yin Hua, Lian Qiao, Pu Gong Ying, Xia Ku Cao, and Yu Xing Cao) and obtained millions of RNA sequences from each herb. We also obtained RNA-Seq data from the blood cells of humans who consumed herbal decoctions and from the lung tissues of mice administered RNAs from herbal decoctions via oral gavage. We identified thousands of unique small RNA sequences in human blood cells and mouse lung tissues. Some of these identified small RNAs from Chuan Xin Lian and Hong Jing Tian could be mapped to the genomes of the herbs, confirming their TCM plant origin. 2Signaling pathways and therapeutic interventions in gastric cancer显示文摘Gastric cancer(GC)ranks fifth in global cancer diagnosis and fourth in cancer-related death.Despite tremendous progress in diagnosis and therapeutic strategies and significant improvements in patient survival,the low malignancy stage is relatively asymptomatic and many GC cases are diagnosed at advanced stages,which leads to unsatisfactory prognosis and high recurrence rates.With the recent advances in genome analysis,biomarkers have been identified that have clinical importance for GC diagnosis,treatment,and prognosis.Modern molecular classifications have uncovered the vital roles that signaling pathways,including EGFR/HER2,p53,PI3K,immune checkpoint pathways,and cell adhesion signaling molecules,play in GC tumorigenesis,progression,metastasis,and therapeutic responsiveness.These biomarkers and molecular classifications open the way for more precise diagnoses and treatments for GC patients.Nevertheless,the relative significance,temporal activation,interaction with GC risk factors,and crosstalk between these signaling pathways in GC are not well understood.Here,we review the regulatory roles of signaling pathways in GC potential biomarkers,and therapeutic targets with an emphasis on recent discoveries.Current therapies,including signaling-based and immunotherapies exploited in the past decade,and the development of treatment for GC,particularly the challenges in developing precision medications,are discussed.These advances provide a direction for the integration of clinical,molecular,and genomic profiles to improve GC diagnosis and treatments.Zi-Ning Lei Qiu-Xu Teng Qin Tian Wei Chen Yuhao Xie Kaiming Wu Qianlin Zeng Leli Zeng Yihang Pan Zhe-Sheng Chen Yulong He 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,11:4
3Carbonized wood with ordered channels decorated by NiCo_(2)O_(4) for lightweight and high-performance microwave absorber显示文摘Wood-derived carbon has a 3D porous framework composed of through channels along the growth direction,which is a suitable matrix for preparing electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorbing materials with low cost,light weight,and environmental friendliness.Herein,the carbonized wood decorated by short cone-like NiCo_(2)O_(4)(NiCo_(2)O_(4)@CW)with highly ordered straight-channel architecture was successfully manufactured through a facile calcination procedure.The horizontal arrangement of the through channels of NiCo_(2)O_(4)@CW(H-NiCo_(2)O_(4)@CW)exhibits a strong reflection loss value of-64.0 dB at 10.72 GHz with a thickness of 3.62 mm and a low filling ratio of 26 wt%(with the density of 0.98 g-cnf3),and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)is 8.08 GHz(9.92-18.0 GHz)at the thickness of 3.2 mm.The excellent microwave absorption(MA)property was ascribed to the ordered-channel structure with abundant interfaces and defects from NiCo_(2)O_(4)@CW,which could promote the interfacial polarization and dipole polarization.What is more,this advantageous structure increased the multiple reflections and scattering.Finite element analysis(FEA)simulation is carried out to detect the interaction between the prepared material and EMW when the ordered channels are arranged in different directions.This research provides a low-cost,sustainable,and environmentally friendly strategy for using carbonized wood to fabricate microwave absorbers with strong attenuation capabilities and light weight.Guangyu QIN Xiaoxiao HUANG Xu YAN Yunfei HE Yuhao LIU Long XIA Bo ZHONG 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,1:2
