Characterization of dissolved organic matter in urban sewage using excitation emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy and parallel factor analysis显示文摘Wastewater dissolved organic matter (DOM) from different processing stages of a sewage treatment plant in Xiamen was characterized using fluorescence and absorption spectroscopy. Parallel factor analysis modeling of excitation-emission matrix spectra revealed five fluorescent components occurring in sewage DOM: one protein-like (C1), three humic-like (C2, C4 and C5) and one xenobiotic-like (C3) components. During the aerated grit chamber and primary sedimentation tank stage, there was only a slight decrease in fluorescence intensity and the absorption coefficient at 350 nm (a 350 ). During the second aeration stage, high concentration of protein-like and short-wavelength-excited humic-like components were significantly degraded accompanied by significant loss of DOC (80%) and a 350 (30%), indicating that C1 and C2 were the dominant constituents of sewage DOM. As a result, long-wavelength-excited C4 and C5 became the dominant humic-like components and the DOM molecular size inferred from the variation of spectral slope S (300-650 nm) and specific absorption (a 280 /DOC) increased. Combination use of F max of C1 and the ratio of C1/C5, or a 350 may provide a quantitative indication for the relative amount of raw or treated sewage in aquatic environment. | Weidong Guo Jing Xu Jiangping Wang Yingrou Wen Jianfu Zhuo Yuchao Yan | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,11: | 36

Salient Object Detection from Multi-spectral Remote Sensing Images with Deep Residual Network显示文摘alient object detection aims at identifying the visually interesting object regions that are consistent with human perception. Multispectral remote sensing images provide rich radiometric information in revealing the physical properties of the observed objects, which leads to great potential to perform salient object detection for remote sensing images. Conventional salient object detection methods often employ handcrafted features to predict saliency by evaluating the pixel-wise or superpixel-wise contrast. With the recent use of deep learning framework, in particular, fully convolutional neural networks, there has been profound progress in visual saliency detection. However, this success has not been extended to multispectral remote sensing images, and existing multispectral salient object detection methods are still mainly based on handcrafted features, essentially due to the difficulties in image acquisition and labeling. In this paper, we propose a novel deep residual network based on a top-down model, which is trained in an end-to-end manner to tackle the above issues in multispectral salient object detection. Our model effectively exploits the saliency cues at different levels of the deep residual network. To overcome the limited availability of remote sensing images in training of our deep residual network, we also introduce a new spectral image reconstruction model that can generate multispectral images from RGB images. Our extensive experimental results using both multispectral and RGB salient object detection datasets demonstrate a significant performance improvement of more than 10% improvement compared with the state-of-the-art methods. | Yuchao DAI Jing ZHANG Mingyi HE Fatih PORIKLI Bowen LIU | 2019 | Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2019,2,2: | 14

Necklace-like Si@C nano?bers as robust anode materials for high performance lithium ion batteries显示文摘Silicon is believed to be a promising anode material for lithium ion batteries because of its highest theoretical capacity and low discharge potential. However, severe pulverization and capacity fading caused by huge volume change during cycling limits its practical application. In this work, necklace-like N-doped carbon wrapped mesoporous Si nanofibers(NL-Si@C) network has been synthesized via electrospinning method followed by magnesiothermic reduction reaction process to suppress these issues. The mesoporous Si nanospheres are wrapped with N-doped carbon shells network to form yolk-shell structure.Interestingly, the distance of adjacent Si@C nanospheres can be controllably adjusted by different addition amounts of SiO_2 nanospheres. When used as an anode material for lithium ion batteries, the NL-Si@C-0.5 exhibits best cycling stability and rate capability. The excellent electrochemical performances can be ascribed to the necklace-like network structure and N-doped carbon layers, which can ensure fast ions and electrons transportation, facilitate the electrolyte penetration and provide finite voids to allow large volume expansion of inner Si nanoparticles. Moreover, the protective carbon layers are also beneficial to the formation of stable solid electrolyte interface film. | Xiangzhong Kong Yuchao Zheng Yaping Wang Shuquan Liang Guozhong Cao Anqiang Pan | 2019 | Science Bulletin2019,64,4: | 13