4Effects of an ultra-high magnetic field up to 25 T on the phase transformations of undercooled Co-B eutectic alloy显示文摘While there have been multiple recent reports in the literature focusing on the effects of magnetic field on the phase transformation behaviors,the research conducted with an ultra-high magnetic field greater than 20 T is still preliminary.In the current study,the structure evolution of Co-B alloys are experimentally studied with undercooling.The effects of a 25 T magnetic field on the solidification behavior and the subsequent solid-state phase transformation behavior have been investigated.The 25 T magnetic field is confirmed to have little effect on the homogeneous nucleation,but have some influence on the heterogeneous nucleation of Co_(3) B and Co_(23)B6 phases by modifying the wetting angleθ.The decomposition of Co_(23)B6 phase in the subsequent cooling process can be effectively suppressed by applying the 25 T magnetic field.The present work might be helpful for not only theoretically understanding the influence of ultra-high magnetic field on the phase transformation behaviors but a potential technology of field-manipulation of magnetic materials.Yixuan He Yuhao Wua Fan Bu Chengxiong Zou Zhangchi Bian Qiliang Huang Tie Liu Qiang Wang Jun Wang Jinshan Li Eric Beaugnon 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,34:2
5Numerical simulation of low-concentration CO_(2) adsorption on fixed bed using finite element analysis显示文摘Accurately predicting distributions of concentration and temperature field in fixed-bed column is essential for designing adsorption processes.In this study,a two-dimensional(2D),axisymmetric,nonisothermal,dynamic adsorption model was established by coupling equations of mass,momentum and energy balance,and solved by finite element analysis.The simulation breakthrough curves fit well with the low-concentration CO_(2) adsorption experimental data,indicating the reliability of the established model.The distributions of concentration and temperature field in the column for CO_(2) adsorption and separation from CO_(2)/N_(2) were obtained.The sensitivity analysis of the adsorption conditions shows that the operation parameters such as feed flow rate,feed concentration,pellet size,and column height-to-diameter ratio produce a significant effect on the dynamic adsorption performance.The multi-physics coupled 2D axisymmetric model could provide a theoretical foundation and guidance for designing CO_(2) fixed-bed adsorption and separation processes,which could be extended to other mixed gases as well.Yonghou Xiao Shuang Qiu Qidong Zhao Yuhao Zhu Chirag BGodiya Gaohong He 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,8:2
6Research on Dynamic and Static Test Methods for Evaluating the Poisson's Ratio of Orien ted Strand Board显示文摘In this article,dynamic method and static method of testing Poisson's ratio of OSB(Oriented Strand Board)were proposed.Through modal and static numerical analyses,the position where the transverse stress is equal to zero was determined.The binary linear regression method was applied to express the gluing position of the strain gauge as a relational express ion that depended on the length-width ratio and width-thickness ratio of the canti-lever plate.Then the longitudinal and transverse Poisson's ratios of OSB were mea sured by the given dynamic and static methods.In addition,the test results of OSB Poisson's ratio were analyzed with the probability distribution of random variables.The results showed that using the proposed dynamic method and static method,the test results for longitudinal and transverse Poisson's ratios of OSB were quite consistent,despite the gluing position of the strain gauges being different.And these OSB Poisson's ratios were accorded with that obtained by the axial tensile method and the four-point bending method.OSB longitudinal and transverse Poisson's ratios followed Weibull distribution.Yuhao Zhou Yuhang He Zhaoyu Shen Zheng Wang 2022Journal of Renewable Materials2022,10,12:1
7Novel mechanical behavior of periodic structure with the pattern transformation显示文摘In periodic cellular structures,novel pattern transformations are triggered by a reversible elastic instability under the axial compression.Based on the deformation-triggered new pattern,periodic cellular structures can achieve special mechanical properties.In this paper,the designed architecture materials which include elastomer matrixes containing empty holes or filled holes with hydrogel material are modeled and simulated to investigate the mechanical property of the periodic materials.By analyzing the relationship between nominal stress and nominal strain of periodic material,and the corresponding deformed patterns,the influence of geometry and shapes of the holes on the mechanical property of architecture material is studied in more details.We hope this study can provide future perspectives for the deformation-triggered periodic structures.Jianying Hu Yuhao He Jincheng Lei Zishun Liu 2013Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2013,3,5:1