Correlation between lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms and quality of life in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore correlations between the symptoms of constipation and abdominal distention and severity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)in patients with stable disease.METHODS:We studied 191 patients with stable COPD(according to defined criteria)in this cross-sectional study from four three-level class A Chinese medicine hospitals in China. We built an Epidata 3.0 database and performed statistical analysis with SPSS,version 17.0.We analyzed correlations between the frequency of lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms(constipation and abdominal distention)and scores for major pulmonary symptoms(cough, sputum and wheezing)based on the St.George's Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ),6-minute walking distance(6MWD)and frequency of acute exacerbations of COPD(AECOPD).RESULTS:In addition to their pulmonary symptoms,39.79%and 40.31%of study patients withstable COPD reported constipation and abdominal distention, respectively.Scores for major pulmonary symptoms(cough, sputum and wheezing),AECOPD and SGRQ values in patients with constipation and abdominal distention were significantly greater, and the 6MWD markedly shorter, than in those without them.According to Pearson's correlation analysis, there were strong correlations between these lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms and scores for pulmonary symptoms,SGRQ,6MWD and AECOPD.CONCLUSION:Lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms such as constipation and abdominal distention can adversely affect pulmonary symptoms, frequency of acute exacerbations and quality of life in patients with stable COPD. | Yan Sun Fengjie Zheng Yuhang Li Ruohan Wu Yuchao Liu Miao Liu Jinchao Zhang Kuo Gao | 2013 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,5: | 10
The dimension and morphology of alveolar bone at maxillaryanterior teeth in periodontitis: a retrospective analysis usingCBCT显示文摘The morphology of the alveolar bone at the maxillary anterior teeth in periodontitis patients was evaluated by cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT) to investigate the distribution of alveolar defects and provide guidance for clinical practice. Ninety periodontitis patients and 30 periodontally healthy individuals were selected to determine the morphology of the alveolar bone at the maxillary anterior teeth according to the degree of bone loss, tooth type, sex and age. The differences in the dimensions between periodontitis patients and healthy individuals were compared, and the distribution of alveolar bone defects was analyzed.A classification system was established regarding the sagittal positions and angulations of the teeth. The buccal residual bone was thicker and the lingual bone was thinner in the periodontitis patients than in the periodontally healthy individuals, and there were differences between the different tooth types, sexes and age subgroups. The buccal undercut was close to the alveolar ridge, while fenestration was reduced and the apical bone height was higher in periodontitis patients than in periodontally healthy individuals. The apical bone height increased with the aggravation of bone loss and age. The proportions of different sagittal positions changed with the aggravation of bone loss. Moreover, the teeth moved more buccally regarding the positions of the maxillary anterior teeth. The morphology of the alveolar bone at the maxillary anterior teeth differed between periodontitis patients and healthy individuals, and the differences were related to the degree of bone loss, tooth type, sex and age. | Xue Zhang Yuchao Li Ziming Ge Haijiao Zhao Lei Miao Yaping Pan | 2020 | International Journal of Oral Science2020,12,1: | 10
Single-cell biomagnifier for optical nanoscopes and nanotweezers显示文摘Optical microscopes and optical tweezers, which were invented to image and manipulate microscale objects, have revolutionized cellular and molecular biology. However, the optical resolution is hampered by the diffraction limit;thus, optical microscopes and optical tweezers cannot be directly used to image and manipulate nano-objects.The emerging plasmonic/photonic nanoscopes and nanotweezers can achieve nanometer resolution, but the high-index material structures will easily cause mechanical and photothermal damage to biospecimens. Here,we demonstrate subdiffraction-limit imaging and manipulation of nano-objects by a noninvasive device that was constructed by trapping a cell on a fiber tip.The trapped cell, acting as a biomagnifier, could magnify nanostructures with a resolution of 100 nm(λ/5.5)under white-light microscopy. The focus of the biomagnifier formed a nano-optical trap that allowed precise manipulation of an individual nanoparticle with a radius of 50 nm.This biomagnifier provides a high-precision tool for optical imaging, sensing, and assembly of bionanomaterials. | Yuchao Li Xiaoshuai Liu Baojun Li | 2019 | Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1: | 9
Reinforcement effect of fiber and deoiled asphalt on high viscosity rubber/SBS modified asphalt mortar显示文摘In this paper we investigate the reinforcement mechanism of high viscosity rubber/SBS modified asphalt mortar mixed with fiber(mineral, lignin or carbon fiber) and deoiled asphalt(DOA). The softening point, penetration and viscosity tests were conducted to characterize the engineering properties of asphalt-fiber mortar. The microstructure of fiber was observed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and the results indicated that fiber can effectively improve the toughness of asphalt matrix through forming a spatial network structure, and then adhesion and stabilization of asphalt binder. The cone penetration test was designed to study the rheological property of fiber modified asphalt. The results indicated that the reinforcement effect increased with fibers and DOA fraction increasing to a certain threshold, and the optimal fiber content was dependent on the fiber type and its length. Fiber content and filler-asphalt ratio had significant effects on the softening point, penetration, viscosity and cone penetration of asphalt mortar. | Wu Mengmeng Li Rui Zhang Yuzhen Wei Jianming Lv Yuchao Ding Xuemei | 2014 | Petroleum Science2014,11,3: | 8
Targeted metabolomics of sulfated bile acids in urine for the diagnosis and grading of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy显示文摘Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy(ICP)is related to cholestatic disorder in pregnancy.Total urinary sulfated bile acids(SBAs)were found increased in ICP.We distinguished the metabolic profiling of urinary SBAs in ICP to find potential biomarkers for the diagnosis and grading of ICP.The targeted metabolomics based on high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS/MS)was used to analyze urinary SBAs profiling in mild and severe ICP cases,as well as healthy controls.16 kinds of urinary SBAs were determined by HPLC-MS/MS.Sulfated dihydroxy glycine bile acid(di-GBA-S),glycine cholic acid 3-sulfate(GCA-3S),sulfated dihydroxy taurine bile acid(di-TBA-S)and taurine cholic acid 3-sulfate(TCA-3S)increased significantly in ICP group compared with the control group.Seven kinds of SBAs were significantly different(p<0.05)between the ICP group and the control group, with the variable importance in the projection(VIP)value more than one by the orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA).GCA-3S was well-suited to be used as the biomarker for the diagnosis of ICP with the sensitivity of 100%and specificity of 95.5%.A multi-variable logistic regression containing GCA-3S and di-GBA-S-1 was constructed to distinguish severe ICP from mild ICP,with the sensitivity of 94.4%and specificity of 100%.The developed HPLC-MS/MS method is suitable for the measurement of urinary SBAs profiling. Moreover, the urinary SBAs in the metabolomic profiling have the potential to be used as non-intrusive biomarkers for the diagnosis and grading of ICP. | Yuchao Li Xiaoqing Zhang Jianbo Chen Chengya Feng Yifan He Yong Shao Min Ding | 2018 | Genes & Diseases2018,5,4: | 8
Vacancy formation enthalpies of high-entropy FeCoCrNi alloy via first-principles calculations and possible implications to its superior radiation tolerance显示文摘Because atoms in high-entropy alloys(HEAs) coordinate in very different and distorted local environments in the lattice sites, even for the same type of constituent, their point defects could highly vary. Therefore, theoretical determination of the thermodynamic quantities(i.e., defect formation enthalpies)of various point defects is rather challenging because each corresponding thermodynamic quantity of all involve constituents is not unique. The knowledge of these thermodynamic quantities is prerequisite for designing novel HEAs and understanding the mechanical and physical behaviors of HEAs. However,to date there has not been a good method to theoretically derive the defect formation enthalpies of HEAs. Here, using first-principles calculations within the density functional theory(DFT) in combination of special quasi-random structure models(SQSs), we have developed a general method to derive corresponding formation enthalpies of point defects in HEAs, using vacancy formation enthalpies of a four-component equiatomic fcc-type FeCoCrNi HEA as prototypical and benchmark examples. In difference from traditional ordered alloys, the vacancy formation enthalpies of FeCoCrNi HEA vary in a highly wide range from 0.72 to 2.89 eV for Fe, 0.88–2.90 eV for Co, 0.78–3.09 eV for Cr, and 0.91–2.95 eV for Ni due to high-level site-to-site lattice distortions and compositional complexities. On average, the vacancy formation enthalpies of 1.58 eV for Fe, 1.61 eV for Cr, 1.70 eV for Co and 1.89 eV