8p38α has an important role in antigen cross-presentation by dendritic cells显示文摘The role of the p38 signaling pathway in the innate and adaptive immune responses has been well documented,especially in inflammatory cytokine production by dendritic cells(DCs).However,whether the p38 signaling pathway affects the important antigen(Ag)presentation function of DCs remains largely unknown.In this study,we reported that the deletion of p38αresulted in an impaired cross-presentation ability of CD8^(+) conventional DCs(cDCs)and a reduction in the direct presentation ability of CD8−cDCs ex vivo.Further study revealed that p38αhad a crucial role in Ag processing by CD8^(+) cDCs but did not affect the Ag uptake or co-stimulation of T cells.Moreover,p38αdeficiency led to reduced cross-priming of T cells in vivo.The production of the IL-12p40 and IL-12p70 cytokines by p38α-deficient cDCs was also significantly reduced.Our study identified a new role for p38αin modulating the important antigen cross-presentation function of DCs.Yifan Zhou Jianfeng Wu Chunxiao Liu Xueheng Guo Xinyi Zhu Yuan Yao Yuhao Jiao Peng He Jiahuai Han Li Wu 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,3:1
9Broadband athermal waveguides and resonators for datacom and telecom applications显示文摘The high-temperature sensitivity of the silicon material index limits the applications of silicon-based micro-ring resonators in integrated photonics. To realize a low but broadband temperature-dependent-wavelength-shift microring resonator, designing a broadband athermal waveguide becomes a significant task. In this work,we propose a broadband athermal waveguide that shows a low effective thermo-optical coefficient of1 × 10^(-6)∕K from 1400 to 1700 nm. 13Influence of residual chirality on the conformation and enzymatic degradation of glycopolypeptide based biomaterials显示文摘Glycopolypeptides as analogs of glycoproteins or glycosaminoglycans represent attractive building blocks for the construction of biomimetic biomaterials.However,the effects of amino acid chirality on the conformation and enzymatic degradation of glycopolypeptides are often overlooked.Here,we synthesized and characterized a range of glycopolypeptides composed of galactosylated poly(γ-propargylglutamate)s containing L-and/or D-glutamate residues.Glycopolypeptides containing pure Lglutamate residues were predominantlyα-helical,and the helicity increased over the degree of polymerization of the polypeptide backbones(24 to 44).The glycopolypeptide with pure D-glutamate residues adopted a mirroredα-helical conformation,whilst apparent random coil conformation was observed for the glycopolypeptide with equally mixed enantiomeric residues.The enzymatic degradation rates of the glycopolypeptides were markedly reduced following the introduction of D-glutamate residues into backbones.Galactoside pendants on these glycopolypeptides maintained their binding to peanut agglutinin.These structureproperty relationships provide new insight for the design of biomimetic biomaterials containing glycopolypeptides.SHI Shun WANG JiaYu WANG TianRan REN Hui ZHOU YuHao LI Gao HE ChaoLiang CHEN XueSi 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,3:1
14Liquid state dependent solidification of a Co-B eutectic alloy under a high magnetic field显示文摘The structure transition inside the Co-81.5at.%B alloy liquid has been studied by an in-situ magnetization measurement.A crossover was observed on the 1/M-T curve during the overheating process,indicating that a liquid-liquid structure transition(LLST)took place in the melt.Based on this information,the effects of LLST on the solidification behavior,microstructure and tribology property were investigated experimentally.The sample solidified with the LLST exhibits significantly different solidification behaviors,i.e.,the nucleation undercooling and the recalescence extent are conspicuously enlarged,and the solidification time is shortened.As a result,the microstructure is effectively refined and homogenized,and the hardness and wear resistance are significantly enhanced.The present work might be helpful for not only theoretically understanding the influence of LLST on the solidification behavior but also providing an alternative approach to tailor the microstructure and properties.Yixuan He Fan Bu Yuhao Wu Jianbao Zhang Dawei Luo Zhangchi Bian Qing Zhou Tie Liu Qiang Wang Jun Wang Haifeng Wang Jinshan Li Eric Beaugnon 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,21:1