for Ni are all larger than that(1.41 eV) of pure fcc nickel. This fact implies that the vacancies are much more difficult to be created than in nickel, indicating a reasonable agreement with the recent experimental observation that FeCoCrNi exhibits two orders of amplitudes enhancement of radiation tolerance with the suppression of void formation at elevated temperatures than in pure nickel. | Weiliang Chen Xueyong Ding Yuchao Feng Xiongjun Liu Kui Liu Z.P. | 12 | Seasonal variation in body mass and energy budget in Chinese bulbuls (pycnonotus sinensis)显示文摘Background: Seasonal adjustments in body mass and energy budget are important for the survival of small birds in temperate zones. Seasonal changes in body mass, body temperature, gross energy intake(GEI), digestible energy intake(DEI), body fat content, as well as length and mass of the digestive tract, were measured in Chinese Bulbuls(Pycnonotus sinensis) caught in the wild at Wenzhou, China. Methods: Body mass was determined with a Sartorius balance. The caloric contents of the dried food and feces were then determined using a oxygen bomb calorimeter. Total fat was extracted from the dried carcasses by ether extraction in a Soxhlet apparatus. The digestive tract of each bird was measured and weighed, and was then dried to a constant mass. Results: Body mass showed a significant seasonal variation and was higher in spring and winter than in summer and autumn. Body fat was higher in winter than in other seasons. GEI and DEI were significantly higher in winter. The length and mass of the digestive tract were greatest in winter and the magnitude of both these parameters was positively correlated with body mass, GEI and DEI. Small passerines typically have higher daily energy expenditure in winter, necessitating increased food consumption. Conclusions: This general observation is consistent with the observed winter increase in gut volume and body mass in Chinese Bulbuls. These results suggest that Chinese Bulbuls adjust to winter conditions by increasing their body mass, body fat, GEI, DEI and digestive tract size. | Mengsi Wu Yuchao Xiao Fang Yang Limeng Zhou Weihong Zheng Jinsong Liu | 2014 | Chinese Birds2014,,1: | 6
Virus-induced Phytoene Desaturase(PDS) Gene Silencing Using Tobacco Rattle Virus in Lilium × formolongi显示文摘Gene function analysis is challenging for Lilium due to the lack of an efficient method for stable genetic transformation. Virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS) is an attractive tool for determining gene function in plants. This study reported that Tobacco rattle virus(TRV)-based VIGS of a PHYTOENE DESATURASE(PDS) ortholog(LhPDS) can be achieved in Lilium × formolongi seedlings, with a survival rate of 92%, using the inoculation method of rubbing plus injection. Compared with untreated and mock-treated seedlings, the photobleached leaf phenotype of silenced plants significantly correlates with down-regulation of endogenous LhPDS(P ≤ 0.05). In addition, the silencing phenomenon can be observed in the growing points of plants, indicating that systemic viral infection was achieved using the protocol. The results indicate that TRV-based VIGS can be used to characterize gene function in Lilium × formolongi. | 14 | A 2-D Fuzzy Logic Based MRAS Scheme for Sensorless Control of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives with Cyclic Fluctuating Loads显示文摘Model reference adaptive system(MRAS)is typically employed for rotor position/speed estimation in sensorless interior permanent magnet motor(IPMSM)drives. The adjustment of control parameters in MRAS is a key issue for IPMSM drive systems with cyclic fluctuating loads. In order to avoid the difficulties involved with manual tuning of the control parameters,a new MRAS scheme based on fuzzy logic is proposed in this paper in which a fuzzy controller replaces the conventional PI regulator. To implement this new MRAS scheme,a two-dimensional(2-D)fuzzy rule is designed. The proposed control scheme is employed in the IPMSM drives with cyclic fluctuating loads such as compressors. In order to lower the motor speed ripple caused by the cyclic fluctuating load,a feed-forward compensation strategy with the load-matching motor output torque pattern is developed.Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy logic based MRAS scheme with minimal rotor position estimation error. | Yang Mei Kai Sun Yuchao Shi | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering2015,1,1: | 6