15Interplay between entanglement and crosslinking in determining mechanical behaviors of polymer networks显示文摘In polymer physics,the concept of entanglement refers to the topological constraints between long polymer chains that are closely packed together.Both theory and experimentation suggest that entanglement has a significant influence on the mechanical properties of polymers.This indicates its promise for materials design across various applications.However,understanding the relationship between entanglement and mechanical properties is complex,especially due to challenges related to length scale constraints and the diffculties of direct experimental observation.This research delves into how the polymer network structure changes when deformed.We specifically examine the relationship between entanglement,crosslinked networks,and their roles in stretching both entangled and unentangled polymer systems.For unentangled polymers,our findings underscore the pivotal role of crosslinking bond strength in determining the system's overall strength and resistance to deformation.As for entangled polymers,entanglement plays a pivotal role in load bearing during the initial stretching stage,preserving the integrity of the polymer network.As the stretching continues and entanglement diminishes,the responsibility for bearing the load increasingly shifts to the crosslinking network,signifying a critical change in the system's behavior.We noted a linear correlation between the increase in entanglement and the rise in tensile stress during the initial stretching stage.Conversely,the destruction of the network correlates with a decrease in tensile stress in the later stage.The findings provide vital insights into the complex dynamics between entanglement and crosslinking in the stretching processes of polymer networks,offering valuable guidance for future manipulation and design of polymer materials to achieve desired'mechanical properties.Yuhao Liu Weikang Xian Jinlong He Ying Li 2023International Journal of Smart and Nano Materials2023,14,4:0

17Fano resonance-enhanced Si/MoS_(2) photodetector显示文摘In this work,a Si∕MoS_(2) heterojunction photodetector enhanced by hot electron injection through Fano resonance is developed.By preparing Au oligomers using capillary-assisted particle assembly(CAPA)on the silicon substrate with a nanohole array and covering few-layer MoS_(2) with Au electrodes on top of the oligomer structures,the Fano resonance couples with a Si∕MoS_(2) heterojunction.With on-resonance excitation,Fano resonance generated many hot electrons on the surface of oligomers,and the hot electrons were injected into MoS_(2),providing an increased current in the photodetector under a bias voltage.The photodetectors exhibited a broadband photoresponse ranging from 450 to 1064 nm,and a large responsivity up to 52 A/W at a wavelength of 785 nm under a bias voltage of 3 V.The demonstrated Fano resonance-enhanced Si∕MoS_(2) heterojunction photodetector provides a strategy to improve the photoresponsivity of two-dimensional materials-based photodetectors for optoelectronic applications in the field of visible and near-infrared detection.TIANXUN GONG BOYUAN YAN TAIPING ZHANG WEN HUANG YUHAO HE XIAOYU XU SONG SUN XIAOSHENG ZHANG 2023Photonics Research2023,11,12:0

20Optimal Placement of Phasor Measurement Unit in Smart Grids Considering Multiple Constraints显示文摘The distribution of measurement noise is usually assumed to be Gaussian in the optimal phasor measurement unit(PMU)placement(OPP)problem.However,this is not always accurate in practice.This paper proposes a new OPP method for smart grids in which the effects of conventional measurements,limited channels of PMUs,zero-injection buses(ZIBs),single PMU loss contingency,state estimation error(SEE),and the maximum SEE variance(MSEEV)are considered.The SEE and MSEEV are both obtained using a robust t-distribution maximum likelihood estimator(MLE)because t-distribution is more flexible for modeling both Gaussian and non-Gaussian noises.The A-and G-optimal experimental criteria are utilized to form the SEE and MSEEV constraints.This allows the optimization problem to be converted into a linear objective function subject to linear matrix inequality observability constraints.The performance of the proposed OPP method is verified by the simulations of the IEEE 14-bus,30-bus,and 118-bus systems as well as the 211-bus practical distribution system in China.Tengpeng Chen He Ren Yuhao Sun Markus Kraft Gehan A.J.Amaratunga 2023Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2023,11,2:0