Electrode design using revolving entity extraction for high-efficiency electric discharge machining of integral shrouded blisk显示文摘The integral shrouded blisk provides better performance with minimum weight, but its semi-open structure presents problems for its production.Manufacturing processes of these components require a removal of about 70%-90%of material from their blanks.Multi-axis electrical discharge machining(EDM)is commonly used for these processes, but its poor efficiency cannot meet the requirements of mass production.Strong flushing assisted high-current discharge is able to improve the machining efficiency. In this paper, this method was applied to manufacture the integral shrouded blisk. An electrode design method was proposed.Taking the largest revolving entity inside the flow channel as the base geometry, this laminated arc-shaped hollow electrode meets the requirements such as high pressure flushing, tool wear compensation, and easy to be made.A 4-axis linkage machining tool path with planetary motion was proposed.Taking an integral guide vane ring as an example,it has been experimentally verified that the time consumption for each channel using this method was reduced to a half of the ordinary EDM method, while the finished surface quality remains same. | Yuchao JIA Guanxin CHI Yang SHEN Kun ZHANG Zhenlong WANG Yukui WANG | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,6: | 5
Vertical‐organic‐nanocrystal‐arrays for crossbar memristors with tuning switching dynamics toward neuromorphic computing显示文摘Memristors proposed by Leon Chua provide a new type of memory device for novel neuromorphic computing applications. However, the approaching of distinct multi‐intermediate states for tunable switching dynamics, the con-trolling of conducting filaments(CFs)toward high device repeatability and reproducibility, and the ability for large‐scale preparation devices, remain full of challenges. Here,we show that vertical‐organic‐nanocrystal‐arrays(VONAs)could make a way toward the challenges. The perfect one‐dimensional structure of the VONAs could confine the CFs accurately with fine‐tune resistance states in a broad range of 103 ratios. The availability of large‐area VONAs makes the fabrication of large‐area crossbar memristor arrays facilely, and the analog switching characteristic of the memristors is to effectively imitate different kinds of synaptic plasticity, indicating their great potential in future applications. | Fangxu Yang Lingjie Sun Qingxi Duan Huanli Dong Zhaokun Jing Yuchao Yang Rongjin Li Xiaotao Zhang Wenping Hu Leon Chua | 2021 | SmartMat2021,2,1: | 5
Optimizing zeolite stabilized Pt-Zn catalysts for propane dehydrogenation显示文摘Propane dehydrogenation(PDH)provides an alternative route to non-petroleum based propylene and eligible catalysts with good overall performance are still being explored.Herein,we report the construction of zeolite stabilized Pt-Zn catalysts Pt-Zn/Si-Beta for PDH.Characterization results from transmission electron microscopy(TEM),ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy reveal that highly-dispersed Zn species are stabilized by the silanols from zeolite framework dealumination, which then act as the anchoring sites for Pt species. The close contact between Pt-Zn species and the electronic interaction thereof make Pt-Zn/Si-Beta robust PDH catalysts.Under optimized conditions,a high propylene production rate of 4.11 molmol_(Pt)^(-1)s^(-1),high propylene selectivity of 98% and a sustainable deactivation rate of~0.02 h^(-1)can be simultaneously achieved at 823 K.Coke deposition is not the key reason for the catalytic deactivation, while the loss of Zn species and the resulting aggregation of Pt species under high temperatures are responsible for the irreversible deactivation of Pt-Zn/Si-Beta catalyst in PDH reaction. | Linjun Xie Yuchao Chai Lanlan Sun Weili Dai Guangjun Wu Naijia Guan Landong Li | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,6: | 5
Multi-focus image fusion based on block matching in 3D transform domain显示文摘Fusion methods based on multi-scale transforms have become the mainstream of the pixel-level image fusion. However, most of these methods cannot fully exploit spatial domain information of source images, which lead to the degradation of image. This paper presents a fusion framework based on block-matching and 3D(BM3D) multi-scale transform. The algorithm first divides the image into different blocks and groups these 2D image blocks into 3D arrays by their similarity. Then it uses a 3D transform which consists of a 2D multi-scale and a 1D transform to transfer the arrays into transform coefficients, and then the obtained low-and high-coefficients are fused by different fusion rules. The final fused image is obtained from a series of fused 3D image block groups after the inverse transform by using an aggregation process. In the experimental part, we comparatively analyze some existing algorithms and the using of different transforms, e.g. non-subsampled Contourlet transform(NSCT), non-subsampled Shearlet transform(NSST), in the 3D transform step. Experimental results show that the proposed fusion framework can not only improve subjective visual effect, but also obtain better objective evaluation criteria than state-of-the-art methods. | YANG Dongsheng HU Shaohai LIU Shuaiqi MA Xiaole SUN Yuchao | 2018 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2018,29,2: | 5
